"Cider fans, rejoice. Houston’s freshest cidery, City Orchard, is here. Opt for the Mr. Green, made with Greening apples, or the sparkling King Blossom with a side of warm and fluffy apple fritters. Don’t worry beer drinkers, there are a couple of brews on tap as well, including its light Belgian blonde Brass Hat and its Tin Lizard IPA." - Sean Hekmat, Brittany Britto Garley, Megha McSwain

Yelp
Very cute brewery - variety options ranging from fruity ciders to beers. Very cute and small place with around ~40 seats combined for indoor and outdoor. Fun place to just hang out. Has different events on certain nights like Drag Shows, Trivia, Comedy Shows, Paint and Sips & more. A nice local place to check out.

Suzie E.

Yelp
This place was awesome! The drinks were good and that's cheese pizza was the best! Services was good, it was the type where you order at the bar. Also we went on a Friday night and they had comedy show and it was good. Something to do on a Friday night! Plus they have happy hour all day! Truly enjoyed!

Kevin B.

Yelp
We stopped in here for some drinks while visiting a good friend in Houston and this was an excellent stop. The taproom was fairly spacious, which was good since it was their trivia night and it was packed. We were able to snag some seats at the bar and we ordered a flight of ciders, all of which were very good. They were very refreshing and weren't cloyingly sweet, which was very nice to see. We weren't able to try any food as we had more places to go, but it looked good from what we could see. We would definitely come back here!

Yelp
We decided to try a new hard cider and was pleasantly surprised City orchard was sin Houston! It's centrally located but felt remote. It was a rainy day so there weren't many patrons but they usually have fun events going throughout the week. We tried the plum cider, loaded fries, sliders, and silver tip cider. I typically like a dry cider and my partner doesn't but we both enjoyed the plum cider, and he was actually okay with the silver. We took those two to go (4 pk is $10). We also tried the Mr. Green which was our favorite but it's not available to purchase to go :( The fries were tasty and turned out to be way more than we anticipated so we took the sliders to go! Overall a great experience and we plan to come back soon

Erin P.

Yelp
I came here for a Sofar Sounds Concert ad tried a flight. All of the ciders were good and they really have something for everyone. My favorite cider was the Lavender Royale. If you're a lover of lavender lattes like me, you'll definitely like this. The bartenders were fantastic! There is plenty of seating and there is a nice patio outside for when it's not so hot. Overall, would recommend.

Kristin J.

Yelp
I just visited city Orchard a couple of days ago. I love that they have fun events going on weekly! The ciders are also delicious. I ended up trying the flight in which you get to pick four different ciders. My favorite cider was Mrs. Green. The staff were so friendly and welcoming, and the atmosphere is very chill, "home like" feeling. I will be coming back here again soon! Highly recommend

Haley F.

Yelp
Super cute inside! Plus good cider and good service! We tried the lavender royale cider and the brass hat Belgian blonde. Both were great!

Dan A.

Yelp
Great cider brewery in Houston! The taproom serves ciders and beers in a beautiful space near I-10 and Studemont. The brewery also serves food items and hosts game nights. I was interested in trying their traditional ciders and was pleasantly surprised by the crisp taste. Five stars for the service, space and fun drink options.

Moira B.

Yelp
This place is so so cute! I absolutely loved the airy vibe and style. The ciders were decent. I got a flight and really liked 2 of them (barrel aged cider and king blossom), thought one was ok (Lavender Royale), and really did not like the 4th (spiked cranberry) which I had high expectations for. But I love that you can do flights so you can try a few things! I also got the sliders which were really good but the wait time was an HOUR! They were super busy for trivia so that's probably not the norm. Overall, great experience and I would love to come back to try more of their ciders!

Patsy R.

Yelp
An absolute must visit! The space is gorgeous ~ the giant tree sculpture in the center of the bar is truly stunning. The ciders are better than your average cider - they almost taste like Belgium lambics. I'm not normally a cider enthusiast but I'm enthusiastic about these! We tried several ciders and loved them all- the lavender one made from Hill Country lavender- truly unusual and somehow delicious (did not sound appetizing at first). Loved the green apple. Food was solid- we split a panini- yummy warm and crispy bread and high quality ingredients inside. Service was friendly and efficient and very helpful. Can't wait to come back!

Charlene P.

Yelp
Fun place! Great ciders. Food and drinks was delivered quickly. Our food was a phenomenal!

Justin T.

Yelp
City Orchard is one of those places I like to visit when I want something a little different than my normal choice of beer or cocktails. This place specializes in ciders. With a city as large as Houston, we just don't have alot of cideries like some of our Northern states. City Orchard use juices from apples pressed in New York and then they ferment and make the ciders here. Pretty cool! They also brew their own beers now as well that can be enjoyed in their taproom. Speaking of taprooms, they have on of the prettiest taprooms in the city with all the fancy woodwork and gorgeous bar. The outdoor patio and deck are also a great hangout spot as well. As far as the ciders go, I tried a few of their year round ciders that was all delicious in their own little ways. Depending on what mood you are in, I guarantee you will find a cider that will make you happy. I will definitely be back when in the area.

Yelp
This was our second visit to City Orchard and overall we had a good time. I really liked 2 of the 4 ciders in my flight, but didn't think any of them were bad. The Mr. Green was my favorite because of its tartness! My husband wasn't impressed with his cider saying it didn't really have much of a taste. We ordered two burger meals, but initially only received one as there seemed to have been a mix up, but we did eventually get the second meal. I thought the burger was SUPER good. It comes w/ some yummy extras like cheese and grilled onions. The burger patty was moist and not overdone and the bun was warm and soft. The pomme frites were solid - seasoned very well and the perfect amount of crisp. Unfortunately this batch of Brussels sprouts was bitter, so while the preparation w/ flash frying is probably good, it seemed the sprouts themselves were the problem. One difference we noticed this time was that there weren't servers visiting the tables to take orders like the first time we went there. We sat at the table outside expecting a server for a while before realizing we needed to go inside and order at the bar. Overall, though, it's a pretty cute spot with a nice esthetic, decent ciders, and decent snacks/food. I also saw several folks w/ young kids there, so seems family friendly.

Moriah H.

Yelp
I recommend this place. The staff and manager/owner is so friendly and a accommodating. I made a huge water mess last night due to my puppy being unruly and they were so kind when it happened. I did not try the food. My mead was outstanding (and I drink a lot of it due to my partner brewing it)! Will go back again. Parking was easy.

Lee L.

Yelp
Hosted a baby shower here and everything was perfect. The staff were very accommodating and took care of everything. Everyone raved about the food. The pizza, pretzels, and wings were all outstanding. Everyone had a great time. I would absolutely recommend this place. The ambiance is lovely with both outdoor and indoor seating available. You can't go wrong! Stop by and give it a try or considering having an event here.

Chelle N.

Yelp
Great atmosphere with indoor and outdoor seating. Food is just ok. I enjoy their ciders, very light and refreshing. So glad I found this little gem.

Christa W.

Yelp
Food was delicious and the atmosphere was fun and inviting. They had games to play and even give you a score card to have fun rating your tasting!

Josh H.

Yelp
A great spot to enjoy many different ciders with a group of friends. We came here for a Thursday night trivia and try out the place for the first time. It was during a cold front so there was no one outside. I'm not sure if they usually hold trivia indoors, however the acoustics of the place made it tough at times to clearly hear the questions while sitting about 20 ft away from the speaker. Luckily, the questions were online so we didn't have to struggle to listen. The staff and facilities were amazing and I will definitely come back here again.

Nicole W.

Yelp
I'm a fan for the vibes and cider alone! It's beautiful inside and they have a great outdoor space. They have so many different types of cider and are happy to let you try them before you decide which to get. I couldn't decide so I got a flight. The flight is a great value!

Xeremy W.

Yelp
Really appreciate the excellent atmosphere and Drinks. My favorite drinks are King Blossom and Silver Tip. My wife loves the Mr. Green. Thank you Patrick and Greg

Rae R.

Yelp
This was our FIFTH STOP after driving all over the Heights and Fourth Ward trying to find a decent place (to get some food and drink) that wasn't slammed. I can't speak to any of the entrees - we had the loaded fries and the cheese board. Both of those dishes were outstanding! We also tried a flight of cider (staff picks) and they were excellent. All the ciders we tried were on the dry side which was perfect for pairing with food. Another visit to this location will happen next time in in Houston!

Amber S.

Yelp
Came here once with a friend and once with my classmates. Got the cider flight the first time and beer flight the second! My favorite cider was the Mr. Green, followed by the Cherry Red and then the Silver Tip. I was not a fan of the King Blossom! My favorite beer was the City Stout, followed by the Tin Lizard. I'm not a huge beer person so the Rule G and Brass Hat (both Belgian ales, I believe) weren't as big of a hit for me. Overall, I prefered the cider flight, but I could tell that everything was high-quality! Pricing is fair (~$10/flight), and service has always been great. Both the indoor and outdoor space have a great ambiance. The indoor area is quite nice, and I especially love the iconic tree-like structure. The outdoor area is very spacious, though I wish there were more shaded areas!

Nathalie B.

Yelp
We went as a group of 5 on a Thursday for trivia night. It was my first time and I thought it was the cutest place. We did not wait to be seated and it's self seating. You order at the bar and they bring the food to you. I'm not big on cider but sampled a few (I recommend the flights so you can sample a few of them at a time). I ordered the charcuterie board to share and the burger. Everything was very good and brought quickly. Definitely planning on coming back during the daytime/afternoon and enjoying the outdoor seating available. It's a nice place to sit and bring your fur baby (dog-friendly establishment is always a plus in my book).

Justin T.

Yelp
The very last business I frequented before we fell into the COVID-19 shutdown was City Orchard. Hopefully, it'll also get to be one of my first on the flip side. City Orchard isn't Houston's first cidery, but this spot is absolutely doing it right. The venue offers a great mix of indoor, patio, and outdoor/lawn spaces to enjoy beverages, and their ciders explore a wide variety of ranges. In particular, I enjoyed the Silver Tip and Cherry Red. If the cider leaves you hangry, City Orchard's kitchen can hook you up. During my visit, the pomme frites and their accompanying sauces were outstanding! It would be great to see another one or two sub-$10 snacks on the menu. I see City Orchard is open during the shutdown to offer a cider-to-go service. If you haven't sampled what these folks have come up with yet and want to mix up your refrigerator, definitely consider checking them out.

Karen D.

Yelp
Came here on a weekend evening and tried the cider flight of 4. Loved the lavender cider most! It was so aromatic. All of them were good. They have a large outdoor patio area that is very COVID friendly. Service was friendly and efficient. They even offered complimentary cider apples that were surprisingly delish! Didn't get the chance to try their food, so def will be back.

Hillary B.

Yelp
I've been coming to City Orchard since they opened in 2020, it's definitely one of my favorite spots for weeknight happy hour. They have a great patio and tons of parking. The inside can get a little loud on busy nights. Each time I go, they have new ciders to try and the flight is just the right amount for a great price. The menu is limited but the food is good, I've tried the burger, pommes frites, brisket quesadillas.

Denise C.

Yelp
The atmosphere is really laid back and very inviting. The bartender was very helpful and the flight that me and my guess decided to get was very good and delightfully refreshing . Mr. Green was definitely my favorite out of all the cidars and the food was very tasty. We got the beef quesadillia and it hit the spot. There was not a big crowd which I love so it was a very intimate setting, but dont get me wrong it could be a very family friendly friend fun place as well because the outside was set up just right to have a good night or day out. This place gets two thumbs up from me because it had just the right amount of everything to make it a wonderful outing. I will definitely revisit this establishment in the future.

Morgan B.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I walked in not knowing a whole lot about cider. We're avid beer drinkers and he makes mead so we were interested to learn more. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful and the new GM was extremely nice and we talked to him a lot about beer, mead, and cider. We loved it so much we went back the next day to try more things. Can't recommend this place enough! Everything was delicious and it's a very nice relaxing place to try something new.

Moquita Q.

Yelp
I did a tik tok on this place because I was that impressed! With the service, the food, all of the ciders and most of all, the look feel and esthetic of the place! I truly felt like I was special from the moment I walked in. You can see the custom made wooden furniture and decor, very modern. I think they partner with a food truck because it seemed like that had incorporated the food truck meals into their payment system. Oh oh, yeah, back to the review! Ha ha!! I order a cheese burger in medium well with their house salad and homemade avocado ranch! The burger was juicy! Full of flavor, the caramelized onions added a nice soft sweetness to burger! The bread used for the buns was also homemade, you could taste the subtle yeast with an added sweetness. It was wheat bread. I would totally come here again! Loved the atmosphere!

Christina G.

Yelp
We came here for our first time on Saturday about 4pm. They have a very large outside patio with picnic tables that all have adjustable umbrellas. We sat outside, but there is also indoor seating...not much, but there are high ceilings and minimal bar seating too. I recommend getting a beer flight and cider flight to try it all! I truly liked almost all of them. I am very impressed. My favorite was the Silver Tip Cider and their Belgian blonde beer. The food also looked good. I didn't get any, but will definitely be back to try the food with a drink! It is also dog friendly which is a perk! Overall, my experience here was great and I will be back. It was good vibes, good drinks, good food.

Abby K.

Yelp
I love City Orchard so much. Great space - indoor and out, super dog-friendly, lovely staff, and absolutely fantastic cider. A hidden-away gem that I can't recommend enough.

Natalie F.

Yelp
A really nice place to sit outside, tucked away where you'd never guess there would be a brewery. The prices for food and drinks are great. The $10 cider flight was very generous and a great way to try some different brews. Being a sweet cider lover though, I'm not sure their flavors are for me. There were interesting flavors, for sure, but the options I was advised were sweet still tasted pretty dry. The Mr. Green was probably my favorite, and the Cherry Red my least liked (it had no strong cherry to it). We only had the charcuterie board for food, and it offered some really good cheeses and meats. While the outdoor tables in the gravel pit area were fairly spaced out, their patio ones weren't, especially considering groups of 6+ were clustered around without masks on. Between the passing trains and screaming kids, it wasn't the quietest place to enjoy an adult night out, but it was still nice.

Martha D.

Yelp
Finally a place in Houston that does ciders right!!! I am definitely a huge cider fan and I'm glad I have finally found a place I can enjoy them (there are just so many breweries in Houston and not cideries) They got a great outdoor space and the inside definitely has a clean bright and modern look! I got the flight of cider and they definitely don't have ciders that are very sweet so don't expect an angry orchard. Definitely strong and tart flavors in their ciders! Love it here!

Keisha R.

Yelp
The service was really great. Very attentive staff. The ciders were good. Even the dry cider was very good and not very dry at all. The cherry cider and the lavender/honey ciders were my favorite. The lavender one was so good. Lavender and honey in every sip. We shared fries and they were crispy. The pizza was thin crust and very cheesy my friend liked her burger too. Atmosphere was great and it has a lot of separation for social distancing outside. I will definitely return.

Emily R.

Yelp
Super excited to have a new cidery in the area! There are a couple of beers on the menu, but the menu is very cider-centric; it is a cidery after all! I got the cider flight that allowed me to try all four of City Orchard's personal brews; love that they have this flight because it is fun to try a little bit of everything. Outside of this, they feature the ciders of other local brands, so no matter what you will be supporting local. There are a couple of snacky food options there too that looked tasty. Our waiter was friendly and the space is absolutely stunning. Don't be deterred when driving there; its hidden behind a bunch of warehouses which had me confused I had the wrong place, but once I arrived, the space totally lightened up!

Porsche A.

Yelp
Cute atmosphere. Enjoyed the staff. I will need to try the other versions of ciders available. Will definitely come back.

Christie A.

Yelp
Ya'll how I live for this cidery. IT IS AMAZING. First tip: IT IS HARD TO FIND, if you're near some train tracks and it says to keep going, just keep going, haha, because it's located in a new development center off washington. As soon as you pass the shady grady, and enter the cidery, literally your eyes just drop and gaze because the architecture of the establishment is to die for, I mean we are talking, high ceilings, wood structures, the outside patio is huge and welcoming. Literally the details are stunning and great for photos. NOW THE CIDER: I got a chance to learn more about it and the cider is fermented from 25,000 gallons of apples that they transport from upstate New York, and let me tell you IT IS GOOD. You cannot go wrong with the SLIVER TAP, which they consider the OG of ciders. I mean.... its extra crispy, super light, and delightful. I also enjoyed the CHERRY RED and let me tell you, it was like a delightful rose. So light and refreshing. Now for the food, it's your typical bar food with an eloquent twist, I mean we're talking Pomme Fittes, Croque Monsieur, Duck Nicoise salad, and Creme Brulee for dessert. Ya'll everything tasted yummy and again with the detail. I'm super excited about this cidery opening up and making Houston the "Hotspot" I enjoyed it so much and can't wait to go back.

Randy C.

Yelp
Came here with a few friends. Everyone liked their drinks although 3 people all didn't like the Cherry Red saying it tasted like cough medicine. I had a glass of the Orchard Blend #11 and Mr. Green and I liked both of them. I would easily order those two ciders again.

Alysha M.

Yelp
Wasn't a fan of any of the ciders... I guess I should have done more research because I didn't know their ciders were known for being very different than most ciders. Not sweet at all, no taste of fruit... But our service was great, the fries were good, and the ambience/outdoor seating was really nice. Next time I will try the beers!

Marina H.

Yelp
The space here is amazing! Big outdoor space with tons of seating. Unfortunately it was getting dark and my pictures didn't work out. The inside is beautiful and spacious, but a bit loud even with only a few people there. The cider is pretty good, but not the best I've had. I'm hoping that in the future they come out with some unique and varied flavors. I'd love to try some other ones. They have food but I didn't have any. I will be back!

Shirley R.

Yelp
Such a great find! The place has plenty of space for social distancing inside and in their outside patio. Our waiter was super sweet and attentive. I tried their cider flight and approved of 3 out of 4 lol, one was entirely to sour for my taste. The surprise of the evening was the absolute amazing burger I had and this is coming from someone who doesn't really like burgers. In general I need a good meat to burger ratio haha, but this burger was so juicy, flavorful and the fries it came with, were equally delicious! I can't wait to go back.

Lalanica C.

Yelp
Fun space!! It can he eyes pretty loud inside but it's a good spot for large groups, they have long table benches and high tops inside, good amount of outdoor space as well. Ample parking in the lot. I'd be back for more cider and to try some of the bites as well!

Alex G.

Yelp
Great atmosphere and service! Awesome ciders and solid charcuterie. We loved that they had games as well!

Sam T.

Yelp
This place can be a bit tricky to find. GPS takes you to the parking lot that CO shares with another brewery. Ok, the ciders - they are just ok. Food is below par. Service was ok. Flights are static- meaning you can't mix and match. And they are just ok. I wanted to love this place, but I'll keep searching for a proper "cider haus" here in Houston.

Brittney T.

Yelp
I'm not much of a beer fan so when I saw a cider brewery - I had to check it out! We came on a Friday night and it was not crowded at all. Tables are properly spaced out and they have a lot of outdoor seating. We got the flights - and I was very pleased with all of them! It's definitely a casual/laid back atmosphere for some good vibes and convos. They do serve food here! It's all made in a little food truck in the back. Cool find! Can't wait to come back

Kristen H.

Yelp
The atmosphere was so wonderful outdoors, but unfortunately the service ruined our experience. We waited forever for our cider that we saw sitting on the bar for over 20 minutes before we got it. This was also after we had to wait for a good 10-15 minutes to even be greeted by our server. The cider was decent at best. Probably wouldn't return.

Sean S.

Yelp
Full disclosure, this review may not flow that well - the last review I wrote was well before the entire pandemic overtook all our lives. I did want to write this review though to provide some observations in this pandemic era as well as to give credit where credit is due. Firstly, general ambience and feel of the place was really great. Both the indoors and outdoors areas was well decorated and kept. Indoors, I'd say there are approximately 15-20 tables that fit 4-6 people. There's also a general bar area if you're by yourself, or if you'd just prefer that spot. I wasn't in there for a long time, so hopefully that's an accurate description. If anyone sees any different, let me know to update this. Outdoors there was a deck area with higher tables that could accommodate individuals that would prefer to stand although there are chairs as well. Generally speaking, sitting shoulder to shoulder, these tables accommodate 6 people. On the deck, I'd say there were approx. 8 of these tables. Finally, there is a lower, gravel backyard area where there are a couple more tables that are a bit more spaced out. Approximately another 8-10 of these tables down in this area. These tables can accommodate 6-8 I'd say. Next, staffing. All the staff wore masks both indoor and outdoors. Everyone was really helpful and professional. No complaints whatsoever on this front. Parking: There is a lot right next to the Cidery. There's a brewery when you first pull into the "plaza." Just keep driving til you see the Cidery which is in the back. Finally the drinks, what we're there for. Overall, pretty decent. I wasn't a huge fan of the Silver Tip. Seemed a bit generic to me, but it may appeal to others. Would recommend the King Blossom and if you're there for the first time, I'd suggest getting the In the Loop Cider Flight which lets you try 4 different types of cider. If they run out of a particular flavor, they'll just sub something in for you. Oh, and be sure to try the donuts that they get from a third-party vendor; they're pretty great as well. Closing thoughts: overall I enjoyed the experience. I think having ample outdoor seating is pretty key at the moment for me to go somewhere, so I was glad that was available. I would recommend that the business actually shift some more tables from the patio to the lower gravel area to provide more social distancing between tables (the patio feels pretty cramped as the tables are all next to each other).

Julia G.

Yelp
Honestly I don't get the hype... the ciders were okay, had better and had worse. The food is terrible. The kitchen is a makeshift van out back. I'm guessing this is a full bar that was forced to sell food due to covid. Had the pizza which was soggy and very very overpriced. The burger was salty. The fries were good though (granted it's hard to mess up fries). Service leaves much to be desired. They got our orders wrong but just ignored it... Bottom line: come here if you need to get out of the house but don't expect good food, drinks and service. I saw there was a beer garden next to this place that seems to be very full and popular

Clarissa V.

Yelp
This place is AMAZING! It's very open and the drinks were so good. The staff is very helpful and friendly. I order the NORTH ROSE and KING BLOSSOM both drinks were so good! I went on a Tuesday so it was a bit slow so my daughter was able to enjoy the HUGE outside area to herself. I truly enjoy it and can't wait to come back.

Jennifer M.

Yelp
Went for the ciders... wasn't much of a fan. Got two flights (all different flavors) They tasted more floral and less apple. The atmosphere was nice, servers very friendly and the food was good. Husband did get a beer and said it was very good.
