Yelp
Clark's BBQ has been operating for 30 years or so now, and the quality remains topnotch - in the Pork BBQ, the weekend BBQ Chicken, salads, their Burgers and Hot Dogs, and the daily country cooking specials posted on the chalk boards. They used to serve a mean Southern breakfast, but sadly no more.
They produce excellent Lexington style pork barbecue, from shoulders cooked over hard wood coals. The way to order it, IMHO, is the coarse chopped version, either sandwich or plate.
I always order the sliced or the coarsed chopped BBQ because, and that gives you the most smokiness, and with the coarsed you usual get some outside brown and a taste of the rub applied at the beginning of the cooking process. This is very good pig, and to equal or exceed the taste you have to go to Lexington or Shelby, though Stamy's whole shoulder comes very close.
And they have more to offer: real BBQ Chicken on Fri and Sat, cooked as the pork is, no sweet red sauce in sight; excellent Hot Dogs, up there with the very best in the area (it starts with the great chili); and the Chili Cheeseburger is right there for the same reason; the Grilled Chicken Salad is also very nice; as are the country cooking daily specials, especially the Country Style Steak, though the amount of steak is small; the circular Hush Puppies do not disappoint, has a slight taste of onion; and the Fried Okra is also among the best.
The service can be a bit spotty at peak times, and this has shown up more since COVID. The prices are very reasonable, just another reason to EAT MORE PIG111
