"A big, bustling hotel, the Clayton is a good bet for anyone looking for a place to stay with serious buzz, rather than the muted elegance that characterises many of Cambridge’s other hotels, boutique hotels and B&Bs. The good-sized rooms come with a dollop of style; hand-made desks and wood-panelled headboards, and luxury marble bathrooms. The glammy, circular cocktail bar is a great place to start the night – if it feels too lively, the book-lined lounge has more of a genteel feel. Dinner in the restaurant is ideal for families or friends, rather than an intimate meal a deux. Located right next to Cambridge train station, the hotel is ideal for a car-free break. The Botanic Gardens are a couple of minutes’ walk, while most of the main sites and colleges are within ten minutes on foot. A fantastic hotel. Very convenient location by the train station and walking distance to the city centre. The rooms are very large and the bed is massive and like sleeping on a cloud! The whole place is beautifully decorated and clean. The breakfast was delicious and the staff very friendly and helpful. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

My partner and I visited Clayton Hotel Cambridge over bank holiday weekend. The hotel was in a great location for arriving on the train and only a short walk into the city areas. We had an executive king room which was spacious with a balcony and immaculate. We ate breakfast the following morning which had a selection of continental and cooked foods and plenty vegan options for us. All staff we encountered were very helpful and pleasant. All in all a perfect stay, would reccommend and return.

I had a wonderful stay at this hotel! The breakfast was absolutely amazing, fresh, delicious, and with a great variety of options to start the day. The staff were incredibly attentive and friendly, always ready to help with anything I needed. Their hospitality really made the experience even better. Highly recommend this place for anyone looking for comfort!

Suhas who checked us in was an absolute delight, it was my 70th birthday and every effort was made to make my day memorable. We were given a fabulous room, a handwritten birthday card and a gift. Nothing was too much trouble. It wasn’t our first time at this hotel and it won’t be our last. All of the staff were so kind and helpful and my husband I had a lovely stay.

Clayton Cambridge hotel is a diamond of a hotel. The hotel is situated seconds away from Cambridge train station.||Staff on check-in were professional, polite and efficient: everything you want in hotel staff. ||Room was stunning: the bathroom spacious, the room clean and bright and the bed was SUPER comfy. The balcony offered great views for drinks and a morning coffee. ||Breakfast was delicious with enough selection to please everyone. I particularly like how there were vegetarian sausages on offer (big thank you to the dark haired, female F&B manager who checked their allergens for me). ||Overall, quality hotel and I don't think you'll find better for the price point in Cambridge. What a gem!

We had a really wonderful stay when visiting this weekend with my parents for their 40th wedding anniversary. We were very impressed by the cleanliness of the rooms but also the newly referred bathrooms the luxury feel to the hotel and rooms and we even got to the gym facility, which was really great. Also, we were so impressed by how versatile and great quality the breakfast was and had a really lovely experience in the bar the night before and breakfast with my parents. We loved all the historical touches the hotel had throughout and felt like it was the perfect choice for our cambridge stay. The hotel staff even left a gift for my parents in their room for their anniversary without me even asking them to, which was really kind and great service!

Absolutely fabulous hotel. Very clean, staff friendly and helpful. The bedroom was huge, and the bed and pillows most comfy we've ever slept in. Right opposite the train station and only 20 minute walk to the town. Lovely touch of brightly coloured plants at the entrance. Will definitely be staying again.

Honestly, the best hotel I’ve ever stayed in! From the warm welcome at reception to the impeccable attention to detail throughout our stay, everything was perfect. It was my partner’s birthday, and the staff went above and beyond to make it truly special—even surprising us with an incredible room upgrade. I would genuinely book a stay here just for another night in that unbelievably comfortable bed! I’m even tempted to email and ask what mattress topper and duvet they use, because it was one of the best sleeps I’ve ever had—hotel or otherwise. I honestly cannot fault a single thing about this hotel. Worth every penny!
