New York State Restaurants Reopen for Outdoor Dining With Drive-In Theaters and More | Eater NY

"At Coach Meeting House I observed two improbable experiments: drive‑in film nights (tonight’s showing was Space Jam) with a minimum $100 per car fee applied toward concessions like beer, buffalo wings, raw clams, and steaks, and a Dairy Barn‑style drive‑through for frozen cocktails (pomegranate daiquiris, Jack Daniel’s peach tea frosé, Jameson coffee slushies, and “Fire Island Rocket Fuel”); I also noted the practical worry about people sipping frozen drinks in their cars — but, then again, it all felt very “Strong Island.”" - Ryan Sutton

This place was definitely a hit with our group! I saw posts and videos on Fb and IG, so I had an idea of the grounds but you MUST experience this in-person. Whether with a group of friends or adding a twist to family movie night, I highly recommend Coach Meeting House as a place to visit. We only wished they offered smores fixings on the menu, that would have been 10 out of 10! For the grownups, the variety of martinis were stellar and the flavors......allllll good!

We had a great dining experience. Came for an early Friday night dinner and were seating right away. Service was prompt and attentive and food was delicious. There is a cool antique equestrian decor vibe and ambiance was warm and comforting.

The igloos were amazing and the ambiance was to die for! We will be going back during the holidays to warm up with hot chocolate and a Christmas movie inside the igloos. One nice addition would be small, fairy-like string lights inside the igloo.

Husband booked us a reservation here two weeks ago for an Anniversary date this December, they called and canceled on him because another party increased their party size so they decided to kick us out to accommodate. Extremely disappointed that even after hearing this was booked to celebrate such a special occasion they decided to cancel on us. We specifically made this reservation so early in advance to prevent this exact thing. They take your credit card information so they can charge you if you don’t show up but certainly do not care if they leave you hanging. If a reservation and my card info doesn’t reserve you a spot, what does??

I went here for the first time last night. The ambiance was amazing. They had the outdoors decorated for Christmas, and they have outdoor tabletop fires with benches and the set up of the igloos was perfect. The set up of the igloos and all they had to offer inside made this a wonderful experience for me. The igloos were very warm, considering it was 30 degrees outside. Inside the igloo, they had chairs, couches, pillow, blankets, a plug in electric fireplace and a tv where you can play Christmas movies or just watch the Yule log or listen to music. You order the food from their app and the waiters and waitresses come in only to deliver your food and drinks. They had a great variety of drinks with hilarious names. The food was amazing. They had a great assortment of different types of food for everyone. I purchased a burger bowl, and it was delicious. I thought I had more than enough to take home, but it was so delicious, I ate the whole thing. My friends also had the same dish (as it was one of their favorites) and we all finished every bite. The cheesecake dessert was AMAZING. Overall between all of us getting one drink and all getting the same meal and one dessert that we shared, it came out to about $60 p/p which I think was very well worth it due to the ambiance and the service and the delicious food. You have a two hour window in the igloo and it was the perfect amount of time. I can’t wait to go back. I highly recommend.

We came here with a group to try the outdoor igloos. It’s a nice setup. Each igloo is heated and very warm , with tables and chairs and a television with different streaming services. You also get your own fire pit and chairs outside of your igloo. The menu has quite a lot of options, I tried one of the bowls and it was very good. Everything everyone got in our group looked delicious The drinks also were good. You order everything through the website after scanning the QR code and they bring it out. This was very convenient, but unfortunately after that they never checked on us again to ask if everything was good or if we needed anything. But I liked that you could have your own check and just pay everything easily on the website. Overall it was a nice experience and I would go back to try some other menu options. It’s a cool laid back spot to hangout with friends.

My friend and I returned here after having stopped by for a brief visit two winters ago. Then, we sat in an empty restaurant at the bar, ordering a couple of burgers and beers. Now, the restaurant was jammed with women celebrating a baby shower, so we were shuffled off to one of the outdoor tents. The tent we occupied was hot and stuffy, even with the fan the "waiter" turned on for us. Unfortunately, also turned on was a music system playing the most grating musical compositions I'd ever heard. Our "waiter" pointed to a card on the table and instructed us to capture the symbol contained on it and place our order as it instructed. I did as requested only to find three or four items that would qualify for lunch (unless your preference is a liquid lunch, which expands the menu's choices exponentially). I ordered a hamburger (no place in the computer to direct its preferred cooking temperature) and my friend ordered chicken fingers. The burger came out medium rare and the chicken fingers were so overdone my friend was concerned he'd lose a tooth! We paid the bill as prompted by the computer and left, promising never to return. One other caution: the computer program is a voracious consumer of your private information. In addition to payment card details, it requires your phone number and email address. I also seem to recall, but cannot state with certainty, that it required my physical address. In any event, I heartily recommend you avoid this place!

Google
Went with a very large group of people and we ate and drank liberally! The menu is whimsical and funny….drinks good. Food solid. Servers had the right attitude and their shirts included message like “day drink”…. Cool place.

Yelp
Great food. A bit pricy but big portion. Fresh pasta can't beat that! Friendly staff though they tend to cater to regulars but so you gotta make an effort to catch them. Reminds you of olden days

Yelp
Saw the igloo themed outdoor dining on IG and was very intrigued. Knew just had to come check it out with the kiddos Space is limited so make sure to make reservations for one of the igloos for a 2hr time period. They take card info in case anyone doesn't show up. It was a nice insulated igloo with a TV, fireplace, and couches. On the outside, there is a firepit in case you want to roast marshmallows. The kids had burgers, fries, and mozzerella sticks. The cheese was very cheesy We also ordered a steak/avocado sandwich and a chicken parmesan penne. That was also very cheesy for all you cheese lovers! I absolutely enjoyed the tuna steak burger. Very juicy. 10/10 TV's have netflix, paramount, and hbo max. We had a good time relaxing and watching TV while enjoying our dinner. Interesting experience! Give it a shot if you are ever in the area.

Yelp
The parking lot is a pain. Only a few spots and it's pretty tight. Outdoor seating is really cool. There is a bunch of cabanas with TVs, fans, table and chairs The food and drink is top tier The staff is very friendly and professional

Yelp
Coach Meeting House is tucked away in the obscurity of what the Oyster Bay area seems to people from elsewhere on Long Island. Once you park in their lot, you'll spot their enclosed igloo area, and then walk to the main door, greeted by an outdoor fire pit and seating. The inside reminds me of a high-end ski lodge, and there is both table and bar seating available. The last time I was there, we decided to sit at the bar, share two apps, and try their specialty cocktail. It was a quiet weeknight, so it wasn't busy, but the service was immediate and thorough. We shared the mushroom caps and fish tacos. The mushrooms were loaded with goodness, and it was a generous serving. The tacos came as a trio and contained blackened fish and all the toppings. The highlight of our meal was the Dubai espresso martini. It was like dessert in a glass! This is the sort of place you can organize a special dinner out, or stop by and grab some apps or a burger while watching the game. I definitely recommend it and plan to return to make use of those igloos out back!

Yelp
Had a nice meal here after a hike nearby. It feels like a local place and the service was friendly and down to earth. I had an artichoke appetizer and chicken parm, probably too much food but it got the spot. There are some igloos outside that seemed very popular--and raucous.

Yelp
We had a 6 PM igloo reservation on a Sunday in December. We were seated right away and the igloo was nice and warm and cozy. You also had access to the outside fire pit and table if you wanted to sit out there. Everything is QR code that you order through, which was super convenient. We started with mozzarella sticks, Caesar salad, and a French onion soup. And then for entrées, we did the steak sandwich and a cheeseburger. In the igloo, there is a TV with access to certain channels and streaming services as well. We enjoyed our meals, drinks and the ambiance. Definitely would recommend!
google avatar

Yelp
Such a cute, cozy spot! Visited in December for their outdoor igloos, 2 hr time limit, awesome setup. TV, fireplace & Bluetooth speakers. The staff is very friendly and attentive. Espresso martinis $18 comes in a variety of flavors. Food menu is basic & limited. Great spot for date night or happy hour.

Yelp
Picture this: fried food and alocoholic slushies with your friends in a heated igloo while reality tv plays in the background and you have servers on call to bring you anything you could possibly want via an app. There was an igloo of drunk moms in the igloo next to us who had been karaokeing for 8 hours and if that doesnt scream long island, I really don't know what does. The food was delicious, the drinks were perfection and the service was phenomenal. Make sure you order the miami vice frozen slushie!! SUPER DELISH. They also have a gorgeous bar inside and offer a slushie drive thru (atleast in the summer) Highly recommend this place for a fun and unique meal!

Yelp
Food and drinks always amazing! Feels like home, where everyone knows your name! Love the chicken Parm, hamburgers and potato skins. Highly recommend!

We also ordered the fries Alla vodka That were amazing

Yelp
Absolutely one of the nicest establishments I have been to in a very long time .. I found this place on IG and gave it a shot for "date night" Everything from the esthetics of the inside to the hospitality of the staff gets 5 stars.. we were greeted right away taken to our own personal igloo and shown how easy it was to order drinks and food.. we had two hours of a uninterrupted experience.. you order drinks off their app and they arrive promptly by staff to your heated igloo.. we ordered a hot apple cider drinks that was to die for and a classic espresso martini.. for food my boyfriend and I had their French onion soup and shared a steak sandwich.. but.... Dessert was the best part .. a rainbow cookie cheesecake YUMMM. I really can't say one bad thing about this restaurant.. I will be going back It was like stepping into my own personal "ROM COM" I loved it ..

Yelp
Finally tried this place as I've been trying to come here since the summer for the drive thru daiquiris & happy I waited for winter for the igloos! You definitely don't feel like you're in LI. Located 5 mins away from my house I will definitely be visiting here often. I booked an igloo for a Monday afternoon due to always being booked on the weekend. Such a cute & cozy vibe. The espresso martinis are sooooo good & I can't wait to go back with my girls for the espresso martini tree! I did order some food. The chicken parm was ok & the wings were ok. I would more visit here for apps & drinks not dinner.

Yelp
Coach Meeting House is a gem of a find located in the beautiful Oyster Bay. We had reservations for an igloo on New Years Day. Each igloo has a fireplace and tv which was really nice and brought great vibes. The food was delicious and we had great service as well. I was very pleased with this experience and would definitely go back.

Yelp
Let's meet! I mean if we're going to meet at the Coach Meeting House then I might just take you up on that offer. That's just what my fiancée and I (with our parents and her sister) in toe) all did last week with relatively tasty and positive results. I'm going with relatively because there's a lot to love about Coach Meeting House with a few small chinks in the armor that knocks down the possibility of a five star experience. Though let's start on a positive note in saying that the igloo aspect is what makes CMH so awesome. You heard that right (and by now it probably doesn't sound so weird). Coach has a bunch of plastic dome igloos (with fire pits next to each one) for reservation only. The fact that the igloos are free-of-charge (you just pay for what you order) is awesome. Even better is that you get them for two hours and can order a full menu of eats, drinks, and even watch a movie on the streaming-enabled TV you'll find inside your little insulated hut. With ideas of both eating and drinking, that's just what we all did once settled in our cozy-ish alcove. Everything is ordered through QR scan on a phone with the bill able to be broken up later by however many people order (a pretty cool and helpful part). We started with drinks and the spiked hot chocolate sounded like a winner (it was!). Not sure what alcohol was in it (maybe peppermint schnapps?), but it packed a nice little kick. From a food aspect, my parents wanted some mozzarella sticks which turned out to be tasty and had a proper gooey cheese aspect to them. I ordered the Cajun chicken sandwich which was truly delicious (so were the side of fries) while I also snagged a creamy bite of my fiancée's rigatoni alla vodka and chicken cutlet. It was a tasty start and finish to what we ate. So why four stars? Where are those aforementioned chinks? Well you'll notice plenty of wear and tear (hence the chinks) on the furniture (missing leg on the heater) and even the igloo itself (a tear in the doorway which brought in a little cold air). Speaking of the igloo, it's supposed to hold up to 10 humans, but it felt a little cramped with just 7. It also wasn't the easiest for us all to eat at the same time inside such a low and small table so a few headed out by the fire pit to chow down. And one negative of said chow? Prices weren't the cheapest. I did love my chicken sandwich, but at $20 it seemed a little steep. These are just a handful of things to know about the igloo setup, FYI. Overall though, I'd still say Coach Meeting House was cozy and fun enough to enjoy for those two hours. It might be something you wouldn't want to do very often (consider it as a special event-only type of setup) or maybe it works just for drinks and say 4-5 people. In one of those scenarios you might be looking at a full five star review. For me, I'll happily stick with four and say despite the small chinks (just loving that word right now), I'd return to meet right back up at Coach Meeting House some time soon. See ya there!

Yelp
Found this place by chance and it's definitely bookmarked for a second return. Cozy restaurant with friendly wait staff. The food was amazing. I ordered the chicken Parmesan ala vodka and it was by far the best chicken Parmesan I've ever had in my life. Highly recommend that dish.

Yelp
What a fabulous find ! We went to Sagamore Hill to do Teddy Roosevelt tour and popped in here to eat. Great food. Lovely drinks even though we didn't get their famous Espresso Martini ! I had a Guinness hubby an old fashioned app was yummy good empanadas Dinner French onion soup and a Rueben We will be back !

Yelp
Visted last night. My friend booked one of the globes. It was a very cool experience. We ordered food and drinks from our phones. The food was brought out as ever-one ordered. The fire-pits were a nice touch. It was nice evening and we will be visiting again once the weather is warmer. A great cozy Saturday night.

Yelp
Went with a group of 5 for an igloo reservation and the process was seamless, orders came quickly once we ordered through their online website, drinks were great and overall the food was good. We went on a Wednesday for the $5 espresso martinis and they did not disappoint! Such fun holiday options. The igloo was very warm and private, definitely worth the reservation. The staff was welcoming as well. I plan to go back and reserve another igloo slot before the season ends!

Yelp
Visited Planting Fields in Oyster Bay and was looking for a nice lunch spot in the area, the coach meeting house was the perfect fit! This cute little spot had everything from a beautiful interior, a gorgeous bar, and charming little touches. The outdoor area with the igloos in the back and firepits was so nice and cozy too. The drinks and food were both phenomenal, great comfort food and especially loved the fun slushees. Highly recommend checking out this spot! LI gem, the staff was also very friendly which was an added bonus!

Yelp
Fabulous. I love his place. This is the second time we came here and the ambiance inside is just great. The food is great and the drinks are perfect. If there was something to give guidance on i would, but it's all great. The waiters and the bartenders are helpful and friendly. This is going to be my new favorite place.
google avatar

Yelp
I love their raw oysters, baked clams, berry nut Goat cheese salad and chicken parmigiana with penne alla vodka. Our waiter Jordan was very awesome.

Yelp
I hate to write this review as I love sunset club (another restaurant same owners) in hopes that the owners will read this and make so changes. We arrived at coach meeting house and we were quickly informed all tables were reserved but we could share this one table with some other guests. No problem we do it all the time at sunset club and enjoy. We ordered drinks, settled in and began enjoying the live music. Unfortunately the music stopped after a handful of songs. We ordered another round of drinks in hopes of enjoying the second set. The musician fraternized with a large groups of guests he apparently knew and never played again. We were then told by a rude busboy we had to leave as the firepits were all reserved. We told him we had just ordered another round. His reply finish your drinks and leave. We were never informed of this time limit when we were first seated. We stayed another 20 minutes when the musician finally began to play again. Enjoyed 1 song as we felt very put off and uncomfortable. No one had arrived 1/2 hour in to claim any of the firepits. Will not be be back. Pictures show it empty when we left.

Yelp
You would think a place that offers a Sunday brunch package for $30 a person ($50 if you include bottomless drinks) would actually include what food was listed on the brunch package menu. My friend made reservations weeks ago. When we arrived we were seated outside in a cabana which was cute but balancing my plate of food on my lap wasn't what I imagined. We were sent outside because there is a bridal shower inside. After about 30 minutes they finally brought out little egg McMuffins, pancakes and French toast. We ate that and wondered when the "good stuff" was coming. Finally, after another 30 minutes, one of our party went in to inquire only to be told that they didn't have any more of the rest of the menu but they would bring more and a fruit bowl. They did bring out more pancakes and French toast that were ice cold. The fruit bowl was a bowl of strawberries and chopped apples. I should also mention that not once was a drink order taken so we went and helped ourselves to the slushies. Probably not allowed but at that point nobody cared. If they can't handle a private party and having people for brunch they shouldn't have accepted our reservation. There are many places we could have gone for brunch. We made the WRONG choice. In addition to the food being cold, it wasn't even that good. The egg McMuffin knock off didn't even have one full piece of bacon. I want to give ZERO stars! What a huge disappointment! I know a restaurant that I will never patronize again. I will say that if somehow they make it right I will edit my review. The experience we have had so far will not change so my review is needed. At this point, we are tempted to have grubhub or Uber eats deliver us son real food.

Yelp
The menu for both lunch and dinner is extensive and each and every meal I have had at the Coach Meeting House was and will continue to be spectacular! The ambiance and decor is "Ralph Lauren Circa 2024.' Perfect! Love it! The service is excellent and the distance from other tables (very important) very much surpasses many, many other restaurants.

Yelp
5/5 for ambience - we did the outdoor igloo experience which was amazing. The igloo itself is super cozy and warm. There was a space heater, as well as a heated blanket which made it super warm and comfortable. The couch was also comfortable to lay on and watch tv. There's also a fire pit right outside your igloo which you can enjoy! The food is "good" but nothing phenomenal - it's more about the experience here in my opinion. We got mozzarella sticks which were great, and vodka chicken Parmesan which was flavorful and had generous portions. We got the rainbow cheesecake for dessert which was "just ok". The way you order is pretty cool - you do it through your phone, and multiple people can order through their phones so in the end, you can pay for only your portion of the bill automatically without having to calculate it. The only two things I wasn't thrilled about were: the drinks are a bit overpriced in my opinion. And it was kind of annoying that our TV was really slow and kept crashing. Otherwise, really great experience.

Yelp
This place is the best for brunch! In the summer they have cabanas and in the winter they have igloos. Such a cute vibe for a brunch!

Yelp
After working in oyster bay for two years, and hearing so many good things, we had to try it. All i have to say is "Don't go hungry. " Made reservations 12pm for brunch weeks ago because the brunch menu on their website says: $30 per guest and an extra 20 for unlimited drinks. This is what your supposed to get as advertised on their website. Buttermilk Pancakes, Eggs Benedict, Bacon, Egg + Cheese Sliders, Home Fries, Crunchy French Toast, Scandinavian Gravlax, COLD Cured Wild Salmon, Fresh Berry + Nut Salad, Assorted Bagels, Muffins and Pastries, ADD BOTTOMLESS MIMOSA, BELLINIS AND SLUSHIES. We got the pancakes, French toast and poor excuse for egg sliders. We were told they ran out of food, at 12 on a Sunday? Yet the private party inside had everything. Nobody even came to get us drinks, we had to go help ourselves. And keep walking back to the kitchen to request them to bring food. Not worth the price. Don't go. The service sucks. We had to go to a diner after.

Yelp
We went for Christmas lunch. Had one of the igloo enjoyed that we had our own space. Martinis were amazing and worth the $17 a piece. Food was bad food wish there were more sharing types of food. Loved the experience overall

Yelp
Recently celebrated my 40th Birthday in the Indoor Dining for a Sunday Brunch. Russ and the staff were extremely accommodating making it the perfect day. Food is excellent. Ambiance is really nice both indoors and outdoors. I would recommend 20/10.

John M.

Yelp
My wife and I found this place on yelp. The food was outstanding, very fresh and delicious! In addition, the bar was really good! The bartender was exceptional. Also, they have the cylindrical heating systems out in the backyard that are amazing for watching NFL games in the cold! Highly recommend

Yelp
We came here last night with friends and it was amazing. Igloo was awesome my son had a blast and watched Disney plus as we got to catch up with our friends. Then everyone could order and pay for their own food! No figuring anything out at the end lol. Honestly can restaurants start doing this in general? It was just a perfect night out. It started to snow as we left so even more perfect. Food was very good. I of course forgot to take pics but it was because we were all having such a great time. My son loved the alla vodka I shared with him. I'd highly recommend this place.

Ron L.

Yelp
Great food, nice ambiance but the price is a little up there for what it is. But next time, perhaps we try the outside. It was raining when we went.
google avatar

David D.

Yelp
We came for the frozen drinks, but we were BLOWN AWAY by the food! Wow it was unexpectedly good. We got french onion soup, clam chowder, eggplant parm, and sauerbraten, and all of them were legit delicious, I would have been happy getting this quality at a nice sit-down restaurant (the last time I had an eggplant parm this good was at Parm in Soho). Also the staff we interacted with were super nice and friendly and kept everything safe with masks. A+++++++

Yelp
Wandered in here after a hike at the Muttontown Preserve. The igloos outside when we pulled in looked adorable and cozy and there was a DJ! We didn't have a reservation for one of them and that was fine - we sat at the bar inside and it was great. The decor is lovely, the staff couldn't be friendlier and food was delicious. I had the skinny Paloma and the Tree Hugger-a grilled veggie sandwich. It was very tasty. I would go back again and again. Great job, Coach Meeting House!

Yelp
This is an awesome place during the pandemic going on. They have 16 oz and 20 oz frozen drinks. The small is $9 the large is $14. Totally worth a stop by. They have different drinks everyday. Also last night they had a drive thru movie theater. Would love to come again to try their food when they reopen.

Alana F.

Yelp
I like never give bad reviews or rate anything but came here during regular business hours and waited like 10 minutes for frozen drink ringing the bell outside and even called inside and went in and it was an absolute ghost town in there and ended up just leaving
google avatar

Yelp
A gem off the beaten path! Great atmosphere, inside and out! Congratulations to Rustan for doing it all right! My boyfriend and I were so excited to get a reservation on a Saturday night; we chose to sit inside by the fireplace, listened to the live music while the Olympics aired on the TVs over the bar was the perfect night. The chicken parm alla vodka is a must, and I would never think to order a hot chocolate with vodka but absolutely loved it!! Will definitely go back!!
google avatar

Carl D.

Yelp
Five stars for this restaurant? Obviously! I went here with my family for New Year's Eve of 2022. I was astonished! This place had fireplaces, an awesome DJ, an igloo with lots of chairs inside, a couch, a nice table, a TV, and soft and cozy blankets! So much stuff! The service was so fast and the food was amazing! We even got hot chocolates with gold glitter and fluffy marshmallows!

Yelp
My Bacchi Ball Ladies Auxillary had our annual Spring dinner here. The place is beautiful, the food was excellent and the staff was great!! Would go back again. I recommend this to anyone. What a nice evening!

Yelp
Great service and food. Love the slushes a most try. Ambiance is nice and cozy. A lot of locals frequent it seems. Good summer spot to go have a few drinks with friends.

Yelp
Love this place so much! Come here all the time for the igloos and cabanas. Just such a good vibe and great time.

Yelp
A very nice little spot for a cocktail or a spot of lunch. The ambiance is warm and welcoming and the bar inviting. The food is fresh and tasty. All in all, just a fine little place to pass an hour or two.

Yelp
My group and I booked the igloo experience and it was probably a 6/10 or so. The DJ was great and there was an outdoor fire pit, which was a cute touch. The food, however, was pretty sub par and they didn't put much on the plate especially given the price. Specifically, the chicken fingers and fries weren't great and one of those 3 dishes came out pretty burnt. Stuffed mushrooms were oddly really good though. Most frustrating was probably the fact that there was a hair in the cookie dough and no one comped it, which I thought was odd. We didn't make a fuss, just decided not to necessarily go back. Also, the service was awful unfortunately.
