Clarence

"After working and living in Asia for over a decade, chef Olivier Elzer founded this restaurant that aims to allow new ways of enjoying French cuisine. He minted an original concept known as “Yakifrenchy” – a menu that serves French classics like duck confit, frogs’ legs and escargots on skewers, like Japanese yakitori. Local family table culture is taken to another level with meat and fish cooked whole on the bone, perfect for sharing." - Michelin Inspector

Clarence HK offers an exceptional dining experience, combining high-quality food with remarkable value at just HKD 600 per person. The dishes embody a Michelin 2-star level of craftsmanship and consistency, perfect for patrons who appreciate refined flavors and memorable meals. Friendly staff enhance the experience, while the wine list is both reasonable and thoughtfully curated. The private rooms, located inside a wine cellar, add a unique, sophisticated touch, and the bar area provides a refreshing ambiance with open windows—ideal during winter. Clarence HK delivers a harmonious blend of exceptional food, service, and atmosphere for true connoisseurs. If the clients are looking for a quiet place to eat for a good time or blaming the food for being too pricey, I would rather they make themselves a lunch box and take it to the library.

An Okay Birthday Visit with Some Missed Notes We chose this restaurant for a birthday dinner. The staff were nice enough to put candles on our dessert and offered a Polaroid photo to capture the moment, which was a thoughtful touch for the occasion. The food is generally on the heavier, saltier side Portion sizes are decent, and we left feeling full ( For dessert, we ordered the chocolate lava cake. Unfortunately, it was overcooked. The outside was a bit dry and had a strange, floury powdery texture and the crucial molten centre was still there. The biggest disappointment of the night was regarding their membership. I had signed up earlier, and the membership includes a $200 welcome coupon. However, I was told it cannot be used on the first visit and is only valid from the second time onwards. The most frustrating part was that they couldn't show me where these Terms and Conditions were stated when I signed up or on the coupon itself. This felt misleading and put a slight damper on the celebration. Overall, it was an average experience. The birthday gestures were appreciated, but between the flawed dessert and the coupon confusion, it fell short of being a great night.

Very nice French dining restaurant. The food are good but the portions are too small. 3 out of 5 ppl. Needed to have additional food at home after meal. They have a bar that you can have a drink after dinner. Good to have friends to have dinner first and than having bar food afterwards.

We had the most wonderful experience dining here. The hospitality was beyond exceptional – the kind of warmth and care you remember long after the meal ends. The French cuisine was truly incredible, and their rotisserie chicken was hands-down the best we’ve ever had. They somehow made the chicken breast unbelievably soft, tender, and full of flavor. Absolute perfection. What touched us even more was their compassion. One of our family members had just been discharged from the hospital and needed extra time. We arrived past their lunch opening hour, and yet the entire team welcomed us with full service, patience, and genuine understanding. They made us feel cared for during a moment when we really needed it. We are endlessly grateful for the team here. You deserve more than 5 stars. Thank you for making our day so special. 🥹💎

Enjoyed the restaurant week special menu here , recommended by friends. Food: 3 courses included starters, main and dessert, great quality and portion with nice appearance and presentation. Beef and chicken are very tender with comfortable seasoning. Dinning experience: all staffs are foreigners and very good at service and hospitality, will be monitoring the food standard and asking about how do you think of the meal during the dining time. The overall level of satisfaction is very good, will come to enjoy the experience once again. CP value: I think It could be fair when considering all the factors , approx. 700 per person after enjoying the wine pairing.

Excellent food and services! Special thanks to Kelvin, Jean and Anthony who helped me a lot in arranging this lunch meeting of a table of 14. It’s hard to find a restaurant in Central with such good quality of food, as well as nice environments and impressive services. It’s a highly recommended place and I will certainly come back again very soon !

Really reasonably priced Michelin set menu. Really liked the escargot but everything was good and had different options so if you go with a friend can try everything. Really nice.

Happy to see that there is a seasonal menu on top of the regular set lunch menu. Had the chestnut soup, hanger steak and molten chocolate cake, everything was tasty and nicely presented. Great restaurant for business lunch or catching up with friends.
