Google
Great service, good food - My husband and I were split on the food, whether it would be 3 or 5 stars. I have to say the noodles, meat and the rice were pretty good. But I can see not everyone would be a fan of their broth. The broth almost tastes like herbal drink but strangely moreish. Felt also clean and light even after finishing the whole dish. The service was exceptional - easily 5 stars. Maybe about 8~10 tables total? Part of it was a long bar style table with higher chairs. FYI, we went on Sunday evening and the group came after us had to wait about 10 mins to get seated.

Google
Awesome as always! The Royal is soooo good! The staff is great too 🙂 The chef here is the real deal! The service here is great! You couldn't ask for anything more! They added a tasting menu.... It is absolutely amazing!! I moved from Michigan to Tennessee, and I drove back here just for the food! It is truly a one of a kind masterpiece for the eyes and the taste buds!

Google
The food was good and the service was prompt and friendly. My sisters weren't too keen on the broth in their ramen. It wasn't bad but it wasn't one they would come back for, unfortunately. Also the glass display states that they have saki, beer, and wine but once inside their menu only displays non-alcoholic options. It was fine, just a little confusing. I had the pork and rice and it was really good, so I highly recommend it.

Google
An overall great experience. From the exterior to the interior decor, the restaurant is comfortable and authentic. We had the Shoyu Ramen, Miso Soup, and Rice Bowl. The Shoyu Ramen was very good. The flavors blended well together, and the duck itself was excellently cooked. The Miso Soup was interesting. Instead of the usual Miso soup, semi-clear and light, this was heavier. It was made with a soy sauce, ginger, and garlic base that made it a thick broth. It did not taste like miso soup to be fair. However, it was good as it's own dish. The rice bowl was standard jasmine rice. Prices were high. A bowl of pho is traditionally under $16; however, this was $22 The server was excellent. He was kind and incredibly attentive.

Google
Went for Dinner on a chilly week night, and was looking for that deep flavor that warms your soul. The results were just OK, not memorable. The sticky ribs were nicely done, a bit too sweet. The Royal Ramen had good flavor but very ‘porky’ taste on the broth, not as rich as you would expect, but it’s the pork belly inside that was mostly inedible as it consisted of more fat than meat. The Golden Ramen had a nice chicken like broth that was a lot lighter than the Royal Ramen. Overall the noodles were good. Would try it again.

Google
I woke my wife up to come here. That speaks for itself. This was our second time coming to this amazing spot, and when I say authentic, I mean it! Best Ramen I've ever had, and we travel the world together. Our host last time and this time both were great and attentive. Soon as we got seated (which was near immediate), water was brought out and then the drinks we ordered followed soon after. Now. The Ramen. You got options, but I 150% recommend getting the vegan one with chicken in it and their marinated eggs. That combination is phenomenal!! Thanks so much, you will be seeing us again. P.S. refer to the pics for the combination I mentioned.

Google
The Ramen I had here was soooo good. The broth was super next level stuff. Very meaty and rich tasting. I've been to Asia many times, and this is right up there. I had the spicy pork ramen. I only had one of the pork pieces, as it looked pretty high calorie. It did taste amazing. Has more of a lunch vs dinner atmosphere, but they do have a limited selection tap beer, which is pretty cool.

Google
City Ramen is nicely tucked away in Royal Oak and we decided to try Ramen for the first time. The restaurant is cozy and seating is at a premium but that's not really a problem. The spicy miso and duck leg Ramen were absolutely amazing. I like the spicy miss better than the duck leg but you can't go wrong with either choice in any case. The broth was good and the pork belly was cooked nicely. However, NOTHING was cooked better than that nice sized duck leg. The sticky ribs were very very tender and had a nice taste to them. This was a gem to find and eat at and we will DEFINITELY be there again.

Yelp
Ramen was mid at best, so I'm unsurprised to hear the place closed. Ambiance very flat but service was fine

Annie Y.

Yelp
sticky ribs were very good, the sauce they were in was yummy Ginger soju was so good, not sure if it's always on the menu but if they have it get it! Ramen was really good and presentation was beautiful, got the royal and the duck. Portion size also good! A little pricey but not crazy-would go back. Wait staff was very friendly.

Lindsay L.

Yelp
The ramen broth was very delicious but they gave our order to the wrong customer then quickly made ours again and the veggies were hard and I got really sick later in the day. I'm really not sure if it is related to the ramen or not but it was the only thing I ate. The employees were very nice when they realized they gave away our order and it was cute inside. The Royal ramen was savory and delicious with big pieces of meat. The duck ramen broth was more earthy and gingery which my boyfriend loved but I liked mine much better. Also the noodles are "rye" which was not very good. They tasted bland and a little cardboardy. They were $18-$20 each which is too much in my opinion.

Marissa C.

Yelp
Went here for a quick bite and it did not disappoint! It is a fast little restaurant with friendly wait staff and great service with chill vibes. I got the duck ramen and it was delicious! I think it was the some of the best cooked duck I have had and the topping were the perfect touch! I love the little tomatoes. Great little ramen restaurant in Royal oak. Of note to my peanut allergy friends: the tradition tonkatsu ramens do contains peanuts sadly but the restaurant was great at keeping my food peanuts free!

Jeremy N.

Yelp
The bold ramen was absolutely delicious. Great little spot for ramen and drinks. Helpful service!

Victoria S.

Yelp
Came to City Ramen with my brother while we were exploring. Ordered Sticky Ribs, Spicy Miso Ramen, and the Duck Ramen. The sticky ribs had a really good flavor, and weren't bad for the price point ($14 for 5 pieces). The ribs had a lot of meat on them and were very juicy. The ramen was okay - it's not very authentic with regard to taste and noodles. The Duck Ramen was $19, and the Spicy Miso Ramen was $16. Service was great - they do serve beer and sake if that's something you're interested in.

Jeff L.

Yelp
The service was excellent. The person that waited on us was knowledgeable, fun and a great ambassador for the restaurant. The broth in the chicken. Ramen had very good flavor, the chicken had crispy skin and the noodles were perfect. The traditional ramen had crispy pork belly, excellent flavorful broth and perfectly cooked noodles. The establishment was clean and welcoming. A great meal w acting the people walking down the steer.

Yelp
I LOVE THIS PLACE!!!!! So Mike and I have been talking about going to get ramen for a while. I used to go to Urban Ramen on Woodward in Detroit but they closed down and I've been on the hunt ever since. We were in Royal and figured we would try out this place called City Ramen. When we walked in, it was so pleasing to the eye. There was literally NOTHING out of place. Kendrix greeted us and we were able to sit at the bar. She was absolutely amazing by the way. So we sit down and we decided to try the sake. Why not right! I ordered the Tears of Dawn and he orders the Snow Maiden. Both were so good. No weird aftertaste or anything. Now the ramen..... my Lord my Lord! I ordered the Spicy Miso because I like for my ramen to have a little spice to it and when I tell you that it was absolutely delectable, I think that's an understatement. Mike ordered the duck and I've never seen him eat so fast lol . This was his first time having ramen and he said it's not his last either. I think he's hooked. He even ordered a rice bowl and after the noodles were gone added the rice into the broth. So yea, that speaks volumes. By time we walked....more like wobbled out of there, we were full behind measure. (We literally walked out and went right to the bench outside the restaurant. We needed a break lol) When the receipt came, we were getting ready to hand her our car but then we looked and you can scan the barcode to pay! Like whaaaaaaaat! Everyone needs to do this! It made paying to simple and easy. And let me say this about the staff..... they are absolutely wonderful! We laughed with everyone in there and had an amazing time! Can't wait to come back! .... Next week. Yup, I'm coming back next week. Want Ramen?! Visit City Ramen NEEEOOOOWWWW!

Nay W.

Yelp
Was waiting for this place to open when the advertising sign first popped up, but this is my first time! Menu near door so you can decide if you want to eat. Menu at entrance to determine dish while waiting to be seated. Menu on wall next to table. Open kitchen so that dishes can be seen during prep. Seatin in front of counter when dishes are made. Noodles don't seem to be typical ramen type.

Christian C.

Yelp
City Ramen is a nice addition to downtown Royal Oak as their aren't many ramen places in the general area. I've came here a few times with friends and I've always had a superb experience. The staff here super friendly and ready to answer any question you may have. I like to get the Vegan Ramen which includes Miso Ramen, Tomato Miso Broth, Mushrooms, Greens, Scallions, Radishes, Fried Garlic, Confit Tomatoes, Ginger and 'Thick' Rye Noodles. It's amazing! Sometimes ramen can taste to watery but this spot makes the dish just right to where you want need to add or substitute many ingredients. My friend tried the sticky ribs and said they were really good as well, which I would hope since they were $13. Since it's Downtown you'll have to be mindful of parking and crowds but it's definitely worth paying a visit if you're in the area.

Matthew N.

Yelp
Friendly place with genuine Ramen. Great menu choices and add ons. Ban back a few times and does not disappoint.

Kelli K.

Yelp
A decent ramen place in a great location! There is limited seating, so try to go when it is not busy. Nice, modern, and clean. We had the chicken ramen and tomato miso ramen. Tomato miso ramen is the only option if you are vegetarian, and if you don't like tomato, that can be a problem. A little more pricey for the amount you get, but it can be worth it!

Vince G.

Yelp
City Ramen is such an Amazing gem! The food is outstanding, I got the Royal Ramen and my wife got the spicy ramen; both were so flavorful and packed with quality ingredients. Not only that, we at this at noon for lunch and we were full until the next day. Go to City Ramen

Devin R.

Yelp
The best ramen in metro Detroit! The only comparable ramen is Shun Ramen in Madison Heights, but the service and ambiance is much better and more inviting!

Brittany L.

Yelp
For a ramen place, I was hoping for a bit more fun? It was very bland, both soup and ambiance and the way the seating was set up, was a lot like a diner/bar which wasn't as comfortable for a place to sit down and eat some soup. It's all very gray and white and just kind of 'cold'. I felt awkward walking in with a child. Open-sided booths perhaps? I got the traditional ramen with the pork belly added and it was all right. I wasn't blown away with flavor by any means, but it was ramen! Also, my kiddo got the ramen item for children and it was SUCH a strong broth, that she ended up eating mine. For an almost $8.00 bowl, I wouldn't have expected that much zest in my kid's broth... The service itself though, our waitress was exceptional. Despite being a bit 'cold' in the atmosphere, they were so pleasant to the two of us.

Angela T.

Yelp
I came in the other day during lunch time with my boyfriend. We thought service would be quick because we came when it opened. It's definitely not ideal for a quick lunch. I liked that you could choose your own toppings this time and build your own bowl. We also tried the sticky ribs and the kimchi. Both were really good! The ramen was okay. We wished it had thin noodles as opposed to thick noodles. My bf got the miso broth and it didn't taste as good as the tonkotsu. He didn't really enjoy his bowl. Mine was pretty good. The service was just soooo slow from the moment we were seated even until we checked out. Not in a hurry to come back.

Mishael T.

Yelp
Went here for a chill date night and loved. Staff is super friendly and helpful. They make your food right in front of you which is nice. Was very impressed by the food and we'll come back at some point

Cara B.

Yelp
I came in on a Sunday night around 8PM. The place was empty and spotless! The decor was minimalistic and I loved it. The customer service was outstanding, the waiter was very patient and knowledgeable of the menu! I told him what I wanted, and he gave me an awesome recommendation. I ordered the create your own ramen with -- spicy duck broth, chicken, ramen, scallions and greens. The broth was incredible, the chicken was tender, and the scallions and greens were fresh! I was not a fan of the ramen, but it didn't take away from the dish. Short and sweet, I would visit again to explore the menu!

Liz P.

Yelp
Honestly the ramen was 4.5 or 5/5 for me but it gets 4/5 for various reasons. This was my first time eating here and due to COVID we got takeout. I had $20 Royal Oak dining dollars to use and City Ramen was on the list. I've had Kaizen Ramen before and Ima but had not tried City Ramen. I saw pics of the electronic ordering system but due to COVID, you either order online ahead of time or order with the hostess. The hostess was pleasant and took our order and said it would be about 15 minutes. First thing I noticed: they charged us $1.50 for a "to go fee" on the receipt. Really? That's a bit annoying, especially with COVID and a lot of people not wanting to dine in. We ordered: -Royal Ramen (pork belly) - my boyfriend got this and I tried some of the pork belly. It was pretty good and I liked it better than the meat I ordered. -Chicken Ramen: the broth was delicious and flavorful. I did prefer the pork belly to the chicken though. -Homemade pickles. Tasty but really disappointed because the menu didn't state that they were spicy. I can't really do spicy so I only had like 2 or 3 pickles. Overall, I'd come back here but only for dine-in, once COVID is over. The broth was much more flavorful than Kaizen's, and I read on Yelp that the noodles are made in-house, which is cool; the portions are also big enough in that I have some ramen and broth left over for lunch tomorrow, too. However, I was a bit put off by the "takeout charge," and also kind of salty (no pun intended) that the menu didn't indicate that the pickles were spicy.

Jacob P.

Yelp
The portions are meager for what they charge. They make you pay $2 to garnish your bowl with green onions. It also got us sick after eating. Would not go back. Horrible experience. Not authentic.

Karolina K.

Yelp
Had take out from them today. Wanted to use the Royal Oak Downtown Dollars and was craving something warming. Ramen it is. Ordering and picking up process was very smooth, staff was also very friendly. Same as Liz I was not aware that there is a $1.5 charge for take out, but I understand that during these days some restaurants are adding additional charge to compensate some of the additional costs due to covid. For the ramen, we had a chicken one for me husband and vegan for me. The flavors were good but both of them were a little too salty. My ramen for some reason had different type of noodles, thicker than the chicken ramen. I also wish vegan one had some protein like tofu or tempeh. Overall, we liked it but not sure if we will be back

Jonny P.

Yelp
Thin broth, noodles were like store bought spaghetti. Not worth the price and they need to step it up. Ramen is a very competitive space.

Addison D.

Yelp
I have looked forever after moving from Chicago for a ramen place like this. I've been back multiple times and each time I can't believe how good it is. It's just a whole different level. 100% recommend the bold (spicy miso) ramen. It's a creamier broth that I think really shows you what the chef is capable of.

Drillin A.

Yelp
(VEGAN REVIEW) Right when I walked in I knew this place was going to be either really good or really bad, no in between and I'm glad to report that it's REALLY REALLY GOOD!!!! The Vegan Ramen is so flavorful and rich with a blend of different ingredients, Mushrooms cooked to a new more mouth pleasant texture. Ambiance is very sleek and modern but inviting without being rigid. Service was excellent and very accommodating for my SERVICE DOG.

Nat L.

Yelp
The food here was amazing I split the duck ramen with my sister and the duck was tender and had a lot of flavor and the broth was also amazing.the service was very good our server was named Andre and he was very nice our food got out very fast.this place is not too overwhelming like most restaurants and is pretty quiet and dim.the only complaint I have was the food was a little bit pricy ranging from about 18-31$ for a medium sized bowl

Nicole E.

Yelp
Not keen on the computers for ordering and checkouts being right by the door, especially if there's a line, which there was tonight with a few people ahead of us. I was so put off to find they don't offer any GF noodle options, just rice in the soup and no chicken at all, when most ramen places offer some of these options for us non pork eaters. I ended up getting the duck, though I don't eat or really liked duck much, it was the only option, unless I wanted to go vegan. Started off with a cucumber salad and my husband ordered a spicy miso ramen. They charge extra for a side of chili oil for their bland duck soup, which it needed more of than the tonkashi spice. They gave us more but scolded and reminded us that it's a side and charged option on the menu. The other irritating thing is they only have several 2-top tables and a group of tables up by the window for a group but not enough tables. The 4 of us had to sit at the counter and around a corner so we could somewhat see and talk to each other. This place is much more suited for solo visitors. The layout here is not conducive for any groups greater than 1 or 2 folks. The thin noodles were okay, not chewy, not special and so not interesting. The marinaded egg yolk is not cooked enough for me but that's the only way they make it. Gave it to my hubby. Watched this staff guy pushing the beef fat through a strainer near the counter where we were seated, it was repulsive to watch and so not appetizing at all. We had the cucumber salad, wasn't much cucumber, mostly green onions. I do like the crunchy garlic on the top at least. For $7, it should have been filled more than the 1/3 of the side plate from my view, rather stingy here. Nickel and dime you for everything too. The duck ramen came out and the duck leg was breaded, was that mentioned on the menu? Guess I was supposed to know that from the picture then. We could get the same amount of food, with 2 side dishes, 2 ramens and 2 drinks for $14 less than this place at the Kzn on Washington. Plus, I feel the food quality and broths are world's better at the other place and so much faster than here. This place still has much more growth to go to catch up to the likes of Washington's fierce competitor. For what you get here it was very disappointing and fell flat for me. The whole experience was rather bothersome and somewhat frustrating. The food is expensive for what you get. The options are abysmal and the seating is atrocious. $49.29 for this food, seems crazy. The owner had someone write me personally to tell me I have not taste and don't know a thing about ramen. Seriously, that's so childish and low.

Crystal M.

Yelp
Cute little place with good ramen and beer :) server was very personable and knowledgeable about the menu.

Bianca S.

Yelp
Slow service but it's nice. No one is rushing. Not usually busy I've never had to wait for a table. Food tastes good, sometimes perfect.. a bit more on the salty side. Not very traditional, more of a modern take. If you get a bar seat you can watch the cook in the front

Jonathan A.

Yelp
One of the descent ramen places in metro Detroit. I had the spicy miso - broth was tasty just the right amount of spice and creamy miso. Noodles were decent and the pork belly was excellent.

Alisha R.

Yelp
It was a cold, and rainy day today, so my husband and I decided to go warm up with some ramen. It was our first time here, and we ended up waiting behind a family that was picking up their takeout order for about 5-10 minutes. Staff walked by multiple times but never greeted us or asked if we were dining in, etc. We finally got seated, and I'm not sure if their heat was broke or what but it was freezing in there! I didn't take my coat off the entire time. I ordered the royal ramen (no bamboo/radishes), and my husband ordered the bold ramen. We both loved the pork belly - it was delicious. I also loved the thick noodles. The broth was good, but honestly not as good as I thought it would be. It tasted good with the noodles, etc. but by itself it was just ok. Maybe it was almost too savory for me? Not sure. The portion was also pretty decent, neither of us were able to finish our bowls, and we were both starving when we walked in. We will be back, and next time I plan to try their sticky ribs!

Metapod M.

Yelp
Bold spicy miso ramen was very good. The chashu was very tender and flavorful. I also appreciate the thickness of the ramen noodles which goes well with the creamy miso broth that was deep and full of flavor. I would eat here again.

Troy K.

Yelp
Our first visit will definitely come back we had the sticky rib and duck Roman both were very good!

Ainsley E.

Yelp
Stopped in here prior to a show at the music theater and was very happy with the decision. Order your meal at the kiosks in the entryway and you'll be seated while you wait for your food. The broth in my chicken ramen was incredibly flavorful, had a good ratio of noodles to other ingredients, and was overall a well-sized portion. The fried chicken somehow stayed crispy. The miso pork broth was super thick and rich, the pork super tender, and all appropriately spicy. Definitely one of the better ramen experiences I've had -- on par perhaps with Slurping Turtle in Ann Arbor based on this first try. Definitely worlds better than a typical Japanese restaurant here in the states. We'll be recommending this to folks and returning during another visit to Royal Oak.

Dona L.

Yelp
Here for lunch. Ambiance: Spacious restaurant. An ample of tables and chairs. Noise is average. Restroom is clean. Service: Server was welcoming and friendly. He checked on us every 10 minutes. Amazing service. Food: Reasonable price per order. Not enough selection on the menu but whatever you order food was amazing. Practically a ramen place. We ordered Sticky Ribs for appetizer, for our main dish are Pork and Rice both were taste so good. We also ordered Tonkotsu ramen is one of the best ramen in Michigan. It will compete from the others. Overall; Satisfied Customers here. We highly recommend to try this place. Will definitely go back.

Longxiangyu C.

Yelp
Still maintain the good quality if not better. Keep it up! Personally this is still the most authentic ramen I had hear Detroit metro area.

Mayumi S.

Yelp
Very clean & modern ramen shop. I love ramen so much like other Japanese. But I didn't eat in Japan long time so my taste is totally American. It is good heavy soup but may be too nutty. Ramen broth is very time consuming. Take long time to make broth. Only using bones ( many kind) some times Kombu( seaweed) boiling for over 10 hours... (also Onion,garlic..etc) any way not using nuts. So little different. But we don't have many place to eat good ramen like New York or Los Angels. So it's ok ! Any way need more sweet stuff. I don't know how many people want to eat sweet after eat heavy soup but I want! But I know I will be back! In winter...

Jim H.

Yelp
Cool little place in Royal Oak. The ramen is really good and huge portions. They definitely don't skimp out. This place hooks it up. The best ribs you will ever eat!! Definitely did not expect ribs on this menu and they do not disappoint. Order the ribs trust me!

Amanda L.

Yelp
This place was pretty good and hit the spot on a rainy end-of-summer day, but I've definitely had better ramen in the area. My friend & I just happened to be walking by this place after wanting to stop at a different ramen place that was closed & had ramen on the mind, so we ducked in at the last minute. They have a good selection of different kinds of ramens, but their toppings are lacking in variety. The toppings they do have, they make well and the prices are competitive for sure. There's a vegan ramen option, which I always love to see as well! The half marinated egg was a PUNCH of flavor that I loved & probably my favorite part of my ramen. The noodles are okay, but again, nothing special. The broth was also flavorful & good. The pork belly was delicious and they do give you a lot of it as well in your bowl. The ambience of the restaurant was a bit cold, but that could very well have been because of the restrictions of the pandemic. Overall, if you're looking for a quick, hearty bite - City Ramen will do!

Aaron B.

Yelp
Still very good ramen. One of the best tonoktsu I've had, and I really enjoyed the fried chicken thigh, but the Shio broth was NOT for me. It was oversalted and had this funky taste-smell that reminds me of walking through a Chinatown in NYC or Chicago, the kind of taste/aroma that causes a gag reflex. And I've never once sent back a bowl of ramen in my entire life, and I've eaten some funky Vietnamese food, but that was just no . Not enduring this. So I had them put the chicken on the bold miso bowl instead which was equally good. Maybe there was a problem with the Shio broth or that's just how they make it, I dunno.

Danielle W.

Yelp
They were hopping because of Spooktacular but we were settled immediately and the server Jack was great! He helped me customize our order to my gluten allergy by subbing rice for ramen. The sticky ribs so bone sucking good, and the crispy duck leg was executed perfectly. We'll be back again!

Rita G.

Yelp
Awesome server and great food all around! I would recommend this for anyone who wants a taste of Japan here in Michigan!

Vivian K.

Yelp
Great friendly staff and easy ordering system via tablets when you walk in. You will have to place your order at the entrance and pay before you get a number to sit down. Of all the ramen places in the area, I felt City does a great job cooking their protein - chicken and pork. Noodles are just average, left me impression it was packaged and not fresh made in house. Both chicken and pork broths tasted sweet and non-traditional ramen broth spices were used. My one star rating unfortunately comes from their tonkotsu ramen and broth which I had some health related issues with. I had the tonkotsu and felt it was oddly thick and leaned sweet in comparison to other tonkotsu ramens I've had in my lifetime and from various states (CA, NY, GA, etc). The following is a bit TMI, but I really think everyone should be warned. About 20 minutes after finishing my meal, I started having indigestion issues and felt sick in the stomach.. I thought initially maybe I was just having an off night with digesting food since I've had indigestion and acid reflux in the past. Later about 8-9 hrs after the meal, I woke up in the middle of the night with my stomach in excruciating pain. Also started developing itchy hives in my mouth about 15 minutes after the pain started. After chatting with another friend of mine about the experience, I learned she too had indigestion isssues after eating the tonkotsu ramen at this location. However, her reaction wasn't as serious as mines. My boyfriend had the chicken ramen and he did not have any problems so I really think it's something in the tonkotsu broth. I don't think I will be back.

Christie C.

Yelp
I placed a pickup order online. The experience of picking the food up was good- they had sectioned off their restaurant and had an area for food to be picked up. The order was ready for pickup on time. We ate in the parking lot behind the restaurant, so the food was relatively fresh. We ordered the royal ramen and the bold ramen, which is their tonkotsu and spicy miso ramen. The reviews were great and I love ramen, so I was pretty excited to try the food. However, the taste was quite disappointing. First, the toppings were strange... There was some sort of lettuce included. Not your typical Japanese ramen topping. There was also a dollap of some brown sauce- not sure what it was. The chashu and the egg were okay. When I tried the soup of the Bold ramen, it didn't taste like miso and was not spicy... I tried some of the tonkotsu broth also, which was much better. Much closer to what I was expecting, but the broths were both way too salty. I probably won't be going back, but it was worth trying. My search for my ramen spot in the Detroit area continues!

Tommy T.

Yelp
Overall score: 4/5 I was really excited about this place opening up in the Metro Detroit area. The ramen shop style is very similar to a majority of the ones in Dallas where you order from a tablet and either sit down and they will call your number or you have the number stick at your table. I like that concept because it's fast and efficient. My friend turned me onto an article about this place and I have been salivating about this shop since I read about it. We decided to go during a Friday evening and to my surprise it wasn't jammed packed which was perfect! It's still new but once word gets out about this place it will be busting at the seams I'm sure on a Friday night. The atmosphere and ambiance is similar to a small ramen shop and fast food sit down restaurant. The staff were amazingly nice and asked us how our meals were. The kitchen was open and you can see the chefs making the food at the ramen bar. It's super lit inside with a very lofty feel with modern woods and aluminum/metal. We tried all the appetizers on the menu except the gyoza since they were out. The ribs were juicy, had a slight crunch on the outside and soft on the inside. The glaze was sweet which is great but for me I'm not a big sweet glaze person. We also got the edamame which came out in a huge serving and was served warm with an oil base with some seasoning on it (amazing really). There was also the mustard greens with pork rinds which were good not great but I like where they were going with it. The dressing was pretty good on it. Now for the ramen. I've eaten ramen all over and my yelp reviews have a ton of reviews for ramen shops around the US. The plating for the ramen is hands down best looking. The broth was very viscous and thick that's not too salty. It had good flavoring just not hearty flavoring. The noodles were super thick (think of lo-mien), but you can tell it was made in house since it was chewy and bouncy. The toppings on our tonkatsu had the mustard greens on it which I'm not used to but not opposed to it now. The egg was perfectly marinated (a little too runny yolk for me), the chashu pork was not too thick and not too thin and tasted great. I like it, it wasn't a bad bowl of ramen. To be honest with you from a ranking standpoint in the Metro Detroit area I would rank Urban Ramen #1 followed by City Ramen and Johnny Noodle King about even for second place and then Kaizen Ramen after that. I will definitely be coming back here for sure because it's clean, fast, and good. Food review: - Tonkatsu ramen 3.75/5 - Ribs 3.5/5 - Edamame 4/5 - Mustard Green 3/5

Yelp
Tried this ramen spot out in Royal Oak today and I thought it was really good. I had the duck ramen, was looking for something spicy so I asked for chili oil. Luckily they had the chili oil so I dumped that into the broth and it definitely gave me the flavor I was looking for. Will be back back soon!

Yelp
Great, flavorful ramen. I had the Royal Ramen (Tonkotsu) and my husband had the Bold Rame (spicy miso) which had just the right amount of spicy. We also tried the gyoza which was a little different then we're used to as far as the filling but very delicious. It did take quite a while to get our ramen (I know it's made to order) but as someone who works in downtown Royal Oak, I was hoping this would be a regular lunch spot but I'm afraid it would just take too long to enjoy it on a lunch break. If you're not on a time restraint, definitely worth a try!

Yelp
Came here while meeting up with a friend, SO good! I got the bold spicy miso ramen mild. The pork belly was super delicious, toppings were great, and the broth was amazing! Honestly kind of expensive but definitely one of the best bowls of ramen I've had so far eating out!

Yelp
Great ramen! Big portions with high quality ingredients. Broth is a bit too salty. Big portions.

Yelp
Food was amazing! I got the tonkatsu ramen and the pork belly pieces were large. I also got chicken added to it. Service was fast and we had sake while we were waiting. 10/10 would definitely go back.
