"Clyde Iron Works was long a factory and another giant industrial building not far from the water, that fell dormant after a heyday of iron working. At the beginning of the Lincoln Park redevelopment as a destination for dining and craftspeople, an investor bought the building a undertook the massive process of converting it into a music venue with a bar and restaurant attached to it." - Joy Summers

We had our wedding ceremony and reception in the main event center and wow it was stunning! Also, clyde has awesome catering - the food options are great and it is all delicious! We loved the pasta bar. We have gone to Clyde for breakfast and dinner before and loved it so I'm not surprised their catering is amazing. This building is stunning and has cool history. If you want to create a elegant, warm, fun, industrial atmosphere then look no further. I would highly recommend having your wedding at the venue. I loved all the spaces (getting ready suite, main event room, and overall layout). Just book here! You won't regret it!

We had a group of 7. They weren’t taking reservations, but when we arrived around 745 on a Thursday, they were able to find space for us. We had to wait a few minutes for a large table to be available. They were very nice about it and checked in with us repeatedly. We were happy to wait. Our server Sierra was attentive and got our orders in accurately. We ordered an appetizer of fried ravioli. When they were brought to the table they noticed we had one less ravioli than people in our party, so they fired one up just so we’d each have one. Drinks were delicious and generous. Our food was all cooked to order, including 3 burgers. The steak was an experience! They cook it to rare, and then bring it to the table on a stone that is heated to 500 degrees. That way you can pull it off the stone when you are ready to eat it. We closed down the joint with dessert. Even though we finished our meal about 9:10, and they closed at 8:30, they were kind and didn’t make us feel rushed. We enjoyed our meal at Clyde!

We enjoy checking out new places and knew we had to check this place out once we found it on Google. The parking was hard because the building has multiple uses, but the building and atmosphere are top-notch! As others have stated, the wooden menus are cool but harder to use. Thankfully, it has a decent selection of different options. All the food had good flavor and the presentation was nice. The prices are a little on the higher side compared to portion sizes. Service was friendly and professional. I also liked how open everything is, and that shows how clean they keep it. We enjoyed it and will most likely be back when we're in the area.

Google
Nice place, decent service. Food was greatly lacking. They say their burgers are medium....but they were very well done. Dry to eat... edges were actually crunchy. I got the Garlic Mushroom Swiss burger on a gluten free bun. Side salad. Salad was okay. Burger didn't taste like there was garlic, and in general, was not tasty at all. Very messy too. The gluten free bun was cut so there was a lot of bread on top and hardly any bread underneath. Had their router which was meh .. got iced tea sheet that. We were right by the bar and it got really loud for a while. Gluten free is not marked on menu. But it does say they have gluten free buns for 2.00 more. They also have gluten free pizza crust. Probably won't go back though, did was kiind of disappointing.

Google
Clyde Iron Works has a new menu and boy is it fantastic! I had the shrimp scampi and everyone at our table loved their pasta, salad, and sandwiches! I would highly recommend everyone go check out the new food items and have your mind blown! 10/10 would recommend for Duluth handmade Italian pasta and so many good eats! Also the dessert cannolis were out of this world delicious!

Google
Such a cool building, and delicious food to go along with it! My husband and I both got burgers that were some of the best we've had. The "egg on your face" burger was named intentionally, as I did in fact have lots of egg on my face! Wouldn't change a thing about it though!

Google
Beautiful place and very delicious food. Had their clyde Reuben Sandwich and it was very delicious. Also, it’s a lot of food 😅

We attended the Valentine’s Day event at Clyde Ironworks hosted by Vah Events. Before the event we drank a flight of Clyde’s brews at the bar. We enjoyed all of the different types of beer. For dinner we had baked walleye and apple crisp; and turkey with all the fixins and cheesecake for dessert. The food was well presented, tasty and came out hot. The staff was accommodating and hospitable. We enjoyed our time at Clyde Ironworks and the good food will bring us back.

Yelp
A friend was hosting a conference here so I was able to eat at the restaurant a couple of times. They do make their own pasta so that's a complete score in my book. I tried it and it was better than average but won't beat an Italian restaurant. Likewise they had a good pepperoni pizza that was also well executed. Not the best but very good quality for more of a brew pub. I was impressed that they did have a good pizza. Service was hit and miss but the place was pretty busy with the conference. I liked that they kept the open feel of and it kept it truer to an old Iron work. I will be back next year to try other dishes.

Chelsy M.

Yelp
I love the look and feel of this place and all the history. The fries with the Parmesan dill dip are amazing! The Cesar salad is just meh but I'd be back to try a burger or something else.

andrew s.

Yelp
The Smoked Salmon Chowder soup is probably one of the best things I have ever eaten! Had 2 bowls of it. Never take this off the menu

KC C.

Yelp
Bartender Aram is a riot! Super interactive! I ordered The Clyde Iron burger & substituted onion rings. The burger is simply but flavorfully seasoned, nice & juicy, and cooked to perfection on a lightly toasted bun. The onion rings, oh my word! FINALLY a place that doesn't deep fry them into oblivion! Nice crisp coating, cooked perfectly, and just the right thickness. Highly recommend and will definitely be back!

Thomas P.

Yelp
We say every time we come here, why do we bother with anywhere else. People, price, place and food is right every time Thanks Aram.

Justin R.

Yelp
Ya know - when things improve at a place I want to make sure I update my reaction. I have gone to Clyde for business functions multiple times since my first review and every visit has been better and better. The service was always good but the food has certainly gotten better each time.

Haeli L.

Yelp
The interior is fantastic, it's gorgeous. Every staff we've encountered has been friendly and attentive. Food is decent.

Robin P.

Yelp
A truly disappointing experience, to say the least. We were seated right away, which was great. Service was excruciatingly slow. It looked like there was one server for the entire downstairs. Poor girl was trying to do everything herself. Our lunch order was two kids meals, a sandwich, and two salads. After being in the restaurant for an hour and a half all we had received were a couple of flat sodas and a house brewed "Logger" beer that was... not good. Several tables nearby had no food either. We asked if our food would be out soon and it hadn't even been started! We canceled the order. The atmosphere of this establishment is really cute and beautifully put together, but maybe they should have put some of the money they spent on hip fixtures (and an obnoxiously large Christmas tree) into their payroll/hiring budget.

Corrine T.

Yelp
Love this place! So much character and unique design. The beer and food was excellent. Our waitress was pleasant and quick to serve us. Highly recommend!

Dawn W.

Yelp
This is the 2nd time we have been to this restaurant and it was just as delicious as the first time even though the visits were over a year apart. They were very busy and it seemed like there was only 1 girl working the whole floor but she was very nice. Sodas tasted like they were missing some carbonation but everything else was very good.

Silvershark C.

Yelp
I had the pizza, pepperoni and Italian sausage, done in the wood fired oven, which was really good!! The service was timely, and the noise level was low! I liked the table and chairs as the were very comfortable! The server was friendly and polite!

Kierra M.

Yelp
Excellent dinner and top notch wait staff! It's a high order to host 30 folks on short notice and make it a memorable experience for all-- Clyde's delivered. Fun atmosphere, quality food, and above and beyond service. Ask for Sierra when you go!

Greg G.

Yelp
Great place and accommodating to my daughters celiacs disease. You can catch a hockey game too.

Israel M.

Yelp
Clyde Iron is a perfect neighborhood restaurant. The food is outstanding and the atmosphere is lively and bright. It is a great place to bring the family, or have an intimate date, at one of the high-top tables. Prices are very reasonable, and the portions are ample. I really enjoy coming to Clyde Iron!

Cam M.

Yelp
Clyde Iron Works is a place of options. First, it is a restaurant with delicious Italian inspired food. Secondly, it is a fantastic event venue. Thirdly. you could go there to grab a beverage or snack and hang out with friends and play a game of oversized chess. The building was repurposed brilliantly and has unique history. Go check it out.

Dorothy H.

Yelp
I came here for a private event in which we did some pallet painting and the restaurant was super accommodating to our large group and our event! The interior is really unique - a rustic feel, but still very open and modern. They have giant chess right when you walk in which could be great for kids! This seems like the kind of place you could go for a casual meal or an event like ours (I saw a prom group there, too!) As for food, not the best I've ever had, but that could be because I ordered the wrong thing. I ordered pasta, but I think the real winner was the chicken pot pie. I tried some that my friends ordered, and wow. I need it. Next time I'm up in Duluth, I'll be sure to come back and order the chicken pot pie!

Darien J.

Yelp
Cute design, wide open space with high ceilings and lots of air. Friendly and attentive staff (though they were too busy to check on drink refills). Food was great (fresh chips and Stromboli were amazing). We will definitely be back!

Danny H.

Yelp
Great place great food and a great environment to enjoy a delicious meal. A must visit place when in Duluth.

Julie D.

Yelp
We had a great lunch here. The service was fast and the food was all really good. The French onion soup was perfect. The building is also really cool and definitely worth checking out.

Michael B.

Yelp
I'd like to rate the food but we were turned away. A group of 9 of us (8 adults and a 6 year old all in the same family) all in town from different cities were told we couldn't be served because a cook didn't show up. 4 smaller tables were being served but there were lots of empty tables. Should have been a sign on a Saturday night at 5:30pm. When we walked in, two of us got there before everyone else. They asked how many. We told them 9 and the host because a little flustered and a manager asked if we had a reservation. We said we didn't. She said she'd need to check and she'd be back to us. She came back and said she couldn't serve us because a cook didn't show up and too many orders would get then flustered. We were then told there was another group with a reservation coming in and we could be seated after they were done so around 7 or 7:30 pm. We certainly weren't going to wait around until then and were scrambling to find other accommodations. What I don't get is that if four groups of two showed up would they have been served? Why ask how many if you aren't serving people. Put a closed sign outside. I would have expected the manager to say that they were understaffed so orders could take awhile and may be slower and let the customer decide if they want to dine or not. What happened to people rolling up their sleeves, working hard to earn that days pay? Not serving willfully paying customers will not keep the doors open. I hope the restaurant compensates the servers who missed out on their tips for the evening.

Whitney C.

Yelp
Oi. So OMC BBQ was so packed when we tried going, that we tried to scramble to find a place that was close by and open around 8:45 at night. We found this place and from the looks of the menu, it seemed to have really yummy food. First we ordered the fried ravioli as an appetizer. While the pieces were larger than most, and the sausage inside was delicious, it only came with four pieces. We were left with a ton of extra marinara sauce, we wishing we had more ravioli. My boyfriend ordered their chicken parm. While he seemed to have liked it at first, he told me later that the noodles were really starchy and it was so so. I ordered the Minnesota pastie, and was expecting ground beef (could have sworn it said ground). What came back was something that resembled roast beef. Not so bad, but still not what I expected. Also, the veggies and beef looked like they had been through a food processor. I was expecting there to be big hearty chunks of potato, carrots and whole peas. Instead, the potatoes were tiny slivers and stuff that tasted like celery. All that said, even our Castle Danger cream ales we ordered at the beginning tasted off, but maybe that was just the disappointment.

Yelp
For as large as Clyde Iron Works is, they could use a few more tables. Our gathering with family here was hampered by a wedding reception or something downstairs, which made use of the games impossible. We had to eat upstairs, near the bar, and had to wait 45 minutes for a table. That was unfortunate, and surprising given the space upstairs. I was expecting truly great food, but in the end was let down. I had the Monte Cristo, Clyde-style. Personally, I didn't care for it. The graham cracker coating gave the sandwich a flavor that I didn't particularly enjoy. The same was true for my bride's reuben, with its kimchi. It was overpowering and dominated the sandwich, which also had little Thousand Island dressing. Both sandwiches were unique, but disappointing. We would not order them again. Both would have been better with less experimentation and more sticking to tradition. None of us enjoyed the onion rings, either. They were the big, thick kind with the crumbly coating. We expected something more hand-made, with a light, crispy, beer batter. That wasn't what we received. The ambiance of Clyde's was great, and we enjoyed our time together visiting. We simply wanted to enjoy our food more.

Raven T.

Yelp
We were seated right away which was nice. They quickly got our drinks for us and gave us the perfect amount of time with the menus. I ordered the Smoked Salmon chowder which was delicious. It had lots of flavor, was the perfect temperature, my only complaint was that I found a fish bone in it. I also ordered the California Chicken Sandwich, it was extremely messy and a little spicy. Not my favorite by far. But the smoked/roasted vegetables were to die for! Incredible flavor, smokey, flame taste which was super unique and made them so delectable. Next time I go I may just order my entree as the vegetables they're that good! We also had the cannolis which both my bf and I enjoyed. He's extremely picky so that's saying something! We were slow to be offered the check and to go boxes, but other than that it was an overall good experience.

Diana F.

Yelp
I was so excited to come beee after looking at the menu! They had pesco-tarian options that actually sounded good. We arrived and had no idea where to go for seating, no greeting or direction. We learned by asking to go upstairs. So we did. We were told it was 20 minutes even though there were dozens of seats open. We took a buzzer and waited. A trio came in after us and got sat before us. This happened again. A larger party got sat first.... so we went to the bar, returned the buzzer. The bartender helping us seemed annoyed we were ordering food and not drinking more. We ate, complimented the soup, and were met with an "okay" in response. Long story short order to go. Youll get the great food without the lackluster service.

Wendy W.

Yelp
Wide open dining are that is now on the lower floor after their remodeling. Great for handicap accessible. Fun open bar that is well lit. They have a lot of gluten free options that are quite tasty.

Amanda L.

Yelp
Oh boy. I never leave reviews but I feel like I need to. Please don't spend your money here. Oof, it was bad. Bad service, bad food, bad drinks. Even the bathrooms are trashed. Never again.

Nikki H.

Yelp
Favorite date night spot!! The chicken Alfredo is phenomenal, their burgers are unmatched (from other local restaurants that is) and Katie, the manager and bartender is our favorite person to visit for date night. Always make a reservation in advance! Try the Parmesan dill sauce!

Dre' M.

Yelp
Yelp reviews did not disappoint on this one that's for sure. Hands down one of the best fish sandwiches I've ever had. Attention to detail all the way to the roll being warmed on the wood burning grill - perfection is all that I have to say!!!! Fresh grilled vegetables lightly seasoned with a cup of homemade Italian wedding soup. I will return for a new selection next time I am in town.

Peter T.

Yelp
A hundred years or so in the making, the new restaurant at Clyde Iron Works, 29th Avenue West and Michigan Street, is now open. In the cavernous space of the old iron crane company, in a building that machines came out of that built the Empire State Building, Panama Canal, and logged the forests of the Great Plains, a local entrepreneur is making his mark with a micro-brewery, restaurant, bakery, and boutique hotel, adjacent to the new non-profit, multi-purpose athletic center, to be the home of high school and amateur hockey games. The restaurant specializes in simple foods, made from scratch, and cooked in wood-fired ovens brought in from France. Kawikamedia and the Minnesota Burger Posse hit the Ironworks today, and were among the first diners in Duluth to enjoy the fruits of the kitchen. The wood-fired pepperoni pizza was a huge hit, crispy charred think crust, and ample toppings. Kawikamedia continued his quest for the Twin Ports best Pepper Cheeseburger, and gave that an A+ also, fresh ground hand-formed patty. The hand-cut fries were adequate, he said, and he bought sides of blue cheese and pico de gallo for laughs, which he also like. The gang left full and satisfied, but Kawikamedia is already thinking of heading back to the bakery to pick up multiples of items he saw other people enjoying.

Kendra M.

Yelp
So all I want to say is this venue and restaurant were absolutely amazing. The reason I'm leaving a one star review is because the bartender that was working Saturday night was probably the worst service I have ever received. She was very rude and I understand being overwhelmed. I have worked in the serving industry for 8 years now and I would never expect another server to treat her customers the way she did Saturday evening. Highly do not recommend her service to anyone. I was definitely not the only one that felt that way. On the other hand, the bartenders that served for the wedding party were absolutely amazing and fun to interact with!

Jodi V.

Yelp
Wowza who knew this deliciousness was in Duluth...well now I do. We drove up from the cities and we were getting hangry so we found this place. We started with some corn flake crusted onion rings and they were awesome. I usually drown my onion rings in ranch and I just couldn't do it because they were so tasty on their own. I had the wings and they were crispy and Smokey and delicious. My friend and the cheese ravioli with Alfredo sauce. I have never had Alfredo sauce this good. I want to go back and just order the Alfredo and bread and eat only that.

Chris W.

Yelp
Couldn't be happier with Clyde. The building is cool and the open floor plan is very comfortable. Staff is friendly and fun. James made us the best wood fire pizza I've ever had. Will definitely go back again!

Edwin H E.

Yelp
The food and atmosphere really were confusing, kids were running around unattended on the main floor, which the restaurant overlooks and is open to. Sounded like ChuckeeCheeses at times, surprisingly you would have never known that there was a wedding party in the rear of the building. The restaurant and bar, in reality they are the same, had a diverse mix of people. What appeared to be dating couples, single men and a couple of groups of friends and one couple and their parents. The menu choices we originally ordered were unavailable and our second choices were not that good. The chicken stroganoff was so-so and the porketta sandwich only saving grace was the cup of au jus and the French fries. Although the first fries were way salty, the second, ordered with no salt were delicious. We ordered the cheesecake for desert and it was disappointing, too many stale crumbs that were supposedly the crust, but the raspberry topping was tasty. Only having been here the one Saturday evening it is hard to judge this restaurant and rate it anything but average. I would give it another try, if I lived in Duluth, but there are many other restaurants to explore first.

Raven W.

Yelp
Our server, Sarah, was wonderful! She was friendly and very helpful with giving us some tips about where to go in town (we are fairly new to the area). I had eaten pizza with my daughter's first grade class here about a week prior. The pizza was so great, I wanted to go back and see the full menu! I had the bacon cheese steak burger with fries. The burger come with no condiments on it (ketchup and mustard on table), so be sure to specify if you want mayo, lettuce, etc. it was one of the best burgers I've eaten! My husband had the buffalo wings and said they were honestly the best wings he had EVER had. They're big with lots of meat (not a ton of fat) and a great Smokey flavor mixed in (they cook on wood fire grills and ovens). We will definitely be back, and soon!!

Travis L.

Yelp
My wife and I frequently visited Clyde Iron when we lived in Duluth. This visit was for a 40th birthday party and the upstairs dance floor/seating are was reserved in advance knowing how popular and busy Clyde can be. To begin, great building, theme and ambiance. It's next door to the public hockey arena and during hockey season expect some pretty long waits. There is ample seating for groups if you plan in advance. We transitioned from the bar to the reserved room and we had a server for the area. There was 42 in our party and the waitress was very busy with our drink orders. They provided pizza buffet for us and all the fire backed pizzas were great! The food here is certainly tasty and well prepared. There are pizzas, burgers, pastas and great apps on the menu. If you ever find yourself in Duluth and looking for a great place for drinks and dinner I would recommend Clyde Iron.

Tom T.

Yelp
Wow what a surprise and very cool atmosphere inside this old factory. Food was delicious, smoked porketta was awesome. Also the bruschetta had epic flavor. Highly recommend both!

Cristina T.

Yelp
Driving through Duluth on our way to our cabin today. Happened to notice this place. Not on the water. Not in Canal Park. Don't really care about the "popular places" to go. I care about GOOD food and GREAT service! This place has both! Outstanding Wood fired grilled wings. Truly best crispy flavorful wonderfully done wings I have ever had. Cheeseburger with very meaty bacon, extremely fresh lettuce and pepper jack cheese. Very hot fresh fries perfectly done. By the way, the wings come with your choice of ranch or blue cheese dressing. I said to the server Tom, could I please try your parmesan dill dipping sauce, usually a server gets exasperated and says that will be extra! Tom said what a good server should say, "no problem". Best dipping sauce ever by the way! Tapping that off, asked how much white Russians are and again, Tom did not get an attitude but quickly went to find out the price. My new favorite restaurant in Duluth. And thanks Tom for wonderful customer service. Just got my check; they do not put that "service charge" that so many other places are doing! Good job Clyde!

Robb R.

Yelp
Cool building. Weird first floor with indoor bocce and chess (two things that I never thought I would type in the same sentence) and no people. Giant upstairs space with tables on one side and perhaps the worst wedding singer ever on the other half. We got decent apps, cold pizza, uninspired sandwiches, and very average salads. I like the general idea, but there are way better places in Duluth to actually eat things in a reasonable amount of time.

Megan M.

Yelp
Came in for wings and bloody's but we were definitely surprised by how awesome everything was. Highly recommend the smoked salmon salad and French onion soup.

Caron G.

Yelp
Love the ambiance here & friendly staff. Good size wine servings with a nice selection & big selection of craft beers. Burgers wood fired & huge (1/2 lb) on fresh buttered top buns. French fries are crispy & light. Creamy Salmon soup could have used more chunks of salmon in it. We always stop here with travel trailer in tow when going through Duluth; just off 35W & on to Michigan with easy street parking for RV's.

Joshua W.

Yelp
Wood fire cooking! the BEST CHICKEN WINGS YOU WILL EVER HAVE!!!! Perfectly charred, get the buffalo sauce and a cold beer!

Nathan G.

Yelp
This is a REQUIRED stop every time we visit Duluth. Clyde's has the BEST WINGS! Their homemade honey chipotle is my favorite. On our last trip we had a group of 14 adults and 4 children and it was perfect. Their staff was extremely accommodating. We called ahead and our table was ready with the two high chairs and 16 seats as requested. They also allowed us to bring in homemade cupcakes for my sister's birthday, which we really appreciated! Considering that there was a hockey tournament next door, it was 12:15pm on a Saturday and we had a HUGE party, our experience was great.

Jacob R.

Yelp
The rehearsal dinner for a wedding I was part of was held at this location. The service was great, drinks were made well and the food was buffet style and SO good.

Danny M.

Yelp
Let me start by saying get the smoked salmon chowder. It doesn't matter what you get for a meal but you need to get the chowder for your side. Smoked. Salmon. Chowder. End of story.

Vanessa E.

Yelp
Clyde's has an impressive wow factor when you first walk in. Over sized games, iron sculptures and authentic pics. Staff was super friendly and the food was so tasty. Looking at the concert floor upstairs and the past headliners makes it clear that it'd be a great place to party.

Jeannine Marie P.

Yelp
This was one of the most unique wedding venue's I've ever photographed. I had such a fun time here and the service was great! The venue has so many fun places for portraits and awesome ceremony and reception spots. The rustic vibe was done really well here.

Jon R.

Yelp
Biked here on a brisk night and was very happy with everything. The place was busy, an event going on in the main room but headed upstairs and was immediately seated. The wait staff also handles the seating but there were plenty of them around. The dozen wings were amazing just a hint of smoke and too fried, and well portioned wings. The wife got the walleye sandwich and I had the Rueben. We both also got onion rings with our meals and they were thick and breaded appropriately. Both meals were great and sad to say we could only finish half due to being full from wings. The place is loud so not the best for a quiet night but great for drinks and typical sandwich, burgers pub food with a little upclass.

Abi S.

Yelp
Absolutely one of the best burgers I've ever experienced and our server Jill was outstanding. My husband and I have never stopped in Duluth before for food and I can't imagine choosing a better place to have a good meal. Not to mention the ambiance of the place is fantastic and educational to the buildings history. Wonderful wonderful experience! Again, Jill was outstanding and attentive!

Greg A.

Yelp
Up for the weekend from the cities and needed a place to eat supper. My son said let's go here as he had eaten here before and it was great. He was right. The food here was fabulous. My son and i had an order of buffalo wings. Not to spicy but great flavor. For dinner my wife had the walleye sandwich, my son had the porketta sandwich, my sister-in-law had a burger and I had the chicken pot pie. All of the food was outstanding. Service was great...thanks Kenyon.. The place was pretty neat on the inside with their decorations and crane. There was events downstairs so we only got to see the upstairs but we were all impressed. We will definitely be back on our next visit.
