Coastal Bar and Grill

Houck's Grille has existed since 1986. We had been there before once many many years ago and decided to revisit again recently. We were there around 6:30pm on a Thursday evening. They had a private party at their covered outdoor patio; the dining room was about 30% full. The hostess gave us a choice to pick where we wanted to sit which we appreciated. Our server Brooke provided a solid 5* service! We were greeted promptly, warmly, and genuinely right after we sat down. The pace of the food serving was perfect, and she did check in with us a few times throughout our meal to ensure we had everything we needed and to refill the drinks. As for the food, although the prices might not seem cheap on the menu, every item we ordered, the portions sure aligned with the price points, they were all in decent size and tasted good! The restaurant got busy later in the evening and was about 80-90% full. So make sure to go early if you want to grab a good spot in the dining room or take advantage of their happy hours 50% starter promotion (Tue - Fri 4pm-6pm, Starters ranging from $12-$18). For the bill, If you choose to pay your bill with cash, you get a ~10% discount. This was a good offer to customers and also to help the restaurant with their cash flow. They also have a birthday special with $27 off from lunch or dinner entrees, must be on birthday and will need to show ID. This is definitely a good promotion and we will plan to take this advantage when we have a birthday celebration. All in all, we had a great experience and will definitely revisit and will recommend Houck's Grille to anyone looking for great food and great service!

I had the shrimp two ways original and coconut. Ask for mango sauce to go with it is is good. Had tossed salad with blue cheese and side was collard greens. The collard greens were too salty. My friend Jack had half order of the catfish and the creamy yellow corn side with iced tea and white wine. His catfish was excellent. The shrimp and salad were good. I’ll be back with my boyfriend Rob for trivia night.

The service and atmosphere was top tier! We tipped 25% but the food was just ok Oyster Rockefeller, (nothing good about it) Imperial Fish Dinner (fish cooked perfectly just bland flavor), brocolli was seasoned well and cooked well, lobster bisque was superb, clam chowder amazing, Crab cake sandwich (good and meaty not a bunch of fillers which was a plus). I would return and try fried foods next time to see if my rating would go up. I really did like the location, staff, atmosphere. They have 4.4 star rating so I am definitely going to give it another try.

We wanted to give Coastal a try as we really liked Houcks. While the wings were good, I wish the menu listed there were only 8 wings for $16. I wouldn’t call the wings jumbo at all, not worth $2 a wing. The sauce however was great. The chicken tender kids meal was good and I love the honey mustard. The brussel sprouts were really tasty but had way too much oil.

We liked Houcks in the past so we decided to give the new “Coastal” a try. It didn’t disappoint. The crispy Brussels sprouts were by far our favorite! We sat on the outside patio and really enjoyed it. It’s easy to pay here too, you can easily scan the receipt and pay from your phone.

We recently had my husbands 40th birthday party on the patio at Houck’s grill. It was awesome! Food was delicious and service was great! They make it very easy to book and their party packages are affordable. Also the patio was comfortable and warm during a party in late November. We would definitely book an event here again.

Stopped by Houcks for the first time to play Tuesday night trivia and enjoyed our time here. We got an order of the Black and Blue Chips, as well as an order of Chicken Wings and both were very tasty! We'll definitely be back and recommend you check them out as well

Enjoy the atmosphere and attentive staff. The chicken looked so good. Unfortunately, it lacked seasoning/flavor. The side dishes were delicious.

We had an event here at Coastal and it was legitimately the best experience ever. Katelyn and Molly were fantastic to work with and were so kind, professional, attentive, and thorough. The food was absolutely amazing! The filet was so tender it was like butter! The appetizers were luxurious and well presented. You could tell the chef took great pride in the meal he prepared. Everyone else who had the salmon and the grilled chicken said they were good as well. Several people said it was the best salmon they ever had. The drinks that were crafted were top notch as well. We will definitely have more events here and will come for dinner and lunches as well. Best party I've ever been to.

Excellent food, service and drinks. I went with a group of ladies and we all enjoyed our meal and craft cocktails. The baked goat cheese was our favorite thing to share.

I tried coming to the bar for dinner and a drink just after 8:30 pm (on a Saturday) and the bartender tells me curtly that they are closing. To me that is ridiculous for a restaurant that is supposed to be open until 11 pm! I probably eat here once a month on average, and it hasn't been consistent but this is the last straw for me.

The band was excellent!! The service was poor and we had to ask for things multiple times. The food was mediocre, and the prime rib was 75% inedible due to so much fat. We will be back for fun bands, but eat elsewhere first.

Don't have a photo of the food because my scallops and risotto was too good to stop for a pic. The drinks were fantastic-had a Straight out of Roswell and a Summer Lovin'. Delightful hush puppies made of grits and a perfect bowl of gumbo. Our server, Lani, was attentive and efficient, terrific service overall! Even the kids menu was sufficient enough for our picky eater-she had the shrimp and broccoli. Thanks for a great Friday night dinner after a very long week! Will definitely be back!

Coastal's new chef has done a super job of changing the menu and making sure the food is fresh and delicious. The change in food quality has been remarkable. Service is always great, especially with Nate and/or Randy behind the bar. The ambiance could use some improvement, but I expect when people rediscover the tasty food and friendly service, they will be able to spruce the place up a bit.

I went for the dueling pianos. It was a tough night for the pianos as well as the restaurant. The first hour or so the piano players started off as a 4 out of 10 with one of the performer s on his phone on stage. They need to definitely need to work on their vocals. They hit better in the last hour of a three hour performance they probably reached a 6 out 10 on the karaoke scale. We were set up in a back room. 10$ per person cover. Not adequately staffed. It took almost a 30 minutes for the bartender to come out to greet us and get us drinks. As far as I could tell we had two bartenders and a server for close to 100ppl. Which meant about 1 drink an hour. No chance of DUI at this bar. The food was tasty but delivered cold. Out of 6 ppl I. My group 2 got their food in 30 min 3 more got theirs 90 minutes later and the last was delivered cold at about 2 hours in. Very tasty but cold so I had to take it home to get hot microwaved food. I realize staffing is challenging these days and food prices are high but for $25 per plate average I have higher expectations than I would at let's say a Denny's

With so many wonderful restaurant options in Roswell, don't waste your time on overpriced bar food and sub-standard bar options. This is just Houck's less improved. Don't water your $$. Go somewhere descent. Not hard to do.

I use to love this place, but I am done.. They continuously change the menu and their chef is Very Rude....

Went there on a Thursday night for a small birthday party. When we walked in it felt like a meat locker. But once we pointed that out, management quickly responded. Our server was in training and was awesome. Very attentive and asked questions if he didn't know. Drinks were good. Martini- 'the Roswell' could have been a tad more aggressive for the price. Menu was interesting but overall the food was good. It did take a while for the kitchen to get our order to the table. But who knows......?!? Maybe they were short staffed. Complimentary grit puffs were provided for the table. Sesame Ahi Tuna Salad was good. Smoky Rueben was good, needed a little extra sauce. Fries were excellent and crispy. Tacos won the best selection for the night. Flavors were all there and the green beans were al dente and in my opinion perfect. My father said they could have cooked for approximately 60 secs more. Staff was nice. Gen manager came by table which was appreciated. Would like to see some steamed muscles or oysters since it is a seafood restaurant. 3.5/5.00

Today I was with a group of eight "older" women friends at The Coastal Bar and Grill for lunch. They accommodated us perfectly by giving us a large quiet table on the patio so we could face each other and (most importantly) hear each other. Every one of the women raved about their meal. The food was fresh and delicious. Our server could not have been more delightful. She was attentive and welcoming. We never felt rushed. I wanted to write a review because this restaurant was formerly owned by someone else and had frankly gone down hill. The new owners have stepped up their game and have made wonderful improvements. Before we left we agreed that the Coastal Bar and Grill will be on our regular rotation of lunch restaurants.

I ordered the burger, was definitely a frozen patty tasted just like a bubba burger from the store. Wouldn't recommend this place.

Beware of eating at this restaurant. I was there last night and had my debit card compromised by the service and by the time I woke up this morning had over $500 worth of tickets bought through Ticketmaster. The management was rude and hung up on me when I asked them to research this I have now called Ticketmaster and they will be able to find out who did this. I have also filed a police report.

We went to a private event here last night and the owner came by and talked about dinner so we decided to stay after and eat. We are so glad we did! We had scallops, grouper, and the crème brûlée and it was all delicious. Can't wait to go back.

Just had my birthday brunch there with 15 people and the buffet (only $20!!) was delicious!! Great service, and the manager, Jimmy, was super attentive.

Good location, attentive service but food was disappointing. The crab cake was tasty and the clam chowder was good but not special. The fried calamari was the real problem. I had to send it back to the kitchen. The batter was ok but the calamari was so rubbery that it was inedible. As a relatively new restaurant to the area they should try harder.

Came here on a recommendation. Fried shrimp was probably the worst we have ever had. Crab cake dinner was fine, not worth the price but ok. Service was good just not sure with all the options in that area if I would go back. They seem to get other really good reviews so maybe we hit on a bad night.

The food here is amazing. We pick different appetizers every time we come and have dubbed each one our favorite - only to be replaced by the new choice on our next visit. The main course has always been wonderful too.

Attended a Meet and Greet that was supporting the Hurricane Helene relief effort in Ashville. The food was fantastic. They were featuring their banquet and event space. If you have a company or Civic group event need, you should really plan it at Coastal. Great service and food presentation. Also check out their new menu. The new Executive Chef has many new dishes that are wonderful. The new GM Jimmy is really assembling at great staff.

We really enjoyed it! Great, friendly service. Lots to choose from on the menu and the elote is SO good!

We love this restaurant!!! It is soooo much better than Houck's. The quality of food, servers and ambiance is soooo much nicer. Thank you for a great and upscaled experience!!

Once upon a time, the Roswell Tap was an excellent restaurant. The owner Sean allowed someone to run it while he pursued other business interest and the dude ran it straight into the ground. Now with Houck's, the same guy was starting with a place that wasn't all that good to begin with and made it worse. Staff is leaving en masse. It may not make it into 2024. Absentee owners live in another state.

Went today after church to try it out because we saw that they had made some recent positive menu changes. Stepped inside at 12:15pm. One table was occupied with a group of 6. We stood at the hostess stand for 3 minutes and never saw a single employee- no hostess, no bartender, no servers, no one! We turned around and left.

Mediocre at its best. Went on a Sunday for dinner and while there were not many tables occupied, the service was not the greatest either.

My wife booked us in for New Year's it was a terrific time The food was great the entertainment was great I'm a happy duck :-) Happy New Year The Glow band was terrific

We went there because we we going to Houcks. Houcks is gone and these guys are here. Place was half empty on a Friday night at 7:00. Cuban sandwich was cold with no mustard. Food overall left much to be desired. Waitress got an attitude when she saw that we did not like anything we ordered. Everything was substantially less than half eaten. Manger came over and we politely told him what we thought. He seemed top be a nice guy. We did get the full bill. What a guy! From a business standpoint I guess he thought he would never see us again and he wanted to cement that thought. DO NOT GO THERE! Houcks is gone forever

Just had lunch at Coastal for the first time today with two friends. Food was excellent and service was prompt. I had Rueben with fried okra. one friend had the catfish and other friend had shrimp tacos. We topped off with keylime pie for desert. I highly recommend Coastal and I absolutely will be going back.

We always enjoy going to Coastal Bar and Grill. The food is always excellent! The service is equally excellent -- in particular Anthony has been our server on a couple of occasions and he is friendly, knowledgeable, and very responsive to our questions and needs! The friendly ambiance is the "icing on the cake"! Peter G.

I was hopeful that this new look, management, and food might bring this place to our favs list. Unfortunately, that is not the case. The food is simply not good. Our party had a variety of items on the menu and each person was disappointed. The staff is not bad but they are not going above and beyond. My recommendation is just to drive to Crabapple Tavern.

First visit. Had a great time last Saturday enjoying dinner and the Mike Veal concert. We were one of the first groups (4) to arrive in order to enjoy dinner and then the show. It filled up pretty quick before the show. There was only one bar tender so drinks came out very slow. Food was slow as well with just 2 waiters. Hopefully this will get worked out. Could have sold us twice to three times as many drinks if we could just have had them served. I know that's important to the success of the business. Hope to come back soon to try again.

Unbelievable scallops and grouper. Entrees were some of the best we've had in Roswell. Well done!

My friend and I ate lunch there today, and I have to say it was a great choice! My friend got the shrimp po boy, and I got the grouper sandwich, and neither of us could believe how fresh and delicious it was, so far from the beach! We also got the gumbo, and it's not usually my choice, but it was truly a great surprise because it was absolutely delicious, full of rich flavor and shrimp and sausage. It was pricey, but worth every cent and for sure, will be a lunch destination in the future. Our server, Lindsey, was just wonderful, taking care of us like we were her grandmothers! That goes a long way in how I regard a restaurant.

We are enjoying working our way through the new menu! I absolutely loved the goat cheese dip! I had the Maple Salmon last time and it was awesome! Tonight, Coastal had a Day of The Dead Festival and we had such a great time! My son decorated cookies, made a mask, they had face painting and even a mariachi band! We loved watching a movie while dining too! Sarah, our hostess with the mostest, made sure my little one enjoyed his night and was just so sweet and accommodating. Our servers ROCKED too! They went above and beyond to make our night special. We look forward to returning and trying more items on the menu. Everything has been super yummy so far!! 5 stars!

Not much has changed at this restaurant. It is still the same staff/owner. Not impressed. So we were really exited to try the "new" restaurant but we were just as disappointed as the first time when it was Houck's. Something interesting, they serve collards but they do not have pepper sauce. Right?! My cocktail was not good either.

Recently, we dined at Coastal Bar and Grill with friends. We were always regulars at Houck's so we wanted to try Coastal. It did not disappoint. Our server, Melissa, was THE BEST server we have ever had. She made sure everyone enjoyed his/her meal. I had the salmon and crispy brussels sprouts, both were divine. My husband and friend had the shrimp which they raved about. Our other friend ordered the ribs, and she enjoyed every bite! The wine list was reasonably priced and included many of our favorites. We will definitely be going back soon!

Great bar service. Excellent event calendar including live music. Management is present and attentive. Fresh new menu

Service was great but the food was awful and I mean awful. I got the fried shrimp with onion rings and it was disgusting. It was rubbery and overcooked and looked just plain awful. My husband got grouper with grits and collard greens. He said the collards were good but the rest was just plain with no seasoning. For an appetizer we got the nachos with chicken and they were fair. I was shocked at how bad the food was and we spent over a hundred dollars.

I'm leaving two stars instead of one, because the service was mediocre, and not horrible. I ordered the maple glazed salmon, and it tasted like it was defrosted in the microwave, and thrown on the grill for a minute just so it could come to the table with grill marks. Our server apologized, but never really offered to do anything. No manager ever came to the table to check on us. I paid full price for a $26 entree that I might have taken three bites of. I doubt we'll be back.

I really like the new management. sorry that some of the staff has left but I think the change was warranted. great local place and I see incremental improvements over Houck.
