On the Grid : Calder Plaza

"American sculptor Alexander Calder created what became the recognizable symbol of Grand Rapids. Located in front of city hall, "La Grande Vitesse" (meaning "the great swiftness") is a monumental, site-specific sculpture. Since it's installation in 1969, it has been the center of a well-attended art festival that occurs downtown every summer. The annual Festival of the Arts is credited with creating an appreciation for public art within the community and opening the way to Art Prize." - Fairly Painless

I went to the county clerks office. It was ok. Customer service skills of the staff leaves a little room to be desired. They were not rude per say just very direct and Kurt. Makes you feel like you are wasting their time even when you have a legit purpose for your visit. I did manage to get 2 copies of my birth certificate for the price of one. 💪

It was amazing there, the people of Grand Rapids are very welcoming and know how to party!!!! GR Pride 2022 was fabulous 🥰 The queens stole everyone's breath, LGBTQIA+ family and Allies were dressed up and looked stunning.......Especially the very pretty person in the pinstripe pants and horns 😉😘🥰 I hope this encourages more to come out next time, whether your family, or an ally, or just someone that feels the need to show love for another Valid, Deserving, Loved, and proud human being!!!!! You are welcomed!!!!!!! That much I can guarantee! Happy Pride month and stay safe.

Calder Plaza host many events and does a fantastic job at it. It is spacious and athletically pleasing. When there aren’t events, the area is typically empty which makes for great photos/videos.

It was a beautiful day for Grand Rapids to have their color run 5k race... Thousands of people entered in the race and it appeared they all had a great time... It was pretty dusty though with all the colored powder...

To many non EV's are allowed to park here without repercussions. EV Infrastructure is scarce, non EV's blocking access to chargers should be towed immediately.

Fun place for a festival however it would be nice if they had a bathroom option outside of poorly maintained portable toilets.

A perfect open space for any event tucked away inside beautiful downtown Grand Rapids! This is also a great location for Pokemon Go.

The cops in the city are out of control and dangerous. If you value your safety, avoid this city at all costs and spend your tax dollars elsewhere
