14 Best Bakeries in San Jose and the South Bay Area | Eater SF

"Clover Bakery brings the essence of Japan to a San Jose strip mall. Though the bakery opened 23 years ago with a focus on tiny Japanese cakes and four types of bread, Clover’s offerings have since expanded into milk bread sandwiches, rice balls, strawberry shortcakes, and a variety of sweet and savory Japanese pastries. The yakisoba bread and spaghetti bread might sound peculiar to some, but both are popular delicacies in Japan, which Clover Bakery has recreated. The most-loved items include onigiri rice balls and cakes with fresh whipped cream. The masago pan, a savory pastry infused with crab roe, and the croquette burger, are also hits." - Cathy Park

Google
this bakery is tiny but quaint & very popular(iirc it blew up on tiktok a while ago) & has a great variety of inexpensive japanese breads as well as drinks, onigiri, sandwiches. all of the baked goods taste like what i make at home in the best possible way, and there’s something to suit everyone’s tastes. i live nearby so i stop by often but i always make sure to get something i haven’t tried before. my personal favs are the crab & fish roe bread, milk bread(comes in no sliced, thin sliced, thick sliced), melon bread, & strawberry milk. before you come in know that some of the breads have a purchase limit!!! ex. the crab roe bread has a limit of 4

Clover Bakery & Cafe is cute and neat! It has a variety of pastries and drinks with good portion and reasonable price. It's located in the super popular Mitsuwa Marketplace along with Teaspoon, Tomi Sushi and others. If you come here in the weekend, prepare to spend at least 15 minutes or more to look for parking. May the odds forever in your favor That being said, you'll be rewarded when you step inside Clover Bakery! The store looks inviting with an aisle against the wall with all the pastries you can imagine in your life. There's a table in the middle too with extra goodies and delicious stuff. Grab a tray and a tongue and the bakery is now your oyster! Go roaming and come back and share what you got There is very limited seating inside. Only a tiny table and two chairs so it's mostly grab and go at this bakery. I came on a Saturday at noon and the store was not crowded at all. I got a peach danish, a spam musubi, a chocolate chip green tea round puff and a strawberry milk. There was a bench just right outside of the store so my friend and I sat there and enjoyed our finds. I liked their spam musubi. The rice was moist and fragrant! The spam had the nice flavors and kicks. Everything worked well together and was comforting to eat. The strawberry milk was refreshing and not too sweet (which is the best compliment an Asian can give ) Perhaps because I didn't have chance to try the peach danish and the chocolate green tea puff till a day later, they didn't taste that spectacular to me. Overall, it was a nice experience visiting Clover Bakery, minus the parking headache.

Came in on at 8:30am on a Wednesday, no problems parking in the free parking lot area. Food was great, there's an assortment of Japanese snack foods from rice based onigiri, even musubis, to typical bread combinations found in many Japanese stores. Drinks like coffee, tea and others were also available. I ordered a croquette burger (usually potatoes and other veg, fried), a shrimp cutlet burger, beef curry bun, and a couple of slamon & ikura (salmon roe) onigiri. Everything was lovely. Service was great, note that there are no dine-in options. But the cashier was patient as we were asking clarifications on our orders for the onigiri and other bread that was avaialble and about to be ready. Atmosphere is a bit more frantic because the place had just opened and all the customers wanted to get fresh bread and onigiri. But overall solid an pleasant.

Google
I believe Clover Bakery is the best bakery store in San Francisco Bay Area. The store sells all fresh baked breads which taste are really delicious. Especially, my favorite breads are Fried Curry Pan, Shrimp Burger, Yakisoba Pan, and Croquette Burger. I have not ordered Roll Balls, Musubi yet but I can be sure they are also so delicious. It is a far from my home but I am happy to drive to buy these delicious Japanese style breads which are really worth. Also, I noticed the store makes a Japanese style birthday cake. I will order it for the next my son's birthday.

Google
Cozy and welcoming neighborhood JP bakery/cafe with tons of selection (pastries, fresh onigiri/other food and drinks). During peak hours it's common to have a line/some challenge parking in the plaza lot. I love their melonpan, spicy tuna sandwich (very spicy for me) and unagi musubi/onigiris. Takeout only.

Google
great cafe! it’s kind of a if you know, you know spot. the unagi onigiri is amazing! all of the little labels are super adorable too

Google
Our go-to spot for my daughter’s birthday cake! perfectly balanced, not too sweet and absolutely delicious. Thank you, Clover Bakery!

Nicholas P.

Google
Awesome bakery with lots of familiar buns, sandwiches and pastries you might see in Japan. Prices are really good for the bay area. Definitely order some onigiri to bring home as well! Got the curry and ginger beef onigiri and both were pretty tasty. The melon bread was decent and the sandwich I got was excellent! Gets a bit busy though, so expect a bit of a wait (the onigiri is freshly made, so they might need some time to make them for you as well)

Yelp
I grew up eating spaghetti and katsu buns, so I was elated to find them here. I also got a couple different fruit sandos. I lucked out and didn't encounter a line at the time of arrival to this cafe. Honestly, I was so excited for the fruit sandos that I didn't look round at the cafe much. Just straight to the cashier stand and then back to the car because we had somewhere to be. Would I go back? 100%! The prices were reasonable and everything I got was delicious. I'm obsessed with the strawberry sando, if I'm honest. I could eat 5 of them to myself. This is a spot that I would drive across town for. Definitely recommend checking them out!

Yelp
My daughter told me to put 5 stars for cinnamon donuts (6pcs for $2.50) !!! Strawberry sandwiches ($2.50) are always best too!

Yelp
This is the only Japanese bakery I go to in the Bay Area. No bakery serves soft, savory buns (spaghetti, fish, and katsu wrapped in banh mi style) and cutely decorated melon pans, including the variety flavors of handmade rice balls. Not even Anderson Bakery can make it fresh. They also have strawberry sando, which is made of fluffy white bread and soft whipped cream, much better than any Japanese grocery market. Although it's a far drive from the East Bay, they do open early at 8 am every day, except on Mondays. The service is friendly, Japanese-style. Every time I visit, I end up with a haul of several buns, rice balls, and a musubi since it's difficult to find this good quality in the East Bay. This cozy store is small with a mini cafe bar, but there's no seating area, so it's best to take them home to heat up in a toaster, except for the cakes. Expect a long line on weekends and mornings.

Yelp
4.7/5: Crab roe bun. Perfect softness/moisture level. Great flavor. 4.6: Spam unagi musubi (only available after 11 AM). Tt's good but overrated. 4.6: Melon bun with matcha and chocolate chips. Interesting dense / rich crumb. 4.5: Red bean donut. Good but not better than what you get everywhere else 3.5: Red bean bun. Nothing special 3.0: Shrimp sandwich: There is almost no shrimp. It's all bread, cabbage, and breading. Discard half the bun for more flavor. 2.5: Spaghetti sandwich: interesting concept, but it doesn't work. 2.0: Pork katsu sando. Too little pork. Too much cabbage / bread. 1.0: Salmon onigiri. Almost no salmon or salmon flavor. It's just a ball of rice with a hint of salmon.

Yelp
Stopped in at Clover Bakery today at the Strawberry Park Shopping Center. I've been wanting to go for a while, but I'm rarely in that area. My sister introduced me to Clover years ago and I've loved it ever since. Clover is a Japanese-style bakery with a variety of items like pastries, bread, pre-made sandwiches, cookies, croquettes, and rice balls. Today I picked up hot dog bread, a mini apple danish, and a custard cream bread. These are tiny little things that sell for $2.50 - 3.50. A couple other sweet items caught my eye, but I decided to take it easy on the pastries. I ate my treats over the course of an afternoon (while watching Netflix) and they were delicious. Other than their tasty food, I like Clover because it's a cozy bakery with handmade touches and because it's woman owned rather than a large corporate-owned chain. They have unusual flavors and combinations like strawberry sandwiches and chocolate chip melon bread. Their prices are very reasonable. There was no line at checkout and the cashier was very nice. I had no trouble finding parking close by on a Tuesday at lunchtime. The parking lot is shared by many shops and restaurants and can get very crowded on weekends.

Yelp
My most favorite Japanese bakery ever! I got my two favorite breads ever the mentaiko bun and the sausage jalapeno! They're so good. You honestly can't go wrong with any bread at this locally owned bakery and best thing yet is that they are actually affordable with breads being priced from $3-5. The mentaiko bun is savory and soft and the jalapeno sausage is spicy creamy soft and just so good . Please come to this bakery! I always miss it.

Yelp
This is a Japanese bakery with sale for onagi rice balls and spam musubi. It is very creative with all kinds of combinations and ingredients. The line was long . Right side was all the bread and pastry . In the middle was the mini gray cream cake . Left side was the longest line with over 15 type of rice balls and a few different kinds of musubi . They have a cute menu with the names of all the rice balls they made in the shop . Very clean and organized. Even though there was a huge parking lot by the front door , parking is a challenge especially on Saturday and Sunday . It is an interesting place to visit and try the food items .

Yelp
Cute, cozy Japanese bakery here! It's a quick grab and go and they seem to have signature Japanese items here. Service was friendly and you pay at the counter. I ended up trying their surprisingly delicious strawberry sandwich. Sweet, fluffy, creamy.

Yelp
I enjoyed the spam musubi, onigiri (spicy tuna, sriracha salmon), and pan (mentai masago, spicy tuna). My least favorite was the ikura salmon onigiri. Courteous customer service. Small establishment. No indoor dining. Plenty of parking, but gets packed fast.

Yelp
A glimpse of Japan in the bay area. Clover bakery is located in a busy plaza so parking on the weekends and during peak hours can be kind of crazy. The store inside is cozy with pastries on the side and in the middle. Their cooler has other offerings like sandwiches, cream donuts, mini-meals, and cakes. Line up along the drinks bar on the left to pay. You order the onigiri, musubi and items from the fridge at the pay counter. I come mostly for the onigiri, musubi and their agedashi tofu :) Onigiri selections are wide and can be found on laminated sheets along where the line forms. Our favs are: salmon and ikura and chicken teriyaki! The spam musubi is a fav too. Crispy spam, cucumber slice and the egg is made tamagoyaki style, so delish! The agedashi tofu is also a fav :) The dashi broth is packed separately so pour it over the tofu when you are ready to eat. Some selections for onigiri may have a short wait time during times the day since they are made fresh but the staffs are on it and will let you know. We love Clover bakery and will continue to come back :)

Yelp
FOOD: The baked goods were so good! The breads were nice and soft even after a day or two! The spaghetti bread was worth the hype but personally too carb loaded for me but the spaghetti tasted great. I also tried the chow mein bread and surprisingly there were sausages inside the bread too! Odd combinations that just worked. We also tried onigiris. The ratio is a little off, too much rice in comparison to the filling but the taste was there. The ikura was clean tasting and delicious. They offer other fried items in one of the glass cases by the register too. They offer drinks as well. SERVICE: The service was quick even when the lines got long and still maintained a positive and friendly attitude. The cashier/front lady wad very helpful and patient whenever the customers picked their rice balls/onigiris. Wonderful and kind staff. AMBIANCE: Very small and tight mom and pop shop. Nothing fancy just straight to the point with their goods. Shared parking with other business. It can get pretty packed during weekends and during peak times so if you're claustrophobic or social anxiety be aware lol. There is a sign on the front of the building that once the shop is full that a line starts then once someone comes out one can go in or if two comes out two can come in and so on and so forth so please be mindful of that when visiting. Don't overcrowd the place. Highly recommend and totally worth the hype. Some items can be pricey but most are very reasonable. Would definitely come back when I'm in the area again.

Yelp
It's a small, unassuming location and oh so cute. I think it's smart for them to not have a dine in area and just have people come in and pick up. You walk in and can choose from their offerings along the right side wall and a table in the center on the left. Grab a tray, you'll want to try a lot. I can recommend any of their sweet breads with fillings like custard, red bean, chocolate. I like the hotdog spaghetti bread, which has a slight sweetness to it. I also like their chow mein and croquette breads. It's different, while not exceptional, tastes good and is enjoyable. My favorite item is the red bean bread. When you get to the front, they have items and more desserts in their display case like cream filled goodies, sandwiches, and donuts. When you get to the counter, they have a huge variety of onigiri you can choose from. The onigiri seems expensive to me, but it's a nice occasional treat. They're all over $4, close to $5 for onigiri. I'd prefer more filling for those prices. Service has always been great ever since I found this place over 15years ago. They operate very efficiently and generally always have what I'm looking for. I recommend not going too early as items may not be stocked yet. 11am - 1pm has been the sweet spot range for me, but of course it's also the busiest and a line always forms. Not too long of a wait though, still worth it.
google avatar

Yelp
A classic local owned bakery! I love coming here to get pastry staples like - sausage breads, bread loafs and red bean pastries! The onigiri is pretty yum and I love they have so many flavors. I would pass on the egg sandwich though - it is a bit small and if you are expecting something like the Japan egg Sandos this isn't the same. It gets busy here on weekends but it's worth the wait!
google avatar

Lizey N.

Yelp
A Japanese bakery with such unique and tasty pastries and baked goods. Came at 11 which was the perfect time right before the rush came in so I recommend going early! I was able to snag a few onigiris which were fresh and warm. However some were a bit more rice packed. The unagi spam musubi was so flavorful, savory, slightly sweet, and so good. My favorite was the crab and fish roe bun - it tasted like a sushi bake haha. All the flavors were so delicious and I would come back to try more!
google avatar

HanNa P.

Yelp
They open early. We got a variety of Musubis, onigiris, sandwiches and breads. Its a bit expensive for the amount that you get Everything was good but not great. My favorite was the Musubi with Spam and Salmon Rice ball. The tuna sandwich was ok. Service was neutral but efficient. The lady working the cashier knew what to do. Inside was busy with workers making bread and Musubi's. Private lot in front.

Yelp
TL;DR Clover is currently a shell of what it once was 10 years ago Overall, the prices have gone up since COVID and the quality of the breads has deteriorated. Because of the nostalgia of frequenting this place during my formative years, I gave this place a couple more tries this year for the benefit of the doubt. But like a toxic ex, I have to let this place go at least until the quality of the food improves. The breads often lean on the drier side. It's odd because there's usually a line at most times of the day especially since this place blew up on TikTok; plus the breads definitely sell out so I can't imagine there being breads that stay on the shelves for more than a few hours. The onigiris are also like 95% rice and 5% filling. And some of them are a bit expensive for what they are. This place used to have tables for indoor dining and play Ghibli piano music but now it's strictly a to-go place, which is fine I guess but it no longer has that nostalgic and magical charm I used to adore this place for. I'm devastated to report that I won't be visiting Clover anytime soon :(
google avatar

Steven L.

Yelp
Really nice strawberry sandwiches. Their onigiri is really good too with lots of options. Be warned, they can be packed in the morning.
google avatar

Jasmine S.

Yelp
I usually come here for the crab roe bread (as you can see I bought many) but I enjoy the wide selection of both sweet & savory pastries. Don't be intimidated by the long line, it goes by quickly and if they run out of stuff on the shelf they're super quick to refill!
google avatar

Rachel L.

Yelp
Cute place with the sight of seemingly homemade greatness in the form of pastries, onigiris, musuvi and sandwiches on the shelves. This place has an assortment of baked goods, and the ones we got were delicious. The service was excellent thanks to the staff, Mika and Ryo. The melon pan was perfect and tasted exactly like the one i ate at nagoya last year. The masago bread, chowmein bread and green tea milk was fantastic. Minus one star because the bread for the spicy tuna seemed stale. If i could i would make it 4.5 star, but if you are a bakery then the bread you use should be high on a pedestal. Tiny nitpick. It's still a place i will repeat over and over!
google avatar

Ashley H.

Yelp
Clover has been a family favorite for as long as I can remember -- was so lucky to grow up with this lovely establishment! It's truly the cutest shop ever, decorated beautifully, with the sweetest employees. My favorites are the fresh sandwiches and onigiri. Crunchy veggies and flavorful tuna!!
google avatar

Abby C.

Yelp
I love this little bakery! I've visited this spot many times and the quality is consistent. Clover Bakery offers a wide selection of sweet and savory baked goods. My go to's will always include the shrimp katsu bread, strawberry melon pan, and the original melon pan. I'd say this is the perfect spot to grab snacks for a picnic. I also enjoy the variety of onigiri's and sandwiches. I will never pass ups spicy tuna onigiri or a spicy tuna sando. It has a great hint of spice while also being very flavorful. All of the baked goods against the wall and the onigiris average about $4-$6 each. These are all fairly priced and worth every cent. The staff are all friendly and efficient. Do keep in mind that there are usually lines but the wait is well worth.
google avatar

Amanda M.

Yelp
I came here one morning around 8:30am, I learned that probably better to come 30 minutes later when there's more breads available. I tried the Red Bean Milk Bread, Strawberry Pan, Mint Chocolate Chip Pan, Unagi Onigiri, Spaghetti Bread, Ham & cheese katsu bread, Berry Danish and their Milk bread. All the breads were good, I especially liked the pan since they were warm and fresh out of the oven when I got it. The other breads were good, onigiri has a lot of rice for filling but it was good too. They have a lot of variety and options, I'll come back to try their other breads, donuts and sandos.
google avatar

Eva C.

Yelp
Been here many times! Parking is ok, but could get a little crowded on the weekends. There is always a small line whenever I come. Their onigiris and sandos are very popular. I finally tried their strawberry cream sando this time. It was light, fluffy, and not too sweet, which made it a perfect little snack!
google avatar

Brenda Y.

Yelp
Whenever I'm at the Mitsuwa plaza, I love to stop by Clover Bakery for some onigiri and sandwiches. They also have an extensive selection of pastries, and they have a cafe with fairly-priced drinks. My favorite items are the melonpan, spicy tuna sandwich, and ikura onigiri. All their rice balls are made fresh and if they're out of stock of any flavor, they take maybe 10-15 max for more to come out. Staff are quick and friendly, and the ambience is usually lively for a small bakery especially during peak hours. Expect some challenge with parking in the plaza lot + a line out the door during mealtimes.
google avatar

Melissa N.

Yelp
their unique breads and onigiris are a must try if you haven't! this place is just right around the corner of mitsuwa and it's a small little bakery yet it's always packed every time i've been rather it is early in the morning or later in the day i highly recommend grabbing some onigiris at the cashier my go to is mentaiko!
google avatar

Cindy H.

Yelp
It's been a while since I've been back! I was a bit disappointed with the freshness of the pastries though! I used to come here often when I went to school nearby and came today since I was in the area. I decided to try the spaghetti bread and a few of the pastries that were new. The spaghetti bread was just ok, I wouldn't get it again. I also got the tomatoes bread with cheese and hot dog but it tasted a bit stale (the bread was sticking to the paper so was a bit hard to take off). They also had some new pastries on the menu such as the UFO green tea / chocolate flavor bread. Whenever I go here I would always like ordering the triangle seaweeds roll from here. My to go to would always be the triangle salmon roll. Overall it's a nice small affordable pastries spot that I would go to if in the area! Great for a quick snack!
google avatar

Tammy H.

Yelp
*This is purely a review for their strawberry cake. If you love simple fresh whipped cream cakes like me, you've got to try this one at Clover. STRAWBERRY CAKE: Fresh whipped cream that is perfectly sweetened balanced with the also slightly sweetened airy cake and tart strawberry slices. It's my #1 strawberry shortcake, but i'd eat it with any other fruit or even on its own because it's THAT good. I believe they have the smaller 4 inch and 6 inch on display for sale, but otherwise you should pre-order to ensure you get a cake if that's what you're looking for.
google avatar

Yelp
My favorite little bakery in SJ if not all of the greater Bay Area. Thank you to the viral videos that led me here. There's usually a line out the door and they do sell out of popular options but it's so worth it. The masago bread is my absolute favorite. I could live off these. They do limit you to four of each item (so I guess I can only live off of them for a day). Lots of bread options, both sweet and savory as well as a great selection of onigiri, spam musubi, cakes, drinks. Staff are always so nice and constantly replenishing bread. Line goes by fairly quickly.
google avatar

Wendy H.

Yelp
Stumbled into this packed bakery while we were waiting for the restaurants to open for lunch. Lots of pastries available, all for about $3 each. Got the chocolate croissant (which was good and chocolately), cream horn (surprisingly a bun, not made of puff pastry, corn bun (very pepery, not sweet like the chinese version) a bag of Christmas butter cookies (nicely decorated and crispy and a veggie croquette sandwich (that was good). I liked the cookies and the croquette sandwich the best. The kids enjoyed the croissant. I can pass on the other stuff. There's a long line but the workers move everyone one fast.
google avatar

Michelle S.

Yelp
For my birthday dinner, I decided to look for a cute small cake addition to my party as often times large cakes are not eaten and go to waste. After extensive research around the Bay Area I decided to go with Clover Bakery's mini strawberry cake. On the morning of my celebration, I called the bakery to reserve one for pick-up before closing. The worker who answered was incredibly pleasant and made the interaction smooth and efficient. Heads-up for anyone planning to visit: Clover Bakery is located in the Mitsuwa Plaza, where parking can be a challenge, especially if you are short on time. Clover bakery almost always has a line -- coming right before closing means no lines, no waiting, but also no bread as they usually sell out quickly. The mini strawberry cake itself was perfect for the occasion. Its petite size made it ideal for photos, and it provided just the right amount of cake for guests to enjoy after a full three-course dinner. Bonus points as my venue placed the cake on a gold pedestal, which made it look even more stunning. My guests loved the cake! They noted that the cake was delightfully spongy, and the cream was fresh, light, and perfectly creamy. Noting that this cake is not suitable for gluten-free diners as it is not gluten free. Clover Bakery's mini strawberry cake was a hit, and I'd happily do it all over again for my next birthday. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a simple yet elegant dessert to elevate their celebration.

Yelp
This is a cute bakery with a lot of yummy items. We usually get the fish and shrimp sandwiches, the crab roe buns, tuna and egg salad sandwiches and the strawberry shortcake. Perfect for a quick snack or light lunch!
google avatar

Yelp
I stopped in for some breakfast; a few musubis. 2x Ikura Salmon, 1x Unagi, and 1x Salmon (Sake). All were warm and delicious. My favorite is the Ikura Salmon as you can tell. Once you bite into the roe and it breaks, you feel that popping and then you taste the creamy briny goodness. Yum!
google avatar

Veronica L.

Yelp
Love coming here and they are really friendly and the food is affordable for how fresh it is. The spicy tuna sandwich def is pretty spicy FYI. I had it with their green tea latte which was made to order and was fresh and just the right mix of matcha, coffee, and milk. The ikura salmon onigiri was warm and so umami with its salty and rich flavor contrasted with the crispy seaweed and fluffy white rice. I am saving the pastries for later so I'll have to update the review with comments on those. Worth coming to check out this authentic Japanese bakery that has so much more than just simple pastries with its delicious barista, Musubi, onigiri, bread, and sandwiches.
google avatar

Chris M.

Yelp
First time here and we will be back for sure. Reasonably priced and very good quality. They had tons of other bakery items but we stuck with the onigiri for today. We ended up getting spicy tuna, miso pork, teriyaki chicken, unagi, and salmon sake. All very good and just nit picking at this point, but the miso pork could have used a little more meat in it. The flavor was great but wanted more! The spicy tuna was also good and had a decent kick to it ! Would highly recommend this place! Especially with all the different onigiri, you'll find one you like. Lastly, service was quick and easy!
google avatar

Sandy A.

Yelp
This place is so dangerous. I literally want to eat all of the cakes, sandwiches, onigiri and pastries. The only thing that stops me is the giant line because either I won't go in or if I'm in I feel pressured to order fast. Honestly haven't had anything bad here. Would eat all of it if my mouth was bigger.
google avatar

Philip C.

Yelp
Super delicious and very reasonably priced. I ordered the cake ahead of time and added a few of their yummy pastries with my order. The coffee cream cornet and melon pan were favorites. Parking by Mitsuwa is always a pain though.

Yelp
This review is really just on the baked breads as we went too early in the morning to be able to snag any musubis. All in all, for the price and the home baked goodness, I was rather disappointed. The baked goods are just decent. Also, they're all either $3 or $2. But way more are $3 than $2. The savory ones with curry and other savory items were overly salty and you didn't pick up on other savory notes. A few of them were just not good. The sweet ones, only 1 stood out, which was the chocolate croissant, which was excellent. All of the other ones were rather forgetful or bland. I really wanted to try a musubi, but they don't start until 11am. I guess I'd have to visit again. They have a lot of people working in the mornings. A lot! Nice folks, very industrial. Private parking for the small plaza.

Yelp
Clover Bakery is THE best Japanese bread store in the South Bay (IMHO). Looking for that delicious curry bread or onigiri? This is the place. Come early (before 10am) on weekends to avoid the long lines. Though don't fret if you make it in late as the lines go relatively quick. They have limited space inside so once lined up and you make it to the door, you'll go grab your bread items from the right side (remember to use the tongs). The recs: 1. Onigiri - aka rice triangle balls with various insides from spam or fish eggs to salmon or eel. Definitely a must. Order onigiri at the register 2. Shrimp bread - ugh, SO GOOD. I don't know what is inside it other than it's shrimp, fluffy, and creamy. Grab from the side bread aisle 3. Curry bread - another must have. 4. Small strawberry cakes - light, slightly sweet whipped-cream cake that's good for 2-3 people. Great for a small celebration (ask for it at the counter). 5. Coffees/teas - not fancy by any means but can get a latte or matcha etc for relatively lower cost than nearby coffee shops (order at the register)

Yelp
I have to admit, this is one of my favorite malls in the area. Except for the parking and poor drivers... Quality/Quantity - 5 stars. As usual, we overbought. Good selections, actually too many good selections to choose from, hence the over buying. Decent coffee and drink options; see picture of menu. Small selection of hot foods, see picture of menus. Today I got the following, all of which were good. Green Tea Melon Bread. Strawberry Melon Bread. Almond Danish. Custard Donut. Sweet Red Bean Paste Donut. Atmosphere - Small local bakery. They used to have indoor seating but changed it and kept their to-go format. Open 6 days a week from 8am to 5pm, closed Mondays. Plenty of mall parking, but it was almost always full. I typically park at the furthest parking spaces to avoid the poor drivers. Watched as two cars backed into each other this morning. Then they leave the cars in the middle of the lane so NO one can get through. They were there over an hour discussing who was at fault. Well you BOTH backed out... Good luck. Service - Mostly self-service, grab a tray and tongs then go at it. If you want items over the counter, they will get it for you. Good, but slow, so be patient. Only one register. Price - $13. Inexpensive in my book. Especially for the quality. $2 to $3 each. Owner Comment - Congrats on your success since 2000, we will be regular customers.

Yelp
Came here a couple days ago. Sometimes it's super busy sometimes it's not. The inside is a lot cleaner than before. Back then there was junk hanging from the sprinkler and was very cluster, now it's a lot better. It's a very cute bakery with all types of bread, food, and desserts. We got the onigiri (price varies), potato salad sandwich ($4?), and cream cone ($3). We typically get the teriyaki onigiri. The potato sandwich is light and creamy with cucumber and a slight hint of spice. It is a little small though. The cream cones, we think the strawberry tastes the best out of green tea and coffee.

Yelp
One of the best bakery's to spot at for lots of small quick bites tot take on the road! Service is great. Only downside is fall is if the plaza is busy, it's tougher to find parking. Once you go in, if you go near the register, You will notice lot of onigiris to choose from (rice triangles w/ nori wrapped and choice of filling) they also have other varieties of cakes and cold sandwiches and mixed baked goods! Will take pictures for next time! It's right around the corner from a large Japanese convenience/grocery store, which also has some other eateries within the store! And a bookstore.

Yelp
Reccomend if you're already in the area and want to pick up a sweet treat. TREATS: Their milk bread style pastries were definitely my favorite. I tried the cream coronet and the blueberry danish. Both were not too sweet, fluffy, and the fruit was fresh tasting. I would reccomend taking home something like the danish and warming it up for a better taste. They were tasty but nothing that I haven't tried before. PRICE: Considering the pastries are home quality, I find the price fair compared to a big box chain like 85º Café. Each bread that I picked was $3, totaling $9 for three different treats. INTERIOR/LOCATION: There is plenty of parking as this shares the same plaza as Mitsuwa Market. This is a to-go spot, so have a plan to either take your pastries home or to your next destination, there is no indoor seating. Service was standard, nothing notable.

Yelp
Some items were good and some were just okay. The spicy tuna sando was delicious. The hotdog buns are also good. However the onigiri is a ripoff at $4 - mostly all rice and barely any filling. If you come after 3pm most of all the baked goods are gone.

Yelp
Clover is one of my favorite places to grab a small bite. Parking is horrific on weekends, with everyone going to Mitsuwa or eating at restaurants nearby. On several occasions, we had to loop around the lot or just leave because it was impossible to find parking. The line also gets incredibly long, and it gets crowded--especially when people don't list to the in store person limit that's literally on the door... However, whenever we go on weekdays it is super chill. I love the pork bun and the fruit sandos! They make for really great foods to pack for a hike. My boyfriend loves the egg sando and tuna sando. Highly recommend, but be wary of when you go.

Yelp
This super busy Japanese bakery has a wide variety of Japanese delicacies- bread, onigiri/musubi, sandos, cakes, coffee, and tea. I called in on a Saturday morning to see if a last minute birthday cake was available. To my delight, I was told that they had a 6 inch strawberry cake was available and that a hold could be placed for me. A 6 inch cake for $24 is honestly steal. Unfortunately, no decorations could be made on the cake since it was so last minute. Additionally, they don't provide any birthday signs, plates, or candles. Next time, I will call in a few days earlier if cake decoration is required. Now, the moment you have all been waiting for- how was the cake you might ask? Honestly before I grabbed a cake from Clover, I was a little worried because I had read varying reviews that were positive to negative. So, upon the first bite, my expectations were low. However, I was pleasantly surprised to taste a wonderfully light and delicious cake that was praised overwhelmingly by Asian parents of all people. First of all, the cake was not too sweet. The cream was light and lightly sweet, the cake texture was bouncy and had a fragrant egg flavor. The strawberries were a little randomly spread about the cake so each bite didn't have a same amount of strawberries but that wasn't a huge issue. The strawberries were also noticeable fresh and not too sour but not too sweet. Not bad at all for $24 really. I will definitely be coming back for cake on the next occasion, especially since my boyfriend who doesn't even like sweets got seconds.

Yelp
A small Japanese bakery with excellent milk bread. They also have onigiri & strawberry cake. The lines can be long here. They offer thin or thick slices for their breads.

Yelp
Clover I will always love you. My favorite pastry here is the crab and fish roe! This last time I tried the shrimp burger for the first time and fell IN LOVE!! Sooo yummy and will be adding it to my must haves going forward !! They got rid of their indoor seating area so it's just a buy and go shop. Line can get long later in the day so would suggest going earlier if you can!
