Great place. The atmosphere is amazing, service is good and the food is good.. not like a high end steak place but pretty good. 2 salads and garlic bread i believe are served to every table and it is amazing. I could just eat that with a drink and be happy!

Great portion sizes. Love the interior design. Friendly staff. However, the food was a hit or miss. Free peanuts are good, not salted tho but that's based on your personal preference. Ordered wings for apps and those were good. I ordered a ribeye which was tender and full of flavor. My bf ordered a new york strip and it was so tough and had no flavor at all. It was just bland. We both got it medium. The salads, pilaf and baked potato that comes with the steak were good tho.

Great for birthday and celebrations. Good bar, cold beer, ok steaks. It's a great old school vibe. Fabulous service.

My first time here. My guy and I really enjoyed the food. Everything was met my expectations. Tony was our server, he was nice and had a really great service. I got New york and chili mango margaritas.My guy got full rack of rib which didn't have on the menu but again Tony recommends us....it was so bomb. I would give it 10/10 💓 We would definitely be backkkk

It is such a cute place here, it is very much a theme and a vibe that goes a long way. The food is actually pretty good and the portions are generous! Paula Deen would approve of the butter usage lol the baked potato on each of our plates is colossal sized! Steaks were tender and cooked to requested temperature! Also love that they give you peanut snacks and you just casually throw the shells on the floor!

I had not been here for at least 30+ years. The place looks basically the same. I think the only addition are the large screen TVs in the bar area. A fun place to visit at least once every 10 years. Family friendly, plenty of parking, the food was good, the price a bit on the high side, and the service was not too bad, considering how busy they were. bartenders however we’re very slow. Great place to bring visiting relatives and friends from out of the area, as this is a very unique restaurant that has a lot of interesting history behind it, making it a must see and experience event. This restaurant (along with other branches) has one of the best vibes and environment to dine: serene, dim, and romantic! The food is delicious because they are cooled to your preferences. Dinner dishes have unlimited cheese bread, cabbage and lettuce salads. The waiter gentleman is very attentive, as he checked on us multiple times for potential add ons and refills. The prices are on the medium-high range, but I think they are somewhat reasonable for the aforementioned reasons. Please keep it up!

Always love The North Woods Inn! The minute you walk in, you are transformed into an old school hunting lodge complete with life sized stuffed grizzly bears and sawdust covered floors. Of course, the menu is based around steaks but there are many items that can replace the red meat. Chicken, seafood, salads and great appetizers. One of the greatest parts about this restaurant is they WANT you to throw the shells from the free peanuts on the floor! Love that! The food is ABUNDANT! All you can eat half n half salad, all you can eat cheesebread with Clearman's own spread, and then the size of the meals leave you extremely stuffed and with leftovers the next day! The servers are always very helpful and willing to make your meal EXACTLY how you envisioned it from the menu! I can't remember ever thinking to myself or my company, "What happened to our waiter?"! Always a great experience. Go find out for yourself!! Tell them John sent you. But be ready to answer, "Who is John?"

This restaurant is well themed. Starting from the parking lot, there is an outdoor wising area with evergreen trees and "snow" on all surfaces. It's unnervingly dimly lit in the restaurant. While our waitress was attentive in taking our order, we didn't see her for a long time once we had our food. We were waiting awhile for the check as well. The food itself was honestly pretty bad. The best part of the meal was the cheesy bread. I ordered the 7oz lumberjack steak at a medium rare. It was medium well at best and mostly chewy gristly meat. It was so tough! I was careful to chew thoroughly because I was genuinely worried that I was going to choke. The most positive thing I can say is that there was plenty of food.

I come here quite often with my family. The service is normally attentive and friendly. The decor is cabin-themed and to me has an 80's or 90's vibe. I enjoy the relaxing dim lighting that the tiffany lamps provide. The wait staff wear a uniform reminiscent of the 90's. The restaurant is huge and wait times if any are very short. Parking is never an issue as they have 2 lots - one at each of their entrances. The meals come with cheese bread and 2 salads: a garden salad with blue cheese dressing and one purple cabbage with balsamic vinaigrette (which they recommend mixing). They serve you complimentary peanuts as you wait for your meal - which I like to add to my salads. Feel free to toss those peanut shells on the floor! We normally order salmon with baked potato and either the kids filet mignon or the kids chicken for my son. Their food is good and a great value. The kids menu in particular is a great deal - especially the kids steak. I'd recommend this place for family dinners and special occasions.

Came to Clearman's for dinner with family, server did well with our larger group. Drinks were often refilled and orders came correctly. Fish was cooked nicely and steaks were as well. Had one of the family order the shrimp plate and we thought it was a mistake that they had given a kids meal. Came 3 small-medium grilled shrimp with rice and cabbage. Selling this for around $20 is ridiculous. If these were jumbo shrimp and had like 4-5 it's understandable but we all thought he got a kids meal.

Clearnan's North Woods Inn looks like a cabin in the woods but it is in a local city. Inside you can see that the place is dimly lit and also has some red leather couches. The style reminds me of something like back in the day but it is still quite family oriented. There is a simple menu and also a bar. I came here for lunchtime and had a sirloin steak with shrimp. The shrimp was tasty and also the sirloin even though was petit in size, still had a lot of food left over. The salad that they give you is red cabbage and also a regular lettuce. The cheese bread is delicious also if you have never had it, do have it with your meal!

Visitation Rights: Twice. My recent visit was last month. Parking: Decent amount of parking. If you don't see any parking up front, there's plenty of parking in the back. Entertainment: Get some peanuts from the hostess while you wait and crack them open. With the shells don't be afraid to litter and stomp on them with glee. Ambiance/Decor: Neat ambiance with woodsy furnishings and some stained glass decor. Service: Don't remember much about how the service was back when I visited in 2019 for my birthday, but as for my recent visit... I remember. Amanda was very friendly, attentive, and offered great suggestions. She checked up on us occasionally. Food came out a respectable time. I'm also guilty of getting 4-5 refills of root beer. :) Dinner Entree Of Choice: 1) North Woods Special Platter (Chicken, Scallops, and Steak Chunks): Instead of the chicken and scallops being fried, I asked for them to be broiled. Thought the proteins were good. The entree also came with rice pilaf and baked potato. Salad and Cheese Garlic Bread: Salads (house and cabbage) were good, but I preferred the house salad (blue cheese) over the cabbage (kinda sour). Garlic bread was a bit on the salty side and a bit greasy, but don't get me wrong... they're good. Go crazy on the unlimited offerings y'all! Clearman's North Woods Inn For Thought: Wouldn't mind coming back again.

Been here a few times, and it is always a good time. Apparently Clearman's has been at this location forever, and it has become a spot for celebratory dinners. From the moment you walk in, it's like you've entered into another realm. Even from the outside, the faux snow gives you a sense that this place is trying to be a space displaced from it's actual location in SoCal (last time I went, it was 90 degrees at 6pm, when our reservations were). As soon as you walk in, you're encountered with a giant display of a stuffed bear in a glass box, and interior designs from a lumberjack lodge. The floor is strewn with sawdust and peanut shells (they give you peanuts as an appetizer, and when you shell them, you just drop the shells on the floor). When we were there this last time, there were several tables celebrating birthdays or graduations. The steak plate is good. The piece of steak you get is modest, and it comes with rice pilaf, and you have the option of getting the unlimited salad and toast (which is a good idea if you have a huge group of people). The red cabbage slaw is nice and tangy, and is a really nice balance to the Texas toast. You can totally fill up just on salad and toast (and take your actual meal home for a second dinner). There is a lot in the front and a lot in the back - they have different entrances from the street - the front parking lot gets filled, the back one is shared with Floor & Decor next door, so it's HUGE. Plenty of space. There are also bathrooms (one that has multiple stalls, and then a couple of gender neutral single-stall ones) randomly tucked away throughout the restaurant. It's like a treasure hunt, but make it crappy. :D Service is consistently good here, although last time we were here, I needed to find someone to refill our water. Looking forward to coming back here!

Try it out for yourself. I had an a good experience. Loved the vibes, it's retro. The food was average but the customer service and vibes will bring you back. The decor is 80's which I loved, it's hard to find those restaurants. There's plenty of parking, while you wait you can snack on peanuts.

On a Friday night in late January, my hubby and I came for Dine LA dinner. Prior, I made reservations online to get a table. At 5pm, enough parking available and we waited few minutes to get our table. We ordered potato skins and ate peanuts. I love the decor and ambiance of the restaurant. For DineLA menu, I ordered clam chowder soup w/cheese bread, new York steak, rice, bake potatoes and key lime dessert. The steak was tender and the potato was big and the cheese toast was delicious. Our waiter was nice and checked on through out our dinner and refill water cups. Toward the middle of dinner, the place got busy with big parties. Love the music playing in the background.

So there's multiple parking around this area so you're welcome to park in the back next to floor and decor or on the other side of the main entrance. as agreed by the host, you noticed the word cabin feel, and the floor full of nuts debris. If you're allergic tonight, be careful. We got seated we're in the back plenty of seats and we are greeted by the cheery waitress. We ordered the tomahawk steak and the mix salad and the seafood platter. Salad can be ordered with an extra plate so we had have plenty of salads for all three of us. I have to say to Tomahawk was a little bit disappointing, but it was made medium rare as we requested. The portion was 32 ounce but I thought it was a little bit smaller due to the large tomahawk bone. The seafood platter was underwhelming because everything was pretty much fried scallops and cod's deep fried. Overall, it was a good experience, but for the portion size, I think it was a little small and not that flavorful. I think I would order just sandwiches the next time I come back

Fun decor with cozy wood cabin vibes. The ribs and ribeye were tasty, and the cheese bread was really good. Loved the free peanuts! Tried cheese butter in my potato for the first time, and it was a good choice. I did not like the pilaf rice. Service was great the waiter even helped bag up our salads. Plenty of seating inside.

First time at this location (San Gabriel) but have been to this franchise before. Was in the mood for some meat and potatoes, that tomahawk feed both of us and we had leftovers! Food was delicious and service was just okay, our waitress disappeared!!??!!

Cozy family restaurant with massive portions and delicious cocktails. You get a little bit of everything in this place- winter cabin vibes, sports bar, etc. and can't forget the uniqueness of tossing the peanut shells on the floor. The restaurant can get busy, so it never hurts to have a reservation. My family of 6 visited on a weeknight and it was pretty packed. We had a reservation and were seated after waiting 5 to 10 minutes. The service is good. The staff are friendly, maybe a little overworked, but overall good. The food is not fine dining, blow you out of the water kind of food. But it is comforting and tasty! There are also plenty of options to choose from- steaks, seafood, sandwiches, etc. Moscow Mule- 10/10 (best I've ever had) Lobster- 8/10 massive! but slightly over cooked Steak- 9/10 Crab legs- 5/10 (we were very disappointed and kindly sent them back for another lobster tail instead) Burger- 10/10 Chicken tenders- 8/10 Carrot cake- 10/10 Garlic cheese bread and loaded baked potatoes are dynamite 10/10 the dishes also come with a plethora of cabbage salads, rice, etc.

One of our go-to restaurants. Tonight we decided to just get the two salads and the cheese toast. Everything was delicious! Our waitress was Jessica and she was delightful!

The interior had a cool atmosphere. I tried the ribs and the ribeye, the ribeye was actually cooked to a perfect medium-rare, which is uncommon these days. Both dishes came with a salad, cabbage, and toast, all of which I enjoyed. I also had a baked potato, and the cheese butter added great flavor. The ribs were tender and full of flavor. The staff was friendly and welcoming. Plus, they offer free peanuts, and you can toss the shells on the floor.

Old school since 1958. We sat at the bar and ordered beer on tap plus dinner. The bar area has plenty of chatty patrons who are not shy to start a conversation. I ordered a steak medium rare, cheese garlic bread, mixed cabbage salad, rice pilaf, and a potato. The beer was good and the food was delicious especially their famous salad. The meal was more than enough and I had to request a to go box for what I wasn't able to finish.

Okay, been driving by this place often so we wanted to check it out for their prixe fixe menu for Dine LA 2025. The servers were very nice and sweet and they really lean into the cabin theme. However, the food was mid. Yes it's a good deal with large portion sizes but the meat just tasted old and didn't seem like it was cooked very well. Probably won't come back after this visit.

The salad and cheese bread are the highlights here. Both items are so unique that my family requests this place every time they visit from Kentucky. I would eat here weekly if they partnered with DoorDash for delivery. Sadly, the only option currently available is in-person service--which can be a major drawback in 2025.

Our waitress was wonderful, but the food did not match the great service. In brief, I ordered mahi-mahi fish. It was bad. Smelt extremely fishy and tasted foul. They probably left it out too long or did not store it properly. All the sides were very bland. Nothing special. The vegetables and potato skins just tasted old, like they were left out in the back kitchen. I exchanged the fish for a sirloin steak. It was extremely fatty. The taste was low quality, and, like the sides, tasted old. I'll never go back to this place. .

Haven't been there for years, went this weekend, we stopped in being we were near by. Ordered the pastrami sandwich and beef dip sandwiches, came with a side salad, what a joke! 1/4 cup of iceberg lettuce with nothing else with it but the dressing of choice, at least the ranch dressing was good. Also our choice was rice pilaf, nothing to write home about. Peanuts, were brought prior. The sandwiches were sad, skimpy meat, sad bread . The service, well the gentleman was extremely nice and polite, gave him a good tip for service. Ambiance, nice, dark, but no matter where your seated, extremely loud like being in a salon. If you want a good sandwich, I suggest just go to an old fashioned burger stand , the price will be the same, so the sandwich's weren't pricey, $18. I won't be returning

l've been a longtime customer since I was a little boy coming with my family. The food quality is terrific, and the service is even better. Briana is an incredibly nice bartender and always puts a smile on her customers' faces. Of course, it's hard not to smile when you're in that cozy, warm ambience and have in front of you a piping hot basket of North Woods cheese bread and cabbage salad done like no place else on the planet.

The portions here are way too tiny for the price you pay. I ordered the combo 9 oz sirloin steak and shrimp for $48, and I upgraded to a 13 oz steak for $7 more. I added a diet Coke for an extra $5 (damn you inflation). They gave me 3 shrimp! The steak looked small too but the waiter reassured me it was a 13 oz steak. Taste: just ok. The shrimp was kind of dry if you don't dip it in the butter sauce. I ordered the steak medium and it was just average, about the same quality I'd get if I made it myself. I used steak sauce because the steak wasn't anything special. My message to the owner is to not cheap out on the shrimp. 3 shrimps is pathetic! It should be at least 6 shrimp. They are way too stingy here. I do give them an extra star for having pretty good cheese bread. I recommend everyone to avoid this place and go to Del Rae in Pico Rivera instead. The pricing there was similar, but the portions were much bigger and the steaks were much much better. It's kind of a ripoff here.

Wow! I have never even heard of this restaurant until my friends decided to come here for a friend's birthday! The food was absolutely delicious! I ordered the combo of lobster and filet mignon! I highly recommend this! The lobster was sooooo tasty and so was the steak! Our server NESSA was sooooo amazing! She was so attentive and gave the best recommendations! She took great care of our party! She deserves a raise! Keep up the great work! Thank you for taking care of us! Easy parking.

A very American steakhouse. Definitely made the reservation, it could be pretty business over the weekend. Fun thing about this restaurant is you can eat tons of peanuts and throw all the shell on the ground. But bad thing is, if ANYONE in your party has ANY nuts allergy. Don't even come close to this restaurant as it will be life threatening. Menu is pretty simple and on a wood plague on the table. Tried couple of different steaks. The toma hawk is surprisingly good. And can be share between 2 (no one can finish 34oz). Even all sides can be shared. Or you can ask for new sides Chicken and seafood is just mid. This is a pure steakhouse. Just stick with the steak. They do offer huge size of red cabbage salad (very good and refreshing), lettuce salad (TOO much dressings and very soggy), cheese bread (too much butter and cheese, too heavy for my taste) I wish they would have some normal bread and lighter salad. Service is ok, servers come and check periodically. Not the best, but it's alright. Overall a pretty nice steak house in SGV. But seeing so much nuts flying around just make me feel a little nervous for those who suffered allergy!

Took the family out for Easter Dinner , party of 12 . We normally dine at the Covina location . Logistics required us to dine at the San Gabriel location ( Rosemead and Huntington ) Wow ! Huge difference . Staff is so friendly , service so quick and servers / bus staff amazing . Our waitress was Gail ( I'm sorry I didn't get the other gentleman's name ) they were awesome . Quick to take our order , food came out quick and nobody's out table was ever without anything they needed . Thank You to everyone at this location for an outstanding and very enjoyable dining experience . We all agreed from now on , this will be our Northwoods inn dining location .

This is one of my most favorite restaurants. If you want food and flavors you can count on to be consistent, this is the place. Let's start with the fresh and free starters... The yummy blue cheese and the purple cabbage salads are oh so simple, but oh so delicious. They still taste the same as when I used to come with my family as a child. My favorite is getting two scoops of the green salad, and a dash of purple and mixing them together. Even the waitress recommended eating it that way as a fan favorite. But the cheesy cheese toast is always a winner and always steals the show! It's so delicious that we order a second round before we're even finished with the first. The food is always delicious too. The lobster was so sweet and delicious. And guess what?!?! They finally brought king crab back. It's not on the menu but it is available as an entree. For a good solid dinner & drinks night on the town, this is the place.

We hadn't been in years. The service was excellent. The waiter had been there for many, many years and was just the best! Give this guy a raise. Ya, it's pricey but so delicious. Will definitely go back, and soon!

I remember being a kid and being completely fascinated by this place, especially the snow on top of the roof. It's still a fun place to visit with the family. The garlic cheese bread and the cabbage salad are just so yum, it could be a meal in itself. Portions are large there is plenty of carbs to go with your steak. I opted for the filet which is a classic go to for me, cooked perfectly. Staff are great. Shout out to our server Vince who was so attentive.

Came in after a long day and was greeted by Dorothy and Briana at the bar. The restaurant was quiet and relaxing with many people celebrating birthdays! I was immediately served and everything at the bar was excellent!

AMAZING! The food was great, as usual. My husband always gets the Steak and Lobster and I ordered the ribeye. I ate off of that 3 times! But what made this trip so great was the excellent service and the Cafe de Olla Old Fashioneds. What a unique drink and I nice surprise from the usual.

We tried all of their sandwiches and was surprised at how good it was. It wasn't overly salty like the Hat. We'll be back.

My family and I were unable to decide on a place to eat yesterday. My mom suggested this place because we drove by it many times. It was nice inside. Pretty big. It took like 15 minutes to get seated. It was somewhat busy. We ordered the Lumberjack 9oz steak. Dinner came with ayce salad, cabbages, and cheese bread. We also got an order of the ground fresh steak (dinner menu). I myself ordered the lunch halibut sandwich opened face. I didn't expect it to be just the fish and rice on the plate. The menu said it came with salad. So when the server asked if I wanna make it dinner, I refused because mine came with salad. He gave me this odd look, and before leaving, he was like confirming that I wanted salad with my lunch order. So I kindly agreed to it. That was when I had a feeling that he was going to add an additional cost to my order. Yup! Another $5.95. I let it slide because I enjoyed the extra salad and cabbages. However, I didn't like how the waiter wasn't straightforward. If he explained it, I would have said ok to it. I do need to point out that service was really whatever at the beginning. I had a mask on. I later removed my mask because the breads were coming. The same waiter came with bread, and salad started telling me how nice I looked without the mask. Service has been friendlier since. Like wth? Not good... Overall, the food was only ok. My halibut tasted weird. It had this strong charcoal taste. Not a fan at all. The rice was ok. The Lumberjack steak was a bit tough to chew on. Flavor wise was not bad. The baked potatoes were pretty good. A bit on the salty side, but good!! My fav was definitely the salad and cabbages. I would go here just for that lol Cheese bread was ok. Should be toasted more. Also, on the salty side. Can toss the peanut shells on the floor. I think I will pass on coming back. Good day!

I must say, I always have a great experience here with my family. I'm surprised to see those who said to differ-- I am a fan of their complimentary cheesy bread, and their famous salad. I also don't normally ever drink soda or sugary beverages, but I exceptionally do get their root beer here because I heard they make their own. Aside from that I was happy to see new adjustment with the menu. Our server, Angie, assisted us throughout our time dinning in with them. She was so sweet, and helpful especially since I wanted to try something different and new. I decided to get a patty melt sandwich with potatoes on the side, and my partner got the prime dip sandwich as well. It was a nice dinner to end our evening on a good note. Thank you Angie for accommodating us! We didn't expect to come by that evening, but we're guided there at the last minute, and it was so worth it!

The food is overpriced. Definitely do not take it to go bc they give you absolutely no protein and you realize it after you have left. However, it's an easy place to bring in-laws and the cheese bread is addicting. I wish their green salad had at least some cherry tomatoes and croutons in it and not just iceberg lettuce with ranch. Get their french dip, baked potatoes or chicken plates. The environment is comfortable and chill and i have always had great service.

Haven't been in years and my aunt and uncle decided to treat us! Man the prices are expensive, but I remember they're usually on the higher end of pricing even before. We came in for dinner at 5pm and roughly not a long wait (a few minutes). Around 7 the place is packed!! Near the entrance it's been hard to move around. We entered through the back which meant going to the front to be seated. There were So many cute decorations! Since we came during winter there were Christmas stuff everywhere. It's a bit dark, with dim lights everywhere. If you need to see clearly, don't worry, do what I see others were doing which is just use your phone flash light. :) they can't judge since it really is dim inside! They have two bears in glass cases, if my baby wasn't napping he'd probably stay watching the bears all night. At first we ordered soda so we can decide what to order. The drinks came in cute thick wine glasses. The shelled Peanuts are complimentary and I threw the shells on the floor as they told us to hehe. The menu had the usual American food options, appetizers we ordered to try was the loggers sampler. The wings were too salty unfortunately but good flavor,fried zucchini (3 pieces) was under the onion rings, and mozzarella sticks. The dipping sauce was big! I think was blue cheese as it had chunks in it, but great. We ordered clam chowder bowls, it wasn't on the menu but my aunt and uncle remembered precovid they had soups. It was 8.50 each and the portion is pretty big! Our entrees came with cheese toast (also super oily and salty but damn delicious), cabbage salad (vinegary), and lettuce salad (ranch?). I like them all but we're getting pretty full before the real food came! We ordered sirloin burger (ground sirloin) it comes with rice but we can sub for fries for 1$ more. Fried chicken which was half a chicken (4 pieces), baked potato with the dressings on the side, and pilaf rice. Fried chicken was juicy and not salty like the wings. Rice was good flavor, but didn't eat much of it. The star of the dish was the BIG baked potato. I don't usually eat potatoes but maaaaan If you add the entire butter, sour cream and chives, and that cheese inside, mix, enjoy cuz its so good. I ate the entire potato. :( I know I shouldn't but I did... Didn't order any deserts since we had so much leftover.

Have you ever come to a steakhouse just for the salad? North Woods Inn is the best place for salad. They have 2 complimentary salads that they offer when you sit down. They offer a lettuce salad with a bleu cheese dressing and a red cabbage salad with a very tangy vinaigrette. You place them side by side on your plate and eat them together, but you do not mix!! It is divine. I often get full on salad before my steak even comes out. It's also served with bread toasted with their signature cheese butter. I got the New York Strip medium rare, which was served with rice pilaf and a baked potato, also covered in cheese butter. The steak was cooked to perfection. It was so tender and juicy. The cheese butter on the baked potato is also addictive! The most fun part of this place is the decor! You walk in and are immediately greeted by a large bear. All the tables are served peanuts and you are encouraged to throw the peanut shells on the floor. It has a very cabin-y feel, and they decorate beautifully for Christmas. I came here for a holiday party, and I highly recommend this restaurant for a nice dinner with a small party or a large party.

They do an excellent job of maintaining the charming "cabin in the woods" theme, which I found quite appealing. The decor is rustic and cozy. I had high hopes for this place, but I was left feeling like something was missing and overall quite disappointed. The best-tasting dishes were undoubtedly the garlic bread and the lettuce and cabbage salad. They were both flavorful and satisfying, which set a good start to the meal. However, the main attraction, the steak, did not live up to expectations. I ordered the tomahawk steak, and while I'm not a huge steak enthusiast, I couldn't help but notice it was missing seasoning. The steak was juicy and tender, but it lacked the robust flavors one would expect from a well-seasoned cut. Additionally, I was surprised by the sharing fee policy. The entrees are large enough to share, but be aware that they do charge a fee for sharing. We initially wanted just a side of jumbo shrimp, but ended up ordering the whole entree because with the sharing fee, it would have cost the same. Overall, Clearman's Northwood Inn Steakhouse offers a cool atmosphere and is worth visiting for the bread and salad. However, if you're looking for a well-seasoned steak, you might want to explore other options.

Service was wonderful, the ambience is such a trip! It's a cabin with stained glass everywhere but you can't see outside from within. A restaurant that should be in Disneyland, it's kitschy in a good way. You throw peanut shells on the floor, they bring everyone 2 types of salad and cheesy bread- portions are crazy large. We had the scallops, drinks and a mudslide pie. The leftovers were had for dinner and lunch the next day, lol. So much food.

I came in to the restaurant with a friend to blow off some steam, take in the cozy, unique atmosphere, and enjoy some appetizers after what has been a very stressful week for everyone in the Los Angeles area. As we were finishing up, an older man seated a few tables away came up to us and aggressively accused us of ruining their meal by being too loud and "woke." We were both shocked as this man was seated quite far away from us, they had not received any of their food, and we were both speaking at a normal volume for a large, busy restaurant filled with families and many other patrons. This escalated into a scene when we reciprocated his belligerent tone to the point a manager was forced to come over and "attempt" a resolution. Despite the fact that this man approached our table, pointed his finger in our faces, and initiated the conflict, the manager treated us very dismissively; only offering to comp our food when we explained that he was the one acting inappropriately. In fact, another diner came to our table to validate that we were not being disruptive and even offered to pay for our meal, which we declined since we were under the pretense that our bill was already handled. When we went up front to confirm we were good to go, the manager then denied ever offering us this comp. He proceeded to storm away when we stood our ground; leaving the dispute to be handled by the rest of the staff. At this point, I was preparing to pay so we could just escape the entire situation, when a server, the only staff to show a modicum of professionalism, told us we were free to go and that our bill would be handled by the diner that offered to pay earlier. As someone who has worked as a server for five years in the past, I am absolutely appalled at the way management handled this entire situation. You do not need to have years of customer service experience to recognize that these types of situations are supposed to be diffused by a manager; not only to avoid putting other staff in an uncomfortable position but to decrease liability if conflicts were to escalate further. It should not fall on the servers and ESPECIALLY not on other paying customers to shoulder the responsibility of dealing with the fallout from aggressive diners. As I was standing in the parking lot going over the entire situation with my friend, I felt extremely heated that management essentially ruined Clearman's for us. Despite the mediocre food, I really enjoyed the ambiance of North Woods as a distinctive, legacy establishment in San Gabriel. I felt even worse for my friend who grew up in the area and dined at the restaurant since she was a child. To all future diners at Clearman's who find themselves targeted by other guests, be warned that the manager with a white buzz cut and a thin blue line pin is incapable of resolving conflicts in a professional manner and you will largely be left to fend for yourself.

Love Northwoods Inn! My family has been going here since we were kids. I now bring my fiancé and his best friend for their birthdays every year in December and sprinkle visits in between. Love the snow and cozy atmosphere, the log cabin feel in a bustling city can make you feel like you're far away the snowy mountains. The food is amazing, obviously you'll hear the bread and salads are amazing alone. Baked potato and we like to get the steak and seafood for a mix, but everything I've had has been great that we've tried.

Walking into this place was like a blast from the past. It's decorated in a cabin style with taxidermy animals everywhere and dim lights. The host stand was like all the way down and not near the entrance which was a bit confusing. We were seated quickly and got our orders taken promptly which was nice. They also set out peanuts to munch on. The big problem is the food. We had ordered steak and shrimp and a brisket sandwich. The sandwich was just okay. I can't really justify coming back and paying almost $20 for it. Reminded me of like food from the County Fair. The steak was like hard as a rock and dry. They shrimps tasted like they had been in the freezer for a really long time. I was like we probably shouldn't eat it; it tasted off like it might make us sick. All the sides and stuff were okay, but I wouldn't come back. Honestly surprised this place is still open.

Yesterday was our fourth trip to Clearman's and the first time I've ever tried Tomahawk Steak. Oh my goodness what a fantastic meal! The appetizer sampler was perfection, the wings were spicy, crispy, and juicy, the onion rings were crisp and the batter deliciously seasoned, and the mozzarella sticks were the perfect blend of crunch and melty cheese. Bleu cheese dressing was gorgeous as always and the marinara sauce was perfectly flavored and served WARM, something many other restaurants neglect. Not these champs! The double salads and cheese bread are too tasty for words and only pose the danger of making you too full for your main course. The drinks are delicious and strong. But the STEAK. My god that cow never did a thing in its life! Tender, juicy, perfectly rare with a photo-perfect sear, it was glorious. We came back with no leftovers. The potatoes with cheese butter and the rice pilaf were awesome, but that steak came out like the angels made it and floated it down from on high. Go to Clearman's. Take a selfie next to the bear. Steal the mug, apparently. You will not be disappointed.

Went to dinner with my sister after a wonderful play. Our waitress Nessa was amazing! So friendly, helpful and attentive. She gave great suggestions and recommendations. Ribeye steak was cooked perfectly, always love the cheesebread, salad and red cabbage! Was very disappointed with the baked potato & veggies, they both tasted as if they were previously frozen. That is my only complaint. The atmosphere was great and again, we had an incredible waitress!

Food: - Angus steak: 9.5/10, the rice wasn't good (too sour), and potato was huge - open face steak sandwich: 5.5/10, just steak on a plate and two pieces of bread, same slaw, rice - appetizer trio: 7.5/10, great for sharing, too salty - cabbage slaw is good 9.5/10 - cheese bread: 9.5/10 Service: - weird seating policy: came on a Saturday, 3/4 of the restaurant was empty but we had to wait for our whole party to be seated - we were also seated where all the other patrons were, it makes sense for the wait staff to seat us closer to other patrons for convenience but we were back to back with another table - our waitstaff was friendly Ambiance: - interior decor is very much western/winter cabin vibes - easy to find parking

I've been going here for more than 50 years. It's exactly as I remember it. The food was awesome as usual and the red cabbage salad was wonderful. I am told that mixing the red cabbage with the regular salad with blue cheese dressing is incredible, but I hate blue cheese dressing Get together with a number of my college buddies and had an outstanding experience. I'll be back !

Ordered a Hamburger meal for a small burger that tasted like old meat. The quality of their food is disgusting!! It literally tastes like expired beef. Also the size of the Hamburger have shrunk. They look like a JR burger for kids. The workers are very rude and miserable. They give you an attitude when you ask them to take your order. Their prices are outrageous. You are better off going to The Cheesecake Factory for those prices and getting your moneys worth. The Cheesecake has much better quality food with friendly people that work there. Whoever is running Clearmans is greedy and is feeding his customers low quality old meat. And again the size of the burger compared to the old ones are tiny. Clearmans you should be ashamed of yourselves! I'll never go there again. Also tell the ladies behind the register to be nice and smile instead of giving customers an attitude.
