Claudine

"From chef Julien Royer of Odette fame comes a classic French brasserie, which he named after his mother. It’s housed in a lovely 1930s converted chapel, with an open kitchen at one end and a bar at the other. Those with a fondness for comforting French classics will find the rollcall of favourites very appealing, from onion soup to vol-au-vents and baba au rhum. If you’re willing to share, then go for the bouillabaisse or the pepper steak flambéed at your table." - Michelin Inspector

At long last, had a chance to dine at this grandeur place. Service was welcoming and attentive. Food were good though a couple items not to our likings. Both types of oysters offered were good. Bar snack - sardine on toast is really a small bite. Egg forestiere - like scotch egg but is not. Herrings & potato salad - a tad too much vinegar/mustard. Lentil hummus - Turbot fish - very delicious. Claudine Bouillabaisse - the bisque is very good, all seafood nicely cooked except the prawns got ammonia taste that disagreed with us. Cheese board - had a good selection of soft cheese. Floating island dessert is a delightful ending.

We had such a great experience @ Claudine <3 First time having a meal like this (Yes the price is mind bending) and it’s memorable. Small but noticeable differences from The White Rabbit decor - complimentary Bread and the butter wasn’t to our liking but can imagine fans out there. Mrs Would have preferred a softer bread. Believe was sourdough + iberico butter. - Great starter with the Langoustine. Flavour and texture off to a great start ! - Beef Tartar was great. Table service + customised to your preferences. First time having table service right next us ! Comes with fries and salad - Also the pork chop which was great. Not just saying because of the price but this was very well done. Fatty chop with a fantastic sauce and the sweetest potatoes - Had the sparkling Rose which went well with all items on the table Sadly we didn’t have space for dessert but would’ve loved to have a crack at the Pariterole but will save that for next time. Great experience. Had constant attention from the staff which created a warm and welcoming environment. Not sure if I could afford this every month but definitely worth a treat annually

The expectations are high given the intentional association with Odette. Many diners were dressed to the nines and service was well matched which is a big plus. Sourdough and iberico butter was excellent. Onion soup- served with a whole onion with some sweetness but the soup base tasted only of salt with no depth or complexity, a big letdown. Charred leeks - tasty but over cooked and limp. Bouillabaisse - at $178++, portion probably only feeds two. The sauce is not bad not not as rich as I expected it to be. The fish was under seasoned and borderline over cooked. The produce were fresh indeed but nothing on the plate screams that price. Chocolate tart was great, baked Alaska was very average. Overall average for the hype and the price points. I wouldn’t bother trying to snare a tough to get table.

A good lunch in the nice cozy dining area of Claudine. Not exactly a three Michelin Stars like Odette but it’s definitely hold up well on its own, with hearty portions. Food is good, service is attentive, ambience is impeccable. I wish I have the stomach to try more among the three of us. Definitely be back if I can get hold of the reservations. #andrewtanatomisingapore

Beautiful decor and great service. Their seafood bouillabaisse is fantastic and one of the best I've had. The starters we got were average - uni pasta was a tad confusing and I preferred my onion soup with more punch. Claudine's deconstructed onion soup was less impactful with subtle flavours of onion broth.

After the hype and affiliation to Odette and Lo & Behold, was prepped for a fabulous experience. Decor is beautiful. Welcoming warm and a great feel. It's really like a younger cousin to Odette. Welcome, service, light touches are pretty bang on. Staff have the Charm you'd expect. Dropped a star, as the food a bit hit and miss. I think if you go a few times and know what to order, it can be "perfect". I thought the appetizers showed the best. I thought the mains lacked some "maturity", less evolved and not quite as put together as I had expected. Dessert, the hot seller profitero, didn't seem to impress, i would have sooner driven down the road to PS Cafe. Favorite, Heirloom Beetroot Salad, followed by the scallop. Pork main didn't impress. Most seemed to order the Steaks. So perhaps if I go again I might try that. Parking is generally ample and free.

Claudine is an elevated French cuisine. It was an elegant and meticulous dining experience. Everything was so well thought through. From the inception of the reservation until the settlement of the bill, everything was designed to be orchestrated to perfection. Staff was extremely approachable and the setting was congenial. The exceptional hospitality paired with amazing list of cuisines means it is a recipe for repeat visits.

A beautiful restaurant with delicious food. Had brunch here, service was very attentive and friendly. The roast chicken was perfectly cooked which is accompanied by a sticky, delectable jus. The hanger steak on special was well cooked and well seasoned. The classic French desserts were also well executed and not overly sweet.

Yelp
Make a reservation. It's worth the wait and price given the environment, location, service and the flavors of the dishes. Just make sure you plan ahead in terms of transportation if you don't have a car. Can be a bit hard to get a ride late at night. To be 100% honest I didn't have super high expectations because having moved to Singapore form NYC, the fine dining scene in Singapore hasn't been able to compare. The ambiance and plating have always been beautiful but usually I find the flavors to be lacking and overall not worth the price. In the case of Claudine, I really enjoyed all the dishes. Even if they weren't mind blowing, they are 90% there across the board which I can't say for any other fine dining place I've been to thus far. -Mozambique langoustine: dumplings are delicious and langoustine is perfectly cooked. The soup itself though is less on the bisque side and more... buttery? It was a bit too rich to finish - Cromesquis pork trotter: delicious but be sure to eat it hot, looooove the sauce that comes with it. Has a good kick. Comes with 5-6 pieces -Vol au vent: I think everyone who comes here should get it. It is absolutely delicious and spot on with the layers of salvors. The right amount of richness and saltiness. The pastry itself was the best part, definitely eat it before it get soggy. I don't typically like sweetbread but this wasn't overly gamy / offal like. - Chou farci: recommended for 3-4 people. The pieces themselves aren't big but it is SUPER rich because of the foie gras. So be prepared - Rhum cake dessert: I was really surprised at how balanced this dessert was. The cake itself is the right level of fluffy, the whipped cream is not overly sweet, and the orange (maybe pomelo? grapefruit) adds an acidic element and great texture. It's pre-soaked in rum but not overly so. They bring out a bottle for you to add more as needed

Yelp
It's strange to describe a church building "charming" but I thought the restaurant was very charming. We went here for brunch on the weekend. It was a mistake for us because we couldn't order what we wanted and the fish we ordered was too much for two. We got tired of eating the same rich flavored dish and didn't even finish it. If we shared it with 4-6 people, it would've been perfect. Unfortunately with the fish and one appetizer were way too much food for two of us. We couldn't physically eat more. I really wanted to try a course menu if they had it on the weekend. Our bill was $200 without alcohol. It wasn't a good feeling to think the food was too greasy to taste after awhile. And the waitress could've suggested a better option for us knowing it was only two people. I saw another guests eating the same dish but they left half of the fish also. I recommend going here for dinner or weekday lunch instead. But I did like the vibe so I will give 4/5 overall. For the food alone, they weren't mind blowing so I will give 3.75/5.
