The History & Etiquette of Afternoon Tea in England - AFAR

"When guests were in town I often booked Claridge’s to enjoy that same highly civilized parade of delicate sandwiches, glossy pastries, and scones with clotted cream and preserves served with generous pots of tea." - AFAR

Daniel Humm’s Vegan Menu at Eleven Madison Park Closes Claridges Restaurant | Eater London

"I note that Daniel Humm’s plan to make Davies and Brook at Claridge’s fully plant‑based has been rejected and the restaurant will close in December after a mutual decision to part ways: the hotel said it respects the culinary direction but that it is not the path Claridge’s wishes to follow and posted a statement to Twitter. The planned menu would have seen several of the restaurant’s most popular dishes removed, including the dry‑aged duck with lavender and honey borrowed from NYC and Claridge’s fried chicken. Humm has said that the future for him is plant‑based and expressed sadness at the split, and his first London restaurant — a long‑dreamed project — now looks to be in tatters, lacking the institutional clout Eleven Madison Park enjoys." - James Hansen

Google
Pros: convenient location & access to public transport, helpful staff, gym, good maintenance. Cons: greedy corporate management firm who would ask for a nearly 10% rent increase even when the market is going down. Building has some long term tenants so I guess some people cope with that.

Do NOT rent here unless you want to be awakened by constant jack hammering from 7:00 AM until 5:00 PM Monday through Saturday! YES SATURDAY! Manhattan Skyline has made no efforts to work with their tenants. My apartment literally shakes. I have asked for more sound proofing of windows, timelines, anything. They have not even acknowledged how miserable it is for the tenants and the animals living in the apartments. The construction will not be completed until 2020. The jackhammering stops when they show apartments and then picks right back up once a potential new tenant leaves. I have lived here for a year and a half. This building and management had its issues before but the on going construction makes this building inhabitable. The only saving grace are the doormen/concierge/super. They are all very professional and friendly.

It's a beautiful building and a fabulous location. The apartments are spacious and updated. The doorman and concierge are professional.

Worst agents ever, they sent out application ask for deposit and first month rent (paid) to then tell you that all is a mistake and the unit was never available.

Yelp
I am not sure why there are bad reviews, but now in 2020 - I find that the building management, the Concierge, the Doorman - they are all exceptional. The building is beautiful, has everything you need and a fantastic location. The building, the interior, the staff are all exceptional - very professional, everything is at your fingertips and the location is safe, near everything you could possibly need or want, with the beauty of Central Park a few short blocks away. I love the building.

Yelp
We moved in from Puerto Rico and it has been a good experience. The building is a WWII era and conveniently located in the middle of everything. You could not ask for a better location, walking distance to the NYC Marathon finish line, Macy's Thanks Giving parade front row sit (if you have an apartment facing 6th ave.), quiet when you want it and if looking for action just walk down. Movie theater across the street, Radio City two blocks, Carnegie Hall one block, supermarkets you can walk to (Across the street is very expensive)

Yelp
Two years ago we visited for an open house. After a very long wait for the broker, who would supposedly be back any minute, we gave up and left. Fast forward to today...visiting for another open house, told that the broker was showing the apartment and would be right back. Twenty minutes later, we were told the broker is eating lunch and is not responding to phone calls. If you are going to spend time eating lunch during the advertised open house time, why hold the open house during your lunch hour? So rude and disrespectful of others' time.

Yelp
We have lived here for a little over 2 months. The internal apartment broker Debbie did not tell us that our apartment (D-line apartments) are the only apartments in the building with no ceiling lights (does that even happen in NYC anymore?) and that we are not allowed to put up a temporary wall (although every other apartment in this building is allowed too). Our super is also an incredibly difficult man. He's hung up on me a number of times on the telephone when we asked him to fix toilets that stopped working the first week, fix a leak in the air conditioning unit that occurred the first week and picked up the plywood floor (which I stepped on and cut my foot), to fix two other air conditioning units that were not working in our living room (after telling me they were fine, they came in and checked them and admitted they were in fact broken and we had tried to compensate for poor air quality and warm air by blasting it on high this summer), and fixing the kitchen cabinet TWICE.Also, BEWARE: it is an energy inefficient building and running air conditioners and the lights you have to buy to actually have light in your apartment will cost you $200+ a month (electricity is not covered). Furthermore, if you plan to buy any furniture, you are not allowed to bring it in on the weekend at all and must go through the backdoor from 8-6 (NO parking allowed for regular vehicles!) If you can handle all these issues, no lighting, a difficult super, and a really busy characterless neighborhood, kudos to you. Its a hard sell and I am disappointed we moved in.

Yelp
The building is old and smells funny all the time! Our apartment was INFESTED with mice! Everytime I told the super and building management I was told that the mouse was probably caught in our apartment yet without fail we saw and/or caught at least 2 mice every month! Literally every damn month for a year! There was no nest in the apartment so I highly doubt they were all "trapped" there... i'll blame poor superintendent and management skills, not to mention pure laziness and what i'm assuming is a dirty building on that one. Management sucks and you'll get dinged handsomely on every little thing when you move out. They don't care about your mice infestation but they care that you put a nail sized hole on their walls - never mind that you'll never actually touch drywall as you'll never get through the massive layers of paint. No amenities! Absolutely none (they have a "gym" yet by that definition my home gym is Equinox)! The washers/dryers broke down what seemed like every other week so that was a nice cherry on top. Do yourself a favor if you have kids, for the sake of your kids, find a better building that has no mice and amenities - trust me, you'll thank me! The doormen and porters (other than the Super) are terrific tho! Location great too but I've seen better buildings in the area. The prices for rentals here are not justified compared to other buildings in the area and YOU WILL have a rent increase of about 4-5% every year - guaranteed! Oh also, in reference to review by Simmyou... I've seen plenty of apartments here and NONE have ceiling lights!
