City Center Hotel Long Beach, Sonder

Really friendly staff, super clean, new and modern hotel. The rooms were so cute and beds were so clean and comfy! Gorgeous little restaurant and patio located inside the hotel courtyard also. Close to the board walk and restaurants, also next door to the Feline Social Cat club-where you can visit super cute adoptable cats! The neighborhood felt safe, we didn’t have any issues finding street parking. Also loved that it was secure and always had someone at the front desk, and needing passcode to get in. Overall, would stay here again.

BEST staff. My mom and I visited for 10 days, and the entire staff here is so helpful, kind and hard working. They all deserve a raise, especially Jackie, Tamisha and Ray. Katie also helped us out with a late checkout, and we're so thankful for that. Everybody made our stay here memorable. The hotel is clean, and if you're into pool parties, they have those too once in a while (not every day). The pool and gym are nice. The hotel is also located in a convenient part of LB, with shops and stores within walking distance. It depends what you prefer, though, in terms of location. The hotel prioritized safety and cleanliness. The restaurant within the hotel is also convenient and great. We'd stay at this hotel again.

The rooms here have a retro feel and really well decorated. Shower was good, beds were comfy. Staff were helpful. Patio area was inviting. I had no issues with the doors, code worked without a problem. There’s no onsite parking but I parked on the street just a few blocks over, free after 8pm and on Sunday. Staff were friendly.

I have not even stayed here yet and I am already irritated. Yes, I booked a non-refundable reservation, and I fully expected not to be able to cancel. That part is on me. But here is the kicker: no onsite parking. The site says there is parking a half mile away, but you only find that little nugget once you click around like you are trying to unlock a cheat code. Not exactly front-page material. Every other hotel I looked at in the area had “off-site paid parking only” right there up front, so I assumed this place would at least be honest about it. Nope. The room is already expensive, and now I get to tack parking fees on top. Still, I owned my mistake and called to explain my situation. No screaming, no tantrum, just asked if they would let me cancel. Got put on hold for 15 minutes like something was actually being worked out, only to be told, “Sorry, we understand your frustration, but if you had clicked here and here…” Basically a long-winded corporate smile with a middle finger attached. Not a single olive branch, not even a half-hearted “we’ll see what we can do.” Just a polite “tough luck.” I usually stay at Marriott properties when I travel, but after this little game of “hide the parking info and shrug off the customer,” I am rethinking that. A premium brand charging premium prices should not treat their customers like they are disposable. If this is how they handle things before I even arrive, I can only imagine the warm hospitality waiting inside.

Entire staff is so friendly and helpful. Room was immaculately clean. It's very quiet here for a small, older hotel. Walking distance to many downtown attractions. Will definitely stay here again! Only thing missing for me was a microwave.

Let’s just start with the drive in, passing the boarded up windows and homeless yelling in the streets. Hope your door code works to the lobby because it most likely will not. Once you’re in the lobby the staff will have countless meetings that they can’t bother stopping to allow you to speak with the person at the front desk. Our door for our room code did not work and we had to be let into it for the first 2 days of our stay. Our room shared a wall with the cleaning closet and faced the street with paper thin walls. Hope you like car horns and engines revving all night long. The room itself was fine. The “suggested” parking is 3 blocks away also through a homeless wasteland. Hopefully you don’t run into the woman screaming at 7 am. The parking garage printer did not work so we had to phone the attendant to get to our car each time, which was another adventure. We ended up finding other parking further down the road to be able to access our vehicle. Do not stay here, do not walk around here, do not visit Long Beach.

Really enjoyed my stay here. The front desk staff was friendly, furniture and vibe was super cute, and everything was very clean. Felt homey! First time staying at a Sonder and was a little nervous tbh, but for sure will stay at another one after this experience! Regarding location it’s in downtown, so there is some sketchier things nearby, but good security on property and security guard at the alley gate. 2 hour parking outside 8 am - 6 pm. Free overnight and felt okay parking my car on street. There’s a restaurant/bar on the property that looked good too.

Perfect cute oasis in the heart of long beach for overnight quick stays. My son and I stayed here for 3 nights during the week and we loved it. The rooms are perfectly sized for a couple with a king bed and a large bathroom and shower. Loved the courtyard and it's charm. It has this cool retro vibe with plenty of cushioned seats for relaxing or working outdoors. All the doors are code entry from an app on my phone which was super cool. Didn't have to worry about losing my key. They even have a pool that was 85 degrees!! The service was fantastic: always welcoming and helpful for local eats recommendations with 24/7 front desk service. There's no parking - just street parking which is only $1/hr when you find a spot. It's 10 min walking distance to all the food coffee shops and long beach eats.
