Chef Kevin Tien Announces a Permanent New Location for His Dearly Missed Moon Rabbit - Eater DC

Chocolate-Themed Co Co. Sala Is Closing February 24 - Eater DC

"Co Co. Sala, the combination gourmet chocolate shop and cacao-obsessed restaurant that debuted a decade ago in Penn Quarter, is closing Saturday, February 24. The RAMMY Award-winning restaurant, which is overseen by executive pastry chef and Food Network alum Santosh Tiptur, has catered to sweets lovers with 3-course and 5-course dessert tasting menus, specialty cocktails laced with chocolate, and indulgent brunch offerings ranging from ricotta pancakes with white chocolate cream and French toast s’mores to chocolate-rum cupcakes. The niche eatery got a shot in the arm in late 2011 when then-first lady Michelle Obama stopped in for dinner." - Warren Rojas

I've been in the area for nearly 6 years, and have always wanted to try Co. Co. Sala. Restaurant week in D.C. was what finally got me out to try it. While waiting for our table, we tried the "Co. Cojito" & the "Fetish" from the bar. Unbelievable! If you're a mojito fan, the Co. Cojito will not disappoint. The Fetish tasted like a strawberry smoothie with a hint of chocolate, and the chocolate strawberry was an amazing addition. The starter salad (not pictured) was a Chicken Caesar. The dressing made this salad!! It was so dreamy, and the chicken was perfectly breaded. For entrees, my fiancé and I were able to select two dishes. I chose the Beef Sliders (pictured) & the Shrimp Macaroni. My fiancé went with the Buffalo Chicken Sliders and the Sweet & Sour Cauliflower (pictured). I was blown away by all of these dishes, but have to say the Beef Sliders were my favorite! The meat was excellent, so tender & juicy. We also had a tough time sharing the Sweet & Sour Cauliflower - it was unbelievable and totally blew me away since I'd never had anything like it before. Lastly, the desserts definitely didn't disappoint! I went with the Latin Lover & my fiancé got the Chocolate Onyx. We ended up swapping because I'm much more of a chocolate fan than my fiancé, but both were exceptional - perfect portions and just the right amount of sweet. Mad bonus points to them for plating them with "Congratulations" for our recent engagement. Overall - highly recommend! Especially for dates - this place is amazing.

A menu full of too many delicious options to choose from. Amazing food, dessert, and drink selections. Not cheap, but totally worth it. Great ambiance and would be a perfect stop for late night drinks/dessert.

The unique chocolate offerings both savory and sweet are delectable, decadent delicious! They are now doing medium sharable plates for dinner, but check out the happy hour (bar only) prices. You won't regret it!

A really nice place to come for a meal. There are tables for larger parties, but the feel of the place is just right for a dinner for two. The service was quick and the food excellent. The desserts are elegant and tasty.
