"Birra is a small, casual Italian place with a pretty big selection of beers on tap and a ton of TVs that are usually playing sports. They have things like pasta and calamari, but your best bet here is the pizza. You can get a whole pie for $8 any time, but if you come during Happy Hour (which goes until 6pm on weeknights), you can get an entire cheese pizza for just $4, which is maybe the most ridiculous food deal in the city." - Sydney McElwee

It was my first time here and the food was fantastic! I mean really fantastic. We started out with a salad, then had the artichoke appetizer, and both were excellent. We had the pizza with arugula, prosciutto amd mozzarella. The last time I had pizza that good was when I was in Italy. We had the spumoni for dessert, and it was terrific! This place is a little gem tucked away in South Philly. Service was friendly and excellent. I will be back! Ciao!

Saw this place and decided to try it for the first time. The service is great and seating fairly abundant, yet the tables on the one side can get cramped if the bar seats aren’t pushed in when people sit there. The food is really good and the menu looks awesome. We tried a pepperoni and cheese pizza which came out hot and was really good. The flavor was nice and the crust was thin, yet chewy. A great bar pie. I really enjoyed this place and would recomend it to anyone looking for a nice slice and a leisurely stroll around a nice towny area.

Oh my gosh everything is so good! We had the chopped salad, artichokes, and Buffalo pizza. My only complaint was that the service just wasn’t great. Our salad came, we ate it. I had to remind or server about the artichokes (it wasn’t busy when we were there) and our table just ended up super crowded for only two of us because she didn’t bus it. I ended up putting the salad bowl on the bench beside me so we would have room. Our appetizer and pizza came at the same time. This was my only complaint with other LaScala locations too. Go for the food, you won’t be disappointed, just expect to have a crowded table with dishes you are done with.

Stopped here on a whim for lunch, which turned out to be a fantastic decision. I love picking a restaurant as I walk by and I was not disappointed. Everything from the appetizer to the service was amazing. We will definitely be eating here again and highly recommend it to anyone else in the area.

Came here with a friend for happy hour. The food was just ok. Nothing to rave about. The pizza was a bit bland. Our server was friendly in the beginning but toward the end of our meal it felt like she was rushing to get us out even though the place was empty and no one is waiting for a table and they weren’t closing yet. I don’t think I would return back.

We went to LaScala's Birra to watch the Super Bowl last weekend and I would say that this is one of the best choices that I had made recently. We just reserved a table as regular (no cover, no extra fees) and we got a table on the first floor, close to the TVs. Then, when we asked to move upstairs, our servers were kind to accommodate us with our requests and check in with us often. They had a special menu for game day with happy hour prices in addition to the regular menu. The restaurant gave a cozy and ambiance atmosphere, and everything was clean and neatly organized. Food wise, I fell in love with their Ricotta Board. Truffle fries and Crispy Parmigiano Artichoke were delicious, too. I find their Meatball Trio appetizer and Gaaalic pizza okay and prefer trying different dishes next time if possible!

3/7/22...stopped in for a quick happy hour. Blood orange margarita, wings and pizza and great service from Gabriel! Thank you!! 1/27/22...visited for their happy hour...pizza and drinks are really good! We also added in their chicken wings, delicious! We were invited for an impromptu birthday pizza dinner. The place is clean, roomy, has some cool pictures and their signature margherita, was really good. We had the red pizza, the white pizza and the garlic pizza. The pizza had a crisp crust, was hot and really good. Our server was super nice and I look forward to returning to try their other pizzas and pasta dishes. Birra has an awesome happy hour Tuesday through Friday one can get a white pizza, a red pizza or a white garlic pizza for only $6. That is between the hours of 4 to 7. Their signature margarita is so refreshing.

Everything here is DELICIOUS! The ricotta board is huge - definitely a perfect ‘for the table’ starter. Their pies are yummy and so are the drinks! A wonderful happy hour and ample bar seating. Stop in when you’re in the area!
