Eastside Beltline Wine Bar and Wine Shop Hazel Jane’s Closes Next Door to Cold Beer in Old Fourth Ward, Atlanta | Eater Atlanta

"Located on the Eastside Beltline next to Kevin Gillespie’s Cold Beer, Hazel Jane’s was a Revelator Coffee–backed wine bar and bottle shop named for Hazel Jane Raines, the first Georgia woman to receive a pilot’s license and a WWII WASP and RAF ferry pilot. I saw beverage director Melissa Davis (Staplehouse) and a knowledgeable crew build a regular following with nearly 150 wines by the glass complemented by small plates from chef Brad Morris; the lengthy list ranged from dusty old-world reds and whites to skin-contact and sparkling wines, hard-to-find bottles, vermouths and fortified selections, and they tracked customers’ sips via a “passport.” Hazel Jane’s ceased dine-in and patio service in late March and operated as takeout and a small retail shop until closing permanently on September 5 due to pandemic-driven financial troubles, a reality Revelator president Josh Owen said made it impossible to run the business as a gathering spot through takeout alone." - Beth McKibben

Nice and clean "dive" bar vibe, good food, excellent service. Came here with my mom for breakfast - we eat breakfast out often. Comfortable booths. Good menu with fair prices. I had three eggs, jumbo sausage and hash browns - my mother had the same but with bacon. We both had coffee (with attentive refills) and our total was $36 plus tip. Will definitely return.

The staff is very friendly and super attentive. The food is fresh and made to order. A special mention for the burgers 🍔. They had great flavor. The fried mushrooms 🍄 were also quite good.

The biscuits and gravy are good enough that you’re not disappointed. They’re not great enough that you’re coming up with excuses to go back. And with the biscuits and gravy, drink and tip comes to $19 you’re asking yourself why did I come here?

Absolutely appalled. I picked up my son from the airport as he returned from Army basic training and A training. The waitress wiped the table down after giving us our drinks and menus, which was weird. We got our food. I thought my omelette was fine. My son said the fry’s tasted bad. Like bad oil. He literally just spent 4 months eating MREs and Chow hall food. Then my husband had about 5 bites of his chicken Caesar salad. He said “this chicken tastes weird”. He ended up throwing up. This man has an iron gut. He told the man working and he went ballistic. Waving his arms all around. He said what do you want me to do about it. My hubby said “well it made me sick. I don’t think I should have to pay for it” The guy literally accused him of lying. Saying “anyone could just go throw salad in the toilet” what the hell. Who says that. When the waitress came with the check he said” I’m sorry I got sick”. He wasn’t being smart or anything. He legit felt bad about it. She was rude and said “ I don’t know why you’re saying that to me. I’m a different person. I had nothing to do with that conversation.” It was seriously so rude and uncalled for. They did take off the salad. We paid, left no tip and left. I’m so sorry that my sons first outing in all these months was this! Needless to say I will not be back again. Not sure what happened but this place used to be a great hangout.
