Google
Good fellow old school Washingtonian friend of mine suggested a little over 10 years ago that I check this place out.... Finally got to it by chance and everyone was just so nice. They had a great variety/selection of things from gourmet cheese to other international grocery gourmet type items. I'll definitely have to keep coming back.

Google
Super cool neighborhood beer / wine / spirits store with huge selection of well known and hard to find eclectic wines. Even 1 South African USDA organic white Stellar Organics White wine. Great store!!

Google
So this is a small, local wine and spirits store. The wine expert, "Tony the wine guy", is really helpful and really knows his wines there. Well, not only that really, all the products, but really detailed about the wines. They do wine tastings quite a bit. All the staff is really nice and helpful. Give them a try...I highly doubt you'll be disappointed!

I very rarely write reviews, but given the extremely shady business practices displayed today, I will definitely not be giving them my business again. I was looking for inexpensive domestic beer (e.g. Miller lite, Bud light) and the front of the store was only craft beer. I asked the employee if they had Miller/Bud/something similar, and he said no. I then found a stray Coors light 12 pack randomly sitting in the front of the store, which had $14.99 very clearly labeled on it. Spoiler - there's a fridge in the back of the store full of inexpensive domestic beer which he declined to tell me about when asked. Anyways, he manually entered in a price of $20.94, and I asked him about the price discrepancy. He said it was marked incorrectly as $14.99 and that the price on the fridge in the back - which he had just told me doesn't exist - reflects that. Price on the fridge was $14.99 (picture below). I told him that even if it was an error, that is their error, and I should be charged $14.99. He refused to give it to me for $14.99, then begrudgingly let me return it. So, he was caught 1) lying about their inventory to make me buy something more expensive and 2) overcharging me by 40%, and still rudely acted as if I was in the wrong. I hope he isn't the owner because that is not how to treat customers. TLDR; store employee lied to me about their inventory to make me buy something more expensive, then intentionally overcharged me by 40% for my purchase (and was caught by me). Still acted rude as if I was in the wrong.

What a pretty big wine and spirits shop. It was my first time here which is crazy as I have been in this area ALOT! Seemed pretty clean and well organized/ stocked. Staff was friendly and asked of we needed any help. I would def recommend this shop if you live in the area.

Google
I live next to a quite well renowned liquor store near thus place that sells booze by the shopping cart full. When I want personal service, I come to this place. I am always warmly greeted. I'm made to feel like my patronage is appreciated, and they have a marvelous selection of wines and spirits. This shop is old school, in the best meaning of the phrase.

Google
My favorite place to buy wine! Tony is so knowledgable and makes wine perfectly accessible. No judgment - if I'm looking for a cheap bottle, he'll find me one in my price range that I'll love. And if I'm looking for something special, Tony will take the time to find me the right bottle. I always walk out happy, and I always come back for more!

Google
Wow! I've never been to a store that does tastings as often as they do. And it's not just one type of drink. They do wines, beers, whiskey, you name it. The selection is also outstanding. I'm mostly a beer guy. From what I've seen, they get craft brews that are pretty limited in distribution. Their stock rotates, so come back if you want to try something new. The selection of wines and liquors is also pretty wide.

Yelp
Cleveland Park's go to for Wine, Beer & Liquor. I was on my way to dinner & an employee was standing in the doorway inviting people in to try their wine tasting (almost daily)...of course I obliged. Cashiers, Stockers, Manager & the Tasting Host were welcoming & full of insight to share. You can sense the employees take pride in their knowledgeable customer service while giving mini tours on the huge selection & comparable prices.

Yelp
Bought what I thought was a $10 six pack of beer. Ended up paying $20. Not sure why, but typical of local liquor stores price gouging with random credit card, and covid-era fees.

Yelp
Where do I start? Tony, the owner, is one of the nicest, most genuine, helpful business owners I've met. He is typically in the store and eagerly ready to assist you with your purchase in case you need recommendations. He also first asks what price range you are looking to spend, which I greatly appreciated. I have fallen victim to the upsell at other places, but not here. Tony will recommend the best bang for my buck if I'm not looking to spend over a certain amount. On top of that, he has wine, beer, cider, liquor tastings, too! During the pandemic, he's had COVID-19 protocols so everyone feels safe coming into his store. I no longer live in the neighborhood, and it really saddened me that I lost Tony and his store as my neighbor!

Yelp
Great service and fabulous selection. The staff are very friendly and happy to assist with any needs. Stopped in to get my friend a bottle of wine, and I was suggested a great bottle with a gift bag to boot. If you're in Cleveland Park, be sure to stop by!

Yelp
As my partner had just received a substantial raise, we were on the hunt for a celebratory bottle of fancy pants champagne ("champz"), to pair with a pizza from the glorious Vace. First of all, the second I entered on that rainy Friday night, I saw not one but two samplings available! "Samples!!" I shrieked to my partner, nudging him toward a nice man offering pours of whiskey and, oddly, coffee liquor from a Rockville distillery. Afterwards, I headed toward another nice man offering samples of various wines. Satiated and feeling great, I turned my attention to the fridge full of champagnes and whites. My partner grabbed a bottle of Veuve ($60), but one of the store employees immediately pooh-pooh'd his choice, noting that Veuve is totally overrated and owned by a big liquor company and that everyone who knows anything about champagne thinks it's crapola. He then directed us toward several other options, describing their flavors in depth and helping us find a great pairing with our pizza. I appreciated that he didn't try to upsell us and even pointed out toward some cheaper options. The beer selection was good but not great-- and most of the good beers were warm; they have a limited refrigerated section, so minus one star.

Yelp
Hubs and I wandered in here recently to get to know our neighborhood and left with big smiles (believe me, it doesn't escape me that all of my reviews so far for the new place are of liquor stores and bars...womp womp!). They have such an impressive array of international wines--my husband is Australian and we just moved back from 3.5 years in Sydney--they had some of his favorite local beer and yet also a ton of Aussie and Kiwi wines we'd never heard of, despite clearly being winos (see above)! The staff were friendly, helpful and quickly told us about their regular wine tastings, including the special tasting event requiring tickets. They also stock sparkling wines, which is uncommon in the area, and are looking into stocking sparkling reds, which are really unusual to find outside of Australia. My dad loves "weird beer" and I can't wait to bring him here--he's going to be so impressed by the assortment! Definitely go visit if you need a new favorite drink.

Yelp
I am a teetotaler so I don't have much occasion to visit this establishment, but the few times I have, I can tell it is excellent. I have come in looking to pick up wine or beer for friends, and the staff is great at providing thoughtful recommendations. I can tell why people like this business so much, it has a great atmosphere when you walk in. Also, when I was moving and needed boxes, I stopped in and they gave me the boxes that they hadn't broken down. Very appreciative of that as well!

Yelp
One of the only liquor stores in DC to offer a huge selection of wines, top shelf liquors and every beer imaginable. To top it off - the owner and the staff are some of the nicest most knowledgeable people I've met in DC. I've been coming here for almost 5 years and it never disappoints.

Yelp
I used to come here regularly when I lived in Cleveland Park and never had any issues. So when I was back in town for work recently I was eager to stop in and check out their unique offerings of beer. When I got home, however, I noticed that the Australian beer I purchased expired on April 11, 2016. I purchased the beer on December 15, 2019. For those of you keeping track at home, the beer I bought that day expired more than 3.5 years earlier.. Pretty disappointing because I used to love this place.

Yelp
Stopped by to pick up a hostess gift on a Saturday afternoon and this wine shop was so off-putting. I was trying to grab a bottle out of the cold case and these eyes watched me through cracked plexiglas . I tried to ask a question from the women with the eyes and no response .Then I asked what I assumed was her husband at the cash register and he didn't have a clue . So sad what happened to Tony Quinn who brought this place to life in what is now desolate . With excellent choices on Connecticut Ave and a competing store a block away you might try to know something but this place is to be avoided . Hopefully failure happens quickly and new owners can do something with this location which has sold fine wine since prohibition was lifted .

Yelp
It began when I was trying to put together wines for a Georgian dinner and this place had just done a Georgian wine tasting the night before. Its grown from there. Basically I ask Tony about wines from places I didn't know made wine and from grapes that I didn't now existed. It has been many years of exploring saline whites, dry wines made from traditional sweet wine grape varieties, reds from Brazil and Uruguay(!), and whatever. This is a store for explorers. Not everything will be wonderful, but it will be interesting. With the covid plague, I've been calling in orders on Wednesday (Discount!) and often just trust Tony to pick things out with the most general guidance. This is a good place run by good people.

Yelp
Having been on a beer kick recently, I decided to stop by Cleveland Park Liquor and Fine Wines after passing it on the way to trivia last Tuesday. Now initially I went in to check out their selection of Belgians. For the most part, the ones they have here you can probably pick up at any other liquor store in the area, so I wouldn't go just for that. What makes it worth your while to come here is that they have one of the more eclectic beer selections that I've come across in the DC area. Now, if you limit yourself to buying beer at Giant and Safeway, you're probably already aware of the fact that Corona is the only Latin beer out there, and England, Ireland and Germany are the only European beer producers. Fortunately, CP never got that message. I think they have Baltika (a Russian beer) numbers 1 though 148 here, plus a selection of Baltic, Ukrainian and Polish beers. And while I'm not a big microbrew dude (mostly 'cause the bulk of 'em are porters and stouts, and I'm more of a pilsner/lager kinda guy), they have a really good selection here. I don't know if I'd call it your microbrew HQ, but I guarantee you that you'll find something new to try. I only gave the wines a passing glance, but they seemed to have a good variety on offer, and I certainly plan on checking them out in more detail the next time I go (and there WILL be a next time!). The verdict: I can only speak for the beer right now. The selection isn't as diverse as Chevy Chase Wine and Spirits, so if you're looking for an obscure German or Belgian, you might be disappointed. But if you're looking to broaden your beer horizons with samples from all over the world, you'll definitely be happy you came!

Yelp
How many liquor store reviews do you have to write before you decide that you have a problem? Oh well... moving on... Just came home from a great wine tasting event here with oodles of really great wines. Thanks to a heads up from yelper Juliana C! Their selection of great interesting microbrews is matched by an equally well filled out selection of wines and liquors. The guys here really care about their product. The service is great when the place isn't slammed and there's often someone on hand to give you direction. Also, and perhaps most importantly, they have lottery tickets.

Yelp
Two words that ring like heaven to my ears. Booze. Delivery. CP Liquor and WInes is probably the best place to buy your happy juice. And yes, you read that right, they deliver to the DC area for any order over $30. They have a great assortment of wines, beer and liquor, even harder to find still like cachasa for wonderfuly tasty caipirinhas. They host frequent wine and liquor tastings, which are always a nice surprise when I stop by. I am a non-discriminatory drinker, so when in the mood for beer, this place had arguably the best microbrew and import selection in DC. Also, if they don't stock something you want, they generally are pretty good about ordering it for you. Cheers!!!

Yelp
The other night I had a hot woman on my arm (love you Juliana) and was sipping expensive champagne. No, it wasn't a dream, just a quick stop into this place for a sparkling wine tasting. Can you say genius? The set up makes for a bit of a frustrating experience, as the aisles are not made for 10 people to cram around a small table, but the representatives were awesome. The staff seems so knowledgeable and friendly. I have to say that I am not a wine connoisseur by any means. I think in a past review I said that my description of wine is normally either yum, yuck, or meh but I saw a few bottles of things that I like and some that have been mentioned by those who know their stuff. They also have numerous bottles of the anti-beer selections that I love like lambic. The variety will definitely have me popping in here when I need to select a choice for wine tastings, fancy homemade dinners, and Friday nights alone on the couch. What goes better with Dirty Dancing than a recommended Chardonnay and kettle corn?

Yelp
A wine merchant with the name Anthony Quinn? You have to love it -- and you have to love Tony -- biggest sweetheart in the DC wine biz. Tony has quite a selection -- and it is rather eclectic -- he might not have all the hottest wines per Parker or the Spectator (Spectacle more like it) -- these are Tony's selections -- some are swans and others ugly ducklings...regardless, they all have wings -- they do tastings other events as well. Nobody will take care of you like Tony.....I almost always stop in when I am in Cleveland Park -- even if I am not going to buy wine -- just cause I like the shop and talking to Tony. A great neighborhood wine store.

Yelp
I love this place, I have been coming for years. Tony is wonderful. 5% discount if u buy 6 bottles and 10% for a case. They've special ordered for me before when you buy in bulk and there's something specific you want. I think they have to check w the distributor to see if it's possible. Tony travels all over the world meeting the wine makers themselves. I love the fact that there is always a hand selected variety in this shop. No snobbery, pretentious attitude here. Santos handles the beer, he is also a wonder in picking out the good stuff. They are always changing it up and also get some of the lesser known breweries but keep the excellent Belgium beers around hallelujah! This is the best place to stock up which carries something for all budgets. Nice liquor selection as well. Get on the email listing to find out what they will have tastings of which will include everything from port, whites, reds, champagne to beer. Love you guys!!!

Yelp
Highly recommended for finding some really oddball beers without having to make the drive all the way out to a place like Perfect Pour. Beers from Cyprus, Colombia, El Salvador, Argentina, Croatia et al. There is a shelf of single bottles that are mostly Eastern European but also some nice stuff like Firestone Walker Parabola. The majority of the selection is six packs with about 400 different beers. Probably not the best place for super fresh IPAs or serious rarities, but lots of fun to browse and some weird country ticks for anyone interested and in the area. Liquor selection is quite extensive as well with some harder to find bottles. Staff has always been helpful. Glassware selection is limited.

Yelp
I discovered this store a long time ago when killing time before meeting up with friends in Cleveland Park, and I've been hooked ever since. Great selection of wine, beer, and hard liquor, including some hard to find stuff. I got a bottle of cardamon liquor there recently-how awesome is that! Mix a bit with with some whiskey and a bit of sweet vermouth and you've got a great rainy winter day drink. Yeah, that's right, it's currently 8 in the morning, and I'm really excited about drinking this once it hits a reasonable hour! They also regularly have tastings; I think every time I've stopped in they've had something going on. Occasionally they have really huge tastings with multiple tables set up and over 20 wines; those are always dangerous though. The owner is typically in the store and really friendly, and happy to offer suggestions. Part of me wishes this store were in my neighborhood, though my wallet and my liver are both happy it's not.

Yelp
When these guys first decided to offer Sunday hours it seemed awesome. Such a great and welcomed concept. When I visit my friends at Quebec House, I fight them tooth and nail to not go to Weygandt wines which is much closer and much more a viable option. Especially since Weygandt closes at 6PM. Well after a few Sunday's here, it's come down to one of two things, I need to remember to purchase my wine earlier in the week when helpful guys like Tony or Chris are there or Sunday's go to Weygandt. The two gentleman here don't know the ideal food pairings with wine or get irritated when you ask them simple questions about regions and taste preferences. It's one thing to take my money, it's another thing to be annoyed when im simply asking a question or two. I really wish they would hire a weekend sommelier or ask one of the other two to be there for the prices they're charging on products because honestly there's nothing more painful than going to buy wine and having to use your smartphone because the salesman doesn't have a clue. I guess next weekend it's Weygandt for me.

Yelp
If it wasn't obvious from my other recent reviews, I've been going through a "drinking phase." And drinking out at bars gets a little expensive on the typical not-paid-nearly-enough DC salary, so sometimes my "drinking phase" happens at home. Luckily, my home is near this fantastic liquor store. I went in asking about pumpkin beers this week and had them explain to me they had sold out of a lot of their varieties, so they "only" had 15 or so different types. If they know you're serious, they'll bring out things they've been hiding behind the counter, rationing for people who obviously know what they're doing. They even stock some of the more obscure stuff, like the Ransom Gin (aka the Gin of Regret), and can give you a good recommendation for the solution to whatever ails you. I wish I didn't know that they deliver, I may never get out of this phase.

Yelp
This is my local liquor store and I am happy that it is. The people that own and run it are both knowledgeable and extremely nice, but more importantly, they seem to love what they do. The weekly emails they send out are more like blog entries or letters from Mom and Dad, with more of a narrative of their adventures in wine tasting, dealing with distributors, and enough random ALL CAPS SENTENCES that it feels both disjointed and hysterical. More importantly, they have one of the best beer selections in this city (and they know it). One of my favorite brews (Xingu from Brazil) is always in stock, and they always have the newest craft selections from Dogfishhead. They don't have the most obscure Belgians (not like Chevy Chase W&L), but they have such a good global beer selection that I tend to spend more time than I have reading labels and asking questions. I'm thrilled that it is more or less in my backyard.

Yelp
Dear Cleveland Park Liquor & Fine Wines, Where have you been all my life? I've been living in DC now for just a little under a decade and not until this past Saturday did I discover you. You have the widest selection of beer I've seen in this city - micro brews from all over the world in big bottles, little bottles, and everything in between. Your liquor selection is remarkable, and I only got to the half-way point of your store! You have a 23-year old bottle of Old Gran Pappy Van Winkle, housed in a beautifully lacquered wooden box, one of four you special ordered for the holidays. It's $350, but I want it. Damn you for tempting me. Seriously, I wish this place would open a sister store downtown and give Central Liquors a run for its money - guarantee it wouldn't be hard to do... either that, or I need to move to Cleveland Park to make this my local beer n' booze paradise.

Yelp
This is my go to place when I lived here and when I come back to visit. Why? Because Tony is right on the money for his description of a wine which helps me shop. Nothing snooty about this place. My friends who do frequent those type of establishments are surprised to hear that I come here for all of my wine. I tell them I can do with less attitude in my life when it comes to shopping for wine. There are a number of places with "tude" about their shop when you try to buy a bottle of wine. Anyhow, Tony manages to bring in excellent wine makers of the wine he sells. Very impressive. Some of the best wine I've had outside a vineyard is from this shop. I also like how Tony travels out to the regions himself to find the wines he wants to sell. Seriously, who does that!!!! i love this place. oh yes and they deliver for free!!!

Yelp
Only docking a star because the website is impossible. They don't seem to post the big tasting events on their calendar and sometimes you just have to hunt way too long on their website for information. Frustrating. Ok, that aside, the place is gold. Steps from the Cleveland Park metro--go out the right exit. Tony, the main wine buyer I believe, is fantastic--chatty, knowledgeable, and eager to help. He's also got a great sense of humor, helpful when dealing with a store full of merry people due to: AMAZING big wine tastings. Seems like every month, usually on a Wednesday, they'll do a themed wine tasting. Go early. Go often. The aisles get crowded so head toward the back first to avoid the throng at the front. The sparkling wine tasting was epic. The next one on 8/18/10 will be Greek wines and rosés. Rumor has it there's a sake tasting coming up. Six or seven suppliers show up each time with several wines each so there's tons to sample. And the tastings are delightfully free. There's a discount if you buy one of the wines from the tasting that night. In general, they have a great selection of wines, good selection of liquors, and lots of harder to find beers as well. If they don't have something, they're happy to order it in for you.
google avatar

Josie R.

Yelp
I love this shop! While the shop itself is small, the selections are diverse and interesting. I never leave without a new wine to try! Tony, the owner, really loves his customers and welcomes dogs in his shop (which I love)! The shop also has frequent wine tastings, which are always fun!

Yelp
Great place to hang out with friends. Good food selection and has a nice upstairs deck area.
google avatar

Steve S.

Yelp
As its name indicates, this is a neighborhood place, and probably shouldn't be compared to larger place like MacArthur or Calvert Woodley. Used to live a few blocks up Conn Ave, and found this place to be delightfully unpretentious and down to earth. Not afraid to carry wines from off the beaten path. As Tony used to say, 95% of wines don't get reviewed, they can't all suck. Not only did they have free tastings in store, for a nominal fee they used to put together tastings in the lobby of our condo building.
google avatar

Stephanie S.

Yelp
Despite the name of the store, they have an amazing selection of craft beer. It's such a tiny store that I thought I would be lucky to find Dogfish instead of Budweiser, but I was very pleasantly surprised. If this was my neighborhood liquor store I would be tempted to get one of those grocery carts that I would normally be too embarrassed to truck around. It's a no-frills store and it's a little messy and disorganized - there are a lot of beers waiting in boxes on the floor - but I won't hold that against them since it means they have so many excellent craft beers to choose from.
google avatar

Jessica B.

Yelp
Yep, I'm reviewing a liquor store, but there's a reason for that. First - the owner, Tony, has to be one of the most friendly and informed shop owners (or employees for that matter) that I've met in my life. He's always got great recommendations and doesn't pressure you to buy anything out of your range. In fact, it's one of the only places I feel comfortable asking for a bottle of wine in the 10-15 range because Tony and his staff never treat you like you're second rate for not wanting to spend next week's rent on a single bottle of wine - especially one you've never tried or that you're just giving to someone at a birthday party. The store is clean, well-organized, and has a great selection. If you're in the area and shopping for wine (or beer from what I gather from other reviews), this is the place to go.
google avatar

Stephanie M.

Yelp
Best wine and spirits store in DC, without question. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, prices are reasonable and the selection is great! If you are not in Cleveland Park, it's worth the journey!
google avatar

Jaemie D.

Yelp
They say "Don't judge a book by it's cover", but certainly judge your local liquor store by the labels they carry. I have recently been expanding my palate beyond beer and wine to the finer spirits. Each time I try something new that I like, I go and test whether CP Liquor and Wines sells it- and I have yet to be dissapointed. When I was tasting rums, I was in search for a Nicaraguan rum, Flor de Cana- which they had several to choose from which was a nice surprise. But I was happily surprised to find one of my favorite Bourbons; a Basil Hayden stocked! Hmmm.. two for two, and I can't wait to see what else they will surprise me with!
google avatar

MJ R.

Yelp
oh my god they are so nice here and SO ENTHUSIASTIC about the products they carry. The other week, my mom and I went in there looking for a "dry rose" and walked out with like five bottles between the two of us because they made them all sound so good (they were). Prices are reasonable too, and they almost always have some tasting. Also into the feminist manifestoes they were posting on the front window for a while
google avatar

Yelp
Great place to stop in for a bottle or a sixer - a decent selection of things pre chilled which is always handy for last minute needs! I've spoken with a couple of the staff there and they are really helpful in finding something no matter how little or how much you have to spend. Really knowledgeable, and I enjoy the tastings as well. 10% off bottles over $20 on Wednesday evenings! Good time to splurge on that special something you've had your eye on. So glad this place is part of my neighborhood!

Yelp
I wanted to send a colleague the gift of liquor for the holidays. My long phone conversation with CPLFW went like this: "It is a gift." "You want it to be a gift?" "Yes, a gift." "Hold on." (long pause, I am transferred to another guy) "It's gonna be a while if we have to go out and buy a gift card." "You don't have a card to write the recipient's name on?" "Oh, I thought you meant like a gift card for another store. Yeah, we can write his name on it. Hold on." (more pausing and transferring). On the upside, the bottle did arrive intact and shortly after I ordered it, for a good price. You may have better luck visiting in person
google avatar

Yelp
Update: They also have Carpano Antica, a good selection of bitters, and some great beers -- all of which can be hard to find in your average neighborhood store. Now if only they carried the smaller bottle of Carpano...

Yelp
The bottom line: Stop in for wonderful tastings, meet the knowledgeable and friendly staff, and pick up something unique for home. I'm happy to have CP Liquor & Wines as my local liquor store. Tony, Mike, Santos and the staff are extremely friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating. For example, I've mentioned that I was looking for a certain beer (Flying Dog Double Dog) and a few days later, it showed up at the store. I've asked about wine pairings (they suggested a delicious dolcetto for my grilled romaine salad) and gotten great advice. Of course, you can't go wrong with free wine/beer/liquor tastings. I believe 2-3 times a week you can stop in to meet winemakers and various vendors. As noted by other yelpers, they also have a great email list. Although many of the wines they carry are a bit on the pricey side, they always have on-hand (and are more than happy to recommend) some delicious cheaper ($6-12) bottles. Beer and liquor prices can be a bit higher than other places but to support the local independent and their friendly valuable knowledge base...I highly recommend CP Liquor & Fine Wines.

Yelp
Customer service here can't be beat -- Tony (the owner) really sets the tone here, and makes it a point to check in with each customer. He remembers what kinds of wine you prefer, never tries to up-sell you, and even remembered to ask me about a bottle of wine he had helped me pick out for a special occasion :) If you need booze (or lotto tickets!), this is your place!!

Yelp
Stopped into Cleveland Park Liquor & Wine yesterday and boy was I impressed! This is a great store with an AMAZING selection of liquor, wine and beer. They have a very friendly staff and are very helpful and full of great recommendations. Customer Service is the name of the game and their entire staff is dedicated to ensuring customers find exactly what they want! Tony "The Wine Guy" was extremely helpful, and incredibly knowledgeable of all things wine, near and far, popular and niche. He knows their products up and down and is very happy to spend his time with customers, ensuring they find exactly what they want, even if the customer may not know what they are looking for! Tell him what type of wine you are looking for and before you know it Tony will have a list of recommendations for you! In addition to all the well known producers, they also carry extremely hard to find wines, including a very hard to fine sparkling wine from Ulupalaku Ranch in Maui. They have an extensive selection of great Virginia wines as well! In conclusion - Great selection, very friendly and helpful staff, two thumbs up!

Yelp
Grumpy men; I found a poor selection of wines but a varied and interesting selection of beers. They need staff who "like" helping customers. Your review helps others learn about great local businesses. Please don't review this business if you received a freebie for writing this review, or if you're connected in any way to the owner or employees.

Yelp
Solid beer, wine, and spirits selection. They've got your east coast microbrews well covered. Get your pizza at Vace down the street, trundle up here and pick out a six pack. Your evening meal is complete.

Yelp
I used to live two minutes walking from CP Liquor and Wines. In fact, it is probably the thing I miss the most about leaving Cleveland Park (yes, even more than Vace- blasphemy!). There are four guys that run it: one for beer, one for liquor, and two for wine. Tony is by far the super star of the bunch. He will talk your ear off and invite you to all of the upcoming tastings (which are always numerous). Also, if you get the chance, you should sign up for Tony's email updates. They are hysterical, include lengthy poems about summer days and Chilean whites, and LOTS OF CAPS LOCK.

Yelp
For being such a big space, this place doesn't have that great of a selection. I was surprised they didn't have more cheaper options and whites chilled in their fridge. When I asked for some recommendations, I felt like I was be a nuisance to the guy working there.

Yelp
Nice selection of beers, but the refrigerated section didn't have very many good beers in it, and there were literally no sales - not many microbrews were cheaper than 9.99. Still, the selection is good enough to warrant 4 stars.

Yelp
I love this store. Tony, the owner, is THE wine expert. Tell him what you are looking for and he will find it for you. The store has a really great close knit, neighborhood feel because Tony takes the time to get to know his customers. All of the staff members are super friendly and always willing to help. Great selection, really clean store, definitely stop in!

Yelp
Our go-to place for wine, beer, liquor - and even just a fun chitchat. This is a really fabulous liquor store - Tony is an excellent guide to wines. We usually go in and describe what we want, sometimes in detail, sometime just with the words "cheap, good, dry" or whatever, and Tony always has a good recommendation. The wine tastings have become legendary among our friends - best ones in DC, I'd venture to say. And Santos and Ravi are knowledgable and funny expert guides to the beers and liquors. This place is a treasure.

Yelp
Friendly, appreciate your business. Stay open late on Holidays instead of closing a few minutes early and cussing out potential customers like Chevy Chase Liquors. Here is the story of CC liquors. I drove up on Thanksgiving. Saw the "OPEN" sign was on and parked in the back and walked directly to the back door. There was a man standing by the door looking down at his phone texting away. Before I could reach the handle he said something in a gruff voice that sounded like "they closed". I had no idea who this guy was and I said "Well the open sign is on and there are customers in the line." then he practically yelled at me "They closed SIR!!" They closed at 4 clock!!" Still looking at his phone. I looked t my watch and it was maybe 4pm, maybe a hair before. So I asked this guy "Do you work here?" and he said "Yes I do SIR!!" to which I replied as civilly as I could considering this ass thinks that screaming SIR at people is being anything close to polite "I can see why you take it so personally then." I walked away but on impulse turned around and asked him "So this store seriously doesn't want another $100 in business from a customer who may or may not have arrived 15 seconds late?" Then this guy started screaming and cussing at me at the top of his lungs. "You go off on me!!" blah, blah, blah "I dont make the fu$cking rules blah blah blah". Top of his lungs on Thanksgiving at a customer. I went to Cleveland Park Liquors and spent $150...those guys are cool. I will never spend another dime there and I doubt any of my family will either and for some reason we USED to go there a lot. So in conclusion...I went to CP and spent a lot of money. They were open and friendly and had a great selection.
