Clayboys Shave Ice

My youngest daughter (10) was recently asking for some shave ice as she missed having it since moving from California. A quick Yelp search turned up Clayboys and we have since been a few times. They have a decent variety of flavors (my daughters favorites so far are Skylite and Mango). The guys manning the cart are friendly and they add a Swedish fish surprise on the bottom of the cup. We will definitely be back.

This is the best shaved ice outside of Hawaii, hands down. I had the guava, and found a nice treat at the bottom of my cup. And, the guava taste exactly like pink tropical starburst.

Hired Clayboys for my daughter's birthday at the park. They arrived early, great communication and customer service. In the moment towards the end I asked if it would be ok to book additional time and they were able to accommodate our request. It was a hit with our guests and the flavors are amazing!!

Great snow-textured ice, great flavors (usually get blue razz and tiger’s blood), and great service. I also like how at the bottom of the cup there is a piece of a Swedish Fish gummy, and nothing can be better without this company.

My car was broke down in the middle of the street, next thing I know the Clayboys drive by and stop, saving the day. Billy took time out of his day on the nicest day of the summer to help my mom and I get my car started. Truly great business run by even better people.

Had the most amazing guava ice today. Dan and Bill are truly running an amazing business with great employees. Pete definetly earned his employee of the month award with the stellar syrup to ice ratio, as well as a superb texture to the ice. Can’t forget the genuine customer service that really hit close to home. 10/10!

Clayboys is the best shaved ice ever! Hands down the best shaved ice in the DMV. Clayboys is owned and operated by a local family who makes the perfect shaved ice! Danny is a rising star, keep an eye on these guys because they will go far!

It's good. Service used to be fabulous, now it's okay, almost meh. As my kids have grown, and I've gone pretty much sugar free, I find this and extremely sweet now. I wish there was a less sweet more tart option. The texture of the ice is amazing. The flavors awesome, I would prefer significantly less sugar. Lemon Lime is my favorite because it's a little tart Tigers Blood was a always a family favorite but now, it's wayyy too sweet because I think our taste buds have changed as I've incorporated more bitters into our diets. Baha is a new flavor to us and it was yummy!! Too sweet for me tho :)

Oh sweet nostalgia! I've been coming to Clayboy's since the summer of 2001, when I was ten! I know it was a bit dicey there for a while with the zoning requirements etc., and it had been a while since I had been around Bethesda Row to check and see if they are still there. It was such a sweet surprise! I spoke with the young man running the stand, and he informed me that he's the youngest son of the owner! I went with a small cherry and lemonade shave ice, and I was pleased to see that they still include a small Swedish fish inside the cup all of these years later! The shave ice is inexpensive and such a sweet, cool, treat on a hot summer day. Please please please check them out so they can continue to be around for many years to come!

We came to this stand on a recommendation from "uncle Aaron" in Kauai. Uncle Aaron is a vendor we met while on vacation and a staple on the island having sold shaved ice to the locals for decades. He sells some of his own homemade flavors to Clayboys. I must say, Clayboys was was great! The flavors were as vibrant and ice was as smooth as I remember from Kauai.

We know it's the start of summer when we see the Clayboys cart in Bethesda-we love this place, perfect treat for a warm day!
