"Experience the newly remodeled Clearman’s Steak ‘N Stein in Pico Rivera for DineLA. The $65 menu includes a starter, main, and dessert. The three surf and turf entree options — filet mignon with shrimp, New York steak with scallops, and filet mignon with seabass — are especially good deals." - Cathy Chaplin

Didn't realize it had been years since I have enjoyed Steak and Stein and haven't posted a review and there are a few things to report as changed. First Kudis for surviving a pandemic. Many icons in the neighborhood didn’t survive. The first obvious change is curb appeal. Some modest improvements with flower beds, lighting, and walkway paths from the parking. One primary entry towards the front - I will get back to that in a bit. The old bar has been remodeled. There used to be a little side dining area, a bar in the middle, and a lounge area by the vintage fireplace. Well no more- now you walk a small waiting hall to the hostess desk. Be careful it will be dark so if you have sunglasses on or it's bright outside give yourself some time to adjust. Otherwise, you may bump into a guest. To the left is a larger dinning area with a music stage - so consider that the lounge area for date nights. The bar is in the middle with a counter and a few high stools. By the fireplace, it's now all the dining area. I would guess that the new config optimizes the number of available tables for full-on dining. Service is still warm classsy and friendly. Ashley was a great host. Now the food. No downgrades in the quality of the ribe eye. Our absolute favorite here. Cheesebread is classic. Now the salad. Iceberg lettuce, crisp and fresh, with crunchy croutons. But the best is the dressings. Blue cheese, Ranch, and Fench. Here is my suggestion, mix in some of the purple cabbage salad and then smother with blue cheese dressing. Yum yum. Don’t go over medium on your steak. Trust the chef. I just love that you can make reservations online which helps with wait times. So not only did they survive Pandemic they improved and bumped up my rating to 5 stars. Way to go.

Clearman’s is a great steakhouse option when you're craving steak but don’t want to make the long drive or spend over $100 on a meal. It’s reasonably priced and fills the gap left by a mid-priced restaurant I used to frequent before its quality declined. On this visit, I ordered the NY strip. Unfortunately, it was a bit of a miss—the steak was tougher than expected and cooked closer to medium or medium-well, despite my request for medium rare. That said, the baked potato was excellent and definitely a highlight. One thing I really appreciate about Clearman’s is that they include several sides with the meal: a salad, red cabbage, baked potato, and onion rings—all without the typical à la carte pricing. While this visit wasn’t perfect, Clearman’s still hits the spot when I want a solid steakhouse experience without the premium price tag or long drive. I’ll definitely return. Service was also great.

Steak 'N Stein is classic, old school vibes and great food! I've gone twice and both meals were enjoyable. Their salad is delicious BECAUSE of the dressings! The blue cheese and house dressings are thiccc and rich. Definitely not healthy but mighty tasty! Save the dressings to dip your fried onions in! The red cabbage salad is a great side. Bright and slightly acidic. Ask for more when your streaks come. It helps offset the richness. And they give you buttery cheese bread! Need I say more!? First time there I had the boneless rib eye medium rare. It was seasoned well and juicy. The second time I order the 9oz. top sirloin with grilled shrimp. The top sirloin was cooked to my liking. Medium rare. It was lacking seasoning and was a little dry despite being medium rare. Still tasty but should have ordered a NY syrup strip or rib eye. Their monstrous potatoes and crispy onions are spot on! They cut your baked potato table side. Tell them how much butter you want. Then they add sour cream, green onions and CHEESE SAUCE! Come enjoy the untouched, old school ambiance and classic steak house menu. It's way better than North Woods Inn.

definitely need to go back. there was a lot of food. this place has allot of character, and nostalgia. there's a place to step into a previous era that keeps the quality and atmosphere, and this is one of those places. Lavender was great, and the service was top notch. i want to try their prime rib, as it's only Friday thru Sunday. the sheer volume of food; never go unless you're on an empty stomach and missed the meal before. Buddy was ordering an orange Julius martini. tasty and the vodka wasn't tasted but it was felt. first time for me, ended up having a couple more. the rib eye was well cooked, and i should have asked for some of the au jus. i enjoyed it, but I'm still looking forward to their prime rib. round two is coming. you can bet on it.

Decided to come have lunch here, after work. Walked inside, plenty seating available to have a nice, quiet lunch. Ordered off the dinner menu. For myself I ordered the Chilean sea bass & asked if it came w/capers, when my plate came out, I noticed the fish was cold & no capers. Brought it to the servers attention & she said, that the cook had just notified her that they were all out of capers, but she never told me anything! Until I noticed! Felt like she was blaming others & walking on eggshells for her mistake. She asked if she can get me another piece of fish, but by this time I was already uncomfortable & ready to leave. At least the hubby had a good meal with his filet Mignon. Also did not appreciate being told I was going to starve because I wasn't ordering another fish. I probably won't visit this location anymore. We love the Galley & Northwoods.

Only giving 3 stars for atmosphere, not because it's not lonely. It's just to dark for me. Maybe some brighter lights on the tables for us to choose if we want it brighter. I have trouble seeing as it is. But it is a beautiful place.

Google
As someone who eats here about once or twice a month I beg you to bring back the old fries. I’m not going to deduct a star because I love this place so much. But…yesterday when the overly fried skinny fries came out I was sooo disappointed. If I’m getting steak I want the thick steak fries. Too many places are changing their menu to cut costs but I promise you the audience doesn’t want these fries. I love you guys deeply. Please reevaluate this decision.

Extremely disappointing experience. We waited over 20 minutes after being seated without a single acknowledgment from the waitress—no greeting, no water, nothing. Meanwhile, the table next to us received prompt, friendly service with smiles and frequent check-ins. The difference in treatment was obvious and uncomfortable. When our food finally came, it was practically thrown on the table—sloppy and unappetizing, like leftovers scooped for animals. The quality didn’t match the price at all. The whole experience felt like we were being judged based on how we looked, as if we weren’t “good tippers.” To top it off, our bill was $151 and I paid $160 in cash. The waitress didn’t deserve a tip, but we didn’t even wait for change—we just wanted to get out of there. Do yourself a favor: skip this place. Go to Steak Corral instead—you’ll get better food, better service, and be treated like a human being.

Yelp
Went on Mother's Day for dinner at 7pm. I made reservations in advance and they sat us within 5 minutes of arriving. Delicious as always! Service is always impeccable!! I ordered the Clearman's Combination plate which is chicken, scallops and beef brochettes. It was very tasty! The scallops were my favorite! Hubby ordered rib eye steak and he loved it! You can't go wrong here! Always a pleasure dining at Clearman's!

Yelp
I remember when going to Steak 'N Stein meant something. This place used to take pride in its food and service and as a consumer, you could feel it. I wish the deterioration and downfall of this location wasn't so apparent, but it's bad. Came in for a late dinner with my girlfriend (who was excited to try it, as I had been hyping it up) and were informed by the hostess that they were no longer seating tables, but that we could sit at the bar. Not a huge deal, initially, but then the bartender informed us that was interesting because they should still be seating guests. Odd. We proceed to go over our menus while we have a couple of loud mouth boozers sitting next to us, who were clearly over-served, being rude to the bartender and overall just annoyingly loud and drunk. To the point that my girlfriend apologized to the bartender on the drunkard's behalf, to which she informed us that he was a local and regular and that she was not offended by his comments. This circus continued as he kept interrupting the bartender as we were trying to order our food at which point I made it a point to have words with the slob and told him to back off. Not very good vibes. By this point the food was ordered and by the time it came out we just didn't have the will to eat anymore so we ended up taking most of our food to go. As we were getting ready to pay, one of the more aware employees that was cleaning up the tables also made it a point to make a comment to the drunkard and politely ask him to stop cussing and yelling. The boozer did not comply. Before leaving I got up to use the restroom and a manager came up to my girl and apologized for the slob's behavior. My girlfriend asked for a refund as we spent nearly $300 on a dinner that largely ended up in the garbage where we got home but the best he could muster up was a gift card. As if we ever want to spend another dime in the shell of a steakhouse. Save yourself some money and go to Chili's happy hour instead of Steak 'N Stein, you'll get the same experience.

Yelp
The steak was good. The service was great. The biance was a bit dark but they have kept its charm since they opened decades back. It was great to go for an experience but I wouldn't go back when craving steak.

Yelp
This restaurant has been our go to for celebratory events for a long time! The quality and service has not changed much and we are grateful. We always make reservations because this place is always hoppin! If you want a good steak, this is the place to go. I always choose the BONELESS RIBEYE STEAK medium rare. It comes with two kinds of salad, all the cheesy bread you can eat, onion rings and a baked potato. A lot of bang for your buck! They are served with multiple dressings and toppings, so many options! For the first time, we did have some over cooked steaks. We feel bad to ask for help but we always order medium rare and this was well done and tough. We had a big group and the place was pretty busy so I get that things happen. We felt a little friction from the staff but they made it right and we really appreciated that. I think that's what makes a really good restaurant. We weren't upset and glad to have a good meal. We'll always come back for more cause this place is delish and the service is top notch.

Yelp
Steak N Stein - Yes please! Their new bar area is lovely. It gives this gem of a restaurant an updated look. We sat in the bar area and our server was very attentive and polite. He was on it! I ordered the steak and lobster. This dish did not disappoint. The portion is generous. Let's start with the lobster. Wow! A full tail that was delicious. It was big! Dip it in the melted butter. Oh la la! Loved it! The steak was a little overcooked (ordered medium rare) but it was still packed with flavor. It was also tender and juicy! Their baked potatoes are huge! I wemt woth butter, sour cream and their melted cheese. Loved it! Definitely going to come back to have the steak and lobster again. It has a fresh vibe that was much needed.

Yelp
My friend and I decided to come eat here on a weekday and it was pretty busy! Our server Sarah was super energetic, friendly and accommodating and was able to answer all the questions that we had. Even the manager was nice enough to come check up on us and it feels nice as it shows the management and staff works together as a team. My friend and I decided to opt in for the Calamari, and Rib Eye Steak. By the time we finished our calamari, and blue cheese salad, we literally had no room left for our entrees. What I do like about this place is that they offer three different types of dressings for your salad compared to the Rosemead location with just only blue cheese dressing.

Yelp
Okay so three stars mainly based on the ambiance versus the food. So I will split this review: Food: 4/5, super fresh and delicious they seem to heat or finish cooking the steak over the fire they bring to the table which definitely adds a touch. For main course I had the ribeye steak with sweet potato fries which were delicious and well seasoned. House salad is good too. We had the tid bits too and the dumplings which were 10/10!! Especially the dumplings considering it's a steak house. Calamari was good too. Highlight: the baked potatoes are great and they bring sauces and condiments for every food and they're super unique and delicious ! Ambiance: it's very dark and poorly lit but it is a sort of vibe. But just be aware it's dark. Great service and knowledgeable staff.

Yelp
This has been a family favorite for special occasions for over 40 years. You can't beat the steaks.

Yelp
Tried this place for the first time on Valentine's Day, let me down big time. For the price, I expected better. I knew it would be busy, so we can forget about the wait times to be served, even though I had a reservation. The place is obviously dark, looks old inside, smoky as well. Anyhow, we did the fixed meal for 2 for $160 or $150, can't remember now. We had the Lobster and my wife did a steak. The lobster was Soo over cooked, it was rubber, dry....just terrible, no amount of butter could bring that back to life. The salad that came prior has some pieces of iceburg lettuce that were pretty much ice...we ordered the beef tips appetizer, charred!!! Come on now...I don't like returning food, but damn this should have been one of those moments. See the image attached. The best parts were the Old Fashioned, from the grumpy male bar tender, complaining of lack of help to a coworker, and the bacon wrapped scallops. But after paying over $200 for my entire meal and drinks, definitely not worth it... No Military Discount

Brittany H.

Yelp
If you're in the mood to indulge in an excellent steak dinner, this is the best place to experience it! From the delicious salad dressings and pickled cabbage, famous cheese bread and loaded baked potato, you can't go wrong with dinner here. We just enjoyed the bacon wrapped scallops for an appetizer and a boneless ribeye steak cooked to perfection. Exceptional service -- our server Megan anticipated our needs and the general manager Casey checked in on us to make sure our experience was enjoyable. The new bar is beautiful and the bar menus look brand new and updated. Matt at the bar made us delicious espresso martinis after dinner. A must visit!

Yelp
Had a great outing this last Saturday (June 2024). This can be a hit or miss place, but we've had a good outings the last few times. Hope this is the consistency this place deserves. I really like the remodeled bar and it's just a good vibe there. The layout of the restaurant on the old lounge area is awkward at times, but doable. Enjoy the fountain (hope the fire returns for winters). Our server was maybe spread a little thin, but they did a great job. Food was good (keep the consistency up) and of course always leftovers.

Yelp
Friends and I enjoyed one of our final meals of 2023 together at Clearman's Steak 'N Stein. It was a first time visit for all but one of us and the experience overall was great. The service was friendly and attentive, the food was plentiful, and the overall ambiance of the establishment was memorable. Clearman's Steak 'N Stein is located in Pico Rivera and has a free parking lot located behind the building. We came in on a Friday evening for dinner and, even though they were busy, the parking lot seemed to have more than enough spaces to house all of the cars. The layout of the restaurant provides both a bar area that is cleverly sectioned off and a dining area with several rooms. The amount of space the restaurant holds is initially deceiving, but they seemed to be able to sit and serve many parties comfortably. As noted above, our server was wonderful. He was friendly, patient, attentive, and quick with requests. The meal overall was good. Every table was given a basket of their cheese bread to start the meal. It was delicious! I had to hold back from having multiple servings. I ended up ordering the Steak and Shrimp combo, which also came with a salad. I appreciated how they brought out three different dressings for us to choose to our liking. Our main meals were assembled table side. This was a unique and personal touch that I wasn't expecting but appreciated. The portions were huge. My Steak and Shrimp combo came with a 9 oz sirloin, three shrimp (I ended up selecting them to be coconut shrimp), a large and fluffy baked potato, and onion rings. Everything complemented each other perfectly. The server brought us fixings for our potato to share at the table. It was heaven. I was a little disappointed with my steak. It was dry, tough, and a little cold. Hoping it was an off day or perhaps it was an end-of-the-night hiccup since it seems like steak is one of their signature things they serve. Positive first experience at Clearman's Steak 'N Stein. I would visit again if given the opportunity.

Yelp
We have dined at Steak 'N Stein many times in the past. Our experiences have been lukewarm to amazing! The new bar area looks great and fresh! This past time, we were celebrating my husband's birthday. The food quality was poor to say the least. We have had better in past experiences. Although I did make a mistake by ordering the wrong wine (it was caught before it was opened), our waitress seemed out of sorts. She forgot multiple items including bread baskets or additional salads. She forgot to come back to check on us after we were served our food. In fact, my daughter discovered a long hair in her steak and we had to wait to try and catch her attention (the manager assisted us afterwards). We really wanted to love our experience, but unfortunately, we couldn't. We won't be back to this place.

Yelp
stumbled upon this steakhouse in Pico Rivera with no expectations, initially hoping for a hint of fine dining during a work lunch. The food exceeded my expectations; the filet mignon, though ordered well-done, was surprisingly good, and the wedge salad, despite being overdressed and lacking bleu cheese, showcased the restaurant's potential. I'd give the food a solid 4, though the menu selection was just okay. However, the decor created an awkward atmosphere for a business lunch. The place was exceptionally dark, lacking even romantic candlelight. The red Christmas lights and a lone fountain contributed to a more Halloween than Christmas vibe. It was unexpected and a bit bizarre. On the positive side, the service was good, with a helpful waitress who navigated us through the menu, though the unnecessary flame "show" left me more nervous than entertained--might be better for the restaurant to do away with this "show", which consisted of the waitress dousing a grill in oil and taking a match to it. Overall, this spot is a decent choice for those craving steak above Outback or Black Angus but falling short of Morton's. The value surprised us, given the bill's affordability for wine, filet mignon, a wedge salad, and shrimp cocktail. I will say this is not suitable for a business lunch. The value is definitely there. Unfortunately, the ambiance was just so weird to me.

Yelp
Came here to celebrate a birthday and the service was far from perfect. Our party sat at the bar to wait for a table and we waited over an hour and half to be seated. After asking a second time if our table was ready, they informed us it would be a few minutes but yet no one ever came to seat us. The bar area at this time was packed with patrons and they were definitely overworking the one bartender they had. Might I say, the bartender was amazing and she was just about the only one who provided great service while we waited patiently for a table! It wasn't until we requested to eat at the bar (since we weren't provided a table) did the bartender speak up and finally they came to seat us. The dining area was near empty the entire time so we couldn't figure out what their issue was. The food was just as underwhelming as the service, and quite pricey for the lack of flavors. The reason for the two stars is that the cheese bread they serve was actually delicious, and would probably be the only reason I would consider going back. The ambiance of the restaurant is dark and brooding, but kitschy if that's your thing. There is plenty of parking behind the establishment so parking should be the least of your issues. From my experience, I would advise against coming here with a large party because they don't seem to care to serve them.

Amanda N.

Yelp
My bf and I wanted to do a "just because" date night. This place is close to my house, so we came here. We've been to other Clearman's and this one is way fancier. No discarded peanut shells on the floor! The vibe is right up my aesthetic: Goodfellas!! Low light, gaudy chandeliers, older men bussing tables and refilling my water! Love it! The food was amazing! I had the NY Strip, he had the Mahi Mahi. The waitress was quick, no chatter (but very courteous, not rude), just doing her job. We had the loveliest time. I had a glass of Kendall Jackson Merlot. He had an Old Fashioned. The night was perfect!

Edgar E.

Yelp
The bar had an overhaul, looks great ! Very good place to eat good service nice atmosphere and food is GOOD!!...

Jared P.

Yelp
Service is ok dinner took about 1 hour Quality of meat is just like dennys or norms i will probably never come back .

Apryl M.

Yelp
My family has been coming here for probably 60 years or more. Back in the day it was very high-end and you got a consistent dining experience. Although I do still love their signature items such as delicious cheese bread, wonderful baked potatoes with cheese sauce, sour cream, & chives, and their unique salad. The overall dining experience has slowly gone down over the years. I always get the scallops and I'm rarely disappointed, but I'm told the steak quality is not much to write home about anymore. They no longer have a happy hour menu and you don't get the yummy peanuts with your cocktails like you used to. If it's not super crowded, the service can be great, but when they're busy, it can be very hit and miss. The atmosphere is kind of like a 1960s old-school steakhouse, dark and moody. Will probably continue to come just because of those signature items I mentioned and the nostalgic "feels" it gives me.

Cheryl L.

Yelp
We had a funeral at Rose Hills and had a reservation with them. It was pouring rain and they accommodated our needs. Brought our reservation up and allowed us to do the "service" at the restaurant. The service was amazing and they accommodated our needs. The restaurant was a little dark but the food was out of this world. We got the banquet package and it was so good. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Sergio F.

Yelp
Overpriced food in a dark cave. With decent service. The service is the best thing of this place. 1st : ALL OF THE FOOD WAS SERVED COLD. 2nd : Sea Bass was all green beans and a bit of fish for $56 3rd: the steaks were mostly burnt 4th : something black in one of the baked potato., but the restaurant doesn't have any light, so it was too dark to see what it is, but we threw it away in a napkin. For lunch weekend dont order the steak and lobster. Tiny half filet minon and HALF A LOBSTER TAIL. unbelievable, not mentioned on the menu that i was gonna get half a lobster tail. For $40 A RIP OFF. be careful if you bring kids because there are topless paintings in one of the dining rooms. Pretty much a failure unless your doing a bad deal or dark deal here. Ambience is dark and brooding. I would stay away from this place.

Amber G.

Yelp
Honestly I was very disappointed in the quality of the food. When you're paying $50+ for a steak, you expect a good quality and the right cut. I ordered a ribeye and received a New York. It was so extremely tough, I ate maybe a quarter of it and that was it. It took over 30 min just for them to take my card after presenting the check, so that was a bit frustrating as well. There's just nothing wow about this restaurant and I would much rather go somewhere with a higher quality of meat.

Karen K.

Yelp
Well this place was the "GoTo" for family celebrations. After the revamp of their bar area (expansion) it has lost some ambiance. I used to like the big waiting room with the wood seats. Most are gone and it is now all dining tables. The baked potato and cheesebread were meh. They seriously downsized the potato ( used to be the size of the plate ) and the cheesebread had no spread on it. Our waitress was mediocre. Everything must change, I guess. Sadly I'll remember the great times as a kid. Hey Clearman's. Get some knives that work.... as well. I'm being generous on the 3. I gave overall a 7 out of 10.

Andrue G.

Yelp
Came here to celebrate my son's birthday. There were a party of 6. And they took over a hour to get us our food. The service was horrible she didn't even ask if we were celebrating anything.food came and it was cold. I didn't want to complain because I didn't want to mess. Up my sons birthday.

Yelp
I've got to steak n stein for years since I live super close to it and have always enjoyed myself there up until they redid their bar. It looks nice but something about the place has changed. There's no happy hour anymore which was always a catch. I went about a month ago and the steaks were so dry and tasteless. My most recent visit was for Sunday for their Mother's Day prix fixe menu and the food was delicious and so was our waitress. However I had called about two weeks prior to get a reservation and they told me they weren't taking reservations for brunch they were only doing walk ins. So I decided to get there at 10 in anticipation that it would likely be busy. The hostess who checked me in asked if I had a reservation and I said I called and they told me no reservations. She said oh sorry but we had reservations so it will be a 20min wait. Which ok no big deal glad I came early. So we had our meals, champagne and dessert and like I said food and waitress was great. Then I saw the manager with the bottle of champagne pass by so I said oh excuse me can I get a refill to which he replied "yeah hold on". Didn't see him for a while but the server came by and asked if I wanted more and she gave me more. We were wrapping up and the manager came over and rudely said "I said I would give you more champagne but there is a 2 hour limit on your table and so your time is up" I said two hour limit where was that posted. He walked away. So I looked up on instagram which is where I had found they were doing a Mother's Day brunch and on none of the postings did it ever say there was a two hour limit. This place needs better communication and they need to treat their customers like they used to. Many people are regulars but I just feel like management or something has changed and it's like they are doing us a favor instead of the other way around. I've posted two Instagram photos where on one you can see that I mention about reservations and no where on the flyer or posting does it say there is a two hour limit. Disappointed

AJ T.

Yelp
We are huge fans of this local haunt. It's an amazing piece of restaurant history stuck in a bygone er; you feel like you're walking into the past when you walk into the dining room it's warm and rich, and elegant. We decided to go to Clareman's for dinner the night before our scheduled C-section for our youngest daughter. We've had several great experiences here and look forward to going again !!

Michael L.

Yelp
I tend to frequent the other Clearman's North Woods because they are closer to me but this place offers the Dine LA menu so this is what my review is on. Dined here yesterday for lunch and have to say the service and food here was amazing. Arrived around noon for their lunch offering. Plenty of parking out front and no wait when I arrived. I was seated right away with some patrons already in there. Sure enough 10 or so minutes later, everyone else decided to show up. Place was nice and crowded a few minutes into my meal. Good to see people trying this place out. I was given a regular menu but mentioned I was here for the Dine LA event and they quickly brought the other menus. I was offered both the lunch and dinner Dine LA menu and looking over them I opted to get the dinner version as I wanted their steak and shrimp pairing. The lunch was $35 and dinner $65. My two waiters were always around attending to everyone (one was getting trained) so I was quickly eating my salad and their delicious cheese bread. My dinner portion was enormous. As I had already started off with a caesar salad and cheese bread, a few minutes later my steak arrived on it's own little grill. Table side it was lit on fire and heated nicely. It was placed on my plate along with the shrimp and onion rings. The baked potato was prepared next with a tower of butter being presented and asked when to stop. I had to control myself on this part lol. It comes with all the usual toppings which you can pick and choose. Overall the food was amazing. There is even dessert offered at the end of the meal but I was stuffed after all that. Just couldn't continue lol. I would highly recommend everyone go give them a try for lunch. It is dark in there so it's a perfect date spot too.

Yelp
Always go for the steak potatoe and especially the cheesy bread Onion rings cooked to perfection

Yelp
Before getting our main course, they gave us salad, 3 salad dressing to pick from, and toast. I took it easy and ate the appetizers lightly because I was saving room for the main course and I tend to get full too quickly. I got the Chilean Sea Bass and my mom got the Steak and Lobster. The main course also came with onion rings and a baked potato! It was a lot of filling food like bread, onion rings, and mashed potatoes, more than I expected, the restaurant is really trying to make sure you're full lol. The Chilean Sea Bass itself was okay, it kinda felt like it lacked flavor. However, the steak and lobster was pretty good! The inside of the restaurant is also abit dark, which makes me think it's good for date night

Yelp
Good food/big portions Ok service, was kind of busy the day we went (weekend) Ambiance was nice and quiet... dark/romantic

Yelp
Wow service was top notch. Our server was very knowledgeable, kind and very professional. I think this restaurant is really for special occasions. Birthdays Anniversary because it has just romantic vibes and lighting is deem. Love music in one part of restaurant while they are doing remodeling in the bar. They have old school vibe. Plates are so huge so come hungry. Cheese bread basket was soo delicious and simple cabbage green salad. Most of our table ordered New York steak and I ordered the fried shrimp. So yummy! Choc cake was moist and rich. We all had be rolled out. So delicious and yummy

Yelp
Not one to leave negative feedback at a place of business, but today I must. It was a long wait without reservations, waited an hour (not bad cons it's Father's Day weekend). They sat my party in the back of the restaurant. Waited 30 minutes for water, and drinks. They took our order, the place was HOT, MUSTY, UNCOMFORTABLE. While the rest of the place was nice and air conditioned. The food took an eternity to get there. It wasn't the same quality that it usually is. The salads were old and depressing. Over cooked meats, it just wasn't their night. I don't understand why they would have a sauna for a dining room. Huge let down. Not returning. Not going to over for a bad experience. Cheers.

Yelp
Went here for brunch on a spur of the moment! I have been here a few times in the past and have always had an amazing experience. Staff were nice, no complaints there. I will say though we didn't get much service attention in the first 45 min of our dining experience. They do offer a bottomless mimosa l, so that a plus, but didn't get to fully take advantage of that. The food WAS delicious though. Definitely no complaints there. It does take a little while for your eyes to adjust to the dark inside. But the temperature was comfortable and it had a really nice ambiance. Will still definitely be going back again.

Yelp
This place has always been a win for us. We love the service and cheese bread of course. We enjoy Sunday brunch (bottomless mimosas) is a plus. I even now go with my school mom group and we celebrate all birthdays there. I did have a bad experience last Sunday. Apparently the dessert chef was out so they did not have certain desserts and no waffles. We ordered fried chicken and waffles and didn't find out there were no waffles until they brought the plate. Our breakfast potatoes were also not cooked well they were still raw (big bummer). The server also didn't serve us drinks until like 20 minutes in (I had to ask him for them, usually never happens like that) We ended up leaving and spoke to the manager who did apologize. I just think we had bad luck on that day here and maybe it was too early for them (10 am reservation for brunch) Now you may be asking "will you go back?" I probably will because this is the first time I had bad service. We will probably be taking a break from this place for a bit. We ended up at Dennys afterwards bc we were so hungry-Below are some things to point out: 1. Make reservations - it's better especially if they get busy 2. Maybe don't come at 10am as I feel it may have been too early for them. I felt like they were still opening up even after we were seated 3. It's a steakhouse so it's dark in there so cool vibe 4. Cool new bar area that seems to get busy on weekends and holidays. They just redecorated 5. Great mimosas - different flavors 6. Brunch is always a great deal - prices have increased but still ok All in all I like this establishment but was just super disappointed during my last visit. Buy definitely give it a try ... it's all better then del Rae I think

Yelp
This place is truly a gem. The restaurant is quite comforting with well thought out decor. Combined with great attentive service; makes the experience all the more worth it. To start off my food journey, I had a delicious salad and the must-try calimari. The salad was so refreshing when paired with the red cabbage and vinaigrette while the calimari was super flavorful and crunchy. My main dish was the half broiled chicken with a yummy baked potato and onion rings. Strong opinion, but I think my baked potato was the star of the show. It held so many delicious flavors and I was able to add as many toppings as I wanted. I will be returning to Clearman's it was a savory and memorable meal.

Yelp
I LOVE THIS PLACE! The bartender got on my nerves a little though. We sat at the bar, waiting for our table. The bartender was a nice, old-er gentleman, and he kept teasing me about my drink order. I asked if he could make an amaretto sour from scratch, with egg white! He sort of looked at me sideways, "eggwhites?? You want me to put raw egg?" I was like oh god. One thing I do recommend to the owner of the restaurant is to train the bartenders on preparing higher caliber cocktails. Although I notice most people opt for a martini, beer, or a whiskey mix, or tequila, it would be great to know I have a place o can depend on for a delicious cocktail. Especially given the grandeur and table side service of the delicious dishes, I would love to know cocktails just as good are available to match. I went a second time (different younger man) and ordered a pear martini. It was TERRIBLE!!!!!!!! The vodka tasted like gasoline. The pear flavor was way too syrupy and tasted cheap. I returned the drink and the bartender said, "I haven't had complaints before." Which of course isn't a response I cared to hear. Yes - the bartender services/ drink quality needs work. The food is delicious. I've had ribeye, coconut shrimp, mashed potatoes, baked potato, garlic break, lobster, and it was all delicious. I also loved the blue cheese dressing and dinner salads. (Note: I prefer this place over Dal Rae any day)

Yelp
Do you like dungeons and dragons? Do you like expensive steaks? Then this is the place for you. The sign says no sleeveless shirts on men allowed. Not to worry, most everyone was wearing jeans, hoodies, jerseys, and even sweat pants. But god forbid someone walks in sleeveless. LOL! My wife and I felt overdressed and I was just wearing slacks and button down no tie. Had reservations for 5pm. Wife's work group. Not my choice but played along. We're missing 3 people were told could not sit until all arrive. Can hang out in bar area and have drinks. I'm down with OPD! Yeah you know me!!! Guess what? Stood at the bar. Poor lil old man at the bar could barely get around, waited almost 10 Minutes trying to get some drinks. I just gave up and went back to the group. Money walked away. Finally they said you can sit. But no one can order until full group is here. Can only order drinks and appetizers. Although no one wanted appetizers because we all wanted the charbroiled steak, everyone gave in and we had calamari, scallops, and crab cakes. And they brought mountains of cheese toast to go along the mountains of cubed butter on the table, why? Stayed untouched. Not sure if next group got our butter. Things that make you go hmm We all had 2 drinks by the time the rest arrived. Then we could finally order. Since we were forced to get appetizers, all couples ended up sharing dinners. They graciously split and plated the meals which was nice. I went for 16oz boneless rib eye. Everything else is pre-fixed. So everyone gets a baked potato, onion rings, and salad which consists of literally iceberg snd a few croutons LOL!!!! Once the food was ready, I understood why they want to wait to order. The server gets a little cart with all items thrown on it. Big salad. Baked potatoes, big bowl of onion rings, and the little cute grill with all the steaks on it. She then serves each plate from the little cart. Cute. So L to the A Tell us how good the food was? So 1-5 Drinks: 3, some weak. Some Too strong. Balanced out I guess. LOL APPS: 3.5 overall Calamari: 3, same as any other place, no frills Bacon wrapped Scallops comes with 4: 1 no flavor past that bacon. That some expensive bacon. Crab cakes: 5!!! Yes. And they were just too perfectly rounded. Wondering if they are Store bought frozen and just fried onsite. Like a tootsie pop. The world may never know. But was the best part of the whole Meal including my rib eye. Go figure. MEALS: 3.5 overall Baked potato: 3. Just that a baked potato. No more, no less. Came with cheddar sauce that looked kinda like canned nacho cheese, sour cream, and chopped onions/Chives that were really watery. 3 overall Onion rings: 3 something like between Chilis and Outback onion flower. Just ok. L to the A what about the world famous steak that is cooked to perfection in that charcoal grill!?!?! That's gotta be worth it all, right!?!? Ummm, 16 oz boneless rib eye, 3.5. Flavor tasted like the steak was never seasoned at all not even pepper no salt nothing. So taste was just plain charbroiled beef. Texture, i asked for medium, and it was pretty much well done, maybe because it sat on the little grill flame while the girl served. Overall, I have to say that I've had better steak. In my backyard go figure. Server was cool. 5 stars for her. Cheerful. Bubbly. Attentive. Overall was a 3 star experience. As an experience, we'll scratch it off the list. BEEN THERE. DONE THAT. Carry on!!! But L to the A, are you recommending!?!? Ummm.... If you just want to say you been here, to this Pico staple of a historic monument, then go. If you want a really great expensive steak, go elsewhere. If you just want a great steak buy a good choice cut season it with sea salt snd fresh ground pepper, and grill it in your back yard and top it off with garlic butter. And If you just want to say or brag that you had an expensive steak at a restaurant, and you don't have the highest hopes or expectations for the $$$$ price of an expensive steak then by all means go here.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I attended this 'fine dining' restaurant on a Sunday evening. We arrived at approximately 7:50 PM and were told that we could not be seated and the only seating that was available was at the bar. The restaurant closes at 9 PM. We glanced at the bar and saw that there was plenty of room and decided to sit down. Once seated as the bartender was attempting to take our order a customer rudely kept interrupting her to get refills on his alcoholic beverages. I immediately told the bartender that I'm so sorry for that rude customers behavior however she informed me that he is a local and a friend and he is not offending her. We decided to proceed with our dinner although as the bartender was explaining what was being served, the drunk costumer continued to interrupt in the middle of the dining experience. Ultimately the food was OK however the experience was terrible. The general manager even had to tell this drunk customer to stop cursing. Our entire night was ruined and we were at a loss of almost $300. After requesting the general manager give us a call to discuss our dissatisfaction of them continuing to serve drinks, all he could do is give us a gift card. Ultimately I believe that this was not the "fine dining white tablecloth" restaurant we expected.

Yelp
I love this place been a regular customer for over 20 years. The prime rib is amazing their service is excellent. The new bar is well stocked and you can eat there too Come with and appetite.

Yelp
I love coming here for lunch. I always get the New York steak sandwich with the onion rings. The onion rings remind me of the old TGIF onion rings. The lunch meal comes with all the side dishes too.

Yelp
My family has been going there since I was a kid. Im 69 now. Our all time favorite, but last time I was there the service was bad, and the food was cold. We told the waitress and she took all the food back and it was not fit to eat when she brought it back. I don't know if she threw it in a microwave or what she did. It was my daughter and son in laws anniversary, and it was very disappointing. I complained to the manager and nothing was done. Haven't been back since.

Yelp
Driving down Whittier Blvd and saw Clearman's Steak n Stein it was dinner time so we stopped in. It was an interesting visit. The place was opened in 1961 and the decor reflects it. It is dimly lit there is a fountain in the middle of the section we were seated in looks as if it was a fire pit at one time. The menus are on the sable on a wood stand there is a wonderful selection of things to choose from. It is a very unique experience from the old days. We ordered our food and our salad came out.. Food is served old style table side on a cart by your server home made salad dressing of blue cheese, French, and house dressings are offered the salads are good and the garlic bread is out of this world. Our table was cleared and our meals arrived. Our server brought the cart again a flambe' grill to keep our meats warm Our Baked potato was prepared on the cart table side we had the option of sour cream, Butter , Chives, Cheese Sauce after the potato and heaping pile out onion rings were put on the plate along with our meats i chose the scallops chicken and steak trio. We also ordered the filet and its was servered the same way table side..It was kind of cool seeing table side service of the old days we had never experienced it before. The food was great my scallops were tasty with a butter dipping container the steak was tender and the fried chicken was good. The filet was good too. The desert options was carrot cake cheese cake we passed we were full and could note eat another bite. It was a unique experience and entertaining not having experienced table side service before. It is a dark intimate place inside. Would i come back it is far from where i live but YES i will be back !

Yelp
Very disappointed seeing I thought this place had bomb food. The bread is great. You can't go wrong with the salad and cabbage. I ordered the King Crab legs which for the price of $99 you think you would get a good qty. Not the case. They were like one leg cut in half . They were cold and had to send them back to the kitchen. Onion rings suck. They're not crispy at all. The manager personally handed me the tab and asked if everything was okay. I said no the King Crab legs were cold. Here I thought he was going to comp at least the appetizer but nothing. All he said was "I'm sorry". Guess what I'm sorry too. I'm never coming back here. Rather go Northwoods Inn.

Yelp
Came for my birthday. Sara was our server. She was so sweet and knowledgeable. She recommended the steak and lobster. Its was a great deal! Definitely do the combos. The steak was cooked perfectly and I love their salads. I'll be back!
