City Donuts

Excellent. Stopped in on a Saturday morning around 7:45 a.m. the donuts were fresh and they were delicious. The nice young lady behind the counter was very helpful since I was just visiting and didn't know which flavors might be best. She helped me pick out some for my dozen. They were a big hit with my crew. Coffee was great. Nice and strong but not overpowering. I am now a fan of City Donuts. I will be back next time I'm in Denver.

What an adorable shop! Coffee is great and the pastry and donut selections are awesome! Rheem (spelling) is so sweet and added to the fun of the visit! City Donuts on Colfax, don’t miss out!

10 yr old- This donut place was really good and it has great hot chocolate and donuts. Parent- this is our regular neighborhood donut shop. They make all their donuts fresh and when they run out they're closed for the day. That's just a warning. Great selection of flavors and toppings, I would absolutely recommend for when you need that sweet treat.

The donuts were simple perfection! I loved it and the people were so nice. It has all the flavors I used to love at Dunkin’ Donuts that you can’t find anywhere and more and they do them all to gourmet perfection. I am going to be back there often, I need to go back and try the donut holes

Haven't been here before and I haven't heard of this place until today. If you're looking for a good doughnut and a good service then this is the place to go.

I tried this donuts for the first time and definitely is going to be my go to, this place has more fresh, delicious and cheap donuts than other recognized places

My son and I were hungry for some donuts and the reviews on this place lured us in. Nezar gave great customer service with "Welcome to City Donuts!" He took the time and payed attention to detail and made us feel special. His dedication to service and making a small connection is rare and we'll definitely be back for more donuts. On top of all that, the donuts were delicious! Thank you and your family Nezar.

Good donuts if you're in the area. Not my first option for donuts. If I lived closer I would go more often.

We were welcomed, assisted quickly, and our donuts were really good. The breakfast sandwich was gobbled up, so I guess they liked those too!

My 2 stars from seven years ago is now a 5. This is why: the grumpy lady who served me then has been replaced by a very nice young man who stayed open an extra few minutes to accommodate me - a smile and some accommodation goes a long way. Second, and this is the BIG one for me, they are now open until 8 pm (every day but Monday)! As I mentioned 7 years ago, I'm just a guy who prefers my donuts after 2 instead of before; the later the better.

This business was located in what looked to be a pretty sketchy area particularly for an out of town guest not knowing where she was. It had boxes and stuff piled around and the bathroom needed a code to get in. The person manning the place was okay friendly but not especially welcoming or informative. The donuts were good but the "coffee drink" was gas station coffee drink which suffices for coffee but not if you want a nice latte in the morning. It was an okay experience and we enjoyed the donuts.

Went to the Colfax location Wednesday before Thanksgiving to buy donuts for the whole family. Unfortunately they were closed. Trying to support a local family business, I drove to the Peoria location. Unfortunately they were closed as well. I wish that if you were closing multiple locations, please annotate all locations closed or which were and which were not closed.

One of my friends informed me about City Donuts. On Saturdays I usually pick up a dozen donuts for coffee friends. Even though they about a 20 minute drive, I decided to give them a try. My friend was correct. Their donuts were outstanding. the donuts were a big hit this morning I would highly recommend this establishment and they now have a loyal customer, 20 minute drive or not

WOW. The amount of stellar reviews on City Donut is phenomenal! I stopped by the Denver location on my way back from some errands and wanted to treat myself to an apple fritter (my usual selection) and a cup of coffee. Has a typical neighborhood donut shop feel to it, complete with regulars walking in and out, chatting with the owners. Service is great. Selection is great. Donuts themselves are great. Coffee is great. No complaints here, and I'd totally do a catering or large to-go order once more in-person events start happening. I rarely go to Littleton or Aurora, but I'll have to visit City Donuts over there, too. Love when I visit a place that lives up to its hype. I'll definitely be back!

They are closed. The sign on the colfax location said new temporary hours: Closed Monday - Friday. Come on!! No explanation? We were there Friday morning and they were open. Annoying. Today we wanted a couple dozen to celebrate a birthday and had to go to Safeway. Not cool.

For the one donut I had, this place is very promising. I usually rate my donut shops by their glaze donuts but to my misfortune the gluttonous old man ahead of me took them all. Oh well. I got here pretty early so it makes me think so they just not make enough glaze donuts or do they just taste like heaven, I will never know. Unless I am in Denver again. But for the one donut that I did have, second favorite cinnamon crumb donut, it was very tasty and very fluffy. It is everything you want in a donut. I can't give this a 5. The reason is that I grade on the glaze donuts but if I imagine what that glaze tastes like, I can almost guarantee that this donut shop would be a 5 star. I'll change my review once I scaled that mountain.

Yum! Delicious donuts that are extremely fresh and there's a great selection. We popped down here during a break from our hospital visit and what a great idea. You won't be disappointed!

It's OK, if you need a donut, they have donuts. I always have a soft spot for the "mom and pop" efforts

When did the Safeway's and King Soopers of the world forget how to make a good glazed raised donut? Well, no problem. City Donuts is a quick walk for me, and they NAIL the art of donutery. I did make the mistake of bringing my 3.5 year old in with me, and now he asks to go just about daily. The staff (usually l just see a fella I assume to be the proprietor) is always first rate, super friendly, and over the top helpful.

I needed to come back and add that after 2 days my donuts were still pretty darn fresh!! I was so impressed as normally fresh donuts get stale next day and these bad boys were still good to go 2 days later (hard for me to eat 1/2 a dozen that quick).

Overall, great donuts and cool little shop. They are more expensive than what you would pay at Dunkin etc..

We wanted to do something nice for our apartment community staff before the holidays (December 2021), so we headed to City Donuts to get them a gift. We arrived 30 minutes before they closed and assumed they wouldn't have much left ... but we were wrong. It looks like they just opened - the case was full of so many gorgeous choices! The gal behind the counter was sweet and friendly, and super patient with us as we got 2 dozen donuts and some extras for ourselves. She even offers to give us a veteran discount even though they don't normally do those anymore - she definitely didn't have to, but it was very gracious of her. So how do the donuts TASTE? Um, incredible, my friend. I think if you come to Denver, or especially if you live here, trying City Donuts should be on your bucket list!

New (to me) donut discovery: cake donut with coconut topping. Perfection. Just the right about of sweet. And it's even better if you let it sit overnight in the bag.

I'd been craving a donut for over a week, so i decided that today was the day that I was going to go on a search for a great donut place with authentic cake and glazed donuts. We settled on City Donuts, and we were beyond impressed! We were greeted so warmly by Mido, the young man working the counter. My daughter had a picture she had drawn in her hand, and he immediately started chatting with her about it. He was so, so kind and such an obviously lovely person. On top of that, the donuts were absolutely top-notch! Super fresh and so delicious. If you are looking for awesome, real donuts, and incredible customer service, this is the place.

Excellent little donut shop. Love the old building and the feel of the place. Almost felt like stepping back a few decades as we entered. The gentleman working behind the counter was friendly and welcoming. We tried their crumb old fashioned and raised, chocolate frosted, twist, and blueberry cake. They were all fresh and delicious.

Fantastic donut shop! Popped in here on a Saturday afternoon around 12:30pm just before closing. My wife and I got a glazed donut each, and they were the best!! The donut was so fluffy and had a nice crispy exterior, not too sickly, just right. The owner of the shop greeted me as I entered, and told me about the history of the shop, and even how they make their donuts. Support this local business and come give it a try, you won't regret it!

Hidden gem. Great apple fritter. I absolutley just love this place! Wish they had koloches but most Denver spots don't. Plus these folks are just so kind!

Can we please talk about the employee that was there today...4/23 @ 10:25am....horrible. Nasty Attitude. I told asked her a question regarding a donut (there wasn't very many to choose from) she pretended like she didn't see what i was pointing at nor understand my question. Girl, if you don't wanna work with people, go home. Nobody has to or wants to deal with your shit attitude.

Walking in the door and getting a warm greeting was definitely the right way to start the morning not to mention donut hunting. I already had in mind what I wanted - Boston Creme - but my wife had some deciding to do. Considering this is my go to it is also the standard I compare donut shops on. I can tell you mine was very good. She had the old fashioned and we got a bunch of donut holes for our toddler. Everything was great especially with a good cup of coffee. I am happy to have found a spot so near us that has both great donuts and a friendly staff!

Great donuts! A good variety, but it's a small shop so not as much quantity. I get the sense you have to get there early because they sell out of their more popular stuff. The donuts I bought were really good. Service was excellent. I'll be back!

I hate to leave a one star review for City Donuts, because I actually really liked their selection and service. So I'll add another star for that. Unfortunately, I got food poisoning from the doughnuts here, and on my first time visiting, no less. I couldn't wait to come by and try out their selection, so I was here at about 8 or 9 in the morning. The 3 doughnuts, and the bottled orange juice I bought on the side, were the first (and only) thing I ate that day; I started feeling strange within 2 hours, then began getting sick. So I didn't have an appetite to eat for the rest of the day. It only lasted a day or so, but I was made sick nonetheless. Therefore, I will not be giving City Donuts another try. :( Also worth a note: you can't get any fancy coffee here, just a simple cup of Joe. Literally just a SIMPLE cup of Joe. Not my "cup of tea..." lol. **EDIT: In response to the owner's comment below: what you have stated is incorrect. Not only am I a former pre-med student & biology major, I am a certified food handler/preparer, certified in 5 states. I know what causes food poisoning, and what the symptoms are. Food poisoning can be felt as early as 3-6 hours after consuming contaminated food. It is quite disappointing that you aren't well-informed on your knowledge of food-borne illnesses, as you are working directly with the public in a food and service related industry. Please obtain further education on the cause and effects of food borne illnesses so that you will not contaminate someone else's food like you did mine. And I never said anything about nausea; your donuts caused me to literally throw up, have explosive diarrhea, and I was also plagued with "sulfur burps" (which is a CLEAR indicator of consuming contaminated foods), for an entire 24 hours. I WISH it were as simple as just "feeling nauseas." I had literally not eaten anything else in the 12-14 hours prior to me buying donuts at your shop, so the buck cannot be passed.

I really shouldn't know about this place. These are some old school donuts. So delicious and perfectly fluffy and light. And they're not expensive and it's really easy to just keep eating them (even when you're so full and you've already had 2 but you've got 2 more in your bag and you know you were never going to wait till tomorrow to eat them...) And the staff is really friendly. You get that "neighborhood, come chill with friends and family" vibe. They sell out of the flavors early, so no sleeping in if you want anything but the basics.

A friend visiting loves donuts so we knew this place was close by and wanted to try it! We arrived a little after noon and there weren't many donuts left. We figured that was our fault and ordered a couple so we could try what was there. Our donuts did not meet expectations. They didn't taste fresh like other donut shops I've tried. Also, I didn't find the female helping us very welcoming. I understand they were closely fairly soon but we were buying quite a few donuts!

Back in Raleigh my husband and I became slightly obsessed with a donut shop that made what I consider the best apple fritter known to man kind! Since relocating we have been on the epic search to find a replacement...City Donuts on Colfax good but not 100%. My husband and I went on a Sunday morning and luckily had no issue parking (right out front) and only had to wait a few moments to purchase our daily deliciousness. The young lady at the counter wasn't nearly as personable as the owner seems to be from other reviews but she helped us. We got the last 2 apple fritters (which upset the people behind us) and 2 glazed cruellers. The glazed cruellers were pretty good in my opinion. They donut itself was moist and sweet but not overdone. The apple fritters looked very similar to my favorite Raleigh apple fritter but were more doughy that I liked. They did have actual apples in them which I thought was impressive. I guess I most preferred the edges which were the most delicious bites of heaven but the middle - again too doughy. I would definitely go back to City Donuts and maybe even try the apple fritters again. I look forward to trying/finding a maple eclair with white cream filling - none of that pudding crap!

We frequent here after church or swim lessons! They're always so friendly, the donuts are good and it's a nice local spot! They often sell out of the donut holes so be sure to get there early! The sprinkled donuts are the boys favorite and I enjoy them too. There is a $5 minimum on credit cards. The staff is always so helpful and kind. We like supporting this local spot!

all I can say is they were open and had donuts for sale. this is not a clean place. I'm not sure if the donuts are baked here but I sure hope not. The clerk acted annoyed to even have a customer at all. He finished filling the drink stand and then waited on me. he was also very clearly annoyed that I asked any questions or that I wanted a receipt for the dozen. I believe I will take my business elsewhere.

They are the voted the Top Doughnuts in Denver. Good for you, City Doughnuts. You beat most competitors... I'm talking to you, Voodoo Doughnuts, and the beloved chain shop (Lamars) on their website, they quote, and I repeat: "These are doughnuts that will take you back to your childhood, with scores of cake..." I was impressed and was definitely worth seeing what they had: my favorite of assorted glaze, red velvet, swirls, and creamy goodness filled. Oh my god! They also sell the famous best bear claw and long johns. I was impressed with their breakfast bagel sandwiches/ croissants as well. What I ordered was mainly the Pineapple Fritter, oh so good, my favorite. The Chocolate Frosted Twist and the cinnamon rolls.

I mean, it's donuts. I don't think I've ever met a donut I didn't like. They are not warm and fresh or mind blowing but it's a donut when you crave one & it's close. Was a bit disappointed that there was no wonderful donut smell when we walked in early Saturday. Prime time for a fresh donut had these been made on site, which I don't think these are. Will always support a neighborhood place, just wish this was better.

Mido was amazing! We had such a great experience at city Donuts. He made my daughter feel special on her birthday. It was our first time in and we will come back again!

One of the friendliest establishments I've ever been to. 10/10 customer service, 10/10 doughnut quality. Will definitely be back anytime I need to pick up a dozen or two for work. The establishment had an excellent doughnut smell when I walked in. Obviously doughnuts were made on-site and fresh in the morning.

I love love love this place! Supporting small family businesses is imperative right now so we can keep the character of our neighborhoods alive. Eating a lot of donuts is equally important. They always have yummy, fresh, non sickly-sweet donuts that are light and airy. I'm a sucker for glazed donuts and they have several types that never disappoint. Go in early so you can get your pick, they sell out fast!

Possibly my favorite donut shop in Denver. There are two locations of these but I like going to the one on E Colfax. It's usually never busy in there and the donuts are so delicious. Try it and you won't regret. Enjoy!

This donut shop is probably the closest to our house which is definitely an added bonus when you decide last minute that you want donuts. Also, there's never a line which is another added bonus when you usually travel to donut shops with children that are 3 and 6. They have traditional flavors done well. Don't go here looking for crazy toppings. Do go here for consistently soft and delicious donuts that you can get quickly. The price is reasonable and the people working here have always been pleasant. I don't know what more you could ask for from a small donut place.

Delicious apple fritter! I ordered a dozen to drop off for my car guys but only sampled this flavor myself. I'll be back to try more, pretty great selection.

Oh, good God of donuts in heaven. Gimme better parking and I'll give YOU 5 stars. However, I can walk after all, and these donuts are amazing and well worth it! Fave post leg day treatsies are the glazed donut bites. So chewy and I'm really going out on a limb here to say it's the best glaze EVER known to glazed donuts. Staff is always friendly and store is always clean. You also can't beat the price!

The donuts? Amazing. The Coffee? Perfection. The service? 11/10. The Vibes? Straight up vibing. The parking? Accessible. Def coming here again.

Stopped by today and got the last of their donuts at 11AM. Busy on the weekend but you can order donuts ahead of time.

Forget the new age donuts and go old school at city donut. So glad we stopped here and living near by, this will be getting my donut cravings from here on.

These donuts are delicious! One of the best maple bars I have ever had - not to sweet and pillowy soft and light! There were 6 of us who visited City Donuts after a nice healthy walk on a Sunday morning - I know, sort of defeats the purpose, but we saw a mom and her kids in the park munching on them and had to get our own! Everyone in our group had something different and none of us were disappointed, well one of us was, but that was because they were out of all of their filled varieties and so we'll just have to go back. These donuts taste like they look! The chocolate cake donut was moist and chocolatey, the rainbow sprinkles were thick enough that my grand daughter was in heaven and the apple filling in a bear claw was apparently really yummy because my daughter was trying to talk her husband out of it after she got a taste. We'll be back!

Amazing for breakfast or a snack. The donuts are great and FRESH! The customer service was perfect.

I will only leave my house at 6 am with my hair sticking up for one thing.. a good donut. City donuts did not disappoint. If I wouldn't go into a sugar coma I'd eat two more. The donuts are perfectly textured, soft and fluffy. The glaze is even and does not overwhelm you. I tried the glazed and chocolate glazed. I prefer the glazed..but I ate both. These donuts are worth seeing the sunrise with a yummy treat.

Suggestions for improving your Monday morning: head to City Donuts, buy a half dozen of the baker's choice, eat AT LEAST two donuts before starting your work day. I did the very thing this past Monday and I'm happy to report that it was a most fabulous start to my week. City Donuts has two locations--their OG shop in Aurora and their newer Denver spot on Colfax. I can only speak about their location on the 'fax, and I think it's just so cute. This adorable little shop is red and yellow inside with fun donut designs and the tables are painted with fake sprinkles. It sort of feels like you've walked into a time warp back to childhood, and I'm into it. As I mentioned, I let the gal working at the shop pick five awesome donuts for me (she rocked it). Their boxes are fun and say "you deserve at donut"--I'll definitely be using these as a gift or fun addition to a meeting ASAP. I might add that prices are great here--in a world of fancy pants artisanal donuts, I was so happy to see donuts with a reasonable (read: about $1 each) price tag. I was lucky enough to meet the owner, Sam, who is just a gem. He worked at Winchell's for 12 years before opening his own shop and definitely knows his stuff. This is the sort of business that I just love supporting--get yourself here, 'cause you deserve a donut!

One son prefers VooDoo donuts for their Oreo-covered novelties, however, the rest of us think City Donuts has far-better donuts. Their chocolate frosting is the bomb! Friendly service, too, but get there early-ish if you want a selection!

Just went here. Yeah it's donuts but it was awesome. Very friendly and very good. Much rather go to a locally owned haunt then another Washington-based place. I'm a twice a month donut guy and this will be my place for the foreseeable future. THANK YOU!

We loved this place! I had a fritter and a chocolate covered twist. My partner had a cookies and cream and glazed. I'd recommend yeast donuts-they were so fresh. Can't wait to go back!

I started going here because it's near my home and they have a good selection of fresh and tasty donuts. But that's not the best of it. Every person who works there (that I've met) is super friendly. I'm glad to have this place in my neighborhood.
