Citi Grill Review - Jersey City - New York - The Infatuation

"Citi Grill has a couple small tables, but this West African spot in McGinley Square is best used as a delivery option when you want something with more complex spices than a plain slice with red pepper flakes. Our favorite dish is the salty, extremely tender michoui lamb that’s served on the bone with a side of plantains that melt when you bite into them. But no matter what you order, you’re going to get a lot of food for around $15." - Matt Tervooren

We've dined at City Grill 3 or 4 times since its recent change of ownership, and we're thrilled that the restaurant's maintained its high standards and wonderful cuisine! Larry took very good care of us and I enjoyed probably the best prepared piece of halibut I've ever experienced!

We eat here multiple times a month and have NEVER been disappointed! Steve runs a tight ship as general floor manager and the wait staff are ON TOP OF IT! They have the best chefs (dinner and pastry) in town. Check them out!

My partner and I visited tonight for our Valentine’s dinner and our experience was nothing short of wonderful! Mike was our server and he was attentive, knowledgeable, and so personable. The Hightower, Espresso Martini, and Limoncello Collin’s from the bar were great drinks with stand-out flavor profiles. We ordered the Baked Feta appetizer and we couldn’t get over how good it was. The Surf and Turf my boyfriend got was great! The filet was cooked perfectly and was so tender and his shrimp were equally well prepared. For my entree, I ordered a snapper with crab and a beurre blanc that was delightful! It was moist while still very well cooked and so buttery in texture and flavor. Our roasted veggies were awesome and the Brussels are a must! Each staff member we interacted with were so friendly! We will definitely return, and we are so grateful for our experience today!

We are new to the area and have been hearing so much about City Grill. So we made reservations and we were very pleased with the experience. The atmosphere is very classy, but relaxed. The service was very attentive, knowledgeable about their specials. and made great suggestions. The food was exceptionally good! You have to try the fig pastry, it’s a must. We had a party of 7 and we were seated right on time. I would highly recommend City Grill and we will definitely be returning soon.

Ate here for dinner recently for my wedding anniversary. It’s a very nice, relaxed space. Dress code is casual. The service was very attentive and efficient, if a bit rushed - entrees came almost immediately once we were done eating our appetizers. Before we were done eating our entrees we were asked about dessert. Would have liked a bit of time between courses. The food was nice. Best course was appetizers - that’s where they have the most options. Especially liked the fig and cheese appetizer and the smoked salmon was delicious with wonderful small pieces of bread. Overall it was nice but given the prices definitely a special occasion place.

Waitress was amazing! Food was delicious! Make a reservation! You can choose outside dining, which we prefer! Brie with honey and almonds, classic, crab cake were the apps we delighted in. The main courses of our choices were the filet, perfected by the Chef! The scallops, and pasta with mushrooms and spinach was a bit more spicy than I prefer, but don't let it discourage you from the meal. Scallops were perfect! Salmon with shredded and seared Brussel sprouts and fingerling potatoes, just the whole time everyone was smiling and enjoying! This place is pricey but worth every penny1

Potatoes tasted old We ate breakfast there. Also it was loud and the wait for the food was long. Child was screaming because he was hungry. I told the owner when he came to apologize about the noise from the child that I couldn’t eat the potatoes they tasted like they were old. He became upset and wanted to bring me some more. I told him no that that was going all right. I couldn’t eat the first batch so I doubt it if I could eat anymore. he brought them out anyway because he seemed insulted that I should complain. I tasted a few because he insisted. they tasted old. Also, he was very insulted that I should say something about his food. I’m sorry not sorry he didn’t even offer to take the potatoes off of our bill. I won’t be back.

This is the nicest restaurant in Montgomery. Great food, innovative menu concepts but they keep the 'old favorites" too. Great wine list and penultimate service. You have to try it!
