Always prefer local coffee shops than these chains and most often than not, they make better coffee and the atmosphere is better. It's quite busy when we got here but we found a table. My go-to when I get coffee out is latte. (Wish I could find Turkish coffee somewhere but I'm not that lucky). The location is great and I'll definitely be back when it's warmer to explore the area.

Google
I love this place. It came highly recommended by coworkers. They have great original coffee recipes and a very small but delicious food menu. I like the Hot Molly and the salad is scrumptious! Upstairs is cozy with large windows near the front door. It also has a charming basement with a couch and a cozy vibe that would be great for working, studying or just hanging out.

Google
Simply amazing! Visiting from out of town. I got the classic Claddagh Latte which is Irish Cream & Dark Chocolate. I got Almond Milk in mine. This place currently has Almond Milk and Oat Milk as nondairy options. The person I went with tried their pumpkin bread and cardamom and vanilla Irish Soda and said they were both 5/5. Hip and clean inside. Indoor and outdoor seating available (at least this time a year) and a downstairs area as well. Loved it and glad we made the stop! 🫶☕️🇮🇪

Google
One of my favorite spots in Saint Paul! I visit Claddagh several times a week. The miel latte is my go-to—it’s the perfect balance of cozy and sweet, and they always get it just right. On mornings when I’m rushing to work, their breakfast options save me. The egg torta and breakfast sandwich are both delicious and filling, and the oatmeal hits the spot when I want something lighter but still satisfying. The staff is always friendly, as well. So grateful to have them in the neighborhood!

Google
Enjoyed this cute coffee shop in downtown St. Paul. The breakfast sandwiches are really good. Had a hot tea that was nice. Lots of history. Brick walls. Antique chandeliers. Antique tables. Very pleasant! Cute basement seating which I didn’t expect. Clean.

Google
I can't tell you how excited I was to discover an Irish coffee shop in St. Paul. There are so many great local places in the Twin Cities, you can't begin to visit them all, but this was a must, as I'm obsessed with all things Irish. I ordered the blueberry scone with clotted cream and a 16-oz "Claddagh" latte. The foam...Starbucks can't even touch it. It's the small touches that make local coffee shops so much better. The atmosphere here is very warm and cozy, and there is additional seating downstairs.

Google
Highly recommend gotta come try it out some delicious breakfast sandwiches

Google
San Francisco Bay area native. Moved to the midwest and travel for work. Ended up in St. Paul. Drove by and was instantly intrigued. Being of Scottish ancestry I always gravitate towards Celtic business. I was comforted by the warm atmosphere and rustic yet authentic charm of Claddachs. The basement seating area was especially inviting, and if it weren't for work, I would gladly stay an entire morning on the couch, with my salty dog, a good book, taking in the punk rock from the stereo and the wonderful atmosphere. Bought 4 bags of wayfinder to send back home to my West Coast family. Don't ever change Claddachs. You checked all the boxes of this California native.

Yelp
Spectacular coffee shop in an old building oozing with charm and character. The top floor has lots of natural light and tons of artwork on the brick walls. We stopped in with a big group of kids and adults in the morning on Good Friday and it was crowded but we were able to find seats on the couches downstairs. Maybe it was because I'd been up since 3am, but the chai I had was one of the best I'd ever had, at least compared to where I'm from in NJ. The rest of our group all had a variety of smoothies, teas, coffees and scones. Such variety in the menu and all of it superb. I highly recommend this place if you're a fan of locally owned, slow paced coffee shops.

Yelp
Had a stellar experience at this tiny coffee shop in Saint Paul. I was staying in an airbnb nearby, and it was recommended by the owner. It met and then exceeded my expectations: friendly, efficient service, delicious drinks, and lots of light food options, including gluten free donuts from SIFT (I got the blueberry and it was quite good). If I'd had time, I would have returned, and I will certainly go again if i'm in the area.

Yelp
Great ambiance, just a nice looking coffee shop. Maybe a little echoey, but not overly loud. Well laid out menu, and very neat looking latte items. Coffee is very good nice and creamy, great flavor. And very quick.
google avatar

Heather K.

Yelp
This coffee shop has some of the best scones I have ever eaten in my life! I encourage anyone who is a connoisseur of this pastry to try them out. The coffee is also excellent even if the service at times has been a little bit slow. They make up for it in the quality of their food.
google avatar

Yelp
This place was a unique shop that includes an upstairs area and a downstairs area with couches. The carmel latte I got was great & came out quick. Baristas were polite as well.

Yelp
How have I never updated my review for this gem before? I will keep it short and sweet. The coffee? Phenomenal. Try the Dirty Seamus or Nutty Mick. The food? Also quite tasty. I keep meaning to take a picture of the breakfast sandwich but honestly eat it so fast I never remember. The service? Fantastic. The owner is such a great human being and you can tell that the place is run with care. The inside is extremely cute. I love the basement section that has darker lighting and couches if one so chooses. The upstairs features art by local artists which rotates pretty frequently. Seriously come here. I will continue driving out of my way to come to this one of a kind Saint Paul staple.
google avatar

Reana L.

Yelp
Loved this coffee shop theme and vibe! Everything was Irish themed from the cute knicknacks and drink names to the stained glass windows. I love how they had Irish blessings everywhere! I personally tried the dirty Seamus which is a dirty chai. Super tasty on a cold day.

Yelp
Cozy cafe, window to 7th St is great for people watching. Unfortunately, weak latte and customer service. (zero TYs given) I'm hoping today's service was a one-off situation.
google avatar

Yelp
One of my favorite coffee spots in Saint Paul. Stop in for the scones, stay for the coffee drinks. Served with clotted creams and preserves upon request, their scones are among the best in the twin cities. They are actual scones, not just doughy blobs thrown in an oven. If you like real scones, stop here. They also serve up delicious coffee drinks- I especially like the hot Molly. but seriously, the scones alone are worth the stop

Yelp
Excellent little Coffee House. The signature Claddagh Coffee is a great tasting cup of coffee. Plain scone with lemon curd outstanding. Atmosphere super Great.

Yelp
An excellent study spot! The coffee is so smooth and delicious. I tried the dark chocolate, coconut drink - I believe it's called The Irish. The baristas are kind and efficient. The vibe is moody and cozy. This quickly moved to the top of my rotation of study spots. Pro tip - outlets are hard to find on the main level, grab a table near an extension cord if you can!
google avatar

Yelp
One of our absolute favorite coffee spots! The Black and Tan is hands down the best! Great coffee flavor and not too sweet. Add an extra shot for a kick. It's a cute interior with seating for work or studying. There is a downstairs as well with more seating and a bit more quiet. The parking can be a challenge but there is free parking a few streets up. The online orders work great and are always ready when we get there. They have outdoor seating on the street and treats for dogs inside! The baking is great too, get the Irish coffee cake!

Yelp
I ordered a hazlenut and chocolate latte, a egg cheeese and bacon breakfast sandwhich, and a side salad. Every single part of my meal was amazing. The latte had an amazing foamy head on it that was almost silky with every sip. It wasn't too sweet and had a nice coffee flavor that complemented the syrups well. The breakfast sandwhich was like no other I have had. It was on a poppy seed roll, the eggs were soft boiled, and the bacon was more like prosciutto. I even got to pick my own cheese. It was delicious. There was a seasoning on there that I cannot pin point, but I did really enjoy. Even the side salad that was just lettuce and homemade dressing was so good. I wanted to ask how they made it so I could have it at home. This location is cute, has a nice theme, and is a calm space to be in. When I go to a coffee shop, my standard expectation is that I will get a coffee that doesn't taste bad and a pretty generic sandwhich. I want good wifi and ambiance, and a space that is designed well enough that it won't feel stuffy when busy. Claddagh Coffee blew my expectations out of the water. I will 100% be back. Might be a new favorite in the area!

Yelp
A super quaint and cozy coffee shop with delicious coffee. Furthermore, the employees were friendly and helpful and there was plenty of seating where I could enjoy my coffee and have a conversation with a friend! I will definitely be back!

Yelp
Stopped in to get coffee and breakfast on our way back home. The coffee was great but the breakfast sandwich was AMAZING!!! Between the homemade Kaiser roll and the over hard egg that melted in your mouth it is the best breakfast sandwich I have ever had. We will defiantly be back the next time we are in the area.
google avatar

Michael K.

Yelp
This was my first visit here. I saw they served a breakfast sandwich so I came here with a friend and ordered it with sausage and the St Paddy's coffee (coconut + dark chocolate). The sandwich was fine, could have used some cream cheese but the star of the show was the coffee! I had my buddy try it and we were both blown away with how smooth it was! The leaf design was a nice touch too. Absolutely will be back to try more coffees!

Yelp
Delicious, cute, not a ton of space to sit, but perfect for grabbing coffee after my morning run

Yelp
My all-time favorite coffee shop in the entire metro. There's just something so lovely about this place. It's warm, inviting, and it just reminds you of your favorite neighborhood bar in all the best ways. (West 7th is full of those too, by the way) Come here on a Saturday morning with a friend, hang out at one of their many tables (make sure to check out the cozy basement seating!) and hang out for a while. I definitely recommend trying the drink Dropkick Murphy - which is an iced espresso drink served over ice with Coca Cola and a delicious cream. Sounds strange, but is strangely addicting. And whatever you do: don't pass up the breakfast sandwich. It is truly a delight and made to order.

Yelp
I've been meeting friends and family here off and on the past few months, and it's become one of my faves. Here's why; - quality: both the coffee and the pastries/cakes are always great. Nice variety, always fresh - service: it's not a huge space, but the staff is cheerful and efficient, so that the experience is always positive and pleasant - ambience: it's such a cozy and well put-together place to spend a few minutes. Such a welcome change from generic, franchise shops with all the clamor and hard surfaces.

Yelp
Cozy! Comfy! Local! Lovely! Claddagh instantly sparks joy in my heart. St. Paul is beyond blessed to have this local community shop. The baked goods, friendly staff, coffee drinks, "wisdom of the day" chalk board quotes, smoothies, breakfast sandwiches, doodle journals at the bar area, etc. are all around amazing. Thank you for making each visit so magical!
google avatar

Yelp
I have like, 1/8 Irish heritage so I feel like I can give a legit review of this place. Overall: incredible. Homey as hell. And they make a dope oat milk latte. I've used this place for their WiFi for perfectly pleasant meetings and have used them to have actual physical meetings with people that have been desperately awkward. The great drinks and baked goods helped to make those experiences good, though. A true West 7th Great.

Yelp
Nice local coffee cafe serving Dogwood Coffee which is local roaster and Great coffee. Nice atmosphere, crumb cake was delicious and double espresso mmm rich creamy and ton of depth.

Yelp
We were in the area so we stopped by for some drinks. Loved the rustic vibe of this cafe. Very unique and perfect for St. Paul. Everything from the chalk menu to the hidden gems around the cafe were so fun. My husband got the Nutty Mick - hazelnut, dark chocolate, espresso with oat milk. His drink was so smooth and delicious! No hint of bitterness here. Not too sweet but the flavor of the coffee was perfect so you didn't need too much sweetness. I got the London Fog Latte with regular whole milk and it did not disappoint. Very creamy with the perfect hint of vanilla. Not too sweet. Went well with some morning donuts. They have a large pastry selection which they make in-house at their other location - I'll have to divulge in some of those items next time. They also have a limited breakfast menu. Husband and I both agreed this is a coffee shop we would love to visit again some day! The only downside was that it was busy even at 9:10 am - we waited in line and got our drinks in about 15+ mins. But I could tell the baristas were working as fast as they could. Just goes to show that the place is popular ! We didn't mind waiting and people watching.

Yelp
Got a chai latte and it was very u inquest which I really appreciate. Went on a Friday morning and it was nice and quiet plus we got our drinks quickly which is always a plus!

Yelp
Walk in to some nice ambience. While a bit narrow, there's several places to sit and work to the right of you as you walk in. There's a variety of coffee drink selections. There's also smoothies if you're not a coffee person! Their mixed berry smoothie is delicious btw. As for my daily dose of caffeine, I got a cold press. Get the real flavor of the beans! Light bitter taste. Smooth. But you really taste the fruitiness in this. I enjoyed it on a warm day like this day. I also got the Sister Mary (specialty coffee drink). Yo, never really had something like this but it was a welcome surprise. It's pairing your espresso flavors with caramel (as opposed to chocolate) and orange!!! Yo, orange?! It's an odd but great combination. The orange flavor isn't too overwhelming. It's like having an orange peel in your coffee just to add a hint of it. While the drink is sweet also, it's not overwhelming. You can taste the milk and espresso along with everything else. Would I order this again? On days I need a nice punch of flavors, most def. Anyway, I sat down in the main area and it was very nice. Great ambience, light music, Irish culture all around. I then moved down to the basement area where you get a different, more relaxing and cozy vibe. There's a a couple of sofas, waist level dining table, and a standing table with chairs. I'm digging the option of this place for work and hanging out. I'd come here again next time. At the time of my visit, it's a Thursday 11am-2pm, not very busy. Just enough noise to keep the flow flowing.

Yelp
Amazing service and food! I ordered a salted caramel latte and it was perfect, complete with a beautiful foam design. The oats were 10/10 as well
google avatar

Kelsey R.

Yelp
Their drink menu is extensive and creative and I really enjoyed my coffee. The vibe of the store was very cozy and welcoming and it's a place I plan to return when I need a spot to be productive.
google avatar

Yelp
I went for a morning walk with my girlfriend. We had an iced Salty Dog and breakfast sandwich with Gouda and pesto. YUMMY!! I highly recommend
google avatar

Kaitlyn W.

Yelp
Easily one of my favorite coffee shops in the twin cities. I absolutely adore the sister Mary Claddagh drink. During Covid you can either order online or up at the window and the baristas have always been very nice and quick at getting my order to me. (Photo taken ore-covid)

Yelp
Walked in and immediately fell in love with this cafe. The place is bright and has old world charm with the brick walls. It's large with high ceilings, big windows, and the staff is very friendly. I ordered an eggnog latte (don't judge) and a ham and cheese panini. Both were delicious. I posted up next to the front windows to work for an hour and the free Internet was very fast and easy to use. If I lived in this neighborhood I would be here all the time and get to know everybody by name because I think that's this kind of place.
google avatar

Mikayla K.

Yelp
The food: This was my first time trying Claddagh Coffee and I was pleasantly surprised. I got a small black coffee and my friend got a Coconut Latte, which I would definitely recommend! It was delicious. They had a ton of different, funky latte options so if you're interested in trying fun, new coffee drinks, this is the place for you. They also had a small little menu of sandwiches and soups, which all sounded very good. The atmosphere: Decent space upstairs and a little lounge downstairs.
google avatar

Linda R.

Yelp
The coffee was good. The place was clean and quiet. I didn't feel welcomed by the cashier, I felt she was disinterested in customers and in her job. She was mildly helpful in telling me about their offerings. For so early in the morning and nearly no other customers there seemed to be a fairly sizable delay in getting the coffee made.
google avatar

Rogen A.

Yelp
best coffee in st. paul with amazing seating in the basement, baristas are kind & helped me find a delicious drink! the place is very cozy and sweet
google avatar

Yelp
I'm still learning my way around the Saint Paul coffee shops but finding this one today, made my day. While I can't fully review food and beverage since I've only had 1 drink, I love the topic of the establishment, the ambience, and the levity of the walk up location! Absolutely love it! Can't wait to spend more time exploring both locations. (My husband is a kilt wearing Mc from the south side of Chicago and if he were a coffee drinker, this would be his jam!!)

Jai K.

Yelp
Walked in today early afternoon and decided to sit down for a cup of coffee. Their latte menu seemed very unique and interesting without being overwhelming. I ended up going with a simple flat white only because I had a cup of latte in the morning and I was not disappointed with my choice. The place was clean and seemed like they had more sitting downstairs. I will be back and try one of the specialty lattes next time.
google avatar

Yelp
Baristas were super nice and overall had a great vibe. The coffee was amazing too! One of my favorite coffee places in St. Paul :)

Yelp
Man, I am diggin this building. Very unique layout, very narrow brick face building with two levels. The downstairs has old stone walls and is nice and dimly lit, a great place to grab a book and sink into a comfy chair. The upstairs is a little bit better lit with an assortment of different sized tables gathered around a large bar. There is also a reservable conference table downstairs if you need to meet people for a meeting or have a larger area for studying or sketching. Nice extra amenity. Dogwood Coffee seems to be what is served here most often which is a pretty stellar roaster. Their specialty drinks are different than other coffee shops which is nice because I feel like most places seem to fall into the same rut depending on who their food and materials provider is. They also have a small menu of breakfast and lunch specialities which looked pretty tasty. Their baked goods are also a step up from typical coffee shop fare. The coffee is pretty good. I decided to try a house signature drink and got the Claddagh. It was pretty good, nothing too impressive. Price point is about what you would expect for a specialty non-commercial coffee shop. The barista was a little pretentious which annoyed me but by the way he poured my drink he has nothing to be pretentious about. All in all not a bad place, this building is seriously the major selling point for me here.

Yelp
Warm and inviting shop in a brutally cold place. This place was pretty cool inside with old world flavor great seating area. I didn't even notice this place had a downstairs area, that I'm sure is warm and fun to hang out at. Lots of cool coffee drinks with even cooler names. I was able to warm up and caffeine up before my flight back home. Decor-Old World Irish feel with exposed brick and old church pews for seating area, simply well done. Larger windows to allow sun light, which wasn't much when I visited. Service-was great! They were very nice and helpful, and patient while I decided on my coffee choice. Made a recommendation which I loved. Coffee-Hot Molly was amazing! Expresó, Cinnamon, cayenne, and steamed milk all blended in a drink full of flavor to warm up all of your insides. I simply loved it, it was really a righteous drink.
google avatar

Yelp
Great little stop with a warm, unique atmosphere. Strong coffee with interesting options with amazing names!

Yelp
Food: I've only had the scones... simple and perfect!! Drinks: This coffee shop knows how to make a perfect espresso. They use high quality beans and have their grind perfected. They have an assortment of fun sugary drinks but my number one is an Oat Milk Latte. Perfect every time. Pros: online ordering, outside seating, curbside pickup, quick, and always perfect! Cons: can get busy on the weekends therefore wait times can be a bit longer. I'd recommend ordering online if you are in a hurry.

Jillian Mae H.

Yelp
Claddagh was a very enjoyable experience ! The staff was so kind and cheery . They had a wide variety of homemade baked goods that I could barely resist . Their presentation of small meals was beautiful and elegant . AND ... I had the most delicious Latte I've ever had
google avatar

Amy S.

Yelp
We like Claddagh's hot beverages and location. They partner with Bootstrap Coffee Roasters and another business (name evades me), so between the two we're set for kind help and guilty pleasures. Good spot to try if you're over chain invasion and bitter brew.

A P.

Yelp
We loved this place for its atmosphere, great coffee and food, and awesome service. So glad we found it!

Citlali G.

Yelp
I had a latte and it was great, also a good place to study and get some work done! The space was clean and smelled of coffee :-) There's plenty of places to sit which is a plus.

Yelp
Great atmosphere, very cozy coffee shop! Staff are all attentive and quick! Fun variety of lattes with out wing overwhelming or overhyped. Large table in the downstairs, great for a book club meeting!

Yelp
Nice, cute coffee shop to get a little bit of work done in the morning. Reminded me of one of my favorites back home! We stopped by Claddagh on vacation in MN. It was only about 10 mins away from our airbnb. We were originally heading for a different coffee shop nearby, but in our quest for parking we ended up much closer to this one and decided to go inside - at this point, I don't remember what coffee shop we were originally aiming for because this one met all our needs. I had hot chocolate and I believe my boyfriend had the Salty Dog latte, and we also shared a vegan donut which was pretty good, although I'm sometimes overwhelmed by the flavor of baked goods made with coconut flour and the donut was definitely one of those. Either way, good food and drinks and a nice, bright atmosphere in the main area upstairs (we didn't know there was a downstairs... oh well!)
google avatar

Malyn B.

Yelp
I absolutely loved Claddagh!! Besides the super cozy and quirky environment, Claddagh's charming Irish decor really is what made it unique. My vanilla almond milk latte was the best I've ever had and the brownie I split with a friend was also incredible. The space is bright, warm, and inviting, the drinks are unique, and the staff is very friendly! Definitely would recommend a visit to Claddagh if you find yourself in St. Paul!

Yelp
This is one of my offices in the Twin Cities. Very chilled and cozy. I could wear whatever I want and do whatever I want...If I wanted to I could sleep downstairs and no one would even noticed me.....ok, not really. Too bad it is a coffee shop, not my personal space area. This place is great with amazing staff and a wonderful list of specialty espresso coffee. I absolutely enjoyed their Dirty Seamus and Nutty Mick. If you are lactose they can substitute to Soy for you. Their coffee ranges from $2.75 to $4.75 which is not bad. Aside from that they serve breakfast and lunch. I had their Belgian Waffle and it was good. I think this place has the best Tomato Basil Soup in the cities. Just too bad that they don't serve it during summer but understandable. The space upstairs is a little small but I like it because of the big windows. Downstairs is bigger for group work or meetings. Overall it is a great place if you are ever in the St Paul area. Street parking.
google avatar

Yelp
Still my most memorable experience with a scone in my life. Their lemon curd and Devonshire cream was amaaaaaaaaazing. The scone and the sweeter accompaniments were a heavenly combination and I've been thinking about that scone since I've had it. The rest of the cafe is great too - unique, cozy, big windows. I think it has a downstairs too for more room, in the basement. Easy to find parking, this place is a definite visit if you're in the area and want to do some studying or working, heck, if you're just in the mood for a scone.

Emma Q.

Yelp
little bit of a wait but i went on a sunday at 10 so that's to be expected. staff are all friendly. a lot of really unique drink choices, all of which sounds great! i got the black and tan (honey & cinnamon). so delicious! i'll definitely stop by again.
