The 10 Best Restaurants In Scottsdale, Arizona - Scottsdale - The Infatuation

"Clever is a counter-service spot where you can take a break from formatting spreadsheets and grab food before sending afternoon emails. Midday usually has a line out the door, so get here before 12pm, opt for a late meal, or order ahead to skip the queue. The space is our idea of an adult treehouse, with green ferns hanging from the ceiling and curvy wood paneling. You’ll be happy with the spicy karaage chicken bao or rich pork belly ramen, and their fries with kimchi and cheddar cheese sauce are great—they might make you want to nap after demolishing, but who gets any work done after lunch anyway?" - Lauren Topor

First time coming here and it wasn't too bad. We both had the pork ramen and shared a bao bun trio. The ramen was packed with flavor and the bao buns were also good. The only complaint would be the pork in the bao bun was quite dry and they tried to compensate for that with a lot of sauce. Other than that, we had a good first experience and would come back if we find ourselves in the area again.

My friends and I loved this place. I got the gluten free, rice noodle, with vegan dashi and scallions, chili oil, grilled tofu, corn, and bean sprouts. My friends both got chicken + reg. Ramen noodles. We got some bao buns, kimchi bao was yummy but had a bit too much sauce.

Google
Loved the concept, but was underwhelmed by the execution. Spicy chicken broth was NOT spicy, crispy pork was NOT crispy, and the "fluffy" steamed buns were tough and chewy. However, the location is very nice - super Instagrammable, and the pork broth, ramen noodles themselves and mushrooms were bomb. All in all not worth $45 for 2 bowls of ramen, a box of 3 buns, and 2 drinks, but would be willing to try again to see if this was just a slightly off experience.

Came in for lunch. Great food and customer service. The ramen is definitely worth trying since you can build your own

Google
I ordered the vegan ramen and kimchi cauliflower buns. Both were delicious. I was impressed with the detail and care taken with the ramen dish. The bok choy and tofu was cooked separately so it had nice browning. The bean sprouts added a wonderful crunch to the dish. The broth itself was flavorful. It’s not easy to get vegan ramen to taste better than boiled watery health food. I felt satisfied. It did cost $20 for the ramen and one bun. But they earned it. I’ll be back to try the chicken one next.

What an amazing experience. Love the decor, atmosphere and the option to sit outside. I ordered the lemon pepper chicken ramen and added additional toppings such as bok choy, carrots and mushrooms. We shared the French fries as an appetizer and it was delicious 😋. The steam buns are amazing. We tried the pork and the chicken buns. Wow! Tons of partying in the mouth for all the food ordered. It's a must try and enjoy the atmosphere.

Google
I got the Pork Chasu Ramen and the Pork buns. The pork in both was very crispy and soft at the same time, the noodles were a medium hardness which was perfect. Normally I don't like mushrooms, but the flavor of the broth made them incredible! The service was good, we got our food not long after we ordered. 4.5 of 5

Google
Might just be my new favorite ramen spot!!! I got the Vegan ramen (and I never order Vegan) and it is firrrrreeee. Came around 4pm it was pretty quiet, worked outside and brought me a cute disposable packaged utensil set! Tea is great. I got the Spicy Bomb in my ramen and woooooooooooooo bring on the HEAT! Definitely coming back to try everything else.

Yelp
I was visiting friends on a girls trip. Decided to order from this place. I had obtained the spicy kimchi. It was bland and a bit watery. The noodles were cooked really well but out side of that, it was just average and okay. I'm giving it a 3 star because after a long day in the pool with alcohol, it did what I needed it to do. Next time I'm in that area, I will order again and hope this was just a one off.

Yelp
This is the most unique ramen spot I've been to. You can choose from pre-selected ramen options or create your own from scratch!! Whatever ingredients, noodles, broth, and spices you'd like. They also have Bao bun options as well as rice bowls. There's plenty of seating on the inside but the patio is my favorite. Surrounded by all of nature with the beautiful plants and cute dim lighting in the evening. The service was very efficient and the food came out really fast which was shocking. It was very fresh!!! Highly recommend for those with special warring lifestyles(vegan, vegetarian, gluten free)

Yelp
I tried out this place during a work lunch. I ordered the bao bun combo including three baos with all different flavors, a side fries, and a fountain drink. The baos were very flavorful and tasty. The fries were crispy and the kimchi ailoi was a nice touch as well. Although I wouldn't call this an authentic Japanese/Chinese restaurant, I liked how they modernized Asian cuisines to meet the fast-paced needs of current customers. I would come back again when I crave for Asian food during lunch at work!

Yelp
You would be KRAZY if you don't come and try their Krazy fries!!! The fries are cooked to absolute perfection giving you the perfect crunch and seasoned taste with every bite. The crispy pork belly scallions and sauces then come in and steal the show! I was literally dancing in my seat with every bite! My colleagues had the ramen and said it was fresh hot and tasty! Definitely will be back!

Yelp
The aesthetic of this place is so open, airy, and full of natural light. There is a lot of seating both inside and on their patio. I loved the plants hanging from the ceiling and walls with the cool curves of the natural wood art. The menu was pretty easy to choose from and they had a build your own which of course I loved! The broth was hot and the noodles weren't soggy or over cooked! I would love to come back and try different flavors and new combinations from the build our own and their bao buns.

Yelp
Absolutely love the vibe in here! Great decor, great ambience, super modern. The ramen was decent but nothing special. I loved the to-go packaging because they separated the broth from the noodles and toppings. I ordered online through yelp and my order took 40 minutes until I was notified to pickup. Not sure if it always takes that long but I would love to dine in just to see if there is a difference. There is lots of parking and seating inside and out. Will definitely come back to try again
google avatar

Elaine Q.

Yelp
Excellent atmosphere, food and menu selection. I'd recommend the combos. Try any of the chewy ramen noodles and soup. Love the build your own ramen concept. Easy parking.

Yelp
I was craving spicy chicken broth ramen and this hit the spot! If you order online, be ready to pick up your order within 25 minutes because they're fast! Their patio is lovely and peaceful. The customer service was very friendly. To-go packaging was literally perfect! I would request utensils so you can enjoy the noodles and broth and not have to do dishes at home! :) I never thought about pairing ramen with fries but their seasoned fries served with gochujang aioli was so good! Oh! And their lemonade was so refreshing! We will definitely be frequent guests here :)

Yelp
We were really looking forward to dining in at Clever Ramen since our previous take out experience about a year ago was very good, but we were somewhat disappointed with our experience. We arrived at around 5:30ish, Friday night. We were worried we might not find a place to sit, but to our surprise, the restaurant was empty, inside and out with only 1-2 occupied tables. At around 6, we were completely alone! My husband and I ordered the chicken miso ramen with all the toppings and 3 buns, two chicken and one cauliflower and one drink, all came out to $41 before tip. The food was hot and fresh. The buns were pretty good, but the Ramen lacked so much flavor, we kept trying to add sauces to it to make it taste better. The broth was just flat. I added soy sauce and some spicy sauce, still not that great. Also the tomato confit I think did not go very well with the dish. Service was friendly by some, but not everyone there. The decor is beautiful and the restaurant is pretty clean, but they must do something about the fruit flies. They were so annoying, and no matter what we did, they kept coming back, one even ended up inside my ramen, but I just took it out and didn't ask for my food to be replaced. I don't know if we had very high expectations hence the disappointment but we anticipated a much better experience based on our previous time as well as our great experience at Clever Koi many years ago. I hope there will be some improvements so more people will show up to dinner on Friday night!

Yelp
Nice surprise! New favorite. Delicious food and fast. It is like the Pei Wei to PF changs. Smaller version of favorites from the Clever Koi set up and serves like Chipotle. Will definitely be back.

Yelp
Met up with the kids for my bday dinner, and I had been craving ramen and my daughter suggested giving Clever Ramen a try. After checking out the menu I went with the spicy kimchi ramen, it came with chicken thigh, soft egg, kimchi, bean sprouts, spicy and scallions. I am not a fan of dark chicken meat and did pay the upgrade price to add chicken breast instead of the thigh. When my meal came out, I did not have any chicken breast, but a bowl loaded with dark meat. I tried to eat around it; the broth had a good flavor but over all the meal was ruined for me. Clever Ramen is set up like a fast-food ramen bar, but on this day service was slow. The meal didn't wow me, which bummed me out because I do enjoy the Clever Koi.

Yelp
Like their other endeavor, Clever Koi, this place is sharply decorated and run well. The food was really good. I have been here 3 or 4 times over the last year, and it hits every time. I really love their to-go packaging. They keep the broth separate from the ingredients and noodles, smart. Their pork belly is outrageous; crispy and chewing and flavorful, and melt in your mouth goodness. Not overly salty, the broth is beautifully seasoned and mild. I had the chicken miso, I have tried the pork broth as well, and it is really good as well. The noodles are perfectly firm and not mushy, and the portion size is very generous. Their Krazy fries are crazy good, a lil spice and lots of crispy pork bits added, so good. Steam buns are great too, tried the hot chicken and pork belly; great combination of soft and chewy and crispy and savory. I have tried a few Ramen places across the valley, this is definitely my favorite. Also, if you are a picky eater, you might really like the option to build your own ramen bowl. Really consistent, and you get what you pay for... good quality hearty food. Will definitely keep going back. I forgot to take pics of the ramen I was too excited to eat it!! Next time. :) This place absolutely deserves a higher rating, check it out for yourself.

Yelp
Probably the worst ramen I've ever had. Bottom 2 for sure. Ordered the pork ramen and the soup was lukewarm and sour. The soup was so lukewarm it tasted like a petri bowl for bacteria and I honestly think that's why mine was sour. My bf got the same thing and I tried his and his wasn't sour so I think I got the last of the pot? Anyways, I asked it to be heated up and was told it can't be otherwise the oils would mix too much and ruin the food....................................................... I got the hot broth and it was such an assault on my taste buds (just the bad tasting soup but hot) still I immediately returned the ramen on the spot and asked for a refund. The cashier complied and I was forgo a post this until I realized I never actually received my refund. For anyone wanting real ramen, I'd recommend Nishikawa or a hole-in-the-wall Ramen Dozo Ps: the buns tasted like it was frozen then heated up slime
google avatar

Cynthia B.

Yelp
Cute decor! Service was okay. The food was not good. I wouldn't go back. I was just really expecting this place to be very tasty with a name of Clever Ramen!
google avatar

Josie Q.

Yelp
Top tier food pairings and top tier environment. The buns are a MUST try. Unexpectedly my favorite was the spicy cauliflower and apple. Starting off with these buns gives you true perspective on just how curated this menu is. The chefs behind clever ramen have taken a modern twist on the classic dish by adding tomato's to the bowl. I like tomatoes but if you are looking for something traditional, this might not hit the spot. I had a chicken miso ramen. Usually I go for pork so I didn't know what to expect. The chicken was crispy! So good. While I wouldn't travel across town just to visit the spot, I will be back. Great for working tons and tons of tables. I went near 6 pm on a Tuesday, it was pretty open seating.

Yelp
Clever Ramen has the cutest dining area. Their ramen is really great if your looking for something quick or love steamed buns. I personally enjoy their lemon chicken ramen and pork steamed buns. They offer to-go and staff is always friendly.
google avatar

Lei G.

Yelp
DoorDash delivery. The Chicken & pork belly buns were tasty. The to-go packaging Miso ramen was well thought out & kept the noodles from getting soggy. Small menu but food was delicious.
google avatar

Wendy M.

Yelp
This photo definitely doesn't do this place justice. I would definitely give Clever a try if you're in Scottsdale. Broth is very flavorful and meat was cooked perfectly. I got a pork ramen and it definitely did not disappoint. Prices are a little expensive but I would assume it's because it's close to Scottsdale. Wish it was a bit cheaper but overall left very satisfied! (Ramen Bowls range from $16 - $19)

Yelp
One of my new favorites!! Good food, awesome staff, and customer service. Can't wait for our next date night -

Yelp
I had a great time here! I brought my inlaws who were in town. I was really glad to see they had a vegan option on the menu. Their outdoor patio was so cute, and really had a lot of seating! It was cute to sit next to some dogs out there. The Cauliflower buns are SO good, don't miss out on those. Overall would really recommend.

Yelp
Clever Ramen is a sort of fast/food ramen restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating in the ASU campus area of Scottsdale. They offer pre-built ramen bowls, build your own ramen bowls, a variety of fries, extras, and steamed buns. They offer soft beverages and sake cups, canned beer and canned wine. Some things today where much better than other things today. The best things that we tried today were the spicy chicken shoyo with confit chicken thigh ramen and the Korean hot chicken steamed bun. The confit chicken and broth were good and developed with flavors. The Korean hot chicken steamed bun today wasn't spicy but it was tasty and delicious. I'm not sure if the amount of gochujang was either too scant or if they used a non-Korean brand brand that taste isn't as flavorful? The things that weren't as good were anything crispy pork belly, the pork broth, the noodles and the soy egg. The pork belly today in the ramen and steamed bun was mushy and chewy. Thee pork broth was weak today. The. noodles might have been over cooked and are not the quality chewy noodles that you get in ramen shops. The soy egg was ok but would be so much better if mirin was added to it's recipe. The atmosphere is modern, clean, and attractive. The people working there were friendly, helpful, and efficient. Parking is easy because they have their own parking lot.
google avatar

Ryan L.

Yelp
If you want fast and decently customizable ramen I'd say this might be a good spot for you. I don't think I'm in love with the atmosphere that mixes ramen, modern design, and fast food... but.. the ramen and buns are pretty good and I applaud them for making ramen feel very accessible. I also enjoy their variety of beers and drinks. Overall, I did enjoy the food, but I prefer their flagship or sit in restaurants more even when considering their price points if you're using Clever Koi as a reference point.
google avatar

Alex L.

Yelp
Tbh the main thing that brought my attention to visit was the interior. The parametric wall is really cool. I will also be honest and say after multiple times of eating at their sister restaurant, Clever Koi. I was never really much of a fan of their ramen even after trying many times and with different locations. I will say that I enjoyed their tonkotsu along with the pork and chicken bao. As expected their BAOS were the same served at Clever Koi and they were not bad. Pork was a little dry and chewy but it was good. The gochujang with the chicken bao was quite odd. Not sure if there was additional vinegar added to the sauce but it was ok...lol. For the tonkotsu, I did enjoy it! Much better experience in the past and It's pretty good! I'll probably try to build your own ramen choice next time. Again, the interior is the main reason of visiting lmao
google avatar

Yelp
Saw the low reviews but honestly this place isn't that bad. Super modern and spacious with a good selection of music and architecture on the walls is super interesting & the hanging plants (even though fake) give it a good vibe. Got the pork ramen and the hot buns (pork and hot chicken) As for the buns, the pork one was legit but the hot chicken wasn't so hot lol (temperature wise) interesting and nice taste on the sweet cucumbers as well The ramen was alright. Broth wasn't too impressive, but still above average for a place like this. Meat had a nice taste and the crisp texture was pleasurable. Al-dente noodles was a nice surprise, and they nailed the egg. Although they do skimp you on the portion size. Overall, I would come again (just for the pork bun tbh) if I'm in there area. It is a little pricy (but it's Scottsdale) but definitely one of the better ramen spots in the Scottsdale area
google avatar

Ben H.

Yelp
There were about 75 people waiting in line outside of Clever Ramen at 730 on Saturday night. I thought they were giving something away. It turns out everyone was just excited about Clever Ramen opening up at Sky song. Although the concept at Clever Ramen is different from the Clever Koi, the difference in quality of ramen is noticeable. I usually leave Clever Ramen with a stomach full of noodles and tender crispy pork belly. I left Clever Ramen with half of my ramen to go. Enough said
google avatar

Ann T.

Yelp
My first time but not my last! A bright and lively location with friendly service AND yummy food. Yes please and thank you! I ordered the pre built pork ramen (minus scallions). Don't worry. Prebuilt doesn't mean it's been sitting around under heat on. The whole is prepared fresh and are the ingredients are delightful. Next time I will venture out and build my own broth. Mostly because I love the broth. I probably could do half the noodles and twice the broth because it's so delicious. Ya gotta try this place!

Ahmed K.

Yelp
There's very few good ramen places in the area. And this is one of them! Service is nice and well timed
google avatar

Katie M.

Yelp
I wish I could give more stars but the simple fact that there's only one dish that's gluten-free and a half to be vegan like why!!!!!! Just because we're gluten-free doesn't mean we're also vegan we like meat... I just honestly wish there was more options like even side dishes maybe your french fries be gluten-free or some thing just not one single dish on your menu. People that are gluten-free we enjoy Ramen. We enjoy just like the next person .
google avatar

Pam H.

Yelp
Not great but very lovely inside. Cool interior design. My son loves the food but I am not a fan. Had Vegan Ramen and wouldn't order it again.
google avatar

Robbin M.

Yelp
The vegan broth was tasty and this place is clean and super cute. Lots of space for friends or to hangout. Food came quick. My only problem is for $16 don't be cheap. Ordered a build your own and added lots of veggies to which they hardly gave me any. Veggies are cheap guys. Don't be that way. You're already making a killing on noodles and broth. I'll probably try again another day but right now it was just alright. Probably 3 1/2 stars if I could but definitely not 4
google avatar

Maria L.

Yelp
Place is so nice decorated! The hanging plants are absolutely beautiful! And the food so good! The Krazy fries, the steamed buns and the ramen were delicious! And the guy who took our order was really nice and smiled throughout the whole interaction. Great service! Also important to mention how clean and they are! Good comfort food and a nice place to just sit and relax.
google avatar

Yelp
I was so impressed with everything I tried. The buns ramen and fries were just so delicious. Definitely will be visiting every time I'm in the Scottsdale area. Such a craving!
google avatar

Lisa S.

Yelp
Always delicious .. we loved our pork ramen and buns ..our to go order was perfect and they were fast and efficient.

Carolyn L.

Yelp
Cancel your dinner plans and go to Clever Ramen. My biggest disappointment is I live in California and I won't be able to get this when I go home. I had the gluten-free noodles and vegan soup broth, bulgolgi beef, mushrooms & bok choy. It was amazing. Imagine how good it might at be if you can it regular ramen noodles. I wish there were more stars to give. What are you waiting for? Go!
google avatar

Yelp
I want to make sure this place gets my 5 star review. I've been a fan of Clever Koi, so I wanted to give Clever Ramen a go. This was one of the best ramens in my life--probably because I made it myself. Ok, if you haven't ordered ramen before and don't know what you like or what complements what, it might not be for you. However, I do know what I like (mushroom-y, spicy vegan ramen) and so this was a huge hit with me. If you need a basic idea: ramen/vegan noodles, vegan broth, soft egg, mushrooms, bok choy, kimchi, scallions and the spice bomb. Simple but expertly cooked. Furthermore, the kimchi fries are where it's at and I only want to eat kimchi on my fries forever more. I didn't try the bao buns, but my sister did. She said they were good but must be hot to enjoy fully. The place itself is ok. There a couple other restaurants nearby (it's a weird standalone marketplace) but there's a lot of indoor or outdoor seating. It's also in a pretty nice part of Scottsdale. It's very playful and happy in energy and I dug it. The atmosphere is very different compared to Clever Koi--like it's it's younger sister. The service was also phenomenal. If you ask nicely, you can try the different broths to see which you like the most. TLDR; best ramen place if you know what to order or like experimenting with food. Not for the noobs.
google avatar

Skyler P.

Yelp
Back again to get some delicious ramen! Came here during their soft opening and have been back a few times now. If you're looking for some great ramen, this is a good to spot you have to try! Big portions and great flavors. You definitely need to try the buns too! I got the pork belly ones and they were so good!
google avatar

Kenny M.

Yelp
Great place for some good ramen abit expensive but hey that's what happens with I inflation.. Ramen could a little more softer but it was just fine. Pork ribs were perfect liked the soft egg. Sauce was ok but still good. Steamed pork buns were bomb, you may want to eat those first, but still a soft bun. With the pork, hoisin sauce Definitely a good place togo if your in the Scottsdale area for Ramen.
google avatar

Brittany S.

Yelp
HOLY SMOKES the portion sizes are HUGE- I suppose it makes sense for the price. Definitely not your average Mom & Pop Ramen shop. I ordered delivered - got a "build your own bowl", PRO TIP - ask for light garlic if you want it. A regular topping of it is WAY TOO MUCH!
google avatar

Kyle P.

Yelp
This is my third time eating here and I've just tried giving it chances because the hot chicken bun were decent . But today was just bad . Got the dashi broth ( vegan) which I guess they assumed that I wanted vegan noodles ... . Simply put and a lot agree the broth just falls flat it has 0 flavor . Even after adding garlic , scallions , shallots a spicy bomb .... Still nothing and I've even had the spicy chicken broth and just falls flat :/. They give a decent amount of noodles and the soy egg is good . The buns today were terrible ice cold and weird chewy pieces of chicken. Won't be back .

Jesie P.

Yelp
So the first time I had came here I did a build your own bowl and wasn't impressed. However, the company reached out and I ended up giving it another try - I got the pork ramen, w/kimchee and spice bomb , my husband got the spicy kimchee bowl, and they were both delicious, & the fry's there are super good. We've been back multiple times since and glad we gave it another try since it's just right down the street from our house 10/10 service. They have indoor and outdoor seating & high chairs for those w/ babies thank you!
google avatar

Kaelyn G.

Yelp
A new local favorite! While Clever Koi may be our go to date night spot, Clever Ramen is now our new go to weekday dinner spot. The ramen was good, but the bao buns and fries were even better. I already knew the bao buns were amazing, but I was not expecting the fries to be some of the best I've ever had. They were fried and seasoned to perfection. The interior was very aesthetic and the customer service was good. I can't wait to go back!
google avatar

Candice H.

Yelp
First visit and I loved this place!!! The service was exceptional, they were super helpful in helping pick out the right order and very kind! The spicey kimchi was delicious, noodles soft and great flavor. Great ambiance as well! Come check it out

Allie L.

Yelp
Delicious food! The pork ramen was impressive and affordable. The crispy spicy Korean chicken bun was great! Our new favorite ramen spot!

Meily A.

Yelp
We visited last weekend and this place was absolutely packed. The line was very long but we were really hungry and didn't mind the wait. The restaurant is pretty spacious with both indoor and outdoor seating. I got the pork ramen which I thought was okay. You can also build your own with the ingredients of your liking. Oddly enough I liked the buns more than the buns at clever koi even though they sound exactly the same. I like the location and overall vibe of the place but I would probably explore other ramen places before coming back.

Kierstyn W.

Yelp
Super pricey and took FOREVER. Also saw them microwave my ramen. Very unsatisfied, didn't give spoons to sip broth. Do not come here. Very business lunch spot.
google avatar

Zoe L.

Yelp
This is my second time here and it is delicious everytime! My son absolutely loves the tacos.
google avatar

Caroline T.

Yelp
I've lived around the corner from this place and never went because of the reviews not being that great. After finally trying it, I DONT KNOW WHY ITS NOT RATED HIGHER. I feel like this is a great option for takeout/quick ramen. The to-go packaging for the ramen is top notch; the lid is basically sealed so nothing can spill, and the noodles and meat are separated from the broth. I got the pork ramen and liked it (and I've had a lot of ramen in AZ). It is a bit on the pricier side #inflation, but it's about the same price as a poke bowl and I feel like it's worth it for some good and quick comfort food. Definitely check this place out if you're in the South Scottsdale area!
google avatar

Lance L.

Yelp
Small portions in a tight container make it hard to eat. Noodles are not 6 fried chicken in the Ramen special is too crispy, leaving you feel full in an ugly way. Staff was friendly. Go to Ramon Time instead

Yelp
I was super excited to hear that a clever koi concept was coming to sky song. I went on Saturday night around 8pm. There was a decent line, but they were moving it right along very swiftly. I enjoyed waiting to look at the details inside the Resturant-the branding is very on point. You feel more upscale dining in due to how beautiful the inside is. I ordered the Pork Ramen. It came out within 10 minutes of ordering. To start with the positives: I am slightly obsessed with the broth. It was amazing, especially paired with the mushrooms. The egg was also super good and added flavor. I will say, there was some depth lacking in the flavor. It needed some spice, or some seasoning or something. I can't put my finger on it, but for $14 it was quite bland. My biggest issue was with the pork. Having dined at Clever Koi in the past, their meat is amazing (flavorful, juicy etc). Clever Ramen however was dry and bland. Very bland. Serving was also on smaller side for ramen. I know they are technically in their soft launch phase and there is room for improvements. Either the prices need to go down or the quality needs to go up. They nailed the experience, just need to nail the food.
