I stopped by in the morning and just grabbed two tacos to start — they were huge, super filling, and totally worth the price. The flavors were on point, and the portion size really surprised me. I also ordered some quesabirrias and they did not disappoint. Everything was hot, fresh, and packed with flavor. Definitely one of the best food truck stops I’ve made — I’ll be back for more and highly recommend it to anyone!

I loved it! The food was very delicious and flavorful. I ordered the Suadero Taco and an Al Pastor Taco. The meat was very juicy and tender. The service was great. The workers were nice and didn’t take long making my food. I loved that they had seating areas to wait and eat your food. In all, Cj’s tacos is an amazing food truck that has great service and food!

I saw a video on TikTok about this taco truck near my work. I purchased the Migas Taco and breakfast taco with egg bacon and potatoes. I asked the lady how many ingredients for $3.25, and she said as many as you like. Most places limit you to 2-3 ingredients, then charge you extra for more. The breakfast taco was pretty big, as you can see in the pic. For a breakfast taco, it was one of the best i’ve had here in Austin area. The Migas was also pretty good, can’t wait to try other tacos for lunch. They do need a sign out near the street ( like one of those banners), so people see that they are there.

Yelp
I approached CJ's truck with, "How's business going for you?" He seemed confused so I told him in Spanish, "The old truck...Paprika. I love Paprika." He saw this as a test. I ordered one suadero, one al pastor, and one campechano taco. The conversation was great and we both understood each other the whole time. He asked if my car was parked where it was and I said it was -- he, like another reviewer mentioned, brought my tacos to my car. It didn't take long even though I ordered three different types of meats. There were three different salsas and they were all incredible. Be careful with the orange and darker green ones...I could handle the heat but I know a lot of people who couldn't. Also the tomatillo salsa was a surprise. I'm typically not a tomatillo based salsa person...more interested in the jalapeno or serrano base. However, I ate all three salsas. The al pastor taco tasted exactly how it should. The suadero was very dry which is why the salsa came in handy. The campechano OMG, the campechano. I would get just this one next time. Read Samuel C.'s review as it is spot on. Wonderful review! When he recommended a downsize of tacos (order one less than you usually would), I totally forgot. There is so much meat in these tacos. THERE IS SO MUCH MEAT IN THESE TACOS. I would have been fine with 1.5. I got more food than I would have at Paprika down the street but I must say an agua fresca option would be great here.   The truck owner was an absolute delight. It wasn't busy at 12:50 so maybe I missed the lunch rush. Still, I think this place deserves a ton more attention! Just go and try CJ's!

Yelp
Another outstanding taco truck in a city with amazing Mexican restaurants and first rate taco trucks. Many many of them are unique and distinctive. CJ's is one of the unique and distinctive ones. Much of what you get here you can't get at other taco trucks. * * * Actually you CAN get what you get here at other taco trucks. You can get them at the three other taco trucks that CJ has opened up already. CJ's chain of taco trucks is expanding at the same explosive rate of success that the Veracruz chain of taco trucks enjoyed. Veracruz is now all over the place and is brick and mortar as well as truck based. I expect CJ to be much the same very soon. I ate at CJ's with two other people. We ordered about six different dishes between the three of us. Everybody raved about every single solitary dish. We ate one wonder after another after another. * * * In many ways, Veracruz and CJ's are very similar. They make an amazing product. People who eat there love them. CJ and Veracruz differ in one key aspect. Veracruz tacos are wonderful - but they largely cater to an American sensibility. There is nothing wrong with tacos made to an American sensibility. Austin Wacko Taco is a bona fide food category. Torchy's Tacos are absolutely first rate. You would never see anything like that in Oaxaca. * * * CJ's tacos are more to a Mexican sensibility. What is Mexican about how CJ does things? 1) CJ's sauces go significantly hotter than those at most other Austin trucks and restaurants. His sauces command major major respect. Measure out your sauces with care. 2) CJ's uses the natural fats of his meats as an essential flavoring ingredient. Austinites eat healthy and like their meat lean. Mexicans are much less shy about using fatty meat. They know how to use the good grease that comes out of fatty meat. They are able to create outstanding flavoring potential. The better cooks - and I would call CJ a better cook - know how to take that grease and make a final product that is not at all greasy. Vegetables and sauces absorb most of that juicy juice. Everything is dry. The taste is out of this world. But this is much much richer food than you are used to. * * * On the fat issue, the parallel institution in Austin is Carnitas Guerrero. Carnitas Guerrero is absolutely uncompromising about going full fat and in your face. It gives them a high quality distinctive product But one that is different from the sensibility of our city of salad eaters. * * * Implication for patrons of CJ's. Go there. Go there a lot. Take your friends from out of town to CJ's But when you go there - Be aware that you are eating a taco that is richer than what you are used to. If you usually order three ... Order two. If you usually order two .. Order one. What you eat will send you to the moon and the stars. Remember that the best things in life are enjoyed in moderation.
