A tiny Mt. Adams tavern with a sweeping river view and the Big Ted Deluxe, a griddle‑smashed local favorite. Cited by CityBeat for its view and by Cincinnati Magazine readers for the burger, it’s pure Cincinnati character.

What a great location to be at and relax. The bartender, Cassidy, was/is amazing!! She is on point with everything! I had the chili & the west side steakhouse Reuben (plant based) and they were both amazing! I definitely recommend them both. It’s a great place to come and relax. I highly recommend this location for anyone to come and just chill.

Google
Quiet little burger joint with a beautiful view. The burger was juicy. The bartender didn't listen very well with the condiments, but I won't complain. The view was immaculate. The patrons there were nice and welcoming. I'll go again when I am on that side of town.

Get the famous Teddy burger! Yes it takes awhile to cook, get a drink & enjoy the incredible view! The wait is worth every second! Hangs down one of the best burgers I've ever had!

Google
I had the ‘Ruben’ with the veggie burger replacement. As a vegetarian, I don’t get to eat Rubens any more, so this was a magical spin on the sandwich as a burger. Whatever… just order it and enjoy. It was a wonderful place - so it was no surprise that it claims to be the second oldest bar in Cincinnati. A place this great can never be closed.

Google
Wonderfully classic bar atmosphere with amazing views. The chili burger is great.

Unfortunately I really really wanted to like this place, the view is pretty nice and it’s small which is very cozy but we waited for over an hour for some cheeseburgers. There were no other ppl ordering food at the moment since it was slow and to be honest the burgers were not good. I just ate it cause I was seriously starving. The guy and girl in there were really nice but the whole experience was just a no go for me.

Google
Love a burger at City View! A great spot with a great view of the city. I most recently had the Cheddar Bacon Burger with A-1 Sauce and it was delicious! 😋 ** Pic is of the burger with lettuce, pickle, onion and mayo from a previous visit which was also yummy**

Google
The story is Manson jumped off the balcony patio after drinking too much tequila... I don't know if that's true or not but this tiny gem has an amazing patio view overlooking the city, great staff that are friendly and outgoing, a decent burger and the best bloody Mary your gonna find in town! If you're a first-time visitor, don't forget to sign the book and read the stories from all of their previous patrons over the past 30+ years!

Yelp
Quite possibly THE BEST BURGER in the city! Amazing service from the bartender, phenomenal view of downtown Cincinnati and very casual. My only ask or "complaint" is that they still advertise Grippos and they carry Lays. Please add Grippos and.... Charge more for them.

Yelp
Parking can be a challenge, though we were there on a Wednesday afternoon and it wasn't too bad. The place has a cool vibe and a great view. What a great place to come and sit outside for a drink when the weather's nice. The person covering the bar was also the server and the cook. She was fabulous! There were six of us and we all tried something different. I had to try something unusual and ordered the PB&B - peanut butter and bacon. It was certainly unique, but not something I'd order again. The Big Ted Deluxe seemed to be the way to go. Mark also had a serving on chili. He was unimpressed. I'd say stick to a basic type burger if you're hungry. Otherwise, grab a beer and sit on the back deck and enjoy the view. I imagine sunset views are amazing.

Yelp
This is quite possibly the best "dive bar" in Cincinnati! The building looks pretty standard and unassuming from the outside but once you go in, you immediately get why it's been around so long. The views of downtown alone make it worth a visit. But also, it's clean, vibrant, and welcoming. The bartender/cook Sam was one of the nicest people I've met at a bar. She was very friendly, helpful, and greeted each person that came in with a genuine welcome. The entire time I was there, she struck up genuine conversations with people, gave awesome recommendations, and managed the whole place without skipping a beat. I was told to come here for the burgers as they were amazing. A lot of times, I doubt "best burger " claims but this one is definitely worth the hype. There's nothing fancy about it, nothing over the top about it, it's just a great tasting, slow cooked burger. This "dive bar " is wonderful and definitely worth a visit!

Yelp
These burgers are amazing. I had the Goetta Chedda. It takes 20 minutes to make them properly, so be prepared, it's worth the wait though. It was delicious, well seasoned, well cooked, and the toppings ratio was on point. They claim to have the best Bloody Mary in town and they are definitely top two (Lebos is the other). Very good, simple, spicy, and well mixed. Sam though- she was the highlight. She's a lovely person in general and her enthusiasm is infectious. Plus, she runs a bar like a boss. I would 100% come back and get exactly what I had yesterday. Oh, there's a nice view or something too.

Yelp
The menu was not expansive, but everything our party of 5 ordered was good. I wasn't sure what to expect as I couldn't find a website to browse prior to stopping in. The lone employee worked the bar and the grill and was super personable. A nice fellow. After we placed our order, it seemed a couple dozen more patrons rolled in and the worker really jumped into action! The environment felt like Cheers LOL. The historical pictures and paper clippings and beer artwork just felt comfortable. The view of the city--hence, the name--was gorgeous, despite the gray weather.

Yelp
This is a nice little neighborhood dive bar. The service was great and the hamburgers were excellent. The view from the patio really makes the place special. I recommend when in the area.

Yelp
This is currently one of my favorite places to go for a drink, and a delicious burger. It takes a bit of time to get the food, but it's always worth it, and the staff is always kind. I love to watch the sunset from here, and take in the views.
google avatar

Yelp
Great little bar. They have good and tasty burgers! It's fun to go in nice weather and sit outside with the great view of Cincinnati. (Hence the name. :)

Yelp
Five for a dive! This is a quintessential dive bar that happens to have a great view, and offers really good burgers. There were three of us on a mid afternoon Thursday, hankering for a burger. The place was literally empty - even the bartender/cook/server was away somewhere. Luckily he returned and we ordered 3 burgers and 3 beers, and ensconced ourselves on the chilly but sunny porch that has the views. I had the Lagemann burger (served on rye sandwich bread with Swiss cheese and sautéed onions); hubs had the Philly; brother had the Big Ted Burger. We decided the Big Ted looked the best but all had the same delicious burger! Served with chips. This is a place to exercise your flexibility: their fridge was down, so no bottle beer and they were out of a couple things. We still got our drinks and got fed and caught up with each other. Bonus: my brother lived up on Mt Adams years ago and we got to hear all kinds of stories, details on what was out there in that beautiful view, and even some history. We had a great time. Hope you will too!

Yelp
Awesome view Awesome burger Easy walk from town Will be adding to the Lunch rotation And the 5pm rotation And the weekend rotation Great quick service and friendly to boot. Did I mention the view? Highly recommended

Yelp
When I told my doctor I was thinking of moving to Mount Adams, he told me he used to live there, and I had to try the City View Tavern for the best burger in Cincinnati. He warned me it was a small place, and one guy does everything...take orders, cook, deliver food, and takes your payment. Well, he was right about that! The menu is small, and everything is a burger. Even the ruben is made with a burger. I had the Big Ted. It was soooo good, even had pickle slices on it. And reasonable for $8.50. It was like a home cooked meal, except for the bag of chips served with it. And you need to be patient, cause one guy doing everything. So it takes a little while to get your food. He was very friendly...my grumpy sister ordered hers well done, and he said we cook them all the same. She replied if hers had any pink in it, she would be bringing it back to him. When he delivered it, he said "and for the lady who threatened to burn my house down if there was any pink" and plunked hers down. No pink. We left happy, and I will be back.

Yelp
Great setting over the side of Mt. Adams but is a different world from the "bougie" neighborhood. True "hole in the wall" or "dive bar" feel and atmosphere while traditional bar menu & offerings. The beer is cold and the view is the attraction. Sit on the deck, enjoy some refreshments and a good dog or burger, and watch the sunset on downtown Cincy!

Chris L.

Yelp
10.50 for a 2 oz shot of Jim beam? Everywhere else charges half that for the same thing. This has to be a mistake. A whole bottle costs 29 bucks.
google avatar

Yelp
Sam (Samantha) was AMAZING!! She was the only person working so she was bartending, cooking and everything else that needed to be done. The food she prepared was delicious and perfectly made to order. The bar has an incredible view and really great local decor. With that being said, I cannot tell you how horrible it is for a bar owner to leave a loyal employee alone on a busy afternoon. I hope you realize how hard your employee worked to make you look good. GREAT JOB SAM!!!!

Yelp
The Cityview Tavern is a quaint little bar with an amazing view of Cincinnati. Located in a residential area you might miss it if you weren't looking for it. Their burgers are fantastic and the employees are very nice every time we've ever been in.

Betsy S.

Yelp
Great burger. Fantastic city view. Wonderful Bloody Mary GOOD TIMES in a quaint place!
google avatar

Andrea M.

Yelp
Love this place because the view is amazing. Sucks they don't have tequila though. Love showing this place to my friends who haven't been to Cincy.

Katy P.

Yelp
Great view, decent food, killer service, and atmosphere. Perfect spot for a nice draft beer and looking at the Cincinnati skyline.
google avatar

Gabby S.

Yelp
A great view on a nice day. A little hole in the wall place. We didn't have food- just went there for a drink. Not the best interior- looks like a bar from the 70s where the decor hasn't changed since or the inside of a bowling alley- a place you would expect hotdogs on a paper plate kinda thing, which is fine. We were there on a Saturday afternoon and it was eerily quiet- no music and everyone talking at an extremely low level. Relatively empty. It was fine for what it was but I wouldn't necessarily go back- we ended up walking up the hill 10mins for another place to eat.
google avatar

Yelp
Totally unique spot, sit on the edge of Mount Adams over looking the city from the east. The Big Ted burger is a favorite. Limited menu. But good bar food. Service can be slow but friendly.
google avatar

Yelp
What a cool spot up on Mt. Adam's in Cincinnati! The place may not look like much, kind of a cool old dive bar feel with an incredible view. It's over 100 years old though! You couldn't ask for a tavern with a better view. We just had beers today but the burgers looked pretty great from what I could tell. We'll definitely be back to try a burger in the future!
google avatar

Matt Z.

Yelp
Great view, but the service is so bad. Don't be in a hurry when you come. It took over an hour to get my one hamburger and the server/bartender could not distinguish between guests.
google avatar

Thomas M.

Yelp
Burgers are Fantastic Atmosphere calm and view to die for A must visit if you haven't already

Sue Y.

Yelp
Kinda a cool dive bar in and upscale setting! Great view, great burgers! Employees were friendly w/ a great sense of humor.
google avatar

Alex H.

Yelp
This hidden gem is tucked away. They have a great view and cheap food and drinks. It's definitely a dive to check out! The bartenders are super friendly and helpful

Angela S.

Yelp
The views are AMAZING! The business is for sale but still operating. Very good food! The woman at the bar was very friendly.

Andy B.

Yelp
After waiting more than hour and fifteen to get our burgers , thru forgot to cool for one our party. When brought to staff attention, response that he got rushed and forgot. If you want great view of the city, this is your place , but not a place for group to go to eat .

Kim And Rick D.

Yelp
This is a quaint place and does have a great view. I went w a group of 5 and it took a looooong time to get our food. So why still 4 stars? The burger was fabulous! I had good company although we were starving, and the bartender was a 1 man operation tending to every one
google avatar

Yelp
Great view of the city. Attempted to go eat here for the first time today. We walked in, no greeting, we didn't know what to do. There was a family in front of us, they were holding menus. Later on we were told to find a seat outside, which we did. Again, great view. We were sitting at a table outside after they told us to, then later on a lady told us to order at the bar, meanwhile she was holding an order pad to take orders from the people ahead of us. So us, with no menus on hand just walked out. This place is disgusting. Stay away from this place. When you step in, you'll know what I mean. I've had the bad experience, I took one for the team. This place is horrendous.
google avatar

Bob M.

Yelp
Quaint little out of the way place that has good food and a great view. I look forward to going back.

Yelp
A good divey place. You need to walk up to the bar to order food, but the bartender was very friendly and helpful. The food - a burger and a veggie philly cheese steak sandwich - was very good. Good drink selection. Nice view of downtown from the balcony and even from the tables near the windows. The drawbacks? The place was understaffed and the men's room was filthy and out of paper towels. (I know it prides itself as a dive, but please .....). If you can get past that, it's a good destination.
google avatar

Geneva S.

Yelp
Historic dive bar with an amazing view and fantastic service. We stayed in a VRBO down the street. You can walk to other places on Mt Adams from here.
google avatar

Becky P.

Yelp
Food is always good unfortunately the staff tonight is super rude. We waited over 45 mins for a burger and it was cold.
google avatar

Heather L.

Yelp
So I have long loved this unique Cincy must visit, and I am not sure how I haven't written a review until now. THIS, is THE Dive bar. Set on a quiet residential street away from the rest of the craziness of Mt Adams, City View is just that, one of the best views of the city. No frills here, just relaxed casual atmosphere with a cute little patio with a view. I have never been a Bloody Mary person, infact I hate them, until I tried their spicy one, to which I am hooked! They have delicious burgers, with many different options, all yummy. Most recently I had the Lageman add lettuce and tomato. If you haven't been here this should be on your Cincy Bucket list!

Yelp
My great uncle has been coming for happy hour for years, following his sister's funeral service he said he wanted to go to City View to have a been and relax. We arrived and they were closed, doing some work in the bar, when my uncle told Silas that he was looking forward to sitting on the patio with a beer after the week he has had, Silas set us up with beers on the patio. The kindness was much appreciated and we are so thankful, happy to support a local business that also supports their patrons and community.

Bill R.

Yelp
On a visit to this place, we experienced extremely unhelpful service. The person taking food orders at the bar was surly and argumentative. It took 55 minutes for us to receive our food order for a party of four. The burgers had skimpy dressing so we asked for additional ketsup. He argued that we didn't need it, and then grudgingly provided a tiny serving of ketsup for the group. As we left, we heard someone ask for mustard and they got the same surly treatment. Good view but not worth the rude treatment

Dennis T.

Yelp
Burgers were not very good. With limited menu choices you would expect better.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
google avatar

Katharine H.

Yelp
I LOVE City View Tavern. I used to live down the street. Their simple menu is awesome, and their bloody Mary's are the best I've ever had. I miss this hidden gem.

King O.

Yelp
Peanut butter hamburger is gas Place is dirty tho and only one guy works there 7.5/10
google avatar

Chris L.

Yelp
Their porch offers one of the best views in the city however the service, interior and cost / quality of drinks leaves something to be desired.
google avatar

Roth M.

Yelp
Super dive bar with great burgers and a spectacular view of downtown. No tomatoes this time of year, because they apparently grow their own! Del, the Sunday bartender was cool as hell and attentive. I will definitely be going back and bringing friends. Haven't been there in years, and I have no idea why I neglected it for so long. Also, Charles Manson grew up on the same block, so what's not to like!?
google avatar

Katie S.

Yelp
This place was the perfect fit for a post-5k fuel up. The atmosphere is perfectly unpretentious and homey. The bartender and cook were both welcoming and funny and convinced me to get the peanut butter burger which was amazing! The beer and booze selection show off local offerings and I can definitely see myself coming back to sit on the back porch to eat, drink, and look at the city.
google avatar

Gail H.

Yelp
I used to live down the street. It's been a "go to" for decades for a wonderful burger, and still going strong.
google avatar

Michael E.

Yelp
This is my favorite bar in the city. The view cannot be beat and it's a dive bar with relatively cheap beer and decent food, it is also tiny...like only 10 folks can sit on the deck, but if you go there during the early day you have a cold drink and a nice time on a patio you have all to yourself. Though Blind Lemon is a must see bar for tourist...this is my must do bar every time I'm in town.
google avatar

Sandra F.

Yelp
Great neighborhood/local bar! When it is warm, I like to sit the back patio. The view of Downtown is beautiful! The only thing I don't like is finding parking in this area is really hard.

Kaylee C.

Yelp
City View Tavern is gritty in the best way. No table service means you order at the bar, with refreshingly gruff service-- the bartender and cook, who appears to be a one man show, is honest and upfront about orders and choices. The menu is simple, but coherent-- bar food and burgers dominate the two pages. I ordered the PB & B burger, which has bacon and peanut butter, of all options! I ended up loving the unique combination. Though the food ends up taking a bit to come out, it was definitely worth it. Juicy burgers are ALWAYS worth it. We'll be back for the view, the food, and the low frills vibes
google avatar

Clifton S.

Yelp
Really rude bar staff. When we walked in the bartender came over and had an attitude that he couldn't be bothered to tell us about the menu. I have him the benefit of the doubt at first. When we were cashing out he said our total was $29 and told him we wanted to split it. Without a word he took my card and ran it. When he came back and told my friend her total I was confused and asked if my personal total was $29. In an extremely sarcastic email tone of voice he asked me what half of $29 was. I told him there was no reason to get smart with me. No apology, no word about it. The food sucks and they literally have metal folding chairs. Looks like it hasn't been updated since the 80s. Literally the only good thing about the place is the view. Skip it.

Canela L.

Yelp
I walked in with my significant other and the people ignored us. We saw the sign that said you have to go to the bar to order and no table service, so my SO went up to the bar to order. The bartender ignored us while we waited at the bar and asked a different couple that arrived after us for their order. I've never been to a place with such disregard for their patrons. It was dirty, dingy, and poor service. Only good thing was the view, but not worth it. Go somewhere else .
google avatar

Maggie S.

Yelp
If you like low key, old school bar bars, you'll love City View. On a hillside in Mt. Adams you can grab a brew, a burger and a birds eye view of the city all at the same time. The bar is simple, the food is simple and the vibe is chill. I usually opt for a bloody mary, a burger and a bag of chips (the only other food options are bbq sandwiches and chili). To me, this is a bar. How a bar should look. How you want to feel hanging out in a bar. Definitely a Cincinnati treasure.
