"Sandboxes and a reconfigured vintage truck bed form the centerpiece of Coastal Crust food truck’s outdoor Neapolitan wood-fired pizza pie kid zone. Imagine Lord of the Flies without the necessity of killing your own dinner, add craft beer and wine, and you get the idea. Caution, for parents of runners and climbers: You might need to post an adult on the Coleman Boulevard side of the outdoor dining area to catch any mini MacGyvers looking to break out." - Erin Perkins, Erin Ziegler

Went to Coastal Crust for lunch after our tiny wedding at the Village Library. It was our first visit, and the food was so good! We had the Mushroom Nero pizza and an order of the burrata. I had to pause for a minute because the first bite of the pizza was *that good.* The staff also brought over a meat and cheese plate to celebrate our wedding. Everyone was so kind and friendly, and we really appreciated it! I'd definitely visit again!

Atmosphere is cool, but the food ND service were very bad. I ordered 2 pizzas (fig and prosciutto, and cheese pizza), and both were floppy, greasy, and over charred. My 4 year old enjoyed her slice of cheese, and she also really enjoys walmart brand microwave pizza. The bartender had an attitude all 3 times I went to pick up a drink. She was very unpleasant. I'll post a pic of the napkin after the grease from half a slice dripped on it.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Coastal Crust Mount Pleasant – Where the Pizza’s Hot, the Vibes Are Chill, and the Kids Don’t Whine (Much) So, here’s the scene: The Miles Fam just wrapped up a sun-drenched, sand-covered day at Isle of Palms. We were tired, hungry, slightly sunburnt, and dangerously close to a family-wide hanger meltdown. Enter: Coastal Crust — aka pizza paradise with a side of playground magic. Parking? Easy. Like “I didn’t even have to circle the lot while mumbling bad words under my breath” easy. Ordering? Walk-up window. No menus flying, no hostess stand confusion, just straight-to-the-point: What pizza dreams are we making happen today? We grabbed two pies (adult version and kiddo edition), a couple of cannolis because duh, and Diet Cokes (not ice cold, but hey, we’re not fancy). Ten minutes later: BOOM. Our pizzas land. Hot, crispy, wood-fired greatness straight from a flame-licked oven sent by the pizza gods. We claimed a table, planted our number, and let the gremlins (aka our children) loose on the play area that’s literally an old truck turned into a mini jungle gym. It was like a Pinterest board exploded in the best possible way. Meanwhile, live music floated through the air, the sun started setting, and we actually got to sit and eat while the kids were happily distracted. If you’re a parent, you know that’s the real five-star experience. Atmosphere? 10/10. Food? 🔥. Family vibes? Immaculate. Coastal Crust — officially Miles Fam approved. Would eat again. Would bring the kids again. Would probably not share my cannoli next time. Stay crusty, The Miles Fam

Google
Food was good- pepperoni and basil on gluten free crust & another pepperoni on regular crust. Pizza is wood fired and has that thin crust, rustic, floury thing going on. The kids tried the hot honey on theirs and loved it! The meat and cheese board was good as well. We went on a weekend and there was competing music between here and the bar across the street, lots of people, lots of kids playing on the playground in the seating area.

We fought house flies the entire time we were eating. Weird sodas wasn't that good. Pizza came out and wasn't even cut. A lot of these places are getting tips before they actually do anything because you pay up front. I think I'm going to automatically stop giving an up front tip. The pizza crust was good. Barely any sauce. I'll go somewhere else and drop $100 bucks. Sorry.

We were really disappointed with our experience here. We ordered a gluten-free, dairy-free pizza and it arrived with half dairy and half non-dairy cheese—something that could cause serious issues for me and my friend as we have severe allergies and intolerances. When we reached out, they did make a replacement, but unfortunately, it wasn’t much better. The second pizza was covered in flour (defeating the point of gluten-free), the crust was burnt and had a bitter, unpleasant taste, and there was barely any sauce at all. It felt thrown together and rushed. We appreciate the effort to fix the first mistake, but both pizzas were inedible and left us feeling like dietary needs weren’t taken seriously. Would not recommend for anyone with food sensitivities or anyone in general. Especially for the price ($25!!)

Today we visited the pizzeria not for the first time, but we encountered such horror, such awfulness for the first time. The pizza was not just overcooked, it was completely burnt both on top and bottom. The vegetables and meat were completely dried out. Thanks to the staff for promptly refunding us for the ruined dinner without any questions.

The staff were very nice! The salad was delicious!! The pizza was fresh tasting and fantastic!! (And we are from NJ - so that says a lot! Lol). Great atmosphere!

Yelp
Our standard pizza place! The pizzas are great but when we tear ourselves away, the salads and pastas are as well. The gluten free crust is not the standard store bought crust. The outside seating is our favorite dine-in spot. We can walk there and sit outside on nice days. The service rotates often. Mostly younger adults. They tend to socialize a bit more than typical, but are fairly attentive.

Yelp
I'm trying to be a little softer with my reviews so that I'll when I finally die, it will be painless and I'll bypass the security line and stroll straight through the gates of heaven. First off, I really dug the vibe of this place - outside, heat lamps, a candy truck and some jawn playing Dave Matthews over to the left of the eternally locked single restroom, so kudos to that. However, I found this pizza to be embarrassingly bad for the size and quality versus the price paid. Thin pizza is good, but not when it flops down like a dead man's skin due to being undercooked. Being a good sport, I made the mistake of allowing my date to pick, and she chose the fig and prosciutto with truffle oil (of course). At best, this is a $14.00 pizza, which still may push it, but $20.00 for raw dough and minimal toppings is borderline insulting. If I were exploring alone, I probably would have switched out and got something else (or requested a pizza that was actually cooked) but visiting solely for the food was secondary that night, though judging by its price and appearance, it finished a distant third.

Yelp
Smart person whomever owns this lot. There is a coffee shop, pizza spot, creamy truck and a playground all in the same spot. It's a one stop spot. The pizza was definitely Neapolitan and delicious. The supremo was very flavorful. This place is definitely targeted for families, and I'm all for it.

Laura S.

Yelp
One of the most kid friendly places I've been to. So first off, you can only go during good weather. It's fully outside. There is a little area with an overhead and picnic tables but I saw balloons setting up so I believe there was a bday party happening. A lot of shade and some umbrellas so my fellow pale people, don't fear. There's an old pick up truck converted to a play area with 3 slides, a pole and a few climbing options. So super fun for kids but hard to pull them away. Baby changing table in the gender neutral bathroom. Now for the important stuff: we had the cheese pizza and the mushroom white pizza. Very thin crust, charring on the crust and bottom, great cheese and great sauce. The white had scoops of ricotta. We all loved it. Cute little bar with about 4/5 seats.

Yelp
My favorite pizza places I've tried in the Charleston area. The food is always so fresh and hot! The vibes of this place is amazing. The staff and owner are always friendly and helpful.Must try! I take everyone that comes in to visit here.

Yelp
I'd like to start this off by giving a big shoutout to Owen Grenata the greatest coastal crust employee in the nation. Though my pizza was oblong it was still enjoyable and tasty. Ambiance: 8.3/10 Food: 8.4/10 Service: 10/10 (especially Owen Grenata :)

Yelp
There is an amazing ambiance at this outdoor restaurant that we recommend you try. It's very picturesque. Their pizzas are absolutely delicious.

Ollie G.

Yelp
Always good food at coastal crust. The arugula salad is a must get. And their truffle pizzas are on point. Tons of outside eating and a coffee shop adjacent.

Susan C.

Yelp
Enjoyed another awesome meal at Coastal Crest! Beautiful afternoon to sit outside and enjoy pizza. Meatball and Ricotta and the Supreme pizza are great! Good with dairy free requests - they have vegan cheese.

Kyle D.

Yelp
Overall: Quality pizza, but at a premium price. The good: The pizzas we got were delicious, with crispy-yet-chewy crust that was slightly charred (in a good way) and came out relatively quickly (and hot). The menu is well-sized and they have plenty of drink options as well. Atmosphere is great with mostly-shaded outdoor seating, so you get reprieve from the heat. The not-so-good: Expensive. I'm willing to pay for better ingredients, but the size of the pizzas are a bit small for the price. Also, not much variance between the pepperoni and supremo, though the menu would make you think otherwise. Food/drink: 8/10 Atmosphere: 9/10 Service: 9/10

Haley S.

Yelp
Great place for a group! And wow, what a menu! The pizza all sounded great. I went with a special BBQ Chicken & Bacon pizza they were offering, and I was stoked. The crust was ultra thin and perfectly crispy. The sweet honey mixed with the BBQ sauce was a great flavor combination. The Caesar was great, just under dressed. The very polite waiter brought more dressing when I asked! The leaves tasted like they were garden fresh, and the giant croutons were superb.

Sharron V.

Yelp
We started out to @coastalcrust Mt. Pleasant and @thecarolinabeerguy wanted to see to ocean so we found our way to the @wilddunesresort location. Nice call! As a life long fan of any resort I was pleasantly surprised with this area. The pizza was some of the best I've ever had (meatball w ricotta), sangria ON DRAFT was perfect, you can't go wrong w a hot cookie skillet w ice cream and we left with roadies to explore the gorgeous property. Our waitress, Hannah was adorable and extremely helpful!! We will be back!!

Alexis P.

Yelp
Tasty pizza (my ideal thinness and cheesiness), really friendly and quick service, and super cute atmosphere. Great place to eat outdoors! I shared the meatball & ricotta pizza with my friend and 3 slices for each of us was perfect for lunch (we were very hungry). The cheese wasn't too thick or dense it was perfect! The tomato sauce was tasty without being too overbearing or too scant. The pizza is about the thinness of NY style pizza which I love. The meatball and ricotta were a really good combination too. I would love to try the mushroom or fig and prosciutto next. We got our pizza 10 minutes after we ordered it and it was hot and fresh. The staff was super nice and friendly. Can't complain at all about the service. The patio behind the pizza bar is super cute. There are lots of little lights hanging and 2 walls so you don't get too much wind or sun. It's not overly crowded either (like the playground area with picnic benches or Vintage Cafe) so it's a great place to hang out. They have small tables and large ones that can accommodate like 8-10 people. Overall, really great experience. I will most definitely come back!

Lisa P.

Yelp
Great place to bring a family for dinner! Pros: 1. Large outdoor seating area with playground 2. Delicious pizzas and salads 3. Cute dessert/candy truck Cons: 1. Only one restroom - the line was quite long for most of my visit. 2. Long wait times for pizza - it would have been nice if they had someone telling the line of people waiting to order how long it would be for pizzas. By the time I got to order, I was told the wait was over 2 hours for pizza. Luckily I had time and we had drinks and salads and then took our pizzas to go. Overall, I wish we had somewhere like this near where I live! I'll be back next time I'm visiting.

Mimi S.

Yelp
The Best Fig&Prosciutto pizza that i ever had, I will be back whenever I'm in Charleston. I highly recommend.

Ella M.

Yelp
Great place to take the kids as they have an outdoor area with a play yard. The pizza was good but the dough was raw at the ends, needed more time in the wood fire oven.

Matthew A.

Yelp
Best pizza I've had in the Charleston area. Would highly recommend!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jo D.

Yelp
Dining in the pizza is good. But every time I order take-out, which is 9 out of 10 times, the pizza is dry and hard as a brick. Not worth the price. There is better more consistent pizza around here.

Anne S.

Yelp
I ordered two pizzas here about a month or two ago. I called in, drove a few miles to Coastal Crust to pick up my order, and returned home to eat the 'za, sharing with my parents. It was good. It didn't blow me out of the water, and I wasn't particularly impressed given the pricetag. I dined at Coastal Crust prior to it having the current brick and mortar location, back when they were a little brick oven on wheels hanging out at this monthly outdoor surf shop party I'd go to in Mt. P. I remember the pizza being bangin' then. Not sure if anything's changed, or if admittedly it was because I wasn't drunk this last time. Ha! I am sure the not eating it right-out-of-the-oven-fresh has something to do with it, too. All in all, I would recommend folks who are interested in checking this place out go for the *experience. The location is darling, and it is a perfect place to hang outside, socially distanced with friends or family you've been wanting to see. There are plenty of outdoor picnic tables, chairs, and even a bonfire on cold winter nights and weekends! Dogs allowed, which is always a plus, of course.

Stephanie W.

Yelp
Great pizza, salads tasty. Great beer on tap. Lovely patio and bar to get local beer.

Mark W.

Yelp
Stopped in on a rainy Thursday evening. Staff super friendly and helpful. Ordered meatball and ricotta and a Supreme pizza. Perfectly cooked and bothe were delicious. Food was brought out about 10 minutes after placing order. Drinks are bottled items and they have beer and wine. Kerry was a great hostess.

Rachel G.

Yelp
Never had the pizza, but I hear it's good. I love the outside seating and enjoyed the cute ice cream van with it's vintage vibe. Everyone was lovely here! Plenty of parking.

Sammy W.

Yelp
I got four pizzas and they were all so delicious. The service was incredible I got my food within 10 minutes of ordering and they were very packed. The seating was outdoor and it was a very cute scenery. I was considering giving this place 4 stars but only because they did not have any ranch. What pizza place doesn't have ranch???

Kelly G.

Yelp
I knew from the moment I was "influenced" on an instagram post, that we'd be eating here at least once. We opted for pizza our first night in IOP and arrived home to find our order was wrong. Unfortunately it was too late to go back down and pick up a replacement. The gluten free pizza was flavorful but the crust was so hard you couldn't eat it. Not sure about you, but I love to dip my crust in ranch so I was disappointed. We decided to try again our last night to see if it was a fluke and same result - crust so hard you couldn't eat. The kids loved their pizza and you saw pizza boxes all over the resort, so I'd say they make most people pretty happy. I'll chalk it up to the losses of not being able to have gluten.

Chrissie C.

Yelp
It was a beautiful day to sit outside and enjoy their delicious "Grandma" pizza and the Italiano salad with a glass of bino!! Service was quick and food was soooooo good!

Paul Z.

Yelp
We took the grandkids there to play sat outside great thin pizza good service. Nice beer Outdoor seating clean. Excellent Hersheys chocolate ice cream

Mary Gail B.

Yelp
Yes but expensive...liked ambiance but lacked toppings on their pizza. Caesar salad was awesome but expensive. Spent over $50 for 1 pizza & salad.

Karen C.

Yelp
I just had the most delicious plant based pizza! We ordered three pizzas for takeout. My husband got the supremo. He gave it four stars. My 6 yr old got the cheese and he absolutely loved it. He has never eaten four pieces of pizza before. He gave it 8000 stars lol. My plant based pizza was so flavorful. My hubby liked it better than his. I am so excited that they have a new plant based option with vegan mozzarella and sausage and they will be changing it up every two weeks. Can't wait to try the next one!

Spencer L.

Yelp
We ordered 2 pizzas and a Caesar salad. When we opened the small container of the salad the size was extremely small for the 15 dollar charge. I spoke to the manager and he stated there was nothing he could do. Would not recommend this to anyone unless you want to be disappointed. In addition the quality of the pizza was mediocre at best. There are better alternatives in Charleston This establishment is not one of them.

Gabrielle L.

Yelp
Great pizza with thin crust and super flavorful sauce. The dough was perfectly charred and the high quality ingredients were evident in every bite. Maybe would have liked it a tad bit crispy, but obviously takeout isn't great for the bottom of any pie... we just threw them in the toaster oven for a few minutes and those slices hardened up beautifully! Highly recommend, it's worth the splurge.

David W.

Yelp
This is place is good. Have only tried one option (soppresseta) and it was great. Little soft in the middle, but great flavor and crust. Lots of options I'd like to try. Nice outdoor setting.

Mari A.

Yelp
Great place to grab a delicious pizza! Amazing for families. The selection of pizza is awesome. Definitely worth a try. Has become one of my favorite places to hang out with the family!

Tom T.

Yelp
This place single handley made my vacation. Live music, great beer, an old car for my kid to play on. This place has it all. The ambience is quant and just what we needed. We of course ordered to much food, because you want to try a bunch of things on the menu. Take aways. Order the peasant board, it's not cheese heavy but just what you need. Order 1 too many beers, because damn it you deserve it. Order the fig and prosciutto. Skip the meat ball and ricotta. Try everything you can. It all looks so good.

Sarah M.

Yelp
Pizza was excellent. Thin crust, very delicious. We had the meatball ricotta and the grandma. Wine and beer on tap. Covered outdoor seating. Fun spot.

Lisa H.

Yelp
Thanks to Yelp I found this adorable pizza place while visiting the area. I had a craving for pizza and wanted to support a local business. They had a great selection is different pizzas and also served some alcoholic beverages. I am not one to try anything new so I had the pepperoni pizza! The size was perfect, thin crust and great flavor. It filled me up so I didn't get a chance to have ice cream at the place next door. They have seating area in the front and back including a playground for the kids. You can also order takeout, which was very busy that night.

Opal D.

Yelp
I was told this Coastal Crust was also very kid friendly but they don't have non-glass cups or straws. The food is as good as the other Coastal Crust I've been to.

Caroline S.

Yelp
Pizza is great and location is wonderful, family friendly and lovely outdoor option!!

Diane C.

Yelp
The pizza toppings were fine, but the crust really wasn't cooked through. It was soggy and limp. Giving a 2 star, because it has the potential to be better if they cooked it longer.

John D.

Yelp
Wine way overpriced. Service slightly grumpy. Food pretty good. If you go make sure you like eating in the middle of a playground.

Marcelena S.

Yelp
I love PIZZA! We tried this place Monday evening. I love the laid back atmosphere and the kid friendly play space. I also appreciated their small but tasty wine selection. We ordered the meatballs to start, delicious! We then ordered 3 pizzas. They were all outstanding. I appreciated the fact that they had a gluten free crust option. Everything was awesome. Service was GREAT! Kids had a blast and the husband and I enjoyed the time to relax while they played. We will be back again and again!

Katie S.

Yelp
Coastal Crust is a favorite for sure!! The pizza is so good and the other items on the menu are good as well. They are friendly and you can have a drink while you wait for you food. They have a ton of local beers on tap & can. The best part is walking through the parking lot to get ice cream after dinner!! We love Coastal crust and recommend trying it if your in the area!

Donnice S.

Yelp
Great food and nice outdoor seating. Very casual environment and pizza is excellent.

Scotty C.

Yelp
I've enjoyed Coastal Crust and even searched them out at festivals and events for years. Now that they have a permanent location the search is over. Located directly behind Vintage Coffee Cafe in Mt Pleasant (same ownership), they've built an al fresco dining area and a walk up area to place pizza orders. These Neapolitan style pies are super thin and topped with the best quality ingredients. I loved the ricotta and meatball, but that's an easy one... what's not to like. We also ordered one of their daily specials. It was a while pizza with cauliflower, bacon, garlic, cheese, and more. As much as I love a red sauce pizza, this white pie was excellent! I still would enjoy some sauce on the side but that's just me. It was a perfect way to enjoy dinner on a nice evening. Two delicious pizzas, a bottle of wine, and great weather at one of the outdoor tables! I tried to come in for a late lunch recently but they were closed for a private event. I'll have to take a rain check and get back over there soon!

Michelle C.

Yelp
Ordered 3 pies and all of them were burned. We ate through 2 of them bc we were hungry and didn't have it in us to go back and ask for a redo with 3 little kids in tow but it was rough. I understand coal fired has a touch of char to it but this is straight burned. It's really unfortunate because it would probably be very good pizza if not for this. See photo.

Jeff L.

Yelp
Amazing Gluten Free Crust. I try gluten free pizza all over the country and I am not just one of those reviewers who says "amazing gf pizza" and then it ends up being a pre-made cardboard like crust. You know the type of reviewer that I am talking about. I am extremely picky about my GF pizzas and this is one of the top two I have ever had. The crust is truly special. It is chewy yet light. It has the perfect amount of wood fired pizza oven taste. It is as satisfying as the regular pizza. You can tell the person that came up with this recipe really knows that they are doing. I never leave reviews but felt the need to do so because I was so impressed with this crust. Try it and you will see what I mean.

Becca G.

Yelp
Cutest hidden gem in Mount P. Amazing pizza, great atmosphere and eclectic little spot that makes the perfect outdoor dinner. If a place is dog friendly it automatically gets points from me and when you pair that with their delicious pizza, very own ice cream truck and glass bottled drinks, it's a win.

Marissa M.

Yelp
Suzy is amazing and pays attention to detail. Had a delicious appetizer and drink at the outside bar. She is super friends and the food .. again... DELICIOUS

Rachyl D.

Yelp
Really tasty pizza! We stopped by for takeout tonight. I gave it 4 stars because by the time we sat down to eat (10-15 min later) the crust had gotten really soggy. It may just be this is the kind of pizza you have to eat right when it comes out of the oven to have it crispy, so not a good option for take out. We really liked the flavor though, next time we'll eat it there!

Woody R.

Yelp
We eat there and the pizza was amazing. Loved the outdoor atmosphere. Also they have great ice cream

Jenny H.

Yelp
Great pizza and atmosphere. Very kid friendly, and their recent expansion means plenty of seats.
