Cô Thành - Review - Covent Garden - London - The Infatuation

"Cô Thành already has amuch-loved outpost in Hong Kong, but this Covent Garden spot marks the first opening in London. Expect casual, tight tables with colourful stools, and dishes like pork sausage skewers in a tamarind nước chấm glaze, beer-battered fried sole summer rolls, and Vietnamese dark roast coffee tiramisu." - Sinéad Cranna

Pricey but unique viet food in London. Price is justified by central location and Aesop hand soap in the toilets lol Bumped into the owner who expanded this resto from Hong Kong to London and listened to his planning process. He was topping up soap in the toilets which I respect very much. He wanted to introduce pho to the menu but decided against it as he wanted customers to appreciate other amazing parts of viet cuisine, which I did. Garlic fried morning glory is amazing and fresh and crunchy. Lots of hearty ingredients gradients in the soups. Here I had the most unique ice cream: banana and coconut with green bits of pandan(?) the texture was a little icy but still very creamy bc of the banana. Very refreshing and defo recommend. Decor is nice too. Might come back for their drinks and other dishes. One recommendation is for the plate for the morning glory, use something that does not glide on the table. Will improve the dining experience by just that one bit by showing attention to detail

Absolutely delicious. Authentic southern Vietnamese cuisine, soup broth full of flavour. They use 60 grade of fish sauce—most restaurants in London only use 20 or 40–and it really shows, particularly in the dry noodle bowls. My recommendation is the bun nem neuong or the bun rieu. Portions are filling and fair priced. No complaints. The staff are personable and the service surprisingly quick. I would’ve expected more teething problems for a restaurant open less than a week. The atmosphere is unfussy and inviting, the exposed brick, noodle carts and imported stools really make it feel like a slice of Saigon. As you’d expect, the drip coffee is strong and the bia Saigon premium is crisp. Worth a visit. Worth multiple visits Looking forward to trying their banh mi in the future.

I’m Vietnamese born and bred, and wow the interior and exterior were very impressively authentic. The plastic tools, cutlery holder, table spoons were imported from Vietnam. Dishes are spelled correctly with the right written accents for Southern cuisine. Food had a bit of a London twist but the soul is still Viet and still super tasty. I must mention the Chè Ba Màu is extremely rare to find in central London. You could tell that the owner really loves Vietnam and wants to bring its raw beauty to Londoners. Definitely worth the price

There are many Vietnamese restaurants in central London, but this one truly stands out. The exceptional service and generous portion sizes—especially the bún bowls. We initially expected an ordinary dining experience, but we left feeling like we were saying goodbye to familiar faces. The staff were incredibly attentive and thoughtful. Our server, Biba, took the time to explain the concept behind each dish and even went the extra mile to bring us additional hot broth. We also noticed her advising a pregnant guest at a nearby table about the raw meat in her dish before confirming the order—an impressive level of care. The drinks were a delightful addition to the meal, and overall, the experience went beyond our expectations. This place is a must-visit if you want to discover the story behind the Lunch Lady and appreciate how rich and diverse Vietnamese cuisine is—far beyond just phở.

Everyone, please look at all the Vietnamese People’s reviews before you go here. This place was so disappointing. I was so so excited to try this place as a Vietnamese person. The Bun Bo Hue was FLAVORLESS. It was straight up disrespect, it’s suppose to be flavorful and spicy and a beautiful broth. This literally tasted like slightly sweet boiled water. The Nuoc Mam chicken wings, I admit were very satisfyingly crispy but the actual chicken itself had no flavor and the ‘sauce’ was more like lightly grazed honey with no nuoc mam to it at all. Don’t even get me started on the green papaya salad. It was a red flag from the moment I read ‘Purple Cabbage’. No nuoc mam flavor to it at all, it was just slightly vinegary cabbage and papaya with silly nuts and spring onions to make it look nice 🤦🏻‍♀️ They tried to tell me it’s ‘Cô Thành’s recipes’ and that they didn’t want to stray to far from her recipes… well either this is the biggest disrespect to this poor aunty’s food (Rest in peace cô 🤲🏼) or you’re literally disrespecting the whole Vietnamese Cuisine Brian Woo. As Vietnamese person this was soo so disappointing. And they tried to use ‘it’s hard to find authentic ingredients here’ as an excuse when we literally have the fattest Longdan in the country and Ly Trang on Walworth Road… Disrespected this poorly aunty’s legacy, disrespected the Vietnamese cuisine, and priced it up ridiculously. Never again. Please take yourself to Cay Tre or Kingsland Road for actual authentic Vietnamese food pls and thankyou 🫶🏼

We got into this restaurant by chance. Almost 3:00pm and we had a great experience all because of Raju. He made us fell like home. Explained to us all the dishes, the best choices for our kids... it was fantastic! The food is delicious! We were 3 adults and 3 kids and we ask for 4 menus. Next time in London, I'm pretty sure I will come back! Best of luck to all of you! Thanks Raju!

We came for lunch and shared the beef betel leaf starter which was tasty but a little on the salty side. I had the bun mam which I enjoyed - the broth was clean and fragrant with a nice mix of prawns, pork belly and vegetables. My friend ordered the bun Thai and found it full of flavour. Portions were slightly smaller than expected for the price but overall the food showed real promise. I’d come back to try more dishes next time.

I have been coming to Cô Thành since it first opened, and it truly never disappoints. The food is incredible and takes me straight back to my trips to Vietnam every single time. I have brought friends with me, and they have all loved it too. Every dish is beautifully presented, and I often forget to take photos because I am too eager to start eating. I always look forward to my next visit, and I am especially excited about the introduction of the Bánh Mi to the menu.
