Well, it has a lot of bricks 🧱, concrete but there are trees 🌴 with sculptres and benches. It also has a playground and a circle ⭕. A concert was performing there. Very spacious! According to Wikipedia, depending on how much you trust this website, the architectural firm Kallmann McKinnell & Knowles designed the plaza in 1962 to accompany Boston's new City Hall. This is actually the second 🥈 plaza. The completion and reopening occurred in November 2022. I found it an interesting place to explore but needing more greenery to softening the overall look.

Visited Boston City Hall Plaza on the 4th of July, and it was such a great experience! The whole place is clean, open, and beautifully maintained — perfect for a walk. With the Independence Day parade and celebrations happening, the energy around the plaza was amazing.

When they have an event or gathering of some kind, its nice to have. The problem is, it seems 90% of the time that isn't happening and its just a lot of concrete and empty space that seeming could be used for something better.

Google
Spectacular view of the city, as well as the surrounding historic areas of the Freedom Trail. Lots of events going on here, and food trucks. There are plenty of seating areas and open green space.

Yelp
Such A fun time during the winter !!!! Ice skating, snow playing and hot cocoa to set off the season. I would definitely come here if you're in the area during winter

Yelp
Multi-level open air space surrounding Boston's city hall with lots of space, stairs and access to the subway. Surprisingly, there wasn't much happening during my recent visit, likely due to the Summer down season, but a few cleverly placed artful greenspace pieces made it a nice place to walk through.

Yelp
Nice spot to see the city and relax. They often host events here, I visited for the Boston Night Market where they had many food trucks and stalls set up for the event. The plaza is also close to Faneuil Hall and Quincy Market, as well as the Government Center subway stop.

Yelp
A big, open wasteland of bricks. They have concerts here sometimes, but mostly it's just a barren plaza for commuters to walk through. Surrounds Boston City Hall, a building where local government workers go to sit around and get paid to do nothing.
