Yelp
I love AYCE sushi, but my husband doesn't. CJ Palace allows us to both get the meals we want! It is tucked in the furthest corner of a Sparks shopping mall, and I wouldn't have known it existed without Yelp. Nevertheless, there is ample parking, and there were a healthy amount of guests when we visited for a special Sunday date lunch.
Post-COVID, I sometimes worry about the effects of staffing challenges on the dining experience. There's no need to worry at CJ Palace. There were so many staff members doing their jobs well, including two bussers. Our server was friendly and attentive. My husband only wants meat and rice, and she made a great recommendation to order a la carte from the dinner menu rather than from the lunch menu to get a larger portion. The portion was generous, and we now have extra meat to make two weekday work lunches.
I was very happy with my AYCE experience. To me, three rolls is more than enough (and worth the AYCE lunch price, which is $26), and at other places, I've sometimes felt weird eating so little. I appreciated that the server didn't make me feel weird here, and that she trusted that no, my husband is not at all going to be trying to sneak bites of my AYCE. In my experience, I've found other places to be hesitant if both parties don't order AYCE.
The sunomono cucumber salad was the best I've ever had at an AYCE restaurant, and my rolls (Godzilla, Dragon, and San Francisco) were delicious. I usually eat grocery store and hospital cafeteria sushi, so real sushi was such a treat.
When we paid the bill, our receipt came with a discount coupon for dinner. I wasn't going to take it, because we usually eat out only for lunch and not for dinner. My husband said TAKE IT, we're going to use it, and because he is the pickiest eater, that solidified the five stars from me.
