🎶 Party rocking in the house tonight, it's gonna be a good good time! 🎵

My experience was electric. Thank goodness it wasn’t an EDM night because those nights are terrible. Stick to popular music please

Marissa Puyo

That blond lady that runs the “vip and tables” section was EXTREMELY rude. My husband was trying to ask her a question and she was yelling at him not to lean on the table or railing (he was not at all) - he had to wait for her to stop screaming at him to ask if he could ask her a question. Absolutely unnecessary. We were trying to go out and have a fun night and she completely ruined our mood.

Google
Bouncer didn’t believe my ID was real, even after scanning it, and then walked several blocks over and handed it to THE POLICE, who told him it was real. After that he refused to apologize and even doubled down, saying he didn’t have to let me in. Avoid at all costs.

This place has the best customer service of all dc/va area clubs! If you're a girl, you will feel so safe and taken care of here as opposed to most places in DC! Definitely my favorite club in the area. Shoutout to the bathroom keeper lady in the basement, she is the best!

Every year (including today) the Ballroom has the most obnoxious and excruciatingly loud block party you can imagine, including a DJ that screams through an amplifier at an indifferent crowd. We live in an apartment complex on the same street. The music is so loud that our windows rattle and we can’t hear ourselves talk even though we are on the 6th floor. The party goes late into the evening, and we’ve had to call the police. There are people with sensory disabilities in our building who are forced to endure this, and we even had a neighbor break her lease and move out because of it. We’ve lived in Clarendon for three years and have gone to nearly every venue in the area except the Ballroom because the Google reviews are terrible, and so is this event.

There are not enough stars to capture how wonderful it was to have our wedding at Clarendon Ballroom!!! When we first started looking for places in DC to get married, we were a bit overwhelmed by the choices. Thankfully we came across Clarendon Ballroom. We actually didn't know that they did weddings, and we are SO glad we learned that they did, as they don't just "do" weddings...they make the wedding of your dreams possible! We found them to be very affordable, and they do everything in house--linens, staff, bar, food, even the cake! It was so nice to be able to go down the checklist and say "included" to so much and to work with a single venue on so many of the key elements that pull a wedding together. They were an absolute dream to work with! From picking out linens, to our tasting, to helping execute every last wish that we had, they amazed us every step of the way. When we picked up our stuff on the Monday after our wedding, not one single item of decor was missing or damaged and they had gone above and beyond to save the top of our wedding cake (we didn't even ask for this) and send us home with some left over hors d'oeuvres from the cocktail hour! Amazing! Our guests are STILL raving about how gorgeous the venue was, how amazing the food was, how much they loved the location and how cool the rooftop was. I am so grateful to Clarendon Ballroom, Sandra Hoehne, and all the other amazing staff that literally pulled off the wedding of our dreams and I am SO glad that my husband and I chose Clarendon Ballroom as our wedding venue!

Niiice place, bar needs to have real pineapple juice, cranberry juice and orange juice to mix drinks with. And need experienced mixologists in all cocktail drinks.

Yelp
I was very excited for my first time to Clarendon ballroom. I knew back in the day it was a classy place, but they changed a bit and I decided to have my birthday there. I will say they have amazing taste in DJs. That aside, the beginning of the night was wonderful. They have a great set up. The problem is I reserved a cabana for my party and not only did we have to go downstairs and find the manager or find somebody to tell us what the deal was and when we got there, people were sitting in the cabana that I had already reserved. We moved our party downstairs, but we had to chase the staff around for drinks. We spent about $2,000 and not only was the bottle service slow, but it was served by bartenders, who are women in very skimpy outfits, which was slightly objectifying and was not quite what other women want to see. On top of that, security seems to be real keen on doing their job with kicking people out, but did not keep people out of the VIP area at all. If you pay for a service, you are entitled to receive it. We paid for an area and when I came back inside from smoking a cigarette and it was my party there were people I did not know drinking in our VIP section without wristbands. As a business if your going to take peoples money, then you deliver on your promises. If you want an actual "VIP experience" and get what you pay for, please save yourself the trouble and go somewhere else. Totally ruined my birthday I don't think I would ever be a patron at this place again and I feel like we were slightly robbed. UPDATE: So it turns out since no one was keeping people out of the VIP area, we strongly believe someone who was not with our party may have ordered something, drank it and left and then stuck us with the tab. When we reached out to the Ballroom to resolve the issue, we received zero communication. Unprofessional to say the least.

Yelp
I pop in here randomly not so often. When I do tho I'm usually always drawn to the roof top.. whether it's summer or winter that roof is always open!! I like the roof simply for the view and also fresh air above ground. It's a nice set up and a lot of sitting. The bartenders switch up a lot so never really have a stead person to rely on when coming back. Recently I had an amazing hot cider and hot toddy there. It mostly filled with a younger crowd so don't expect much just some college kids enjoying there self with libations lol.

Yelp
I order 5 shots and he said 45$ and I add 1 more and gave him 100$ bill and he charged us 86$ lol Care full people about this place ! Be sober like me I asked him why you charged 86$ and he ignored me and left the place ! I don't care about money because I had really fun today with my friends ! 2 stars just because of music and interior design Poor service Dishonest customer service Rudeness

Yelp
If I could give no stars I would but we will say one star for the super sweet bouncer at the front door. Other than that, we came for cinco de Mayo. The blonde bartender on the rooftop was the rudest person I have ever met in my life and didn't care about guests being there. She over charged for our drinks and clearly hated having to be at work. We left after our first round and thank god we did

Yelp
Clarendon Ballroom exceeded all my expectations during my recent visit last weekend. It was an absolute blast! The venue itself exudes a fantastic atmosphere, with its spacious layout and stylish decor. The energy in the air was electric, and I couldn't help but be captivated by the vibrant ambiance. However, what truly made my experience exceptional were the amazing bottle girls at Clarendon Ballroom. Their impeccable service and attention to detail were second to none. They went above and beyond to ensure that my friends and I had an incredible time. Their professionalism, friendliness, and knowledge of the menu were impressive. From recommending the perfect drinks to providing prompt service throughout the night, they truly made us feel like VIPs. I must also mention the fantastic selection of beverages available. The variety and quality of drinks left no stone unturned, catering to a wide range of tastes. The bottle girls' expertise in curating personalized recommendations made the experience even more enjoyable. Overall, Clarendon Ballroom is a must-visit venue in Arlington, VA. The combination of its vibrant atmosphere, exceptional service from the bottle girls, and an extensive drink menu make it a memorable destination for a fun night out. I can't wait to return and create more unforgettable memories at Clarendon Ballroom.

Yelp

Yelp
This random blonde white girl that was obviously belligerently drunk fell on me and aggressively grabbed me tonight. A black male security guard witnessed the entire incident. He saw that I was distraught and he didn't do anything. The employees need to stop selling people alcohol and/or security needs to kick people out if they are obviously belligerently drunk! You're putting your customers in danger. I also believe that the security guard ignored the incident because I'm a black woman, and the violently drunk girl that fell on me was white. If the roles were reversed (drunk black girl fell on white girl) the outcome would've been completely different, the security probably would've kicked me out. I don't recommend this place and I wouldn't return because it's a very messy/sloppy environment. I can see why the reviews of this place are so terrible!

Yelp
The bouncer tried stealing my friends prescription medication when he went in. The bouncer said he would ban my friend if he didn't get to keep the medication. It was the older African American bouncer around 50-65 years of age.

Yami A.

Yelp
I do not recommend anyone coming to this place if your ordering drinks. I ordered a double margarita for 2 drinks and she charged me for double which was $31. The drinks had 0 alcohol and she claimed she put alcohol in it. It was plain juice. Mind you I know what a margarita has and taste like. It's my all time favorite drink. I was so mad, dissatisfied and disappointed. I'm never ordering drinks from here again. It was suppose to be a fun Halloween night and it was the first bar I went to. NEVER AGAIN. PLEASE AVOID GETTING DRINKS FROM THIS PLACE. If I could give a 0 star I would.

William F.

Yelp
I have been here many times and have probably spent thousands here. The bouncer tried stealing my friends prescription medication claiming it was contraband, despite it having his name on it. Then, when my friend says oh ok, I'll just leave and put my medication back at home, the bouncer said no I am keeping it. Then, my friend threatened to call the police and the bouncer gave it back to him and told him he was banned unless the bouncer got to keep the medication. It was the older african-american bouncer that works there.

Yelp
Happy new year... though I know we're weak and very weary. Lol I decided to party here with one of my besties to ring in the new year as international... super spies....SUPER SPIIIIIIIES! :) (I actually sang that) The theme to ring in 2022 was 007 and it was about 50 bux which was a decent party price considering the hundreds of dollars or canceled alternatives. Now... don't get me wrong, yes I know we're in a "panini press" and nobody wants Omarion to add an ice box where my lungs used to be... but I just can't sit at home on NYE. I'm getting older, I don't club, I don't stay out all night, I had to cut up at least on the first night. I don't regret it. It was a pretty good time. The venue: Well... it looks nice from the outside and it's pretty easy to find. The space itself was a decent size but I think they definitely oversold the tickets which made it almost impossible to get to the dance floor. The bar was pretty long, and tho the bartenders were dicks, the service was fast. I liked the huge wall sized TVs at every turn. The jumbo screen and comfy couches in the VIP. The VIP bar was fun, because the bartenders are clearly nicer to ppl spending more money. Which is corny but whatever... the ticket was more expensive, I expect better service. The scene/ ambiance: It was cool for what it was. I think I was expecting more of a millennial crowd just cuz BOND/ 007 seems like a much older crowd theme but Gen Z was in full effect, killing us with trap/mumble music requests. I still vibed. 10 pm we went from tik tok dances to Dougie'ing and stanky leggin, lol smh. The security was lax as hell, I could've walked in covered in dynamite, no one would've said sh-... didn't love that. The decor was nothing spectacular, balloons, white tea lights and string lights, black light. Basic. All in all, it was pretty basic but I was there to drink and have a good time. I assumed other ppl rent the ballroom to throw the party so I don't think I can judge them for the actual party. But as far as venue, it was cool. Parking was terrible, but again NYE. At the end of this day, was a New Year and I felt good about the party, feeling optimistic but cautious about 2022. I wish you all a great one! 3/5 for Auld lang syne stars!

Yelp
I'd give this place a 0 star if possible. The rooftop lounge especially is terrible. My friends and I visited this place to celebrate their birthday and we were at the counter looking at, what we thought was a digital ordering screen, waiting to be noticed by the bartender so we could order and he approached us aggressively a minute later and yelled at us for looking at the menu. Mind you, I don't drink and our night had just started so there was no chance he thought we were inebriated or causing nuisance and yet he physically assaulted our group and dragged us until the bouncers said "hey we'll escort them out". Overall, terrible place, terrible staff, would NOT recommend this place even if it's the last place on earth.

Yelp
The first time I went here was towards the end of July (around 6-7pm). The place doesn't look like much from the outside but once you walk upstairs there's a Huge rooftop patio. There are different 'sections' where you can sit on patio furniture with a low table which looked fun if you were going with a group! It also looked like first come first serve. There are also high rise tables and chairs too. I enjoyed the atmosphere and the drinks were pretty delicious! Being on a rooftop is cool because you overlook all of the other bars nearby! I will say the worst part about this place was the restrooms. They have a coed bathroom on the rooftop that is not private AT ALL. As soon as you walk in you see the men's urinal and there's only one stall! We asked if there were other bathrooms and the bouncer said that it's about 3 flights of stairs down into the basement! When we got down there the women's bathroom was big and it was clean which was nice despite the long walk down.

Yelp
The security guard Ron (tall guy with dreads) was horrible. My husband was treated so aggressively by this security guard for just trying to get to me in the front of the crowd and at this point it wasn't even full. Ron was a rude and i saw him be very aggressive with everyone, including shoving a girl that was in the group with us. Josh helped us figure it out the first time and he was very nice and spoke to that security guard (thanks josh!) but then the second time i was not able to speak with anyone. The security outside was brushing us off and claiming to be the manager of the entire place just to shut us up and was also very rude. service was horrible, this was our first time experiencing this. I DO NOT recommend the Clarendon ballroom and that security guard should go. i have read other reviews about an aggressive security guard and i have no doubt it's the same guy. Please don't come here, it's awful and ruined the night.

Yelp
Barely one star... was kicked out of this club for being too hot to handle... they literally stole my jacket and told me to leave because I was twerking on the bar #rudel

Yelp
A night out at the Clarendon Ballroom (aka the Clarendon Popup Bar) is always a grand old time. Despite the name it is not a place for ballroom dancing. Instead the music skews more towards the "urban" side but its still very enjoyable. The DJs who rotate through on the weekend are all very skilled and know precisely when to transition the music into some Papa Roach to really get the crowd amped up. The standout highlight of this bar by far, however, is the shiny-headed bald bartender. I believe the other bartenders refer to him as Twinkerbell? He always pours a delicious but stiff drink with just the right amount of alcohol to get you feeling good without feeling like you're just drinking straight liquor. He is a consummate gentleman and a real hoot to boot. It's always a pleasure being serviced by him. If this bar ever were to go on Bar Rescue, I'm sure that the curmudgeonly Jon Taffert would be enchanted by the young Twinkerbell. If I had to mention one complaint, I just wish that they would hold events for the under 21 crowd every once in a while so that my 16 year-old girlfriend could accompany me here. They also have a strict "No firearms" policy which even extends to Glocks, so don't forget to leave yours at home or in the car outside.

Yelp
I've lived in Arlington for 3 years now and NEVER had a worse experience than at Clarendon Ballroom. I'm not sure if it's because whitlow's closed or what, but the bouncers here are the rudest I've ever met at any of our bars. They also have an awful system for getting people from the rooftop to the bathrooms, as I had to walk down 4 flights of stairs just to be told that I could not come back up after and had to wait in ANOTHER 20 minute line to come back upstairs from the bottom floor. Awful system and all around terrible experience. Oh, and they tried to charge our male friends $20 for admission... just go to Living Room in DC before bothering to come here anymore.

Rebecca D.

Yelp
I'm a 130 lb female and the 6"2' bouncer straight up knocked me over for no reason. When I was like "wtf you pushed me over," he kicked me out.... I was dead sober. I was having a good time until this asshole bouncer in a Cowboys mask knocked me over out of nowhere and got pissed when I called him out on it. He was a large male and I felt threatened and scared, but none of that mattered because he was in a position of authority. This club is not female-friendly. I suggest going to Spider Kelly's. It feels safer there and the music is better anyways.

Yelp
I had a horrible experience with Ryan the bartender on the rooftop friday night. One the kegs for the modelo was kicked so instead of telling me it was kicked he asked me wanted i wanted three different times and i kept saying modelo because he didn't say "what else can i get you it isn't available," he said, "I've effing told you three times what do you want." Then, he made my friends drink and I asked for sour in it because it was gross so I moved it towards him as he was bringing the sour towards me and didn't make eye contact he was looking at another girl trying to take her order and when I moved it closer to him and he said, "can you effing stop moving your arm" poured it on my arm, in the cup and walked away without another word. A man with this much disrespect towards women represents this business and that disgusts me. No man should ever treat a woman that way. As someone who works in the food industry, NEVER have I ever seen someone who works for tips treat a guest so poorly. My boyfriend and I come frequently and always spend a fortune. Over 10 people in my group heard what he said to me on both occasions and are all women. I'm extremely disappointed in how I was treated. Rooftop, do better.

Tiffany H.

Yelp
Bouncer unprovoked called my friend the F slur. Vile service, terrible staff. We won't be coming back.

Juan B.

Yelp
I was thrown for not giving a tip on a 5 jagger shots, they made up a story first about me causing trouble in the bathroom,so I asked that they checked the cameras. They lied about and then the waitress that told me about the no tip came with two officers to throw me out because I didnt tip her.

Hope S.

Yelp
So I went here last night for the second time ever. First time, I couldn't even get a drink on a slow night because the bartenders were too busy taking shots. I gave it another go last night. I was having fun until we were going back downstairs. Someone told us there was a downstairs area so we thought we'd go. Well apparently there wasn't but we still had our drinks in hand because we weren't planning on leaving. This really rude woman bouncer started screaming in our faces about how we need to toss our drinks. She started shoving my friends for no reason. Why is your staff getting physical with tiny women who aren't even doing anything. Then I tossed my drink and she started to scream at me after the fact. I wasn't even drunk and she seemed irritated with her entire job. I told her to chill out and she told me to gtfo. Maybe hire someone with the patience for people partying since that's the whole point. Shocked that people are going to this place keeping it in business. I'll stick to Don Tito, thanks.
