I was born in Texas, raised in Louisiana, and worked at several Cajun restaurants. Been in the restaurant industry in general for 10 years. These are my credentials since anyone can just leave reviews nowadays.
TLDR: Clawdaddy has great food, reasonable prices, and tasty daiquiris with exceptionally diligent service.
I brought my girl here because she's never experienced Viet-Cajun style seafood, nor has had fried fish before. Not to mention she's the pickiest eater in the entire world and simply can't be bothered to eat at times-- I had to make sure where we were going was good. Clawdaddy was perfect.
The fried fish is Swai, a problem for some maybe, but to me still a tender, flakey fish that's easy to eat, especially because my girl doesn't like anything "fishy." The batter was crisp and crunchy at the edges, not cornmeal which in my opinion is too grainy. She came back for more which is a huge win in my book. The fries they serve with it are the battered kind, not too thick nor thin with the fluffiest potato inside and also crunchy and crispy. Definitely recommend the fried seafood options.
Now the real star-- the crawfish and snow crabs. We went with the Zaddy sauce, which is a combination of the House Special (garlic, butter, Cajun seasoning) and Chef Z's (tangy citrus, garlic butter, Cajun seasoning blend). Mild because my girl will cry if she sees a grain of pepper. There's a lotttt of garlic so if you don't like garlic or you're on a first date or maybe you're just a vampire that's into Cajun food, maybe not opt for this one. It was tasty, but maybe it's the way America has built me but the foundational flavor wasn't as pronounced as I would've liked it. Not a super big deal, but I think I'll go for the house special and dry seasoning instead for more saltiness next time. Blood pressure going up on a Tuesday kind of vibe.
The crawfish itself is for sure live. Incredibly juicy and succulent, and for those who aren't able to tell-- simply crack the claw open, and taste the meat. It should be tender, moist, and not at all dry. I felt like the butter must've seeped into the claws somehow considered how juicy they were. Crawfish right now is on the medium size and priced at $9.99/lbs as of February 2025.
Now the snow crabs. God, the snow crabs were amazing. Everything the crawfish was, the snow crabs were as well and so much more. Tender, succulent, and the meat was sweet and just perfect. My girl tried it for the first time and agreed that it was wonderful. I'm so damn happy she got to experience snow crabs the way they're meant to be enjoyed.
Besides the food, we also got daiquiris, and my girl particularly enjoyed the strawberry. Sweet, ice cold, what more could you ask for to combat the high blood pressure and cholesterol.
Alan (Allen?) was our server and he's great. Informative, attentive, quick to remove trash from our table as well as get our refills without checking up on us too much. Definitely knows how to feel out the vibes of his guests. The owner's sister was also equally attentive, and having not initially known her title beforehand, I leaned in and whispered to my girl that she was probably the manager given the work she was putting in. Some managers sit behind the register and call it a day, but Ma'am was helping clear tables, engaging with the customers and asking how everything was, ensuring we get refills whenever the other servers were busy. Incredible team effort, and I definitely see it and respect it. That's how you know they care about their establishment, and that's when there's true value in supporting a small business.
Thank you Clawdaddy, we'll be back!
