We have been to a few shows here and it's always a good experience. Parking is easy and the staff at the venue is great.

Google
Not terrible, but not fantastic either. The venue is nicely maintained, but too many seats crammed in, so not adequate leg room, and I’m not a tall person. This also makes it difficult to get to seats in the center of a row - getting past people already seated. The sound system, or at least the programming we heard or our event was shrill. Not so bad that it was loud - if the midrange through high midrange were higher quality, it wouldn’t have been as physically painful on the ears as it was. For such an affluent area, the tight seating and and less-than-stellar sound quality of the theater has it leaning a little bit to the disappointing side for the area, in my opinion.

Google
My husband took me there to see and hear Chicago play. The sound system there is grade A ... it was a fantastic night the music was a take me back down memory lane .. they are a timeless group... please go hear them play if possible. Civic Arts Theater of Thousand Oaks wonderful place to go for a night out.... 👍

Worked with a great group of people who work there regularly and I would love to go back and continue getting to know them. As well as the venue

Watched the trockadero ballet here great venue comfortable seats, you had full view of the stage from even the last row of the orchestra. Located near many restaurants and places to eat before a show!

I work on the remodel of the Performing Arts Theater. Looks really nice. Probably never see it in action though, kinda far form HB. Flooring installer, Go Cir.

I was a vendor at this event for a fundraiser. We were at the Fred Kavli building and there were 2 floors of Halloween decoration. I was stationed in the founders room and the decor was lovely. I didn't get to go into what I believe to be an auditorium where the fundraising auction was held. This building is incredible and hopefully be used for weddings and other events. There is a fair sized parking structure immediately next to it so parking seems to be reasonable.

Very convenient place for me to enjoy the arts. The place needs updating for sure. The staff are very helpful and kind. Bar & snacks are a little pricey. Easy to get in and out of.

Yelp
We have attended a fair number of performances at both theaters at this location when in the area. The item of concern for us is when in attendance recently with our grandmother, whom at 89 has mobility issues. The before performance experience is out of control and poorly managed with neither the security or ticket personnel appearing to care. We don't believe our experience was isolated to that week of performance options that we chose to attend as each visit was virtually the same. Unsettling and not what one expects of a quality theater experience. We are hoping the local school event in the larger Kavli theater this evening will be a more traditional and pleasant experience. We are here to support our families children and make a fuss of our young theater performers in an event 5/1. Their is NO accommodation for handicapped services with a high bar and small cutout ticket recovery area and as we were told not all performances are set up for those with wheelchair and attendants seating. The lobby "will call" process is a disaster and (I will try to excuse the behaviors by saying) the new lady handing that function is not very helpful or polite. We were asked to step aside while she assisted others and we were totally ignored for over 30 minutes. Finally I got back in line and was assisted by a more seasoned employee that offered up a resolution to end floor seating only minutes before the performance. We missed the introduction and were unwilling participants to what one may refer to as an "ackward spectacle" despite arriving long before most of the patrons. We suggest PRINTing your tickets as many others were exhausted and unruly about their inability to pull up their tickets to enter the theater. WE will not return and hope others read this review and take their DONOR allocations, loved ones and $$ to theater venues where there is Respect and Empathy for all Patrons. Yelp
Happy that I was finally able to see an event here at the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza. It's surprising that I haven't been here before given how frequently I attend concerts and such. Came with some friends the other night to see ZZ Top and it was a really good experience. We opted to park near the restaurants off to the side of the venue which I think was smart. It was easy in and easy out. I had read reviews about the parking structure being rough and I'm glad we didn't experience that. We came early enough (too early in my opinion lol) so snagging parking was very easy. The side entrances were easy to maneuver and we didn't wait long before they started scanning tickets and getting us through the security checkpoint. I appreciated that the security was reasonable and not overkill. The civic center is what you'd imagine. Three floors and pretty classic in terms of looks and structure. No wow factor but it gets the job done. The auditorium was clean and the seats were cushioned and comfortable. The ambiance is what you would expect for thousands oaks. The crowd is typically "seasoned" so don't expect a rocking night out if you come here, especially if the band or speaker is geared towards a more mature audience. If I would have been more with my age crowd we would have been standing, dancing and rocking out seeing a classic rock band like ZZ Top - however this audience is the sit and clap variety. I wanted to be respectful to the people behind us and follow the gender crowd, so it was a more subdued experience but enjoyable nonetheless. The staff here are very nice and professional. Even the staff are a bit older here but I appreciate their politeness and ability to move everyone along and to be organized. The staff here seem like experts and definitely make this an easy venue to navigate with their help. The bartenders were located on each floor which was appreciated and they moved fast. Good vibes all around. Prices seemed pretty reasonable to me, with a cocktail being $12 for a single. Other venues up-charge even worse so I was content. Overall I enjoyed my live music experience here and I'd definitely come back depending on the band or speaker. It's definitely an intimate and safe way to see one of your favorite artists that I'll definitely be watching their website for future events.

Yelp
Fun venue! The theater that we were in was rather small. But it made it feel rather intimate. We saw five for fighting! Great performance! Super clean location and accessible! They charge $15 for parking.

Yelp
Been to this place many times over the years. I have seen several stand up shows, concerts and my daughter even had dance recitals there. Never had a bad experience and the service is always excellent. The grounds are always very clean and tidy and the seats are comfortable. Tonight might be the last time I go there however because they no longer take cash. I asked why they can't take legal tender and he said it was the rules. So if they refuse to take legal tender I will refuse to go.

Yelp
I just purchased tickets for the Nutcracker ballet for December. Dylan was excellent in finding seats to my liking. The prices were amazing. I go every year and she gave me excellent service on my ticket purchase

Yelp
Came here to see the choir perform along with the symphony. I had such a great time. It was a cozy theater and all the staff members were so enthusiastic and knowledgeable about the theater. They served beverages at intermission. There's even a romantic little balcony. There free street parking if you don't want to pay $15 to park in the structure- you're welcome! This is a little gem.

Alberto C.

Yelp
Parking is badly designed. No real snacks or drinks definitely below par. The seating is not very uncomfortable and we were asked to move our seats because they had lighting issues and they would give us better seats. The seats were not better but awful. Do yourself a favor go to a better rated theater.

Yelp
I love having the TO Civic Arts Plaza. From concerts to plays, I always enjoy coming here. It's clean, orderly, everyone is so helpful to help you find your seat. Excellent venue.

Yelp
This place is so horrible. The people are beyond rude and not helpful at all. We had a VIP package for Melissa Etheridge and they would not honor it and would not let us in. We we came early per the vip instructions and they made us stand out in the cold. It was so ridiculous. We weren't the only ones. I will never come to this venue ever again.

Yelp
Wonderful clean, well lit venue. Sound is incredible & Every seat is a value. Whether you're seeing a band, comedian or ballet production, it's comfortable and a true local art scene value

Yelp
The Theater is good. Parking is a bit of a nightmare like most big events. Long time to get in and long time to get out so keep that in mind. If you are interested in seeing Shen Yun which performs there each year, please please please DONT!!!!!!! Spend your money else where. That show is so mediocre and by the end feel straight cult-ish...the dancing is very basic (sorry, I know dancer work hard, but their level is pretty basic). They are more gymnastics then dancers...watch olympics instead. There are 2 cult-ish songs and they are not good at all. The only cool thing about the show is their electronic background screen but that becomes soooo cult-ish by the end. Did I say cult-ish enough?????? Go see any other Broadway show!!!!!! Don't see Shen Yun anywhere!!! Waste of a lot of $$$$$$! I am actually embarrassed that we spent so much in such bullshit.

Yelp
It's so beautiful and relaxing. I will go back bringing my family. We like the front park, it's excellent and very attractive. Nice for enjoying at it with a cold smoothie.

Yelp
Several weekends ago, while in the grips of a bad summer cold, I visited the T.O. Civic Arts Plaza to attend a new musical with three of my female friends. We were celebrating a birthday, and "Little Black Dress - the Musical" seemed like a perfect choice. I mention my being sick because it influenced some of my experience, in that I avoided some of the choices I might make while visiting the theater complex. (Such as parking over behind The Lakes and walking over.) Despite my personal affliction, the four of us had a great time at the performance. Held in the smaller Kavli Theater, the intimate venue fit the performance very well. The patrons gather in the lobby space before a performance, only allowed inside a short while before curtain time. There's a small bar available for the thirsty. Seating options are limited. Adjacent outdoor areas are nearby, though not sure how you'd know when the doors open for entrance to the interior. Friendly hostesses took our tickets, provided programs, and directed us to our seats. The Kavli stage is bigger than I recalled from previous events attended there. It worked well for the modest production with just four cast members. We're very fortunate to have this professional performing arts venue so close by - just have to remember to check their schedules more often and go!

Yelp
The ambiance of the civic center was grand. Everyone was going to the seats and picking up the magazines that was printed for "To Kill A Mockingbird" .

Yelp
My husband had called KLOS in hopes of being selected to receive tickets to see a band play at the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza. He was selected to receive 2 tickets to see Chris Daughtry live. He was told by the executive producer that the tickets would be waiting for us at will call. Well they weren't! KLOS dropped the ball, blew us off, just promised to deliver but didn't . I can't tell you how disappointed he was, not because he loves Chris Daughtry, but because he has been a dedicated fan of KLOS since he was 8 yrs old (I am the Daughtry fan) The bottom line is we really enjoyed the show loved the Civic Plaza & fortunately we're able to purchase tickets at the venue that night! As far as KLOS..... HUGLY DISAPPOINTED‼

Yelp
Great place to see live bands and shows! I came here with my office and got to tour this beautiful place it had celebrity autographs and artwork all over, the seating is very nice and clean, you can tell they really take car of the place, looking forward to seeing a show here in the near future!

Yelp
It is a bit of a drive for me, but I love this venue. The people are always helpful, it is always organized even with lots of people coming and going. I have never seen a bad performance there. One of my favorite spots.

Yelp
So lucky to have this venue in our backyard. Been here a number of times, most recent to see The Sound of Music. The production was fabulous, the acting, the scenery, the orchestra, all made for a wonderful evening. If you've never been here before, here's a little info I'll share. Parking in the structure is $8.00, cash only. If you arrive early, you'll get a good spot closer to the main building, although in all honesty, it's not a far walk from any point in the structure. It does help to back your car in, making exiting easier when the show is over. Folks working the doors are consistently friendly and helpful. Once inside, you are directed to or escorted to your seat. Drinks are available for purchase and if ordered prior to intermission, can be picked up once intermission begins. The drinks are displayed, labeled on a table for you to claim. If you don't have season tickets, you can purchase them directly from the box office for a specific production during the week.

Yelp
Show last night was good. We appreciated Sean's help in providing an enjoyable experience since we needed to use ASL interpreters and we needed to sit closer to see them. He made it very easy to get the interpreters And tried hard to make it work for us. Thank you Sean!! Yes, getting out of the parking structure afterwards took a long time- that was weird. Not sure why.

Yelp
Great venue for concerts or plays. There is a bar outside the venue, inside on the lower level and mezzanine level. Drinks are fairly priced $7 and snacks are $2. There are also non alcoholic options. I sat on the mezzanine level and the seats were a tad small and there are no cup holders. Try not to spill your drink or putting it on the floor in between seats is a great place for them. The staff was great and the venue is really pretty. Parking is free in the lot.

Yelp
We saw Ali Wong (the comedian) perform on stage at this theater. She was hilarious (cried laughing!), we really had a good time watching the stand-up show. Another comedian (Kevin) opened up the show for her, and then she did non-stop jokes for an entire hour. Thousand Oaks was the last stop of her tour, and we're so glad we got tickets to see her! :) The venue was almost full to capacity at 2,000 guests. You can buy drinks downstairs (or upstairs), champagne is $10, water bottle is $3. The ushers are friendly and directed people accordingly to their seats. *husband said the champagne was not good though; not worth your $$ Great service at this facility because I actually forgot my purse when we left the theater, and had to rush back to report it to them. Their security team (or usher team) found the purse and brought it down to me. PHEW, what a relief that it was found! Kudos to their staff for turning it in! :)

Yelp
Goldstar had Discount Tickets for Peter Paul & Mary @ The Fred Kavli Theater in Thousand Oaks. Mary passed away in 2009 but Peter & Paul are still carrying on the tradition of those classic 60s folk songs with the whole audience singing along & clapping all night long. The Kavli Theater has their own Parking Structure & they charge $8.00 for parking here. P & P sang Garden Song, & Down By The Riverside. The duo also sang their biggest hit Leaving on a Jet Plane written by John Denver which rocketed to #1 on Billboard In December of 1969. They also performed some of their other huge hits & Signature Songs like If I Had A Hammer, Where Have All the Flowers Gone, Puff the Magic Dragon, Blowin' in The Wind. They also performed many other songs & sang some individual hits too like Wedding Song (There is Love). They had a finale with This Land is Your Land. What an enjoyable evening. It used to be, you had to have mega bucks & be really rich to have the Good Life, not anymore. The Game has changed. You've been Upgraded. Now You Can Live Like a King on a Limited Budget!

Yelp
Like, but not love. The theater is larger than you would think (seats 1800), and the lower level orchestra is very wide making the disturbing "excuse me" way too often as there are not enough aisles. BTW - there's 3 or 4 levels! You could be 6th row but way to the right, and you'll be very far from the stage. Would I drive miles to get here for a play? No, 10 or 15 tops. Go to the Pantages, Shubert, or Segerstrom for a top-level experience. Acoustics are good, and although this theater seems to get B productions (second-tier travel companies and end-of-career musicians), the local community feel is great and makes up for any deficiency. For walking distance dining, it's next to The Lakes at Thousand Oaks. Options seems to change often, but right now: PF Chang's, California Pizza Kitchen, 9021 Pho, Sabor Cocina Mexicana, Umami Burger. Across the street: Mastros Steakhouse, Akash Cuisine of India, and Bangkok Avenue Thai Cuisine.

Yelp
My reason for visiting this theater is because I missed the Orange County tour leg of 'Kinky Boots'. After seeing the show, I'm glad I had the opportunity to visit such a nice venue! The Sunday I attended, the show started around 7:30p and my sorry self decided to go around 5p-ish so I was certainly cutting it close. The drive up the 101N was not terrible at all, even though it was Sunday, but you never know what can happen with traffic. When I got off the exit, I did get a little distracted but managed to find the garage, which was $8 cash only. Plenty of parking since I allowed myself a lot of time, (probably too much time as I was pretty much 45 minutes early) so I figured I would familiarize myself with the theater, starting with the will-call area. I keep forgetting that since I'm out of LA, everyone here seems so friendly and genuinely willing to help you. Pick up was very easy, and I was directed up to the very top for my seat, the nosebleed section. I should point out there were a lot of stairs. Since I'm out of shape, I was determined to make my way up these, and although it took me longer than what I would like to admit, I did finally make it (there are elevators of course but I was trying to do good for myself here). We weren't allowed in yet, but there was some bench seating outside, as well as the restrooms down the hall. There was also a small balcony area leading to the outside, but it was rather chilly out this night so no one took advantage. If you're afraid of heights, I would not sit up where I was. I am not normally, but when I saw how high up I was, looking straight down, holy heck. I wasn't alone up where I was, but this was more steep than I had expected. Show started on time, and the best part was that we were permitted to move down to closer empty seats after intermission, so a couple others that were near me all grouped up to the front row...of the nosebleed area. I had gotten my glasses from my car so I could see much better too. Overall, I thought this was a great theater. I'm no theater connoisseur but this was good enough for me. Sound was fine, view was depending on how much you wanted to spend, and the restrooms were plentiful. Staff was very helpful as well.

Yelp
Nothing but the best place to go in the City to see performances, concerts, etc. I was here just a few days ago for the Borderline Benefits Concert and had an amazing time! The staff working the event were very kind and helpful to locating our seats for the event. The atmosphere is very nice, clean floors, and comfortable seats. The performance was amazing and had a great time! The Civic Arts Plaza always has something for everyone to enjoy. I will be back very soon to enjoy another spectacular performance.

Rachel B.

Yelp
Oh my gosh, the staff were so kind my sister and I got tickets for the balcony to watch Cinderella. However this particular night the balcony was closed, they weren't even selling tickets for the balcony. So the staff and I were very confused with how I purchased the tickets, even though I scanned them and got in. They were so very nice, and upgraded us to mezzanine! The show was great, ensemble was amazing, parking was fine and easy to maneuver.

Lorraine U.

Yelp
Carpenters Legacy Tour as AWFUL!!! I thought this was going to be a tribute to the Carpenters songs but instead it was a showcase of the piano players musical talent!!! They had finished the show with small portions of several carpenter hits at the end, we wanted to walk out during intermission but i remembered how much I paid for this waste of time and only for that reason I stayed. So sorry I stayed. Then they called up two people from the Audience making background noises with silly horns and kazoos. It was something out of a kids birthday party. So poorly done. I am stunned that Richard Carpenter would have his amazing talents so poorly showcased. If you have not yet attended this show, it would be wise to get your money back before you waste two hours of your day on this disappointing performance.

Yelp
Came here last night for the Prince 4u concert. I had third row pit seats and this was perfect. The place itself is beautiful and really no bad seats in the house. All the employees were friendly and guide you to your seats. They have a couple full bars and they had T-shirt's for sale. The rows have plenty of room to dance, stretch out whatever your heart desires. The orchestra did a fantastic job of playing all of Prince's music. I didn't t care for the male singer they had, I would of been happy just hearing the orchestra alone! A few of my friends felt the same way. If your a true Prince fan this is a must to experience. They played for about an hour and a half, I wanted so much longer to be honest. Parking was 8.00 way cheaper than any other concert venue. I was so fortunate that a friend treated me to this, and it was the best Mothers day gift I could have.
google avatar

Christine S.

Yelp
There were positives and negatives to this place. I loved how big and modern it was and that it had its own parking structure. It also had some nice restaurants right next door to eat at before or after the show. We had flown down from San Jose to see the Lottle Mermaid. The play was fun but the long monologue by the directors and whoever worked there and the raffle after intermission were such a mood killer. If it had just been a quick shoutout that would have been fine, but don't make me sit through 15 minutes of spiel. I'm there to see the play not try to be sold season tickets. Save that for the playbill.

Yelp
Great place! I've seen so many shows at the Civic Arts Plaza. Great quality, always pleases me.
google avatar

Terry P.

Yelp
Very nice venue! We always pass it on the freeway but never had the chance to go inside. Large parking structure (paid parking was $8 when we attended) and easy in and out. I bought tickets late and sat in the mezzanine area since the orchestra was sold out but the seats were roomy and the view was fine. This venue is interesting though, there was no age limit and there were plenty of kids which was good and bad at the same time (due mainly to the parents and not the children). The docents were nice but didn't really handle the seating process well and one of them loved her flash light so much she blinded everyone with it every time she went up and down the steps. Over nice venue but perhaps a management change would help make it a true show experience for all.

Yelp
Yesterday was the third time at this theater. Always enjoyable. This is a comfortable venue with good performances. Ticket and parking prices are what they are. Sound system seems really good. Seats seem really comfortable. Bars to quench the thirst. Very enjoyable.

Yelp
We saw the alley cats and they were absolutely AMAZING!! They are an acapella doo-waap group. They sing those classics from the 50's, dance and do comedy in between. Although most of the audience was much much older it's still a very enjoyable show. We love the civic arts plaza and look forward to seeing something there again!
google avatar

Samuel A.

Yelp
BEWARE if your family has any infant in arms that do not need seat, but you are REQUIRED to purchase FULL-price ticket regardless of age. Theater tries to justify rationale based on fire regulations, quite pathetic. Many museums (even airlines) provide free ticket for under 2 years old, so for head count, theater can easily issue second ticket with same seat number. But instead, this theater adopts mercenary profiteering approach opposite to many tourist and entertainment establishments. Poor taste, lacking in customer service and family-friendliness for a public city venue, disappointing.

Yelp
Attended the performance of Beauty and The Beast today along with my grandsons first grade class. It was a full house !! Sadly though, I was most disappointed with the performance. Specifically the subliminal aspects and the not so subliminal. First of all the political correctness epidemic that has invaded every aspect of society, where all gender identities are jumping out at you ...the obvious gay Larry, the obvious gay despicable and deplorable gals, the comment about Michelle Obama....unnecessary! The beasts enormous rude belch....unnecessary and tacky! I found the entire performance lacked cooth, lacked luster and elegance at almost every level. The majority of the audience were children...this was sadly, a very poorly done rendition of what, is known, to be a classic. The culture could use less PC and more class and etiquette.

Yelp
Its in a nice setting, a lovely building and its open, tree filled and easy to park. Inside, they offer a full bar and great acoustics for a civic arts venue. You wont find a mosh pit, nor will you see many people under 60, but hey - if you want a relaxed, easy evening watching your past heroes play their iconic songs without any stress or strife, well.....

Yelp
Nice building, very clean, convenient location, easy access to a lot of cool small businesses, restaurant and shops. Me-like-a-lot!

Yelp
Invited to attend the YEE (yelp Elite Event) of the opening night of Legally Blonde, The Musical... OH MY GOSH! OH MY GOSH! Gotta give BIG props to Brittany A. & Genna U. for organizing this YEE in my area and providing us with the opportunity to enjoy this unexpectedly wonderful performance! A pleasant surprise was the complimentary tickets... LOVE being on the yelp Elite squad! Just for clarification, the Cabrillo Music Theatre is the musical production company that performs at the Fred Kavli Theatre of Performing Arts, at the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza. Easy parking access. We arrived at 7:40pm with a daunting line at the will call/ ticket booth, but the line moved quickly and we were still able to hit the restrooms before settling down in our seats to enjoy the show. The Kavli Theatre is a modern structure that is even more beautiful @ night. Staff is friendly and VERY helpful. Auditorium is a good size, seating about 1800 people. Well spaced seating, as it wasn't difficult to pass through the rows. I didn't kick or knock knees with anyone to get to our seats. We sat in the orchestra section, Row P, and could easily see all the facial expressions of the performers. Not stuffy at all in the large hall during the performance and never heard a glitch in the sound system. Most men were casually dressed, as it was rare to see a suit & tie (I was out of place rockin' the bow tie), but lots of ladies lookin' elegant in their dresses and heels. As far as the show, Legally Blonde, the Musical, was SO ENTERTAINING! This movie adaptation was FUNNY, with captivating voices & performances, and the music was engaging. I enjoyed the movie, and this musical production stayed true to the film, yet, enhanced the story of Elle Woods... brought it to another level! OH MY GOSH! Bravo Cabrillo Music Theatre... BRAVO! We had a great experience and look forward to more!

Yelp
Compliments of Yelp Elite, thanks to Brittany who organized this event of the musical "Legally Blond." I had watched the movie, driven past on the freeway many times and seen the building, yet never had reason to step inside. It so happened one of my friend's friend conveniently lived a couple blocks away so the timing/location was fairly convenient. Arrived about 7:15 and parked across the street, a minor issue, as we did not luck out with a space in the complex. Fortunately the friend that came with me knew where this theater was located. Took the roundabout pathway to the Civic Arts Plaza and encountered a cute cottontail rabbit along the way, who busily munched on the green lawn. In retrospect, wished I had taken the cue from the bunny. Nevertheless, our tickets were as promised, waiting at the box office window. The seats were fairly comfortable. The facilities were clean and restrooms pristine. I have been told that I have excellent hearing. The volume was adequate. The clarity disappointed me. I think the acoustics could use some improvement. All I know it was not up to my past sound experiences. Saw another musical in Glendale recently, so I suppose that spoiled me. Combine that with having been to the Disney Concert Hall and thirteen years of piano lessons that contributed to my ears being extra sensitive to my surroundings. By the time intermission rolled around, all the freshly made cookies were gone and so were the brownies! Don't do what I did and wait till intermission. Those faux cookies displayed in the "snackbar" area? You may be sorry to find out as I did, that those were only fake samples. The genuine ones were actually made downstairs I was told. It would have been prudent to get the cookie(s) before hand. Another hard earned learning lesson at Yelp Elite events. Overall, an exciting evening, which left us with an energized, feel good, upbeat, feisty and empowering memory.

Yelp
I had the pleasure of seeing Stomp! once again (4th time), and it was a blast. The theatre is still a great venue.......easy in, easy out. Great acoustics, comfortable seating with LOTS of leg room (a real treat after dealing with the likes of the old theatres on/near Broadway). The only thing that I note being different is that they charged for parking. I don't care, though, because it's so easy to deal with. I love this venue, and it's practically around the corner from where I live.

Yelp
The wife and I came here to see Legally Blonde. Great play, awesome cast. This theater has great seating all the way around. We had great seats towards the back middle. The stage is one of the best as you will enjoy any play from end to end. Th staff is great and they are very helpful in getting you where you need to be. Parking is a non issue as it was $8.00 if you park in the lot right before the theater or in the lot underneath. The best part about this playhouse is the fact that many of the stars that start off here go on to bigger roles and great parts. Enjoyable place to see a great play.

Yelp
The first time we went to The Civic Arts Plaza, i saw "Hair" the musical. I had never heard of this musical at the time. It was cool and the songs were good but then everybody... okay I don't want to spoil it for you. You are going to have to see it for yourself!

Yelp
I really like this theater. I would really like it if it were closer. I've been here twice now, once for a comedic performance and once for a musical act. The sound is great and there doesn't appear to be a bad seat in the house, although both times I've sat in the first 4 rows. There is so much leg room and you never find this in theaters any more. The staff appear to be volunteers and are friendly and helpful.

Yelp
I have completely enjoyed being a season member for 15 years in Theatre League. We have great seats and the people around us are always friendly. We have gone to additional performances there and get a discount for being a member, which is a nice little perk. Also, there are some area restaurants that give a discount as well. I will say (and no fault of the plaza), when you go to the theatre to see a play (not a kids performance which they sometime have), you should be dressed up in business casual - no shirt/tie needed, but jeans, flip flops and tank tops do not belong. Maybe I'm old fashioned, but there should be a dress code.

Yelp
Josheph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat turns into A kick to the head and a kick to the shin. I love live theatre and go often, yesterday was my first time at this theater and first to see Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dream Coats.... We drove about an hour and arrived early and visited the concession stand. I ordered a spirit, a water, a bag of Doritios, and a snack for our daughter, total was $35.00 or so. At that time we were told that we were not allowed to bring food into the theater, which is fine. On our way to our seats and after finishing our snacks, which we purchased at a premium at your concession stand, we were reminded at least two other times that there is no food allowed in the theater. During the MCs introduction, there was another reminder over the PA to silence your phones and candy wrappers (which was surprising to me as there is no food allowed inside the theater). I was initially surprised by the amount of young children in the section we were sitting in (mezzanine) but hey, Im all about family and brought our daughter with us. I was really surprised when someone started handing them all candy, I thought... this is probably not a great idea. As much as I would like to say that I was able to enjoy the performance. The child and father behind me talked the ENTIRE performance. The kid kept kicking my chair and I had to look back at the father several times to remove his childs feet from behind my head. After I got kicked in the head I started looking for a place to move but there really was no option. The woman to my right also had four children, one child on her lap (about 5 years old) throwing some sort of tantrum kicked me in the shin. The lady in the row in front of me was taking pictures and videos the entire time so I had to look through a cell phone for many of the peak moments. This is a professional theatre? Lastly as I mentioned before regarding the "no food allowed in the theater", I had to listen to a symphony of candy wrappers the entire show as well as the lady to my right eating apples... really, eating apples at a live theater performance? She couldn't eat before or maybe at the break? Couldn't wait an hour? There were users who witnessed this but decided to do nothing. I really would rather not pay good money to attend a show only to have to police the audience. I feel like we completely was of money and a terrible way to experience a theater performance. The performers were entertaining, it was just really hard for me to sit back and enjoy the show with all of the rudeness going on around me.

Yelp
Most unfriendly volunteer staff at any venue I've been too... makes me think twice about seeing show here because I don't want to interact wIth them.

Yelp
Went here to watch Motown the Musical. We had seats that were high up in the balcony, but by the way the seats were situated, you wouldn't even know. The seats are steep and sit at an angle that makes it impossible for anyone to block your view. It was easy to find, the staff was helpful in helping you navigate the large space to find your seat, and the acoustics were great. There's a restroom on every floor and they sold booze! I would suggest finding a (free) parking spot in the neighborhood across the way so that you're not stuck in the garage after your event. Beware not to park in any of the lots that prohibit public parking and read the street signs that discuss permissible parking hours carefully-they may tow!

Yelp
Wow, this place is amazing! I drove all the way out here to see Colbie Caillat, and it was well worth it! This venue is HUGE and BEAUTIFUL!! I liked how it was all indoors, too and the seats were so nice!! Oh, and the parking wasn't crazy, either. We came about 15 minutes before she was going to perform, and we got a VIP spot where someone else usually parks for just $8, haha.
