Google
A fun Mackenzie course in the Oakland Hills. Very friendly club with a great social membership and fun place to hang out. Course is challenging even though it is short and greens are great.

Beautiful golf course, the best and most challenging golf course I have played under 5500 yards. Excellent service, dealing with all service providers and pro shop staff are great.

Google
It's an Alister Mckinsey designed course with fast greens, manicured fairways, an old style golf club with lots of history. The food is great and the drinks are strong. That pretty much covers it. Oh, and no shorts allowed. Long pants only. Old school.

Besides I got into so many bunkers it's an great experience to play here!

Hello today I went to the Claremont country club for lunch and I didn’t even make it. Barely to the parking lot until this Nigerian security man just treated us with like suspect this man didn’t even know what we were doing and to tell you the truth we were praying and he harassed us told us to leave and then another woman walked in and she was a brighter skin and he just waved hello to her that just wasn’t cool and so you guys need to know. I will never go there and I will call the manager and let them know what happened horrible experience

Google
hey guys i just broke in here through the hole in the fence and it seems like a lovely establishment. honestly i could be more happy with the service because nobody called the cops on me. overall the whole place has quite a nice atmosphere and vibe to it. it seems like the kind of place that just keeps on going because it always has. no matter if there are turkeys on the free. or people breaking in through small holes in the fence. the birds are chirping, the golfers are golfing and everyone is happy. i now feel bad that i broke in here. everything is so nice.

Never been inside but have had really bad experiences with the staff and members in the perimeter. Last night some fool was driving erratically in a golf cart shining a light everywhere and almost ran me over. Turns out he was looking for someone that was missing. This was the last guy in the world to find someone, as he couldn’t find me until he was ten feet away from hitting ke with his golf cart. And I was standing under a street light.

Yelp
Charming and delightful are the words that immediately come to mind when describing CCC. I stayed here for two nights and was hosted by a family member who has been a member for many years. Family members from the East and West Coast also stayed, which made for a wonderful time. The building is nostalgic and reminds me of country clubs I stayed at in New York State. The beautiful wood, the grand staircase, and the royal-colored decor took you back to the gilded age. Outside my bedroom window stood two magnolia trees with gorgeous blossoms. The room size was generous, and every morning a continental breakfast consisting of juice and pastries were available only steps away from my door. We enjoyed lunch by the golf course and walked the beautiful grounds. The club rules are reasonable, in my opinion - no denim, shirts must have collars, etc. Perhaps the most difficult rule to follow and remember was the cell phone rule - they aren't allowed. Frankly, not being enslaved to my phone was quite lovely. After a few hours of not using it, I didn't miss it. Also, not being able to use my phone to take photos or chat is the reason I didn't take pictures inside of the facility. I respected the rules. I did take a few photos of the front entrance, though. One of my family members had a reception and birthday party in the ballroom while I was there, hence my reason for staying. It was fabulous! The food, the cocktails, wine, and service were spectacular. From the swing music the band played to the yesteryear atmosphere and attire, this was one of the most memorable weekends I've had in quite some time.

Yelp
Love the sports the Country Club gives! The food is excellent! The Hotel is fantastic!

Yelp
GM was terrible, management did not follow up. Rules are not clear and misleading. Nice course, terrible service.

Yelp
An oasis in the heart of Rockridge. Amazing history and a gem of a Alister MacKenzie course in immaculate condition.

Yelp
In honor of it being our 10 year wedding anniversary this year, I thought I should review our wedding venue. We were so lucky to have our wedding at the Claremont Country Club. You either need to be a member or get a referral from a member to have an event here. We were lucky enough to get a referral. It was such an amazing place to get married. Unlike a hotel, this isn't a wedding factory. We were the only event all day. We had the entire place to ourselves. The grounds are beautiful, the rooms are beautiful, and from what I can remember, the food was good as well. A truly hidden gem in Oakland!

Yelp
The Claremont Country Club is a special place. It manages to be upscale without being stuffy. The staff is professional and high touch yet void of pretension.

Yelp
I lived in the neighborhood and played as a guest at Claremont many times. (Both authorized and unauthorized). The course is kind of short but the history and vibe of deep old-school luxury is meticulously maintained throughout the grounds and within the clubhouse. Very Old Cal. Ben Hogan (his first as a pro) and Sam Snead played in the old Oakland Open here. Oddly it was the bar at Claremont after a guest round that I learned of Ben Hogan's death which had occurred earlier that day. I lost a bar bet on it. The opening slightly uphill par five first hole is a stout test to get you started. And a hilly, tight, challenging but fair test ensues from there. Always in tip-top shape is this first class track. Don't miss the mounted deer hindquarters hanging over the entrance to the men's locker room. No pool table though, unlike Skagit Golf and Country Club, where I now belong =;-)

Yelp
The Claremont Country Club is delightful. The people who work there are terrific. The club itself--the building--is beautiful and interesting. The food in the dining room is delicious, and the wine list is highly curated and the best deal in, perhaps, the country. The sports programs are staffed by excellent and accomplished professionals. The golfers seem, especially, to love the place, and the golf course is held in high regard in the golfing crowd. The tennis program is an undiscovered gem; in my opinion, it's as good as the tennis programs at great clubs in Southern California, where tennis has traditionally had a stronger foothold (that's you, Pete Sampras). The pool couldn't be better, except that it could perhaps be a little less crowded in the summer. The club is also a beautiful place to get married or to hold a function. Note: one of the Yelp pictures is of the wrong Claremont. The Claremont Country Club is not the Claremont resort in Berkeley. One of the Yelp pictures is of the resort.

Yelp
Please do not confuse the Country Club with the Hotel - they are two distinct and separately owned properties. I see one reviewer said she stayed here - it is not a hotel so you can't stay. That said - it was built in 1928 and is a landmark in the Rockridge area of Oakland. A gem that we are all proud of because when people see it they say "This is Oakland?!" Yes... despite the ugly the media focus's on - there is much beauty, history and grandeur that is Oakland. Both old and new. I have attended several business related events here over the years. They always do a very nice job. The house wines are pretty tasty and the staff is extremely friendly. The greens are excellently tended (though it is a private club so what do you expect?!) If you have a chance to attend an event - go! By all means! It really is a magical space that transports you back to the golden era.

Yelp
We just had our company party here yesterday and it was the first time I had been to the country club. It is very elegant and beautiful and has an almost Beverly Hills feel to it - it reminded me of The Ritz Carlton in San Francisco. The party was in one of the back rooms which overlooked the luscious golf course greens. Apparently one of our agents brought in the recipe and had the chef prepare it, the salmon was cooked very well. I took off a star for the service, and almost took off two. While the care given was decent, it just didn't fit the rest of the atmosphere. Simple things like serve from the left, clear from the right. One of our waiters was in a maids outfit and looked like she got pulled from housekeeping to help serve our meal. Apparently there is quite a hefty membership fee, I guess it pays having a boss who is a past Mayor of Piedmont. BTW - apparently they served us wine from a different private party which was $50/bottle retail... ouch!

Yelp
My parents, and the family have belonged here for many years. This is a very exclusive club, and is formal, fun, enticing, and everything else. The club has been around for many years, some changes have been made to some of the buildings, I've been here for some Wedding receptions and was most rescently here for a memorial. The club has done some work in the pool area, and has also added a new fitness center. There are rooms available for rent, similiar to hotel rooms, my understanding is that they are also going to redo these rooms to. The grounds here are very well maintained, and if one likes golf they also have an excellent golf course. The food tends be be best inside versus over at the pool area. Enjoy!!

Yelp
Someone commented "Conservative Palin Lovers." There may be some, but I find they are in the minority. Among my friends who are members, few are even remotely conservative. Whatever they are, they are friendly. As for the club and club house, it doesn't get better in the East Bay. The location is tucked-away, the setting is lush, the architecture is grand, the food is good, and the service is professional. Oh, the golf course isn't bad either!

Yelp
One of my good friends just got married here and it was such a beautiful facility for an outside ceremony followed by a banquet hall reception. There were a few rooms open and they were elegant and beautifully decorated. It was a very sophisticated shindig (well, except for my presence -- helloooo, who doesn't find walking into a wedding with a ball and chain tied to your ankle funny? . . . well, obviously some people). Anywhoo, classy place w/ beautiful views. Minus one star because all the women wearing heels sunk in the lawn during the ceremony. Their bad - I bet the gardener was PISSED!!!

Yelp
We recently had a business function at the Claremont Country Club that was sponsored by a member. We had great service and the newly remodeled dinning room is a great place to hold a gathering. The club has recently build a new golf shop and tennis facility that are spectacular. We enjoyed our time on the property.

Yelp
CORRECTION The folks writing above were actually at the Claremont Hotel and Spa, not at the Claremont Country Club, which isn't far away, but is, in fact, a private club not open to the public.

Yelp
Sat. Sept. 12, 2009, the Claremont was the site for our daughter's wedding reception for 162 people. The staff, the event coordinator etc were amazing. The food was great and promptly served. This was my third daughter so not my first rodeo, but the last wedding I pay for. They were very accommodating. A very elegant site. They even arranged for perfect weather. I highly recommend the Claremont Country Club. Frank D
