This restaurant is a different type to others in Durham, as you don't choose the dishes, but follow a set taster menu for that period of time, a few weeks. You can choose wether to add 8th course or not, or alcohol options. Portions are quite small, but because of the numbers you won't walk away hungry. And if you choose an option to acompany each dish by wine you won't walk out sober neither. Although we checked and all of us were walking in a straight line also in excellent spirits!
This experience costs much much more comparing to other restaurants in Durham, but no regrets for us, we had great time! Look at my fotos to see what dishes we had, also by the end it was difficult to remember to take pictures. They use pretty simple ingredients, like cabbage, mashed swede. But unlike in other restaurants I wasn't thinking I might want to cook that myself.
If I am made to pick on what can be improved, I'd say the decor of rooms is too sterile and feels a bit cold, but that didn't really matter when we had good company and fun at the table. Waitresses explain about each dish they bring, and each glass of wine they pour. We found it interesting and something to discuss while we tried that. They sound a bit bored repeating the same text many many times, but it's understandable, and sometimes they raise to some inspirational notes.
I strongly recommend this restaurant, that is if you have some spare money!
