Beer-Friendly Church Begins Pouring Liter Brews Next Week in Georgetown - Eater DC

"Church Hall, a new beer hall in Georgetown from the owners of other neighborhoods bars (Franklin Hall and Penn Social, among others), is currently scheduled to serve its first spiked slushies and liter drafts on Friday, March 30. The name for the slanted window-less bar, tucked under a parking garage at 1070 Wisconsin Avenue NW, was inspired by Tin Shop co-owner Peter Bayne’s wife — who at first glance noted its shape mimicked the arch of a cathedral. Bayne says 16 of the 28 drafts flowing from the beer taps will change quarterly while the other 12 will rotate regularly; local pours hail from Atlas Brew Works, Anxo Cidery, 3 Stars Brewing Company, and others. Inaugural draft cocktails include a cherry blossom gin and tonic, and a hibiscus John Daly, as well as a mint julep slushie, and matcha almond milk latte slushie. Three bars stretch across the 7,000-square-foot space, with two downstairs and one sitting upstairs on the mezzanine. Chef Justin Clements’ opening menu includes a jumbo pretzel with cheese dip ($8), sweet potato tots ($6), crispy chicken wings ($10), and a spicy black bean veggie burger ($11). There’s over a dozen flat-screen TVs for watching sports, while board games include giant Connect 4, giant Uno, Cards Against Humanity, and Jenga. The projected hours of operation are from 4 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. on Monday; 4 p.m. to 2 a.m. Tuesday through Thursday; 4 p.m. to 3 a.m. on Friday; 11 a.m. to 3 a.m. on Saturday; and from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. on Sunday. Happy hour, which includes discounted beer, wine, and rail drinks, is currently scheduled to run from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday. Management says the bar may open during the day on weekdays if the demand is there. Status: Scheduled to open March 30 at 4 p.m." - Tierney Plumb

What an awesome little bar! Plenty to do. We came in for karaoke on a Saturday and did not leave disappointed. During football season, they run various promotions and we scored $5 beers and $8 hotdogs w/ fries. The best part was certainly karaoke, with a fun MC and an easy-to-use online queue system. We were able to track exactly when it was our turn, and they have couch seating right next to the singer so you can support your friends. You also get a ticket for a free shot @ the bar every time you perform!! They had just about every song under the sun and a great sound system that rang throughout the large bar. Despite it being busy, it did not feel too crowded. We will be coming back

We were in town visiting and happened upon this place. I’m SO thankful we walked downstairs to see what it was all about. The manager, Jacob, was so friendly and incredible with beer recommendations. Several drink options and rotating once in a lifetime brews on tap. We had the best time dancing and watching some hockey play off games. The music and the games are so much fun. 10/10 would recommend and we can’t wait to come back!

A really cool place. It's downstairs and has a lot of room for people to sit. They have food and happy hour has good prices but otherwise drinks are pretty on par with normal cocktail prices. I had a pomegranate margarita that was really good. Food is pretty decent. The parmesan truffle fries were good, and so were the croquets. They had trivia on Thursday when we went but it was really hard to hear with how loud it was. Overall a cool spot and friendly bartenders.

Great place to watch sports. Comfy chairs, lots of space and amazing staff (especially the big guy with the beard). Would definitely recommend for people looking for a place to watch a game, grab a drink or something to eat, sit back and relax.

Great find on our trip to DC! This bar is found after going down stairs and sort of looks like it’s near the entrance to a mall. We weren’t sure if they were open when we went because it’s hard to see inside. The inside looks really cool and the bartender makes a pretty good espresso martini. We ordered slices of pizza, which were a good size. The overall look of the bar was really cool with couches, fireplaces, and tvs throughout. There is plenty of seating. Order food and drinks at the back bar.

Great atmosphere and a really good beer selection! There isn’t table service so you order and pick up your drinks at the bar. You have your pick from couches to high top tables but the best part is they have games throughout the entire place. Games that can be played where you’re sitting, thought that was a really cool idea!

The restaurant has been designed well. Lots of huge TVs for sporting events, and games for people to play. They have couches and large picnic tables. The beer selection is solid. The service on a Wednesday during happy hour was a tad light. The burger was pretty well done with a nice char and a good assembly of vegetables. Always feel free to reach out to me on Twitter @joerazz

Just hosted our 10-Year High School Reunion here and it was amazing. Booking the space was super easy and communication with Elliot up until the event was also great - he was so responsive and supportive of our event. Day of we worked with Caroline and she was also amazing - made sure we got all the drink tickets we needed and group food orders done as well. The space itself is also awesome, very good vibes and good lighting. My group had the entire fireplace area reserved and there were nice comfy couches and high-top tables for for mingling. My sister hosted her High School Reunion at the same time and place as well in the upstairs bar area and she also had an incredible time. Can't wait to come back and will definitely be trying to host more events here in the future!
