A Guide to California's Central Coast

"One of Paso Robles’ standouts, this winery founded in 2007 by Guillaume Fabre and his wife, Solene, draws on deep French winemaking roots. The estate is planted to Rhône and Bordeaux varieties and also sources from top California vineyards like Bien Nacido; revisiting the idea of making wine later in life proved a wise decision." - J'nai Gaither

In August we made a trip to Paso Robles for a wine pick up party at the amazing home and vineyard of Solene and Guillaume Fabre followed by a private party at Le Petites Canailles a popular French restaurant in town featuring a very special menu and library wines.

We were told about this boutique winery with fabulous wine. We were tasting somewhere else and just went without a reservation. The owners were kind enough to allow us to join them and we were absolutely thrilled with the experience. Beautiful property and the service provided by Hannah was outstanding. Oh yeah… the wine. 😛 We tasted a terrific white and we are not generally fond of white wines. The reds we tasted were all outstanding and the story of the owners shared with us was inspiring. We will definitely be returning and I encourage anyone reading this to give them a call and go. You won’t be disappointed.

Everything about Clos Solene is perfection. The wine, the pairings, the location, and the team. This is our fifth time here this year and we are already planning our next visit. ANNA is an incredible hostess.

It was a perfect way to start the day. A great setting. Processing of the fruit was taking place. Got to watch and be a part of that. Incredible hosts. The wine is spectacular. I have several bottles aging in my wine cooler. Can't wait!!!!

Tasting for 6 Saturday afternoon on the patio, friends weekend and our second stop was Clos Solene, met Guillaume the owner and winemaker. Tasted some amazing wine, a white Rose La Rose, a Grenache based blend Harmonie, and a Syrah, Grenache based blend Fleur de Solene were stand outs.

Very nice tasting experience! The wines were delightful and the bread and cheese delicious. Be sure and ask for the bread recipe that Solène bakes every day. We hope to return when their new tasting room is built. Highly recommend this winery!

Hannah was an AMAZING host during our most recent trip! We have always loved Clos Selene, but Hannah really made it a great experience. So excited about the new caves!

Our time at Clos Solène was by far our favorite in Paso Robles. The experience felt like we were welcomed into their home with Solène’s homemade bread and cheese shaved table side (this specific service isn’t on the “menu” - we were just fascinated and had to see for ourselves). Our friend, Alejandro, guided us through the tasting with care and knowledge, remaining unassuming for Texans that admire the craft of winemaking yet lack the finer details of experts. This could have been the only stop on the itinerary, and we would have been satisfied. If you are on the fence to visit, I encourage you to do one thing: ask the locals. It was amazing to see how faces would light up when you tell them you were going / have gone to this winery. Everyone had a story, and not one was bad. It was a no brainer to get a membership here. I’m excited to see where they go in the future. P.S. ask to see the cave blueprints.
