Seattle’s Restaurant and Bar Closures, 2024 - Eater Seattle

"Coastal Kitchen began its life as a seafood-focused neighborhood restaurant in the ‘90s and gradually acquired a more upscale identity." - Meg van Huygen

"Gorgeous Gingerbread Waffles Recently remodeled, Coastal Kitchen has shed its colorful decor for a more upscale, modern vibe, but it's still serving the same stellar brunch dishes, like the ever-popular gingerbread waffles shown here. Every few months, they create an entirely new menu based on a regional cuisine (currently, it's Veracruz), including special brunch entrees. The regional theme even extends to the restrooms, where you'll hear audio language courses recorded by staff. Coastal Kitchen also has three happy hours daily, with food and drink specials: 4-6 pm and 10 pm to midnight, plus a "don't judge me" 8-10 am one featuring Bloody Marys and mimosas (M-F). Seafood lovers, take note: the chef's daily "two-buck shucks" are available from 3pm to close (bar only). No RSVPs, but they can accommodate large groups and you can call ahead to put your name on the list."

The food was really good and the portions were great so bring friends! The food is on the saltier side so grab a beer or martini on their happy hour to wash it down with. I would definitely go again when I'm in town and I'd recommend it to my friends

Not impressed. Went in for a Sunday lunch and despite having reservations we waited for 20 minutes. The venue was relatively busy but there were a few unbussed tables within view. The staff were overworked and as a result, grumpy looking. Once we were seated the service improved considerably, and the food arrived quickly. It was average; the fish tacos lacked flavor, the fish and chips were okay and the pasta was unimpressive. Did not live up to the expectation, sadly.

Overall experience- underwhelming, but would return. There were a lot of flies in the entrance, and the Host stood around for a bit before addressing our party of 2. After we were seated, the service was friendly and attentive. The Bread and Ricotta was AMAZING. The Manila Clams were tasty, but overall needed a little more seasoning. The burger was underwhelming, very bland.

After wandering around Seattle for a good part of the morning while visiting I worked up a good appetite and stumbled across Costal. The place was very busy which is always a good sign but I got right in at the bar. Service was a bit slow due to the volume but once some patrons cleared out I got great service and friendly staff. I had the toasted chicken salad sandwich for lunch and it was delicious and a bit messy which made it all the better to clean up using the tasty French fries served with the meal. If I am ever back in town I would bring my seafood friends back here as the atmosphere was open, comfortable, and friendly. Definitely recommend.

Our meal was fantastic, the food was prepared great and tasted amazing. The carrots in the Drunken Brussels had a flavor I did not think carrots could have. The only real negative from our meal was inconsistent and awkward service. It wasn't bad by any means but we would have atleast liked to have known our waiters name.

Popped in for bunch and wasn't disappointed. We ordered the pancakes with roasted squash and "the J-rod." Both were made very well. Our eggs were cooked correctly, and the flavors were fantastic. My only food gripe were the spicy hashbrowns. They were tasty, but there was no crunch to them. Coming at the end of brunch may be the reason. Our server was unattentive. We had to flag her down for a Togo box and had to ask another associate for the check. Otherwise, it was a very pleasant experience. We recommend dining here and will be back again.

Wow! What a fabulous rebirth. I've been gone from Seattle for years. Returned to newly imagined Coastal Kitchen. Love love love the new vibe, excellent menu ( and they accommodate my twists with graciousness!) and primo, friendly service. Sit at either bar for fun and conversation. Great spot for women on their own! Owners made the right decision. , and excellent hires! Highly recommend!

It’s my absolute pleasure to designate this as one of the best restaurants in Seattle- not only is the food fresh, but the service is impeccable. The blue oysters are to die for, while the the wavy I burger just melts in your mouth. The tomato jam is a lovely addition. The marinated olives in warm extra virgin olive oil are exquisite, while the ceaser salad with anchovies and freshest garnered parmesan do wonders for the dish. If you’re from Seattle, and are looking for something special, rest assured cuisine brilliance is here. And it’s at Coastal Kitchen.
