City Coffeehouse

City Coffeehouse is such a cozy little spot. The space feels comfortable and inviting, with really nice décor, comfy furniture, and big windows that let in plenty of natural light. It’s the kind of place where you actually want to sit and stay for a while, not just grab your coffee and rush out. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming — great for meeting a friend, getting some work done, or just enjoying a quiet moment. The coffee is solid, and it’s a nice bonus that they also serve ice cream, which makes it a fun stop even if you’re not in the mood for caffeine. Overall, it has a genuine neighborhood feel and is a great addition to Allen Park. Definitely worth stopping in.

City Coffee is great little coffee house with great prices and delicious offerings. From bubble teas to full body coffees, excellent cheese cakes and croissants, City Coffee has something for everyone. I enjoy their caprese sandwich paired with one of their 20 or so teas. The prices are phenomenal in this current economy and they have quality offerings. Next time you're in town, I suggest you stop by. It's never too crowded and the atmosphere is pleasant and low key.

Stopped on a road trip to get some coffee to go with some baked goodies we already had. We ended up getting a bagel as well for good measure. Asiago bagel with cream cheese was very good. The medium roast coffee was good, but without some of the finer notes that make a good coffee great. Service was courteous, prices are competitive, and the atmosphere is inviting inside and outdoors. Parking was easy right in front of the building at late morning.

Make sure to remind the barista not to put whipped cream on lattes that don’t come with it in the first place, or you’ll be hit with attitude and 0 concern to remake the drink, only to scoop off the whipped topping. Ive ordered the same drink 5 months without having to specify, but apparently “they’re all made that way” just not made that way the 20 times I’ve came in before and ordered this, just today when the barista was in a bad mood!

My Iced Americano was just right. So was the hot shot of espresso I had on the side. The staff was prompt and friendly and did a nice job. And I enjoyed the music and the interesting decor. The front low table was especially comfortable. Overall, a really good experience.

A weekly (almost daily) go-to for boba and the city fizzes! They have a seasonal rotating menu that has some really good tea options! Brown sugar milk tea with tapioca boba, the Hawaiian fizz, vanilla & lavender latte, and a chai with caramel are my favorites!! You’ll always see the same young ladies working there and they’re so nice. This place gets packed by students, so it may become difficult to find a place to sit but it’s a lovely spot!

This place is adorable, we sat next to the fake fireplace, we kinda wished it was actually warm but we loved our drinks and the atmosphere.

Easy street parking. Relaxing. Good for studying. House-roasted coffee was really rich, deep, smooth. Baristas pour your creamer for you. Friendly service, and accommodating. However the barista had to ask her coworker all my questions. Me: "Can you make a salted caramel latte?" CC: "We can do a caramel latte." Me: "Do you have salt at all in the building?" CC: "Yes... um... we can put salt in the caramel latte." Me (thinking to self): ... and that is how we can exceed expectations.

Apparently this is a coffee house for those who don't work. Tried to stop by at 7:30 am but they don't open till 9. I'm only posting one star because of the time. I'd still like to try them.

I stopped by City Coffeehouse on the morning of a job interview. Free street parking was available and I was able to park right outside the front entrance. City Coffeehouse seemed like a regular with the locals for its friendly service and cozy environment with lots of comfortable seating and outlets. A cup of tea and a warm cheese croissant were just what I needed to calm my nerves and fill my tummy. I went to my interview after City Coffeehouse and later got the job, so now I see this cafe as a lucky spot and will return!

Cozy coffee spot that has great customer service and plenty of seating. They also have ice cream and pastries for those who don't want to indulge in espresso.

Love this little coffee shop. Only reason it's not a 5 star is because if they ask "for here or to go" and I say "for here" I believe my coffee should come in a coffee mug, not a to go cup

Been going here for years. It's usually mixed quality depending on the person making the drinks. Like anywhere else Today went and the drink didn't taste right and they wouldn't remake the drink or swap it and was rude about it which is okay because it was busy and I get the frustration but I just don't wanna go spend $5-8 on a drink and if it's made tasting not quite right I wanna be able to have it remade

Great place for a coffee run- stop in and stay awhile or take it on the go. Coffee is good, lots of treats to choose from and they're all good. This place is cozy and always packed with people, great spot to work on some work and have a treat. Free parking in quaint Allen Park. Downside for me is every time I've been in (handful of times) the baristas haven't been very welcoming/helpful. But hey, it's work and we all have our days, so I get it if they just wanna take my order and be done with it. :)

Love coming to this local coffee house! Delicious latte (iced is my favorite) and welcoming, clean atmosphere. Lots of different drink options (even non-coffee beverages) and baked goods to choose from! They even have a small selection of iced cream and desserts. Recommend trying!

The service and ambiance are great here if you want a place to study in the downriver area. The music is not too loud, and the shop also comes with ice cream, which is a unique twist. However, there are no food options with protein at all in the shop, which I think is desperately needed in a coffee shop, especially for those who plan on spending an extended period of time in the area. Whether this be the possibility of adding protein to smoothies or even an egg to your bagel, there is a little bit lacking in the food/protein department. A redeeming factor is the amazing Detroit photos across the walls!

Cute coffee shop with a great vibe. Lots of old photos from Detroit on wall. Had a latte and a great conversation. There is a cool vending machine with art etc. I loved my art! Lots of studying going on here and other folks as well. Everything is set up for social distancing and felt very safe here.

If you want a place to get together with friends or just to work, this is the place! Loved their pour down coffee and the almond joy Latte. They have a good variety of coffee so everyone would find what they liked. My friend got Banana Nut Latte and he became a fan of the place. Super adorable place where I would definitely visit again.

A restaurant down the street had a week, so we wondered into City Coffeehouse. They do not have a full menu, but do have some good bakery items. The blueberry muffin did not disappoint. The chai tea latte was awesome.

Just moved here and I only come in for a few items. I wanted to have a meeting here to introduce others to the place and they were out of all the items that I was talking about? How are you out of danish's at 2pm at a local business?

The coffee is lacking and tends to be bitter/burnt tasting. But I still stop in for the experience and teas more so than the coffee. Which is a shame since coffee is one of my favorite beverages.

i do not like this place whats so ever their coffee is a joke how to change the place or whatever they do it's always gonna be the same place doesn't matter if you change management to revive the place it always sucked, I did not enjoy my time there there they don't have good quality coffee because I am aware of this because I've asked about the beans in the new give me a straight answer. so I will stay away from this place hopefully they may change how we proceed with this but I don't think it's a good place to go for coffee there are better places to go in with my money.

After a long day at Cedar Point and driving back, I needed a coffee fix. City Coffeehouse was not only open on Labor Day, but also kind of on the way home. We stopped in around 2pm and there were a couple of tables doing some last minute schoolwork. We ordered with the barista and she had our drinks ready in about 5 minutes. I had a banana latte and BF had a chai latte. He enjoyed his chai and I really liked my banana latte. It tasted just like banana nut bread! Service was prompt and friendly. I'd 10/10 come back for a coffee fix.

Really enjoyed this cute coffee spot in downtown Allen Park. They have a huge selection of drinks and I went with a medium cafe au lait ($3). The drink was well made and delish. I would stop in here again anytime. They have lots of indoor seating and free WiFi. I noticed lots of folks using the space to work or study, so if you need to get out of the house for a change of scenery this is a great spot.

This cute cafe is opened since 1996. They offer variety of unique flavors. Betsy is the sweetest who took my order and made my coffee. I tried the banana nut latte. Never thought sweet banana flavor will mesh so well with bitter coffee. Love it !! They also have art for sale and a comfy couch to chill on.

The hipster coffee house... are they making a comeback? Or are they slowly dying off? Because I happen to love local businesses with real barristas and not just simulated ones like Jim Shortons or Wackdonalds. A place where a proper downriver rat such as myself can go have a cup of delicious pour over coffee. Sit down, do some light reading, a bit of studying or just a spot to shoot the breeze and wait for the whole gang to assemble. My fiance happens to love their white chocolate macadamia frappuccino, that seems to be his go to beverage. Mine, would be the house black or a pour over barristas choice. The staff is very nice, the ambiance is really chill and It's just a pleasant place to be. There is outside seating during the summer time for patrons who prefer outdoor air. I'll be seeing you again next time City. I love you!!

Great place. I stopped by after dropping someone at the airport. Worked for a couple hours drinking coffee. Atmosphere was awesome. There was some construction going on so it was a bit loud. However the construction was to install more plugs which is a much needed in all coffee shops.

Cozy spot, great workers, and wonderful hours for the student looking to go somewhere new to study.

Tea delicious!!! Coffee delicious. Very zen inviting atmosphere...customer service was A1. Snacks are available as well. Variety of seating available and a couch...plugs in various locations are available as well. Art available for purchase. Dessert is available for purchase as well

I'm a big fan of City Coffee house. They have unique coffee options. I have many favorites, some are the Vanilla Latte and the Banana Nut Latte. The place is specious, and had a nice setting. I recommend stopping by.

I used to come here all the time when I was younger and it's still so good. Lots and lots of seating space, easy to park, it's really anything you'd want out of a cozy cafe. I had a drink that was meant to be banana bread flavored last I came here, and was surprised how good it was. I'm not usually one for sweet drinks, but it was perfectly balanced. I want to come back and try the next drink of the day, too.

Great tasting coffee and pleasant atmosphere! I will return the next time I'm in Allen Park.

Love coming here to study. Cool place to hang out and study. They have remodelled since I have been here. The place is a lot better with cool seating and atmosphere. The staff is friendly and welcoming. The place get pretty packed sometimes and hard to find seating during the weekend. I recommend coming here if you want something then a basic Starbucks or Biggbys.

Shame on me very first visit, absolutely greatest Coffee shop Downriver. SUPER prices got a large Sumatra Coffee on $2.81 about half price of the Mega Coffee chains and hipster joints around town. I used to love City but in recent months, a very talkative loud group of regulars (I assume) gathers and it's a coffee shop so they are totally able to, but after the remodel, the place has much more echo and even louder Miss the quiet study spot but the coffee is still Yummy

okay the first time I tried to post this it wouldn't let me but GO GET YOU A HOT COCOA FROM KENDRA, I promise that you and your tastebuds will not be disappointed, in fact they will actually be blessed by the vast array of flavors that she manages to fit all into a small cup. I have been unable to function properly since I finished my hot chocolate because it is so incredibly addicting that my brain refuses to function until it gets more sweet chocolate water. The flavor is so impeccable that it washed away all of my troubles and sorrows from the night. I don't need to go to therapy anymore because of this hot cocoa. Turn your life around TODAY and go get a cup

I got the banana nut iced latte and it was SO GOOD. The barista recommended adding cinnamon to it, so I also recommend doing so because I loved it. Also, they were only playing Harry Styles so like.. the perfect place? Yeah, probably.

I like to support local. I was in AP on Wednesday with a friend and ordered coffees. A black eye and a red eye. As I was about halfway done I mentioned to her that it didn't taste good. It was bitter. She said so was hers. She looked at me and said, "I had a cuppochino and it was cold and with this we're not coming back." I will say that we did not bring this to the baristas attention. I ran a small business for many years and once you loose a customer it's hard to get them back.

A cute coffeehouse but weird they don't open till 10. The mochas and lattes were good but cafe breve was not very good seemed like they forgot the coffee. And the service was slow but friendly

City Coffeehouse became my favorite local coffee shop when I lived in the area in 2018 - 2019. I don't drink the coffee itself, but both the tea and hot chocolate were very good, with the banana hot chocolate a standout. I'd opt for the former in the late morning, and the latter in the evening. They have a good and rotating assortment of pastries to choose from as well, which I always appreciate in a coffee shop, and pay attention to making sure the details of the order are correct - no whipped cream by default if I forgot to specify! The atmosphere was also top-notch. Cozy, a variety of types of places to sit ranging from sofas to tables to a small bar counter to the patio, a generous amount of outlets. Quiet enough most of the time that you could listen in to conversation between the barista and the customer at the bar during down time, or at the next table over. Occasionally you'll converse with another customer. It's more of a community feel than the big chains, and also quite enough to focus on something productive if that's what you're there for. Someone else commented on the hours opening late; for me the fact that it's open till 10 (or was pre-pandemic, at least) was a plus. I know a lot of people like to swing by for a caffeine fix in the morning; I wonder how they find that motivation so early. Dearborn is fortunate to have a lot of late-night coffee options - my second-and-third favorite choices in the area are open even later - and I appreciated having places that I could swing by after work and relax awhile, while still being able to take the time to prepare dinner before setting out.

Great tea selection and I love the dharma bum drink. Every other drink I've gotten has been delicious as well. My guy always gets the banana nut latte. The baristas are friendly and knowledgeable. It can get pretty full in here on weekends - I wish they would buy the empty place next door and expand! (Also, the booths are so strange. The spacing is all off and if you're sitting with your back to the booth you have to lean forward way too far to reach the table! I always opt for a table and chairs :))

Honestly one of the best lattes I've ever had. Very buttery and full flavor, and SO GOOD. The barista was quiet but kind and I will definitely be returning.

I'm not sure how I didn't find this place sooner, but the coffee is super good! I appreciate that they have soy milk that I can sub in my latte since I don't drink regular milk. Both times I've ordered the caramel latte, which was the perfect amount of sweetness. My husband always gets the Banana Nut Latte, which he swears tastes just like banana bread. I also ordered an apple fritter last time, which I could tell was not fresh baked, and then I noticed the plastic container on the back shelf that they came in from the store. A little disappointing, but it seemed like maybe some of the baked goods they made in-house. Both times I've also noticed they have had vegan brownies, which earns them bonus points in my book.

Stopped in today..... holy crap it looks awesome in there. Great job on the new renovations! Ordered an iced double dirty Chai. It was very good!! Jesse the owner was great and super helpful with any questions I had about the drinks . Will definitely be back again

Coffee was good and young lady who made it was very polite. However, man at counter when we first came in Ignored us. Seemed like a nice place. Husband really liked raspberry flavor.

Really like this place, very cool atmosphere and so many nice little details in the place. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I just got a straight coffee and I liked the flavor. My only knock is they open at 10am! I have never been to a coffee shop that opens that late, so odd to me. Earlier opening hours would change this to a 5 star rating from me.

Sitting out on the patio, reading my book and finishing the overpriced banana nut latte whose aroma I could deliciously smell and flavor I could barely taste, there was an older man also outside that stood smoking by the wall for about the entire time I sit. He soon asks "Are you done?" And assuming that he works here, I reply "Yes sir" and he then rushes over to take away my mug as if queuing me to hurry up and leave the coffeehouse. Initally, I shrug it off along with the other random stares. I failed to comprehend the actual memo until a couple minutes later, when another man walking past the patio gate begins making strange noises at me like he's some animal set out to maul me. Now here I am, more conscientious of the tone of my complexion. It's never detoured me from going, coming or doing anything I enjoy (a true shame if it should ever), including indulgence in seasonal lattes. But then I remember what city I'm in. City Coffeehouse is a sleek, chill spot whereas the surrounding demographic just happens to be real wack. Ignorance exists loudly within this area still, no matter how quiet the gesture. As a paying customer, I can type that was made to feel unwelcomed during my first visit. My mom said I shouldn't have been surprised at these behaviors. I guess I found it moreso comical and silly, if anything.

I just went here at 5:30pm and there was no employee to be found. There was like 15 people in there and I waited 10 minutes and no employee was seen so I had to leave. Every time I go here there's only one person working and the service is slow.

Industrially decorated with a warm edge. Their menu is so delicious, I could happily bathe in it. After long deliberation I tried their Chai Latte with coconut milk (as a non-dairy substitute), coupled with a beautiful chocolate brownie. Holy yum. They have such a great variety of beverages, desserts, pastries, and ice cream. I cannot wait to try their coffee. They roast their own coffee beans on site! The Detroit wall art is very nostalgic, and the garage door entrance is truly the silver lining that ties the place together. 5 stars for Lauren, my barista, too. She was very informative, and helpful in making my very hard, final choice. Very sweet, kind, and energetic about her job! Will definitely be back-A LOT!!!

Would give -1 star if I could... Was a good customer, spent $100s in this place and in the end was treated badly...took my business elsewhere! The owner could care less that I was a paying customer for 3 years who came in every day and spent $100s of dollars in this place and when I complain to the owner Jessica, about employees who bad mouthed me behind my back, I was told to get lost and not come back!

Great little coffee shop in Allen Park. It's becoming a go to for a post lunch time iced coffee. I've also tried their baked goods and you can't go wrong with the peanut butter cookie! They have Hershey's ice cream, a great patio, and the garage door opens in the front when the weather is nice. The staff have been awesome each time I've been in.
