City Of Cocktail - mixology classes Palo Alto

Kevin and Monica host this mixology class at their home in Palo Alto, and it is sooo much fun! The evening includes teaching how to make 4 drinks total and a few home-made pizzas! Thanks to Kevin, I now realize I like old-fashioned and know how to make my own! Strong drinks, delicious food, fun people and environment make it all a great experience. I went with a social group, and their specialty is corporate team building, so I would definitely want to try this w/ my coworkers one day! I'll be asking a friend to try this for an upcoming birthday or maybe St Patty's Day. I hear they do holiday-themed drinks ;)

Fun mocktail and personal pizza making classes. The guy has some good sense of humor joking about the bartenders job, tipping and restaurant business. Such classes make a a good team building activity.

An evening filled with with laughter, learning, and (obviously) liquor !! We attended a get together with some friends and were blown away by host Kevin's knowledge and humor as he effortlessly educated us in creating some of our favorite cocktails. Kevin is an experienced bartender and school teacher (who woulda thunk that combo existed) and they provide all liquor, tools and equipment you need. The venue was awesome with great acoustics and music, it can hold up to 60 people but we were much smaller leading to a very personalized, delightful time. Hire them if you want to have a fun-filled evening making alcoholic or non-alcoholic beverages, get a lesson in bar lingo, eat some delicious food and just hang out with friends or workmates! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!

We had an amazing time celebrating our friends birthday with City Of Cocktail! We made some great drinks and pizza! Definitely a great idea for parties or work functions!

It was a seamless process with booking reached out to Amy the event coordinator, super easy to work with. Kevin the instructor and owner was what made this event so much fun! The stories, the jokes really made the event so much fun! He is really knowledgeable and really helped the group make some really delicious drinks like an old fashion and cosmo! Highly recommend coming and booking with them!

Kevin recently hosted us for a mixology and pizza making class. We were a rather large group, but Kevin and his wife made us feel right at home. The mixology course was wildly entertaining and informative, and the pizza (made in a home made pizza oven!) was delicious. There's lots of space to mingle, and don't forget to ask about the mulberry trees!

The class struck a wonderful balance of feeling homey and welcoming, while also giving us expert-level training. I was expecting to learn a couple of mainstream cocktail recipes, but instead learned four high end cocktail recipes in addition to insights into the beverage industry! Highly recommend.

Amazing drinks and fun stories filled a relaxing and unforgettable night! Do-it-yourself oven roasted pizza tasted super good. Ideal venue for a group outing.

One of the best team building event that I attended! And many of coworkers said so. We booked a 3 drinks mixology lesson and make-your-own-pizza adds-on. The team has a lot of fun at the event. Kevin made the mixology class really interactive and fun and informative. We were also surprised by the pizza we made - would have to admit that the wood fire pizza oven made a huge difference. It was quite special to attend an event at Kevin and Monica's . They made their home/backyard/work space very comfortable and cozy. Would recommend it to anyone hosting company team building event.

We had an amazing experience celebrating my daugheter's 17th birthday with Kevin and Amy's Mixology class. Every detail was taken care of. First girls learned to do 2 classic mocktails complete with orange peel garnish. Even my 14 yr old son enjoyed that part. Kevin gave us little tips on how to pour, mix, add ice. Then girls made their own pizzas from the dough that was prepared in advance by Amy that were later baked in the real pizza oven. While waiting for the pizzas girls relaxed in the beautiful back yard and took some gorgeous pictures. Finally the evening ended with one more mocktail, some more pictures and lots of memories! It was relaxed, very enjoyable and took all the stress out of hosting a kids birthday party. I would love to do this again and highly recommend!

I wish there was a 0 star. The attitude of the owner (Amy) and their whole list of obnoxious rules didn't make us comfortable at all. She mentioned about Feline on premise post full payment and when we requested for refund for 1 person (who has allergy) she did not respond at all. There is no phone number, they ask to correspond only on email. When she ghosted us by not replying our refund email - I mentioned this to be unprofessional where she replied `we (customers) are unprofessional to request for refund`?! Even requesting for refund is unprofessional? I will not recommend this place at all - the owner is not professional at all and kills the team building event experience. She has nasty rules, headache to work some in-house made booking process ! Also - even though they mentioned about no refunds - we emailed to check if we can be refunded for 2 more folks (in addition to Feline allergy) as they were tested positive - even checking for this she bashed back in anger! What is a harm to humbly ask if there is a possibility?

I decided to celebrate my birthday Here with friends and family. This is at someone's home. I was a little nervous at first since all communication is through email and I only had previous reviews to go by. Once there Kevin and Monica made the event educational and fun. The drinks were good, the pizza was delicious and my friends and family had a good time. I am happy I decided to have my party here. Thank you again for a wonderful time.

My friends and I went on a San Francisco networking trip this past weekend. During our trip we got to take Kevin and Monica's mixology cocktail class! It was so much fun and we learned how to make a Cosmopolitan, a Long Island iced tea, and a good old fashioned drink! I don't think I'll ever go to another bar again after learning how to make new drinks. If your in the area definitely check out City of Cocktail hosted by Kevin and Monica Lynch ! Kevin and Monica are the best! They made the craft of cocktail making approachable and fun. Their pizza was just as tasty as their drinks. There's also non-alcoholic spirits so you can still enjoy your drink without getting (too) tipsy! Would recommend anyone in the area to take a class with your friends/colleagues.

I found it through yelp for team outing idea and was not disappointed. Make sure you lock your slot fast as someone grabbed my first option slot just before I was about to pay. Luckily I was able to lock the 2nd option slot right away. We have party of 10: 8 for cocktails and 2 for mocktails for non alcohol sprint. The location is in a private home in Palo Alto surrounding by mulberry trees and orange trees. We are asked to arrive on time as they have next event right after ours. Kevin taught us to make 3 drinks: London cosmopolitan, Old fashion Whisky and Tommy's Margarita. It was fun and entertaining workshop for 1.5 hr and everyone had a great time! Thanks Kevin and Monica! Highly recommend if you are looking for something different for a team building or a group gathering event!

Everything about the attitude of the middle school teacher that runs this place sucks. If he treats his paying customers so condescendingly, one can only imagine how he treats his seventh grade students. Totally unwarrantedly, he accused me of making an extra drink than allowed when that was not the case. What a cheap jerk!

We had a great time at the cocktail making class. Their home is beautiful, the drinks were good, and the homemade fire oven pizza was delicious. I just recently hosted a Google team event at City of Cocktail, and I am so happy that I found them! The instructors were friendly, funny, and very accommodating. The setting was very cozy and inviting as well. I received many positive comments and feedback from my team and how much they enjoyed the venue and activity. I would highly recommend this business for any type of event!

This is the second time we went with our company to City of Cocktail. It's really a great experience. Kevin and Monica are fantastic hosts. I came here with my husband's coworkers on a Friday night. They had a cute cheetah cone to show where they were, in a house on a circle. I have no experience with alcoholic drinks, so this was brand new to me. We went around a table with work stations for 2 each. He instructed us with clarity and gave us some good tips on how to make the drinks "fancy". Luckily, we weren't forced to drink everything, because there was a lot of vodka. My favorite part was the pizza oven in the front yard. It was so delicious that I made a second one. At the end, they gave us some mulberry jam! I can't wait to eat it. This is a great place for team building and I recommend the spot.

I was looking for an end of the year team celebration activity and found City of Cocktail on yelp. Kevin was responsive with all my questions at the beginning, and super patient with all the last minutes changes I had to make. Kevin and Monica really cared and wanted us to have a good time. Aside from all of the fun facts he has in his back pocket, Kevin is a great teacher explaining how those cocktail tool sets work and how to make fancy garnish. We made 6 cocktails in total and some fresh roasted pizza in between to fill the hungry stomach. Everyone had a blast and kept telling me this is so far the best team bonding activity they have done!

I recently had the opportunity to visit the City of Cocktail as part of a team-building event and I have zero regrets. Actually, maybe one - that I couldn't start over and do it again. We had a chance to learn how to make five cocktails (Cosmopolitan, Negroni, Boulevardier, Margarita and Old Fashioned). I don't know if they're the same for each visit or customized based on class but it's still an incredible experience. We also splurged for the package where you can make your own pizza. This was equally cool because you're cooking it in a wood-burning stove in the back. The facilities were clean and organized and Kevin was a kind, fun, engaging instructor who really made you feel at ease. Planning and organization was a snap. Kevin was super responsive to all my questions and concerns - and we were down to the wire in pulling this off. But he was calm, cool and helped get it done. Don't drink? Don't worry - we had a few people in our group who chose to partake in the activity of creating but not imbibing. No one received a Level 8 Look of Judgement from Kevin or anyone else in our team. The experience was affordable for our group of 13 and it really helped us all connect in a new way making memories that will definitely last. Also, you leave with a new level of respect for those in the bartending industry. All in all, this was a worthy experience that I'd highly recommend doing if you have the opportunity.

Went here for a corporate team bonding event. Had so much fun! The owners were very nice, welcoming, and knowledgeable. Great place as well- very clean and organized layout. We also got to make pizzas as a midway snack and they cooked it in a pizza oven. So fun! Highly recommend!! Great vibes!

Our mid week Mixology Class was just what I needed! Kevin had great energy and was very engaging. We learned how to make 3 cocktails and garnish. I'm looking forward to impressing my friends and family with when we begin entertaining again. I highly recommend this for your next team building event or unique idea for a girls night!

Our experience with City of Cocktail has been awful. We returned a signed contract and then they requested a payment in excess of what it should be. I requested a revised payment, which they then ignored. While waiting to hear back from them they scheduled another event completely ruining our event that we had planned for. Their professionalism and customer service is awful. They have been terrible to work with.

Monica and Kevin hosted the most wonderful team event for us! I'm already putting Kevin's lessons in cocktail making and bartending to good use and the personalized pizzas we made in their hand-crafted pizza oven turned out phenomenally! They gracefully (and deliciously!) accommodated my allergies to Gluten and Casein (cheese)... not an easy feat when pizza is on the menu! They offered a mocktail-making alternative, which was excellent and made the event fun and inclusive for all! The event was held in their beautiful home - the perfect setting to get the team out of 'work mode' and into relaxing and catching up with one another. Overall, a 10/10 fun and relaxing activity for family, friends, or co-workers, hosted on by the most gracious and personal teachers!

We hired Kevin and his associate to host an hour long session for a 59th bday party with approx. 7 total couples. City of Cocktail was a fantastic experience through and through. While I am not someone who typically writes reviews, I am compelled to do so because of the quality. Kevin was very professional and fun. Our entire group of adults and young adults both thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Kevin and his wife used multiple camera angles, he knew when to mute the crowd and when not to. We were laughing the entire time and I would not change a thing. Lastly, I would be remiss if I did not mention how professional Kevin's communication was. Not only was the actual happy hour great, he was a pleasure to work with leading up to the event.

I have wanted to do a review and found a little time today. A attended a team building event a few months ago and it was absolutely worth every minute. Kevin teaches a great mixology workshop. I made drinks I never tasted before and it opened up a whole new world in spirits and whiskeys for me. Our team had so much fun in a relaxing environment. The workshops are conducted in a home environment with a patio and even a bonus pizza meal! I must say, I loved the pizza oven. We missed mulberry season so we didn't get to enjoy the mulberry trees, but maybe next time. If you ever want to do something different for date night or team events, this is the place to go! I just wish I left my review sooner so that I could show my appreciation.

I've been to lots of cooking classes... and lots of bars... a great chef doesn't necessarily make a great teacher. Kevin and Monica are veteran teachers (they taught swing dance classes years ago!) and they know how to keep their beginning mixologists active throughout the evening. This class is such a great deal: so many glasses and bottles were set up for all of us, along with a flaming hot pizza oven. We learned how to cut decorative garnishes to add to our margarita, negroni, Ramos fizz, Paper Plane, and the dessert flavored White Russian. I would definitely recommend this class to those of us who love to experience an active evening with friends. You will learn something, while having a great time.

I came here with my coworkers for a team building today and it was a blast! We had 12 people, great size of this type of activities. It was a 4-hour session that includes making 6 different cocktail drinks and learning to make your own pizza. They built a stone oven at the patio and get your pizza baked fresh.. amazing experience. Highly recommend to anyone who is looking for a fun and creative team building activity in Palo Alto.

My friend and I attended the Valentine's Mixology class on Friday night. Kevin & Monica were such gracious hosts, opening their home to 16 couples eager to learn how to mix some tasty drinks. We started off with a classic Cosmopolitan. Then the color changing Love Potion which had Tequila, Vodka, & Rum. The magic happens when you add the lime juice to the blue simple syrup. Voila! It changes from blue, to purple then pink. So cool! Definitely had a kick with all the alcohol in it. My favorite drink of the night was the Scarlett O'Hara. It had Southern Comfort, Cranberry Juice & Lime Juice. In a double rocks glass we put a large square ice cube and spun it to soften the edges. Then we torched a cinnamon stick with a butane torch. Bam! Dropped the stick in the glass to give it a smoky flavor. This was my favorite drink of the night Monica & Kevin served some awesome homemade pizza from their pizza oven too. Very tasty! The red, green & yellow peppers with olives was soooooo yummy. Hope to be back again and learn some more drinks to up my amateur bartender and mixology skills.

My group of 16 had an amazing time here. Echoing what some others have said, it was really easy planning and coordinating with Kevin prior to the event. Once we arrived, Kevin and Monica were extremely warm and welcoming. Everything was very well thought out -- from the name cards at each station to the precisely timed pizza break. It makes perfect sense that Kevin is a school teacher because he walked us through each step of the process with care and made us feel comfortable the entire time. Would highly recommend this event!

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed Mixology 101 with Kevin and his crew. The class had 8 people total. They were extremely well prepared with individual stations, each setup with the liquor, shakers, fruit, etc. We started off with a simple quiz to warm us up. Kevin then proceed to show us cocktail after cocktail. For each drink he would make it first, and then we made our own. About half of them were new to us. Kevin is very knowledgeable and was able to answer almost any question we threw at him. Along the way we were treated to some delicious pizza from their home-built wood fired pizza oven! Kevin and his wife were hospitable, friendly, and warm. A very fun adult evening for my wife and I!

We really enjoyed our introduction to making cocktails with Kevin. When we arrived, we were given appetizers and drinks before the class began. The prep area for the cocktails were well organized with the glasses, bottles, sodas, and juices to be used stocked up. Before we began, we were also served fresh pizza which was delicious. To begin class, Kevin asked us our familiarity with different types of cocktails. He then proceeded to introduce each cocktail we were going to make. Although we made a few mistakes, he was encouraging and gave constructive feedback. For some of the cocktails, he gave a brief history of how and where the cocktail was first made. Throughout the class, he made us feel very comfortable and relaxed. We thoroughly enjoyed the class and would suggest this class to friends who are interested in learning to make cocktails or for a great small group night out.
