The 38 Best London Restaurants, According to Eater’s Local Dining Expert

"Open for: Lunch and dinnerPrice range: $$Cloud Land is one of just two London venues specializing in the cuisine of the Yunnan province of southwestern China. The serious restaurant serves ambitious and delicious food. The Yunnan spicy chicken, red with chiles and smoky with Chinese black cardamom, is incredible (and incredibly unusual in the city). So too are the ceremonial cross-bridge noodle soup and the Dai-style fried beef and mince dishes (the latter are reminiscent of Thai larbs). There’s playfulness, too, in the crispy, simply seasoned pork and the vinegar-dressed fried cabbage, which is the perfect accompaniment to cut through a host of hotter, richer plates.Know before you go: A waiter at the restaurant describes Yunnanese flavors as a “cross between Thai and Sichuan.”" - Adam Coghlan

The pickled fish is delicious but very spicy. Water spinach is delicious. The rice noodles are delicious. The chicken soup is a bit cold. The waiter service was very good.

If you're in East London looking to sample some Yunnan cuisine, this place could be an option to consider. Famous for its 'Crossing the Bridge' noodles, a dish where raw ingredients are cooked right at the table in a steaming broth, this restaurant, unfortunately, falls short of authenticity and feels overpriced. They somehow cooked and at a price that could cover the toll for an actual bridge. However, it's worth a try as the menu diverges significantly from Yunnan's offerings. You'll find common Chinese dishes like braised beef noodles, stir-fried pork with peppers, spicy boiled fish, and rice with various toppings, which are quite common in other Chinese restaurants in the area, often more delicious and and less strain on your purse. Consider it a quirky culinary pitstop rather than a destination.

We had a great experience at Cloud Land and would like to recommend it. This’s our first time to try Yunnan cuisine, and it met our expectations! Staffs are very helpful and friendly, all dishes we had are tasty and super fresh. On top of that, the price is decent as the portion is quite big for each dish.

Friendly staff and very tasty food. The restraunt was very clean and good was there within minutes of ordering. It's worth mentioning their premises were very clean. I had the marinated chicken with chili oil, surprisingly it is a cold dish not a hot one. Few bone pieces were left in the otherwise great tasting, filling dish.

Absolutely splendid! Undoubtedly, this restaurant serves the most authentic Yunnan cuisine I've had in London. The staff, although understandably preoccupied due to the recent opening, were utterly gracious and helpful. Highly recommended.
