21+ over are the best ice times...if offered, to avoid the little ones. Unfortunately, seems like they only offer it during off season.
During the 7:30-9:45pm public session on 12/29/18 between 8:20-9pm, a man decided to collide into me. As a result, he knocked the wind out of me. Thus, I am in shock because I am on the ground and he is not. He asked me repeatedly, " Are you alright?" I laid on the ground in pain. He claims, "I tried to get to my daughter."
As for myself, I was skating in the main direction flow. He decided to cut through the center. Unfortunately, this man did not apologize. Plus, he seemed to blame it on his daughter.
After asking for ice, I spoke to the skate guard and management representative. Apparently, this management rep seemed like he lacked customer service training. After skating for 40 years in various rinks from Ice Capades Chalet in Brea, CA to Mennen Sports Arena in Morristown, NJ, the management team at CNA seemed to lack customer service training, policies/procedures, and ice skating safety standards. For example, when I suggested orange cones (clearly visible) around the center, Justin replied "well, the session is almost over...we tried that and the kids seem to play with them."
After 4 years of my PhD classes at UNLV in Educational Leadership with an emphasis in Workforce Education (before it was cut by Governor Gibbons), I realized this maybe the time to finally put this knowledge, these skills, and abilities to use. Thus, I asked him what would he have done. In addition, since it happened at the beginning of my skate (thank God I asked for a receipt), I asked for a free pass. Since the irresponsible man took off and the pain started to set in from my thigh and shoulders, this ice time was not fruitful. Plus, it seems like an urgent care visit would be a good idea.
To the man who knocked the wind out of me, you may want to consider reviewing your responsibilities as a male and apologize when you collide with a female. Furthermore, you may reconsider blaming your daughter. In addition, you may want to stick around to file an incident report or possibly show your daughter you are responsible for your actions. Plus, you might consider practicing compassion, empathy, and ethics as your NYE resolution. Hence, you may benefit from reviewing the knowledge/skills/abilities of respecting others e.g. treat others the way you would want to be treated.
To CNA management, you may consider retraining your staff on customer service, policies and procedures, ice skating safety standards, and taking a field trip to other indoor ice rinks like SoBe Ice at Fiesta Rancho and LVIC regarding their staff education and practices.
In conclusion, as the customer, you may want to consider more seasoned ice rinks for your health and safety. Have a great NYE weekend and enjoy the last of 2018. Almost forgot, thank you CNA for letting me utilize my PhD classes.
