Clay Pot Ethiopian Cuisine

By far one of the best restaurants in Albuquerque. I was so excited to hear we had a new Ethiopian place and Clay Pot exceeded my expectations. Very homey feeling. I love that there's no menu and you get what you get(they do ask about vegetarian options). The small hot beverages were really fun too. Overall a really great experience and I can't wait to go again. Hopefully they'll have red lentils.

Delicious. Had the red chile lamb, yellow lentils and green beans. Everything packed such a fantastic punch of flavor. The owner was very attentive and clearly loves what she has to offer. The live music was a nice touch. The after dinner coffee she serves is also very good. Can't wait to return.

Very very cozy, real woodburning fire inside the restaurant so that plus the smell of the food is wonderful. The chef is very welcoming, and the food was fantastic. Nice and spicy, and the lamb was ridiculously tender. Will be coming back LOTS. We grabbed takeout so they loaded us each up with a bit of everything.

Clay Pot Ethiopian Cuisine is the most flavorful, spicy and overall best food I have had in New Mexico. You know it is authentic when you go to this restaurant! Buffet Style meat and vegetable dishes are on point! Seble is an amazing chef!

Habari ndugu na dada! I'm sorry for the Swahili, but I cannot speak Amharic. But maybe now you know that I know East Africa. This is the BEST authentic Ethiopian food in ABQ. Cooked and served by a truly African sister. Erzulie. Damballa. Simbi. Papa Legba. The loa of the west tell me this is what I should eat. IYKYK.

Clay Pot just fed us the most delicious meal!!! We ate from a vegan buffet of flavorful dishes until we were stuffed (vegan night every Friday). Some of the dishes were very spicy (yum!) and all of the textures, smells, and flavors were a treat for all 5 senses. The chef and server were kind and attentive, and we especially loved the clove tea and rich coffee! My partner and I came to celebrate our anniversary, and Clay Pot was perfect. Really blew our expectations out of the water. We will be back!!!

Albuquerque is lucky to have such great local Ethiopian food. It’s very fresh and flavorful. The meat and vegetarian dishes are homemade with great spices. Coffee and injera are tasty too. Service is friendly and caring. They are in a little strip mall off Paradise Blvd. It’s lovely inside. There is no signage yet, so I recommend you program their address into your phone. They are right next to the massage place in the little strip mall.

First time trying Ethiopian food and no regrets! Everything was so delicious, and the whole vibe of the restaurant was just a hearth and home community like experience. We cannot wait to go back on different days to try the different menus!
