We came here on Christmas Eve and had a great experience. The vibe is relaxed, nothing fancy, just good food and drinks. The menu is solid, and the wine and bourbon selection doesn’t mess around. It wasn’t packed, which surprised me, but the service was tight. Friendly, quick, and no nonsense. Aunt Bridget’s skirt steak stole the show. Cooked just right, full of flavor, and exactly what you want in a good meal. The Tiramisu was legit. All, the portions were really good for money. If you want great food, strong drinks, great value, and a spot that doesn’t try too hard, Coarse Italian delivers. We'll be back.

We had a party of 5 and the service was fabulous 👌 Thought I'm not sure which dish was best out of the 5 ordered. Each was unique in taste and spectacular in flavor. But what made them each unique was the homemade noodles! Thank you for a wonderful first time in. We loved it!! Looking forward to our next visit ❤️

Unfortunately this place really under deliver. We were looking forward to check it out for over a year and when we did, none of the meal tasted right. The staff were great and kind but food didn’t deliver. Great view and good drinks.

Google
Absolutely delicious food. Everything was so well balanced. Sometimes Italian food can be too spiced, seasoned, saucy, etc., but this food was NOT that. We had two apps and three entrees, and everything was perfectly flavored. Not bold but not subtle, not spiced but not plain, not dry but not drenched in sauce, it was so balanced.

Google
Wonderful Place for Dinner. Coarse Italian is a hidden little gem with a phenomenal atmosphere and staff and during the outdoor dining season, beautiful views of the Glenview Park Golf Club. We sat outside on beautiful sunny evening overlooking the par 3s, 9th and 10th holes, pic attached. The hostess was so welcoming and attentive as was our waitress. We ended up having a couple of the variety of beers offered on tap, they also have a great selection of other drinks and wines to select. We had the Spaghetti Carbonara, Calamari and Wings all were excellent. The wings we ordered half traditional buffalo and the other half was parmesan, again outstanding. This is a family friendly place with a kids menu but also adult ready and be ready to run into people you know as the secret is out.

Google
We tried this place for the first time last night. Everything we ordered was fantastic, but the wings and truffle fries were out of the world. Everything was fresh and well seasoned, and we have plenty of leftovers. They also have the best homemade limoncello.

Google
Great location but food quality was not there. We ordered simple spaghetti and asked to be sure it will be al dente. Spaghetti was broken in small pieces (?!) like for soup and was more on soft side than al dente. All tasted average. Definitely there are better options for good meal in Glenview

Yesterday, I threw my husband a surprise 50th birthday party at Course Italian and it was OUTSTANDING. Thanks to Josh Krueger (manager) and staff for going above and beyond. This once in a life time moment could not have not happened if it wasn’t for your great service. My guests were so pleased with the food and atmosphere. Again, Thank you Josh and Staff for everything!!!!

Yelp
We just visited for the first time and it was wonderful. How did we miss this place? Outstanding menu with very attentive service. After appetizers, I had the rigatoni with sausage & burrata with a variation on a vodka sauce and my wife ordered the prosciutto and fig pizza. Everything was perfect! We will be back and we'll bring friends.

Yelp
Food is excellent. Service is good. Not overpriced. Atmosphere is inviting. Wish more people in Glenview knew about this hidden gem. It's not just for golfers.

Yelp
Birthday/Christmas Eve celebration. Place was cute and a bit confusing to find at first (it was night time and at a gold course). I'll have to go during the day to enjoy the views. Place was decorated for the holidays and one of the few spots that I was able to get a last minute rsvp after another restaurant cancelled our rsvp because of a system error. Service and server were great, food choices were not as many as I would've desired but we managed to find our picks. Overall nice place. Like I said, I'll have to check the place out during daylight hours.

Yelp
Lovely setting for sunset dinner. I recommend the prosciutto fig sauce pizza. Thin crispy crust topped with salty, tender prosciutto topped with a sweet fig sauce...the flavor contrast is fantastic. The calamari is light, fresh, breaded in corn meal. Nice beer and cocktail menu. Service was wonderful, attentive. Highly recommend!

Yelp
First time here, we took the family for lunch Sunday after Mass. Atmosphere is nice when the weather is good. We sat outside. Id like to like this place but I don't think we'd come back for lunch. * For an Italian restaurant the pasta options at lunch are super limited And probably some of the least creative choices on their menu: bucatini with olive oil and chicken parm spaghetti. Unfortunately it was the pictures of pasta from the dinner menu that drew us in but it was a bit disappointing to learn when we got there they didn't make those dishes earlier in the day. * I ordered a Coarse Chopped Salad. I was asked what dressing I wanted. I said Caesar. The salad came out with an Italian vinaigrette and it is absolutely not chopped. I noticed a few bites in and so I don't contribute to food waste I decided to just eat it and not make the same mistake again. This was just a salad - the only reason I order chopped salads is because they are chopped. So that was a disappointment. * I ordered a Diet Coke. I never got said Diet Coke. I would have asked but there were no check ins after the mains came out. And frankly I didn't notice, but that's not my job. I think at least for lunch, the food was just okay. No one was blown away. I won't be back but I think people should give it a try and judge for themselves.

Yelp
Since we ate on the terrace, I didn't really check out inside the restaurant. The view of the golf course is beautiful. The food was delicious and one can see they take great pride in what they serve. They didn't rush us. The service was a little slow. There was the end of a gold outing while we were eating. The guys were a little rowdy and smoking cigars. Once they left our meal was basically over. So that wasn't too pleasant. But we still enjoyed ourselves.

Yelp
Love love love this restaurant! The service was terrific, the food was delicious. Can't wait to come during the summer, there's a large outdoor area and the owner said they have live music in the summer.

Yelp
Had my baby shower here in their private room. The room has a nice view of the golf course and the service was great! Not only would I book this again for another event, but I also had a lot of my guests say they would book an event here as well. Also pretty affordable considering other quotes I was receiving from other venues.

Yelp
First time dining here. It was crowded, so that was a good sign. There Ice Tea was terrible tasting and I should have sent it back. Our group ordered various items. Salads were very good. The Chicken Rice soup was a large bowl and tasty. It came with garlic bread which wasn't toasted enough. The Eggplant Parm was huge and good but have had better. I ordered the Meatball appetizer which was good but not enough sauce. The toast points that came with it was dry with a burnt taste. Service was good. I would return for the salads and to try their sandwiches. $20 price range.

Yelp
Great outdoor seating...& that's it. Horrible service- even after we complained to manager, nothing changed. Took 20 min for drinks, over 85 min for food. Everyone around us felt the same pain. Disappointed that they didn't say or do anything to show that they were sorry. Won't be back e

Yelp
Great food, great service, nice venue. I went to Coarse Italian for the first time last night and loved it! I will definitely be back!!

Yelp
This restaurant is a hidden gem, quite literally. I had no idea if I was in the right place as I drove into the Glenview Golf Course. I was, and was rewarded with a wonderful meal. The room itself is rather nondescript but nice enough, and the sound level was perfect. In the daytime or nice weather, the view and the patio would be lovely. The food was just terrific. We shared the eggplant stack, which was as good as it gets. The eggplant was breaded and fried perfectly, and the red sauce was exceptional. The whitefish was also delicious and was beautifully plated. The pappardelle was made with fresh made pasta and the bolognese, again, really good. We can't wait to go back.

Yelp
Took the wife out on date night to this restaurant. She was a little apprehensive because it's located in the Glenview Park District golf club. Well.... After the dinner... she was surprised at the quality and how nice the atmosphere was on the outdoor porch overlooking the golf course. The food was outstanding. Top notch. We shared the salad and the entree. The grilled ceaser salad was unbelievable. Fantastic flavor from the grill. Try it. The enuocci dish was also fantastic. Add an order of meatballs and we were full. I wanted to pass on the desert.... But who can say no on date night???? Brownie sunday. Whew. It was a great topper to a great meal. Highly recommended. Bravo.

Yelp
We hosted a meet and greet for work and our team had a wonderful evening and delicious meals! The staff and management are easy to work with, accommodating vegetarian and non-vegetarian requests. I would highly recommend the venue for small/intimate or large gatherings!! The outdoor seating has fantastic views and a relaxing atmosphere!

Yelp
This place is so over priced for what you get and not impressively tasty by any means. The only reason it got two stars is because we sat outside and had a beautiful view.

Luigi B.

Yelp
Without any doubt, the best restaurant in Glenview. The food the staff and the location are amazing and the manager (Fidel) is very attentive. I highly recommend them. Last night my wife and I took two friends there and they all raved about the food.

Yelp
This is an update to prior reviews. Was here for dinner recently and was still disappointed. The chicken wings were ok, but the Coarse Chopped Salad was a joke. Firstly, it wasn't chopped andd additionally, there was very little cucumber, radish, olive or tomato. I told the waiter (Fidel) how lame it was and he laughed. Dengeos has a better salad for 9.95. My last visit here.

Yelp
My first time here since this restaurant reopened under Coarse Italian. It was girls night out and this place didn't disappoint. Al fresco dinner with patio heater and a beautiful view of the gold course. A pretty nice wine list to start. I had the redWe shared the prosciutto wrapped goat cheese stuffed dates and they were so good. For dinner I got the Short Rib Gnocchi and it was absolutely delish! The meat was so tender and such great flavor. I will definitely be back again. UPDATE: Just had curb side pick up tonight with my husband and he loved it. We had the Pepperoni & Hot Honey Thin Crust Pizza. Absolutely delish. Its not that spicy more of sweet heat. We also shared the arancini. A great flavor and a traditional offering with rice & peas inside with a light breading. And we also shared the grilled romaine Caesar Salad with a nice charred flavor with shaved parm & croutons. All fabulous! This place is a must try!

Yelp
This has been long overdue, so my apologies for the delay. I had heard great reviews from numerous friends and neighbors, so I chose this place to host my wife's 40th birthday party, which was a SURPRISE. The communication with Franco (proprietor) from the start until the day of the event was phenomenal. I gave him free reign to choose the appetizers, main course options, desert and beverages for 50 people. Needless to say, we LOVED the experience and were extremely impressed. I should note that the staff was extremely accommodating, attentive to our needs, and friendly. I would highly recommend choosing this venue for your next important event, and I promise that you will not be disappointed.

Yelp
It's a decent place to eat at and definitely a good spot if people want to stay after golf for lunch or dinner. The food and service, however, for me, doesn't live up to other Italian places. Just a note, I think the seating should be a little more spaced out at this time right now, but it's still spacious, nonetheless. The service was good and attentive overall. I started with the prosciutto-wrapped dates, buffalo wings, and arancini. My favorite appetizer was the dates. Good balance of salty prosciutto and the richness of the goat cheese along with the sweet dates. Highly recommend for an elegant appetizer. The buffalo wings were well cooked and the sauce was nice and tangy. The arancini were a little heavy and rich, not my overall favorite of the meal. For entrees, I sampled the spaghetti polpette (spaghetti and meatballs) and the crispy stuffed chicken. The crispy stuffed chicken was delicious. The risotto stuffing was flavored nicely and had a perfect creamy texture. The spaghetti polpette was alright. I found the spaghetti to be overly sauced and a tad overcooked. The meatballs were kind of tough and bland; I really don't recommend this dish at all. I ended with bambolini and while they were good with the chocolate sauce, the inside was a little flat and one-note overall. In all, it's a decent place, not a place I would rush to come back to, but most everything was good tasting.

Yelp
As a casual fan of golf, I'm aware that golf has a reputation of being an elitist, non-inclusive sport. Today, I personally experienced that while having lunch at Coarse Italian which is located at the Glenview Park Golf Club. From the multiple sideways glances I observed being given to my family from the club members to being ignored when I made eye contact and said hello to another, it was definitely not a welcoming environment. It also was not pleasant to be scolded by a golf course attendant and told to stay at my table when I briefly brought my little girl to the edge of the practice putting green to show it to her and tell her a little bit about golf. In addition, the service was slow and inattentive. Water glasses were never refilled and we had to make requests for obvious things, like silverware. While our server was nice enough, she had a deer in the headlights look and appeared overwhelmed. The mediocre food put the finishing touches on this negative experience. Burgers were overcooked and pastas undercooked. While the manager did try to make it right, at least with the pasta, at that point we just wanted to leave.

Yelp
Went here for a birthday dinner after hearing lots of great reviews. I was completely unaware that this is part of a golf course and it is a little confusing as to finding the entrance. Once inside the restaurant itself it is very pretty, with TVs showing sports but no sound and a full bar. There is a small dining area with a door to a much larger maybe private room. In the summer there is seating outside. The food was excellent and the wine was good. The confusing thing to me was there was only three other people in the entire restaurant. It was a Wednesday night but still.....We even met the owner and the woman who was the hostess was also the waitress she said it is usually more consistently busy. I will definitely be back.

Yelp
This place is a hidden gem. Great service, amazing food, really nice atmosphere on the golf course. Highly recommended.

John B.

Yelp
The Summer Gnocchi comes with tomato sauce although the menu does not mention this, so this might be an unwelcome surprise. The Crispy Stuffed Chicken was delicious. The view was excellent.

Renee D.

Yelp
Excellent outdoor area!!! The food was wonderful & do they know how to make an Old Fashion drink. It's a little old school feel like a supper club. They had Frank Sinatra playing in the background. Very relaxing. Absolutely beautiful view of the pond & golf course. Thus the name "Coarse Italian". This is what we are: Burrata Salad Lemon Chicken with Spinach Salmon Piccata with broccoli Lemon ricotta donuts Everything was delicious!! They kept cleaning & good service. Definitely will be going back!
google avatar

Rich C.

Yelp
The food here is OUTSTANDING!!! A bit high on the pricing though which makes this an occasional "treat" destination. Not trying to turn home diners away, but if you want to enjoy this fair at your OWN DINNER TABLE, I suggest you pick up your order as delivery can get QUITE EXPENSIVE!!! Even with DashPass, the 2 large pizzas, AND ONLY 2 LG. PIZZAS, cost me $75 to have delivered, and they WEREN'T LOADED WITH INGREDIENTS!!! One was the pepperoni and burnt honey pizza, and the other only had green pepper and mushrooms...NO CHEESE EITHER, and the bill was over $75 for delivery!!! Get me once. NEVER TWICE!! It was nice while it lasted!!!!
google avatar

Kelly B.

Yelp
While it is a nice spot to eat, the food is sub-par. Burgers are tiny bit of meat on a huge bun. Charred Caesar is half a head of romaine with globs of dressing and cheese. Eggplant Parm is bland and full of raw breadcrumbs, hardly any eggplant, just all tomato sauce. Very disappointed
google avatar

Paul M.

Yelp
Brutal! Not quite sure how this place has maintained a 4.5 rating but it's really below average at best. Wife and I had date night Sunday and ordered the "grilled" calamari. Might have been the worst dish I've ordered at a restaurant in recent memory. Rubbery, fishy and just over sauced. Ironically the neighboring table ordered the same thing and also sent it back. Second coarse was "chopped" salad. Ok but not chopped and nor very much flavor either. Wife had shrimp pasta which was just ok. My chicken risotto was solid and very filling. They took the calamari off the bill and gave us dessert as compensation. View and service is really good but I would not recommend this place overall.

Angela N.

Yelp
Coarse Italian at the Glenview Park Golf Club was the perfect place to host our outdoor, intimate, summer wedding. The view was spectacular, the food was delicious and the service was impeccable. Josh, the event coordinator, and his staff did a fantastic job executing all of our plans, making sure our event ran as smoothly as possible. We can not thank everyone at Coarse Italian enough for playing an intricate role in helping us create a magical evening. If you are looking for a venue to host your event, we highly recommend Coarse Italian at the Glenview Park Golf Club.

Yelp
Had take out tonight due to the virus, I had the lasagna it was delicious my compliments to the hostess Bridget, who brought the car into the chef Franco it was delicious look forward to visiting the restaurant in person when this is all over! Great owners! Gary Blaha

Shirl F.

Yelp
They have a very nice variety of Good food. The service is good. Had excellent pasta with sausage and broccolini. Very light sauce. Beautiful view of the golf course.

Yelp
My parents went here on Wednesday for there a anniversary! They loved there dishes. My mom loved her salmon and my dad liked his skirt steak. And they said that the appetizers were really good! The carrot cake was the best one I have ever tried! I will return and try it my self!
google avatar

Gray G.

Yelp
Hidden gem in Glenview. Only been here twice because we just found out about it a month or so ago. The food and service are great. I'll be back. Their outdoor area will be a great place to have drinks and watch the sunset in the summer.
google avatar

Sarah K.

Yelp
I absolutely love it here! Went once for dinner and once for brunch. The staff is amazing, drinks are on point, and food is absolutely delicious!! It is in a golf coarse so be careful not to miss the turn when entering the parking lot (it's a little hidden). All in all it's a great place to take the family, friends, or go on a date! You can really tell the owner and manager(s) put a lot of work into this place and it shows!
google avatar

Joy S.

Yelp
This restaurant is AMAAAAZING!!! I'm obsessed with the crispy chicken with the lemon cream sauce and the arancini!!! Look for the bartender, Fidel!!! He's got all the best suggestions for both drinks and foods!!!

Reenie M.

Yelp
Wow!!! Just picked up dinner tonight from Course Italian on the Golf course in Glenview. Ahhhmazing!!! I had the arugula salad with chicken which was phenomenal. Probably one of the best salads I've had. We also had calamari served with a lemon aioli. Also delish. We will definitely be back!!

Stephanie C.

Yelp
Tried this place last night. It's a little hard to find but there are signs off Shermer and near the parking lot. Basically you turn into the entrance that is the golf course and the restaurant is in the clubhouse. The parking is behind the clubhouse (the front door faces the golf course). Anyway, I had the braised short rib gnocchi and it was really good. So many places don't know how to make good gnocchi and I'm so happy this place does! It's handmade and very soft and pillowy. The braised beef was also tender and flavorful. I did knock a star off due to the brussel sprout and squash appetizer. The balance of this dish was wrong. Earthy vegetables with balsamic dressing is classic but I think I agree with other reviewers in that this dish was overdressed with balsamic dressing. The result was an unbalanced dish that is sour and hides the great flavors of both the brussel sprout and squash. I'll be back for the braised short rib gnocchi.

Olga L.

Yelp
Thank you for excellent food and service. Delightful! I was very surprised how lovely an experience it was. Great relief from COVID-19 stress.
google avatar

M T.

Yelp
The restaurant is nice and the service was very attentive, but the food I had was not great. The stuffed mushrooms had too much gravy/sauce on them and their was a brussell sprouts appetizer dish that was heavy on the dressing as well. I had a pork chop entree with endive and there was so much salt on it that I just could not eat it. I was with new friends so I did not want to make a big deal about it.
google avatar

Yelp
Ordered for a Quarantine Birthday Dinner, but it sort fell flat of the previous reviews. The order taker seemed slightly overwhelmed or just downright annoyed with serving size questions my husband had, but he was simply trying to gauge how much food to order for our little celebration of 7 people. We ordered stuffed mushrooms (oddly watered down) lasagna (meh) and a few orders of ribs. Would like to hope it was just an off night....maybe we will try again once the city returns to normal.

Nicole N.

Yelp
Tried for the first time we live considerably close, very good food! Amazing view, I kept telling my fiancé I felt like we were on vacation or something. I would definitely go again on a nice day/evening. The staff was very nice our server Rebecca was very kind and attentive! I would have given 5 stars but I feel like for an "Italian" restaurant could have had more pasta options or more authentic Italian dishes I would say the menu is more American with an Italian nod. With that view though and scenery I would just go back for drinks, warm bread, olive oil and cheese!

Bruce S.

Yelp
Had a very nice dining experience at Coarse Italian (Glenview Park Golf Course) last night outside under their patio heaters on their veranda. The stuffed mushrooms appetizer/small plate was delicious, as was our two entrees of short rib gnocchi and crispy stuffed chicken. Service was attentive and very good as well. It was nice to get out to dine. We will be returning soon as the menu has numerous plates we would like to try.
google avatar

Sarah B.

Yelp
Fantastic ambiance and service. Great to have a REAL Italian experience with real Italian food. I highly recommend this gem.

Chris B.

Yelp
Great restaurant that we never knew was there. Was looking for something new and found them on Yelp read the reviews and they were all pretty spot on....This is a hidden gem!! I would recommend to anyone and loved sitting outside over looking the golf course. Get the stuffed chicken it's amazing!!!

Nick P.

Yelp
Great food great service and awesome setting. Hidden gem in the north shore. We went with a party of 6 and all loved what we had.

Floyd K.

Yelp
I tried Coarse Italian for the first time and really enjoyed myself. From the minute we walked in we were treated with a smile and our server Fidel was nothing short of excellent. Started out with the calamari that was incredibly fresh with a light sweet sauce. Not your typical fried calamari but very tasty. The charred Caesar salad was really good with one of the best Caesar dressings I've had. I had the short rib gnocchi. It was very decadent. Melted in your mouth and the sauce was rich and delicious. My wife had the risotto. I tried it and it was so flavorful just delicious!!! For dessert we were so full we ordered the donuts to go and later enjoyed them at home. Really good!!! During Covid I have had bad service at most restaurants, but I am extremely understanding. I was really surprised to go to a restaurant and have such top notch service. I would definitely recommend the restaurant. I can't wait to go back and try the pizza after the amazing charred Caesar along with the tasty margarita I had. All my friends have been telling me for awhile you have to try Coarse now I get it and so happy I did!!!

Brock W.

Yelp
Coarse Italian is our go-to restaurant! My wife and I are from Tennessee and any time friends or family come to visit we always take them here. Franco always takes care of us, we have yet to have a bad experience!

K A.

Yelp
Amazing food! Ordered curbside due to the current stay at home order! It was delicious ordered Short Rib gnocchi (my husbands favorite)! We will definitely go back, really great dish!

David M.

Yelp
After hearing good things for months, we finally ordered take-out from Coarse. What a hidden gem! We ordered the stuffed mushroom app, chicken limone and the risotto stuffed chicken -- all were truly delicious. This place will be on our short list! And, the ambiance of sitting on the covered porch overlooking the golf course will definitely get us to eat there too.
