The American style taco shop at the town. Quite busy and popular during the lunch hours on weekdays serving for the guys working nearby. The protein inside the taco is great! The Mexicali one is with the steak and cheese. The carnitas puerco is the carnitas with a piece of fried pig skin and also with the pinto beans. The SD Carne Asada is generally good. The tacos are larger than the Mexico style but only with one taqueria for each piece. Don't forget that they have an extra discount on Taco Tuesday!

Google
Decent and fast Mexican place in Sorrento Valley. Thought the quesabirria was delicious (perfect balance of cheesy, crunchy, with juicy meat) but the chicken taco was a bit of a letdown: meat was dry and didn’t have a super distinctive taste. Overall a decent place for a quick bite of Mexican food if you’re in the area. I also appreciate that City Tacos is open relatively early (10:30)!

Google
Good fish, shrimp, Chile Relleno and surf & turf tacos. I didn't care for the scallop dream taco; I guess I was expecting more for being more expensive taco. However I daughter loved it so judge it for yourself. This location is more relaxed and has a laid back vibe compared to the downtown location. I can understand some diners complaining that their tacos are on the pricey side. Surf and turf taco have substantial portions which may justify the price.

I had never been to a City taco before, and everything was bangin. Bangin birrira tacos and churros

Google
Pros -lots of people like this place who work around there -delicious vegetarian tacos options -tacos are good -ample of parking spaces Cons -super pricey, both tacos and drinks -the cashier charged for two beers and only brought out one. I didn't know until after I left and looked at the receipt via email. 😑 -it gets crowded and you may not get a seat

Customer service was ok. I think with it being NYE, the workers look as if they didn't want to be there. I ordered the carne asada taco, chips and salsa, and an elote asado. The carne asada meat was not seasoned well. The chips and salsa were ok. The elote asado was not good to me. It had a sour taste. Which could have been from the lime aioli. Overall, the food wasn't terrible. However, I dont think this would be a place I would want to visit again.

Calculate the time and distance and select two spots for lunch and supper, it's my responsibility for every Monday and Wednesday. We drive from Pasadena to La Jolla and back these two days. This time, I selected City Tacos! We drove off the I-5 and got on the local road, the road condition is so poor, all broken surface. After several bumps and turns, we turned onto a road that was so flat and smooth, then drove to almost the end of the road. It looks in the middle of nowhere but some fancy buildings. The restaurant looks beautiful, I bet it will become an Internet/Instagram celebrity spot if it is not yet. It's so fashion style, the menu, the layout, the renovation. We ordered 4 different tacos and selected an outside seat. The weather is so good today, it's not too hot even in the sunshine. The food was served quickly and they were so good-looking. What's a disaster for a taco restaurant? My answer will be all the tacos taste the same, and even look the same. Fortunately, all the tacos here were different. Crunch Time Shrimp Taco, and Scallop Dream Taco used the same tortilla which was a new experience. The texture was so similar to the Chinese pancake I made. Of course, I love it, and my daughter did either. The taste was good, the scallop was fresh and not watery, good! But I won't have it again, it makes you don't feel it is a taco. The Carnitas is so well designed, even with Pork Grind, thumb up! The Surf & Turf is a combination of beef and shrimp, corn tortilla. Good taste, the only drawback is that the avocado was not fresh enough with dark spots on it. Anyway, it is worth 5-star. By the way, the corn tortilla can be better. In the end, the wheat tortilla, my style, is highly recommended. Guess what, it also has a cheese layer with the tortilla.

Google
Really good! Seems to be a popular local lunch spot. I arrived at 11 AM and walked right up on a Wednesday morning, and within minutes, there was line 15 people deep. The fish taco was excellent, and the carne asada was authentically delicious. Great spot!

Yelp
Came back just to test if this was just a dream or does this taco place have what it takes to stand in the halls of taco fame and glory in San Diego. I will say that the quality of food, the tortillas both flour and corn, the ambiance and the flavor variety are still stellar. This is in my top 5 of taco spots in San Diego due to the creativity and salsa variety. You can't go wrong at this location. Now what I have realized with chain restaurants are the hit or miss quality. For example taco stand in La Jolla is different than taco stand in Convoy. I would say City Tacos in Sorrento felt stronger than the one in downtown by the ball park. The service was fast and good as we arrived at 1pm and after the lunch rush on a weekday. They have a water dispenser and even pallets, and I would say the space is large with great outdoor seating. After all it is San Diego and you have to get some sun with some of your tacos. Skip on over to City Tacos and try the variety of tacos that will sustain your hunger cravings and delight your salsa tastebuds.

Yelp
QUESOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! ...alright.... Let me start by saying I'm a San Diego Native who has frequented the motherlands of Mexico for many years... I have eaten some of the best tacos on earth! And City tacos, has managed to make me say ok maybe I won't judge a Taco Shop by its appearance. Because let's be real I'm not saying a like my taco spots dirty but I want them with a little streetness to them if you know what I mean... City Tacos went elevated decor with the elevated food to back it up. Usually my taco shops have bullet holes , but city tacos has big screens and back splash!! Now for the eats, I tried about 9 different tacos here and all of them are good and a few of them are among greatness My favorites:shrimp crunch, queso birria and portobello(I mean for a veggie taco to be in my favs list... I mean who am I) The Shrimp Cruncher (GENIUS) this was put together by a Mexican Mad Scientist for sure! This is my number one taco here! It's a flour tortilla with melted queso and a shrimp rolled taquito inside topped with all the fixings of a fish taco ... I mean how and who did this to me! And THE PRICE!!! You know the saying food taste better when it's free.... Well when the price is right it always tastes Aiight!!! Haha Ok, I won't get into the salsa bar and all the extras (grass wall) for this review....you're going to have to find out for yourself.... But I will leave you with a hack You can get full for under $15, if you order two of your favorite tacos and the side quesadillas that come with two.... And wrap each taco you order with the quesadilla and load up on complaint water and salsa!! YOUR WELLLCOME! We Love You City Tacos!!!

Yelp
There's a reddit thread from 2023 that put city tacos as one of their top 10 fish tacos in SD so I decided to try it out for lunch. The reviews say it's crowded but given this is the week of Christmas, the office workers aren't around making it the perfect time to try. I decided to try the chorizo asado, pescado and surf and turf. I did get some of their mango salsa. For all the tacos I tried, the toppings helped feel pretty light and not nearly as heavy as I know tacos can feel. The tacos were all a different experience. The chorizo asado was a bit wet. Flavor wise the chorizo was the best tasting filling. The mango salsa was perfect to compensate for bites without pineapple. I found the pescado decent but I failed at maintaining good bites. Bites without the toppings felt like the fish needed salsa. For a breaded fish, it didn't feel like it. The surf and turf was by far the biggest of the three tacos. I had to grab a spoon at the end because stuff had fallen out. It was solid but despite having just had it at lunch, the main memory of it is just how big it was and somewhat difficult to eat. Overall this was a fun lunch pick. It wasn't too heavy which is what I wanted. I don't think this was the kind of fish taco I was craving though.

Yelp
Really good tacos. The veggie tacos are surprisingly really delightful and I LOVE meat. The Taco of the Month is always a fun surprise, and it's clear they put a lot of thought into these limited-time creations. Last month was a shrimp taco with beets and I really enjoyed it. Staff stay busy, but its self serve for salsa bar. Vibe is casual!

Stella Z.

Yelp
Love their tacos there. We were so hungry and ate it so fast that we forgot to take pictures of our food. Their tacos are loaded with toppings and the tortilla is super fresh. They have so many variety of tacos to choose from. Highly recommend their scallop tacos. They are so unique and flavorful. Really can't go wrong with ordering any of their tacos. Service there was also amazing. There are plenty of outside seating but it definitely will fill up during lunch time. Highly recommend checking this place out for some bomb tacos.

Dani P.

Yelp
This place is in a business park setting, so they are able to charge $$$ what they charge bc these people don't have much of a choice of places to eat. They aren't your "regular" tacos, they are fancy...and honestly not your typical San Diego taco spot. But it works for that area. It gets CROWDED...and the wait is very long, so be prepared! The serving size is average. The taste isn't anything I would rave about... It is VERY loud inside and there are places to sit outside but again, it's rather loud outside too, you have groups of people and cars driving by. There isn't much else to choose from in the area so bring your $!

Katelyn W.

Yelp
The shrimp taco here was so yummy! I ordered the Camaron Enchilado and scallop taco. If you are into a clam chowder consistency in a taco, get the scallops taco! The shrimp Camaron taco was so crispy and there was a lot of shrimp for just one taco. The spice level was mild and the vibes outside at the restaurant are so nice in the summer. The service was great and fast. Feel free to stop by here even when you are in rush because the staff will take care of you in no time!

Holly C.

Yelp
4.5/5 Delicious tacos with homemade tortillas! Salsas are great too! The taco of the month is usually excellent and very creative! We've eaten here for years and never been disappointed. TACO TUESDAY DISCOUNT ON ALL TACOS! Highly recommend over Taco Stand or other tacos places in Encinitas. Recommend: Mexicali on Corn Tortilla Camaron Enchilado on Corn Tortilla Chorizo Asado Quesabirria Ahuevo Breakfast Taco Veracruz Papas Con Rajas

Yelp
Location is a little remotes but it's easy to find parking. I ordered 3 different tacos the Surf and Turf, Pescado and Mexicali. Surf and turf was ok but it needed some extra seasoning. The pescado (fish) taco was minimal in the size fish cutlet served. It was mahi mahi so I understand why it was thin like a fish stick. The fish was bland as well. With the location it's in I totally understand why it's not seasoned so it allows the customer to add flavor based on their level. The Mexicali taco is amazing though, I would seriously drive the 2-3 miles from my job site in order to eat a couple of those. It's carne asada, poblano chili's and grilled cheese on the tortilla. Trust me when I say this, it's easily a Top 5 taco I've had in my life. Also, service was great!

Theresa N.

Yelp
Awesome tacos, just wish they were open on weekends and later during the day. You can't go wrong with any taco here really,I've tried the meats, the scallops and the veggies. The sauces are great too!

Audrey S.

Yelp
One of my favorite places to go for Taco Tuesday! They offer 10% off every Tuesday. I love their salsa bar-- I recommend the mango salsa! All of their tacos are pretty good in my opinion but my favorite has to be their Camaron Enchilado. The shrimp is grilled and so juicy and the cheese really brings all the flavors together. The atmosphere is very casual and fun, a great place to meet up with friends or a cute date night!

Carmen V.

Yelp
The other day I was trying to explore areas where to eat at a cheap/decent price around my campus. Since I always try to maximize the discounts I can get, I was happy to find a (new to me and pretty new there too) City Tacos restaurants. Being an Alexandria building tenant, they honor the discount as well as offered the freebie (small quesadilla) when checking in on Yelp. Decor, location and cute factor, totally cool. However, the food was very lacking. I got the Mexicali taco and the fish taco. The first one had some sort of overcooked meat with no flavor, not even adding one of the many salsas for customer's use. The fish taco was semi-frozen and the tortillas were watery. I did not enjoy the food at all, but still liked the place, such a quiet campus, pretty colors, cool wall art...those things matter to me...but the food should be first...did not find it so cheap for what you get.

Ronald B.

Yelp
I can honestly say that this is a spot where I really don't pay attention to the ambience. I know that when I come here, it's all about the tacos. Every taco that I have gotten has been absolutely delicious. The only drawback is that I don't do too well with some of the tacos that have a little bit more spice than others. Besides that I would highly recommend this to anyone that is craving street style tacos. The tacos are all affordable and you can get 4 to 5 for under $20 and be completely satisfied!

Rashida B.

Yelp
The service was good. I ordered the carne asada tacos and surprisingly it didn't have any flavor which was disappointing. I also ordered the pollo asado taco and it had pretty good flavor. The atmosphere was simple and casual. It wasn't horrible but I won't be back.

Shelly G.

Yelp
Nice lunch spot tucked away in Sorrento Valley. Tons of parking, delicious tacos, nice and clean seating, and awesome service!

Audrey C.

Yelp
So glad they opened up a location near work! It's a great place to come grab food and possibly a coffee after at the nearby coffee shop. In any case, there's a parking lot and streets parking in case the lot gets full. Some favorite tacos: Mexicali - the steak with the mashed potatoes go so perfectly well together. Carnitas and the SDCA - both are so flavorful and the beef is so juicy. Those are my top 3 but I don't think you can go wrong with any options there! Try to know what you want by the time you get Up to the counter cos it's a pretty speedy process!

Hex L.

Yelp
Really great service staff is friendly and even within rush hour they got all the orders done in a timely manner. Highly recommend this place great environment

Cathryn V.

Yelp
Wonderful tacos and birra. Plenty of seating and fast service............................yelp should not force long reviews.

Paul V.

Yelp
Solid place in a hidden nook of Mira mesa, staff is polite got my food In a timely manner. Clean seating!

Yelp
City Tacos (B-) Executive summary: "A" for vibe & decor, but food gets a "B-" only. Some of the tacos are good, like the "scallop taco" but others are plain boring, like the "carnitas". I expected better. Given Craft Taco is in the same area, also with a great vibe and better food, I won't be revisiting City Taco. Modern taco spots worth revisiting, ranked are: 1) Craft & Taco Lounge in Escondido 2) The Craft Taco @ SOVA. Lola and City Tacos, on the other hand, didn't make it to the list. ----------------------------------------------------- Another taco spot bites the dust. Saw the great reviews for City Taco and took my daughter for lunch after her dentist appointment. We were both pretty excited by the awesome atmosphere & vibe. The space is simply superb, both indoor & outdoor space. They offer a very big taco menu, and so took us a little time to figure out what we wanted. And, by checking in via Yelp, we got a free quesadilla. Among three people, we got to try a pretty wide variety of tacos and other side dishes. Guacamole with chips (B): Chips were light and crunchy but lacked the corn aroma of some better chips I've had. The guacamole was nice, appropriately seasoned with a pleasant savoriness, the tomatoes added a nice flavor contrast. For $7, I expected a bigger serving, but nonetheless, quite enjoyable. Elote asado (C+): The seasoning was okay - a touch on the soggy side although nicely savory, but the corn lacked freshness, with soggy kernels. Quesadilla (B): This was actually quite nice. The nice aroma from the cheese, with a touch of savoriness came through, but here wasn't enough cheese for the size of the tortilla. Scallop dream taco (B): Generous on the scallops, nicely marinated - maybe a bit too salty - and balanced with a creamy sauce. Probably my favorite of all the tacos we tried. Crunch time shrimp (C+): The shrimp was fried to potato chip-like, so it didn't have much shrimp flavor. Could have been any type of taco and when fried to that extent, it would have tasted the same. Rather bland and boring. SDCA taco (B-): Flavor was decent, a savory smokiness, but the beef was so thin that you could hardly taste it, or even feel it once you start chewing. Carnitas (C): The pork tasted a little gamey, and salty - that was it. And it wasn't as tender as I would expect. The carnitas from Chipotle tastes better! Churros (B+): This was the highlight of the meal. Served hot, crunchy with just the right amount of sugar. The inside was a touch doughier than desired, so not perfect, but still very tasty. Conclusion: The food was not great, but also not bad. It's a great place to hang out, provided you pick the right tacos that you like. But Craft Taco is just around the corner, offering similar space, so to me, that would be the smarter choice. ------------------------------------------------------------- Grading scale: A+: You absolutely have to try this place, even if it's a big effort to get there and may or may not cost an arm & leg. Oh, and parking might suck pretty badly too so be prepared. A: Awesome spot and worth the effort, say up to a 45 minute drive with painful parking and may cost an arm only. A-: Very very good. 30 minute drive, a little pain parking. May or may not be pricey. B+: Very good, and a little bit of driving is fine. B: Acceptably good and a solid choice if in the area, but not a destination restaurant. B-: Not bad, reasonable choice if in the area and it's difficult to get to a better spot. C+: You're really hungry and want something to eat, this place won't make you foodie happy, but at least now, you're full. C: Mediocre. You ate, and you're thinking "meh". Probably not coming back, but not bad enough to make you angry. C-: Okay, that was kinda sucky. Not coming back but feeling a little pissed about the bad restaurant choice. Dummy. D: WTF?! Would have rather stayed hangry. Hope this place closes down soon. F: You're secretly planning how to get the place shut down without getting caught, and wishing your worst enemy has to eat from this place the rest of his / her life.

Huma M.

Yelp
I love City Tacos, but this location ain't it. Location wise, it is where a lot of the biotech companies are, making it convenient for lunch. Food wise, not impressed. The last few times I visited, the food was greasy or cold and just disappointing for the price.

Mengyun Z.

Yelp
I went to this place with my colleagues during a weekday lunch time as he claimed this is his favorite Taco place in San Diego!! ( Of course I have to try and see how good it is!! ) We went there around 12:30pm and parking is plenty. The indoor and outdoor seating area seems nice and colorful, really lighten up the feel! They have a really nice wall art inside which is perfect for an instagram photo! Their taco is more like a mixture between Mexico and SoCal, with a perfect blend of both flavors! My colleague loves their Shrimp taco, which is cooked nice and juicy! I ordered the MexiCali one and Chorizo Asado one and also both pretty good! They also offered 3 types of Vegetarian Taco to choose from. They do not have waiters around so most service are self-helping kind which is nice (do not feel hurry or had to go). I would say here is a very good place for a lunch taco, unlike the traditional taco place which has limit seating and very small, City Tacos has nice patio and indoor to sit, chat and relax. Very nice! Hidden gem in Sorrento Valley!

Hannah O.

Yelp
so glad I finally got to try this place out! I went with the recommended Mexicali and wow that mashed potato / carne asada combo was great! I also love that they melt a layer of cheese onto the tortilla - adds perfect saltiness and helps keep the tortilla from getting soggy. I also got the Shank You taco and really liked the meat and flavor profile but it was wayyyy too soupy. As soon as I picked it up, soup/sauce was pouring out one end of the taco. Thank goodness that cheese layer was there to protect the fragile corn tortilla from falling apart. Definitely need to come back to try all their other tacos! There's so much variety, I'll never get bored until I try them all once :)

Sunny W.

Yelp
Randomly discovered this City Tacos when I was around Sorrento Valley. It's tucked away in the business area, close to the 5S on ramp. Prior to this one I've only visited the one located in North Park. I've gotten the MexiCali, Pollo City and Cameron Enchilado. The MexiCali is basically for the "steak and potatoes" person that likes steak with mash potatoes wrapped in a tortilla. Cameron Enchilado is grilled shrimp with some tomatoes and chilis. Lastly, Pollo City which is my favorite has grilled chicken with arugula and golden raisins. Are these tacos authentic? Definitely not. However their combination keep your taste buds guessing and wanting more of their tacos. The service is quick and nice. They celebrate taco Tuesday with 10% off.

Jordan T.

Yelp
These were some of the best tacos I've had! So many unique options and flavors to pick from and you can taste the freshness in the ingredients. All of the ones I tried were delicious but the MexiCali was my fave for sure. Great, easy service and a nice patio to eat on. Definitely will be back!

Chris C.

Yelp
For any folks travelling in from Austin central Texas, and your thinking about visiting city taco, I would highly recommend!

Joyce L.

Yelp
Fancy tacos at fancy taco prices, but they're delicious, and plus there's a Yelp check-in freebie! Service is a bit meh - even if you beat the weekday lunch crowd, the staff doesn't seem particularly happy to see you (not a huge issue, but just FYI). On the other hand, the descriptive color-coded menu makes it easy to tell what's what (i.e. corn vs. flour tortilla, vegan, paleo, spicy), so you don't really need to interact much with anyone - just order, take a number, and wait for your yummies to arrive at your chosen table. :) Pro tip: the menu is fairly extensive, so scope it out ahead of time to avoid holding up the line of hungry office park workers who descend upon this conveniently located restaurant at exactly 5 minutes past noon. My current favorite taco is the Camaron Enchilado, which consists of a generous amount of plump grilled shrimp with chile arbol, tomato, onion, and cilantro over a bed of melted asadero cheese and finished with lime and chipotle aioli. Mouthwateringly good!

Micheal B.

Yelp
Food was great. Love the surf and turf. Good service. Plan to make this the place to visit before or after a ballgame

Joe Q.

Yelp
Try to go on Tuesdays = 10% off entire menu As for the food, it has a different taste and feel from the common San Diego Mexican food joint. First of all, the tortillas feel freshly made. That's a big deal since it is involved in almost each menu item. Tacos are filled pretty well, no skimping. Meat was juicy from carnitas to pollo to carne asada. Churros taste fresh and almost like the ones I get in TJ after betting on football games at Caliente...almost. Hey, they come with a chocolate sauce here at City Tacos though. As for the salsas, the red one is the best. I have tried their yellow one at least twice and I can't get myself to enjoy it. It's a little too fruity for my liking - and I like fruity drinks!

Josie M.

Yelp
City Tacos has many locations. This location is a bit hidden in Sorrento Valley but it does get very busy during the week for all the businesses during the work week. Service is fast and the food is always good. You may think that street tacos may not be enough to fill you up but they do put a lot of filling!! Every time I go in I try different dishes and I have not been disappointed. Lots of tables outside and inside.

Matt K.

Yelp
Great fish taco, disappointing carnitas taco, really solid Baja shrimp. Took my whole lunch break to just order and get my food; I understand it was lunch rush but damn it was rough. Kinda pricy for what the food is. Glad I tried it but won't be my first choice for tacos any time soon. Overall good but not exactly for the price.

Laura J.

Yelp
Lots of seating both inside and out. Got a Mexicali and a Surf & Turf. Flavors were very strong and bold. Lots of different options to choose from and all very unique and different. There are very precise listing of ingredients and different diets on the menu. The only downside is that they are quite pricey.

Toby B.

Yelp
I've heard a lot about City Tacos and today I finally got the opportunity to try it out for myself and my two boys. My sons can eat however they want but I'm vegan, which is why I was pleasantly surprised to see two vegan options on their menu. I wish there were more but I'll take what I can get. I had a portobello mushroom taco and enjoyed it, especially with the salsa they had to go with it. I also appreciated their willingness to accommodate one of my son's requests for his meal. Admittedly so, he's pretty picky, but the host behind the counter didn't skip a beat trying to help him out. The vibe of the place was very cool and the outdoor patio had plenty of space. I will definitely come back. If I had to pick something to critique, it would be how long it took to get our small order but I don't think that's their fault at all. It's simply because they were packed and can only do so much. Their busyness is a tribute to well they are liked.

Meagan E.

Yelp
Hmm. I don't get the City Taco hype, I've been really disappointed at 2 locations. Their menu is certainly different and has some cool offerings so there's that plus. I try to give a spot two tries if it's known to be great before writing a less than decent review, (unless they've done something majorly bad). Been to La Mesa and left bummed although I cant recall what I ordered. Hadn't planned a second visit until I stumbled upon this location near home. Ordered cochinita pibil (pulled pork) and a surf and turf taco. Cochinita was actually pretty good. The surf and turf was offensively bland. Its one of my fave tacos and likely one of what i ordered at the other location. Meat was grey and unattractive and completely unseasoned, as was the shrimp. Asadero cheese and the aioli also mysteriously flavorless. Astounded by how a surf and turf can go so wrong. 1 success out of 4 -no bueno. Staff was nice though, place was clean and had nice outdoor seating.

Lidia S.

Yelp
Hot damn! So tasty, savory and fresh seafood tacos. We tried most, if not all, of their seafood tacos variations. My favorite was "camarón enchilado". The workers were so nice and our tacos came out right away.

Timothy M.

Yelp
This place has some of the best tacos I've ever had. I keep working through the menu and have enjoyed every taco. Keep up the great work. I look forward to this lunch stop every trip I make to San Diego. Seating is limited during the lunch rush on taco Tuesday, but it's worth it. Service was great as the team cleaned up my trash before I had a chance to.

Ana G.

Yelp
Great food overall! Everything was booooomb. I don't remember my full order but I would recommend the shrimp tacos for sure plus the chorizo and poblano. The asada taco was a little too basic for me but I can't say I didn't enjoy it.

Nathanael S.

Yelp
I love getting lunch at City Tacos! For the most part it's a la carte so just pick a couple things that catch your eye. Also be sure to check out any specials they have because they're usually fantastic! They're fast, not overly expensive, have great customer service, and amazing food. If you don't work nearby, the location is a bit inconvenient, but hey, that just means less chance of crowds to deal with!

Jun M.

Yelp
Kind of an interesting place for a taco shop. Beautiful area in the business district. Not sure what i was expecting out of the tacos. I should have read the menu and asked for no beans. Meat wasnt hot. Was kinda just warm which was odd. Huge serving of guac on the tacos might have cooled the meat fast too. Kinda too much for me. Asked for most commonly ordered. I believe this is the Chorizo and Carnitas? I apologize i forgot.

Kelli C.

Yelp
Great customer service and food was delicious. Carne Asada Tacos was great and I love how they had a kids meal.

Jack M.

Yelp
It's very to see City Tacos expanding. They do make some tasty tacos. For lunch, I had the Mexicali taco which is always a winner and the Chile Relleno which was not to its true form. The Mexicali with its tender Angus Beef, poblano peppers, and asadero cheese were fantastic together already, but add the mashed potatoes, crema, and cotija cheese and it's bliss. The avocado salsa from the salsa bar went very well with this taco. The chile relleno taco was not as good as I have experience at other locations. They use a yellow pepper instead of the traditional Poblano Pepper, or at the very least Anaheim Pepper; as a result, the flavor was not there and neither was the texture. The yellow pepper offered very little traditional flavor. I was bummed. On the good side, the rest of the ingredients on the taco were good: the cotija, Oaxaca cheese, tomatoes, red onions, and cilantro, but what really rocked, was the lime aioli drizzled a top. It was very tasty indeed. Service was very upbeat at this location and friendly. It's located right across from Copa Vida.

Yelp
City Tacos is our favorite Taco place in all of San Diego!!! They are the best!!! I was so excited for this Sorrento Valley location because the location is great and tucked away from the city business and has plenty of free parking. They has a nice outdoor comfortable seating area with shaded umbrellas. The Carne Asada tacos are my absolute favorite, but all of the tacos I have had here are excellent and tasty. The tortillas are fresh and delicious! The only bummer about this location is that they are closed on Saturday and Sunday and also that they close early on weekdays at 3:30. We love coming for their Taco Tuesday specials!

Yelp
Came for Taco Tuesday and wow was it a good choice! Tacos were a little expensive if you aren't accustomed to West Coast pricing, however, they are worth every penny. I had 3 tacos (beef, shrimp, and Mahi) and they were fantastic. The beef one has some mashed potatoes in it and the seafood was soo fresh. The staff was incredibly friendly as well. We cut it a little close to closing and they happily accommodated us! Great lunch spot and make sure to ask about their Taco Tuesday promotion!

Yelp
Always have had a good experience here. Have been here twice and have had door dashed as well. Although my work place is only 5 mins away so I can't say how well it is when delivered. Never go wrong with the pescado.

Yelp
Tasty! I had the seafood taco with octopus (el especial), a smoked tuna taco (pescadilla), and fried mahi mahi fish taco (pescado). All were really, really good. I think the pescado stood out b/c it contained strawberries, but the sweetness wasn't weird, it had some sort of vinaigrette with it that enhanced the savory ness of the taco. Anyway, they're damn good. And filling! And at around $4.00 each, not bad on the wallet, either. Glad they opened up a Sorrento Valley location! You can get food here and a beer at Bottlecraft across the way. :)

Yelp
We tried this place yesterday, the options were very different than what we normally get in tacos. As we are vegetarian we only had 3 options. We tried all 3 city Zucchini, chile relleno, portobello. I personally liked the Chile relleno the most out of 3. They also give different dips and salas on side. I loved the mango dip do try that. The ambiance of the place is okay.

Yelp
The selection of tacos was unique. Everything was fresh and so tasty. The service was excellent. And the price? Unbeatable and unbelievable for some good quality food. Yum!

Yelp
City Tacos is so bomb. I've tried City Tacos a handful of times! From my experience: I recommend: Mexicali Chile Relleno But I also have ordered: Tostado shrimp Chorizo asado Cameron enchilado The tacos that I recommended are consistently good. As a major carnivore, recommending a non-meat taco (chile relleno)... bold statement right hurrrrrr. Pretty good. Love the variety of sauces. I honestly didn't know wth I was putting on my tacos. I just used whatever was in front of me and relished whatever flavor danced in my mouth. Get a side of horchata to wash it down & Ure gucci.
