I'm so glad we did this at the beginning of our stay because we went back for another try. Really enjoyed the BBQ. Brisket was flavorful and didn't need sauce. Ribs fell off the bone and the potato salad with bacon...yummy! All the food was great, the drinks were ok. Great decorations and outdoor seating. Burger is similar to a large smash burger, which i love. Brisket chili alone is a great helping/portion. It's definitely a great spot for lunch or dinner. Staff is super friendly and helpful. Had gluten-free options for friends, which was awesome.

Stopped by after walking the Mission Beach boardwalk and stumbling upon this spot, and it did not disappoint! We tried the pulled pork nachos and they were absolute fire — loaded with flavor, perfectly cheesy, and that BBQ sauce on the side? Insane. Sweet, smoky, and the perfect pairing. The vibe here is just as good as the food. They’ve got a cool backyard-style area with games like giant Connect Four, which made it a fun and laid-back hangout spot.

We did have a great experience. Street corn is the best in the business. Top 5 best coleslaw I have ever eaten. Mac and cheese is also a top 5. Great BBQ sauce. My daughter is very picky and anxious inside restaurants. No where near there has kid friendly pasta, except here! Their Mac & Cheese was mouth watering! My daughter is super picky, but their Mac and cheese is far from the box taste. It’s extremely gourmet Mac & cheese- better than Ruth’s Chris Mac & Cheese(and I love Ruth’s Chris) I had the plain wings and it was more than flavorful! Smokey and tender, it’s so juicy and flavorful it could pass as a mini turkey leg lol! They servers were super friendly and kind. The TV’s were all on and I became carried away with the game that was on. The entire setting, ambiance, and food is spot on! Something for everyone here!

First time at coaster saloon, we had no idea what we wanted. The owner came out, offered his assistance and lo and behold. We decided to eat here and it was fabulous. Good job well done. Keep up the good work.

The food was fantastic. We got the party plate for four for the adults and the kids order off the kids menu. Everyone loved the food and there was plenty left over to take back to the hotel The drinks were good and came out fast. The server was friendly and responsive and had a good rapport with the younger kids. The prices are what you would expect from a touristy area, but not overly expensive.

I can’t say enough good things about this place! I have celiacs disease (gluten free) and they go above and beyond to ensure there is no cross contamination. The food is amazing and the service is awesome. We had Hailey as our server and she was kind, sweet, and attentive. We come from Phoenix a few times a year just to eat here. Love it!

Stopped in on a Wednesday around 4:00 pm. Attentive staff. Good food. Had a rough margarita for $10 and 2 pork sliders for another $10 that were very good. When I got my bill, a 5% service charge had been added to the tax without being itemized or even noted. THIS IS NOT COOL OR ETHICAL! They already charge steep prices for a beach bar. Nothing fancy here. My server pointed out that the charge was explained in fine print at the bottom of the menus. It's time for the Cohn Family Restaurants to knock off this piddling cheesy con, unless they want to change their name to "The Con" group. Be upfront and show your true prices on your menus. To his credit, the server took the extra 5% off my bill without complaining. Also, adding sales tax to drinks bought and consumed at the bar is also tacky. What's next for the Cohn group? Pay toilets?

Ok, so I wanted tacos and my son wanted bbq. we ended up playing rock paper scissors shoe, and he won lol so we ended up at this spot and I'm so glad he won!! The food here was delicious my son got the loaded fries and we also got the plate for two with chicken and brisket it comes with three sides, so we got the bbeans, collar greens and corn plus corn bread and it was just the best! Service was also great!! Will definitely return

Food was amazing! Ordered the Mac with brisket, very fulfilling! Then I got the Q Burger and its MASSIVE just like its flavor, after I got the banana pudding dessert! Great Service from Haley, very attentive and a great conversationist. She helped guide drink and food choices and she didn't steer me wrong!

Has a great local vibe, and good food, if you can get it. The (female) bartenders are chronically more interested with catch-up gossip with the locals than servicing customers who are waiting, and waiting, and waiting, at the bar. I have walked out, void of Any service, for the last time. Unfortunate.

I was recently on a work trip and stayed just down the street from the Coaster Saloon. I took a walk there to grab a bite to eat and have a beer. I was extremely happy with my choice. I'd read reviews and decided this was a good place to check out. I ordered a couple local craft beers throughout the time there. I also ordered their Party Fowl chicken sandwich with Carolina Gold sauce. What a tasty sandwich! The entire time I was there, staff stopped over to check in and make sure food was warm and the beer was cold. The atmosphere of this bar and grill was perfect for a low key Wednesday evening dinner. The decor was great! I was glad I made the walk to eat here. There wasn't a whole lot of other sit-down places in the evening in this area. They do a good job of making this a welcoming joint.

Stayed in San Diego with my family for a week. We came here 3 different times. The staff here treated us like we have known them for years. We had great service and a great time each time we stopped by!!We had the brisket nachos and the brisket was amazing. The atmosphere and vibes are spot on! Great family and or adult restaurant to have a great time. We will be back next year for sure!!

From AZ here! This is a great place for families near the beach! Food was also top-notch. Husband and I shared nachos. Service was very friendly and attentive. This is our go to spot when we are in Mission Beach!

Tucked in near the boardwalk of Mission Beach lies this hidden gem. If you're around the Belmont park area, it's only a short walk away. It's a small interior, but they do have outdoor seating also. The outdoor seating is great if you like people watching. The food is actually surprisingly good. There's not a whole lot of good bbq in San Diego, but this place has some of the most tender brisket I've had. The ribs are also fall off the bone tender! The sides are pretty decent too. Staff were very nice and attentive. They would swing by and check up on us and see if we needed refills on drinks.

The food was amazing, service was wonderful, and it was a nice atmosphere super close to Belmont.

My family and I celebrated my birthday at Coaster Saloon, and we were lucky enough to have Alex as our server -- and WOW, what an incredible experience! From the moment we sat down, Alex made us feel genuinely welcomed and cared for. He was friendly, fast, attentive, and went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect. He also made great recommendations and checked in with us just the right amount -- never too much, never too little. He made our whole family feel special, and his energy was exactly what you want when you're out celebrating. The food was delicious, the atmosphere was awesome, and the service from Alex took everything to the next level. He truly made my birthday dinner unforgettable. Thank you, Alex! The food was great, I ordered a kuba sandwich, which was flavorful. The atmosphere was warm and the hostess was the sweetest.

Went to mini golf nearby & was craving BBQ after! I came in with pretty low expectations with it being in such a popular area - like who's going to get great BBQ at Mission Beach? WELL I WAS WRONG! Our server was consistently checking on us and making sure we had everything we needed. If we had any questions, she would always answer everything patiently. Sometimes when you're being served, you can tell it's just a job but our server really made you feel taken care of in a genuine way. We got the 2 meat BBQ plate (hot links & brisket), chicken tenders & TJ Burger. The BBQ plate came with hot links - the most pleasant experience that these hot links had bits of jalapeño AND cheese in them. They were succulent with a kick. I'm still craving them as I write this and it's been months later. The brisket was tender and I like all the sauces they have you can choose from. The TJ burger has a roasted jalapeño on it which makes it sooooo good. It was packed with ingredients & was well balanced. The chicken tenders were huge & had the right amount of crisp. Great job Coaster Saloon!

I don't understand why a dish that can be meatless has meat! BBQ restaurants already have plenty of meat-why not have some side dishes that can be enjoyed by people who don't eat meat (pork, specifically, in my case). The potato salad, collard greens, and baked beans ALL have pork. So, I ordered a pastrami sandwich. There was one slayer of meat! Considering that I substituted two meats (pulled pork and ham) in the Kuba sandwich for only one meat (pastrami), I should have been given a bit more meat. The meat that I was given was very fatty, too. By the time I forked off all of the fat, I could only eat 1/2 of the sandwich (there wasn't enough meat left for the other 1/2). Also, the fries (frozen) were overcooked and dry. The waitress simply said, "Sorry," and walked away. I don't plan on coming back...

My second time eating here and the burger and fries were amazing. The waiter was very friendly and very on top of giving good service. Over all everyone seemed to be in a great mood.

This is my second visit to coaster saloon because the food is great. I had the loaded nachos and an alcoholic beverage named "cool down" a cucumber infused tito's handmade vodka, lime, ginger beer, angostura bitters recommend by Roldan Alejandro. Which made my second visit to coaster saloon memorable like the first time, this guy needs a raise he is always happy and constantly checking up on us. Thank you Roldan and team for the world class customer service and great food.

If you're looking for a place that's conveniently located just a few feet from the sand, this is a solid choice. I came here with my daughter, looking for a good burger. I had the Boss Hog with pulled pork, beef brisket, and fried onions. There was no shortage of meat on this burger. It hit the spot. It was nice to sit on a patio with just us on our single table. The boardwalk was only a few feet away so after lunch, we were on the beach in seconds. I would definitely visit this place again the next time I'm at Belmont Park.

This place was just alright. We got the tri tip special and were not super impressed. It was a bit dry and bland and expensive for the quality. The beer and drink selection was nice and appreciate the gigantic sizes. Staff was nice and accommodating despite some weird interactions with seemingly in-training waitress. It did the job but likely wouldn't go back for the food.

Solid food, not crazy expensive and Alex our waiter was incredible! Quick with it and really funny. Thanks Coaster Saloon!

I can't lie I was a little skeptical about this place simply, because of its location. Tourist locations & bbq on the west coast do not usually pan out to well. My older son wanted bbq, which turned out to be the best bbq spot on this side of the map without a doubt... the beans & the brisket were the star of the show for me. The wife & I had a shareable tray with chicken included which was equally as good. The smaller kids loved their burgers & my older son loved his order of loaded fries. Customer service to top it off was superb too. The manager coming out to assure we were gettin the right dishes only confirmed we made the right choice by stopping here. We definitely will return here whenever we're in the area again!

After dancing by the beach, we decided to get some food and this joint was within walking distance and was still open. I had this spot on my list to try, but didn't realize it was located by the roller coaster haha. There was 3 of us and we decided to share the party of 2! This platter is served with Texas toast, house pickles, onions, and comes with brisket, smoked pulled pork, bbq chicken breast, and 3 sides! For our sides, we chose fries, green beans, and mac n cheese! It didn't look like much, but it was a lot of meat! The sides were filling and everything was good. The brisket was tender and flavorful. Service was okay at first, but got friendlier as the night went on.

The guy who sat us down was kind and considerate. I also appreciated his humor. His colleague, on the other hand, needs to take some notes about how it's done. Maybe she was still in-training? Not sure, she never introduced herself. Just showed up and stood there staring at me for a solid handful of minutes. I felt mildly uncomfortable. Food was just okay. The tri tip was pretty dry, and the Mac and cheese was bland. What I appreciated the most was that they had a "big" option for their beers. I got a kick out of their big beer mugs.

Friends from AZ came to visit and we were looking for a place to eat during our time at Belmont Park. Our server was April and she was sharp, respectful, and so patient and encouraging with the kids. The portions were large and tasty, we really enjoyed our burgers! It's a casual sports bar, but on a Friday afternoon we didn't feel uncomfortable bringing kids here to eat. Overall, a lovely experience, especially thanks to April and the staff!

My first time trying this was during restaurant week a few years ago. Fell in love with their Mac and cheese and keep on getting every time. I love how it's creamy and has breadcrumb which gives a crunch. I Can here back in April with my family. I got impossible burger which was delicious. The dessert was also really good and with the ice cream it was the perfect amount of sweetness. My family loved their food.they thought it was good. It such a cute place close to mission bay. The aesthetic of this place is so cute and family oriented. I will be coming back because it has good food and the service was great too.

This location was perfect for our team Lunch following our softball games. The restaurant is perfect for larger groups and families. The menu has plenty of options for all ages. We went with the BBQ platter for 2 and it did not disappoint. The brisket was so tender and well seasoned I would definitely order it again. Our server, Hailey, was great considering we had such a large party. Her coworkers jumped in to help bringing food in a timely manner and with a warm smile. The whole staff is terrific.

The food was very yummy, such a cute restaurant would definitely go again. I especially loved our server Alex! He was so friendly and upbeat. Very attentive and helpful with everything we ordered and requested.

I'm upset that the string beans were unremarkable... bland...Because the ribs and bbq chicken entrees were amazing in the church pan that Sista Marvin sent you home with after a long assed service. The Mac n cheese was savory (not baked from church) but still very good! The collards were impressive & I'm so happy they were actually collards and not Swiss chard like these jokers tried to gaslight me in NY years ago... I digress ... I actually shared the two entrees with my boy toy and two wee ones . We were full! Portion sizes were perfect! Texas toast was delicious & some even enjoyed the pickled veggies under the wrapping ! We will return . Not sure about the ambiance- ordered the food for pick up .

WOW! Coaster Saloon wasn't even on my radar - we dropped in when walking by Belmont Park. Our first visit, we had the "Party of 2" - and everything was so good, we ate much more than we usually do (we usually split a meal). The brisket was probably the best we've had in years, just so tender and tasty. The pulled pork was juicy, tasty and excellent as well - not dry like many other BBQ restaurants. The bacon potato salad was, well, terrific. The baked beans were spectacular too. But let me tell you a secret: the street corn side was worthy of ordering 3 times so you have enough to take home. That corn is so good you'll be howling for more! (Enter your best Warren Zevon impression here).

Happened upon this place while visiting San Diego with family for my daughters 21st birthday! When we first got there it wasn't very busy but the hostess was struggling to get our party of 10 sat together. She basically said your choices are here or there. They were not willing to move extra tables. She finally resorted to asking other people to move from one table to another - which was super embarrassing for us! Very kind of them to move. Food was good. Nothing AMAZING. Beer was cold.

Stopped in to watch Sunday night football. Not Very crowded but our server , Nicole was very attentive. Due to health conditions we try to Eat Healthy but splurged on the Chicken BBQ and Fixings. Food Was Very good. A true sports bar as They did replace music with tv broadcast when The game started

Came here during a Sunday afternoon during Sunday football. There's plenty of seating indoor and outdoor. Getting seated was quick. Server took our orders and food came out pretty quickly. There's plenty of TVs all around so this is a great spot to watch sports. We ordered the corn nachos and added brisket and the ribs plate. Food was delicious.

I ordered the fish and chips. For a Cohn group restaurant, this place hits the mark. The fish was well battered, crisp, and held up well to the malt vinegar. The filets were a bit dense but flavorful and they were generously portioned. The fries were soft and delicious as I like them. The slaw was not so good. I don't eat the slaw. Ever. The tarter was good. I did however felt that the batter was a bit in the heavy side and the filets a bit dense. The ambiance--its mission beach. What can you do?

big big shout out to Gabby, nice server, very helpful, and smiling the whole time. she was quick to take our order and the food was delivered quite fast. The ribs, chicken, and pulled pork was fabulous. The brisket not so much, however they replaced with a couple slices of tri-tip without us asking. Overall really nice luncheon, atmosphere was super, Gabby was a complete joy to work with and we will definitely bring more people there next time. Thank you! Get the family pack it's the best value!

We have visited the Coaster Saloon the last two Tuesdays while our daughter is attending classes at the plunge. Our server Maddie was amazing the first time and the food was as well. We ordered way to much food! Our fault! Everything was fresh and hot on a very rainy day. This week we walked in and she immediately recognized us and provided the same above expectations of service. We are not typically in the area but of We are again we will be sure to come here for the amazing service and food. Highly recommended!

14 folks showed up at The Coaster Saloon on a rainy night for a birthday celebration. We were greeted by, Maddy, our server, who was super friendly, understanding and helpful. We couldn't have asked for better service! She took on the job of serving our group with ease. Everyone raved about the food and how good it was. We tried the onion rings, chicken tenders, ribs, pulled pork, brisket and bbq chicken breast with the ribs and brisket being the favorite. "The Coaster" has a casual setting, perfect for our party. A full bar is available and enough wine selection to keep everyone happy. A good time was had by all and we will definitely be back!

I always forget this is here but it is always spot on and delicious every time. For being so close to the beach, they don't need to be good but the service and food are great! It's a big space with plenty of drink and food options. My favorite bbq and macaroni and cheese in the area. I don't usually enjoy chicken out of the house but theirs is so tender and tasty. But the brisket is hands down my favorite meat.

Was a good place to stop if you're in the area their portions are good and it was not low quality food... so I'm happy!

She kept checking in on us and made sure everything was perfect. Her kindness really made our experience special! The manager also went above and beyond, taking the time to check on us personally and offering more recommendations. It's clear they really care about their customers. Now, let's talk about the food... WOW! Everything we tried was amazing. The brisket was tender and flavorful, the ribs were mouthwatering, and their brisket chili and cornbread were to die for. We loved it so much, we had to order some to go. The to-go packaging was top-notch--felt like we were taking home leftovers from a family BBQ. Highly recommend this spot to anyone who loves BBQ done right! And they have really great taco Tuesday's and happy hour! You won't be disappointed!

I've been to the sister location (Del's Hideout) in Grantville and enjoyed the food in both locations. It's right next to Belmont Park which is a plus since you can break away from the beach or the amusement park for some good barbecue. I got the chicken breast sandwich with the bacon potatoe salad and enjoyed my meal. Only negative was how much the prices rose from the last time I've eaten here. $20 for sandwich and side seems pretty steep to me.

This is one of the very rare places in San Diego that makes house made Pastrami that's thick, juicy, spiced, and tender...not the massed produced Dietz and Watson thin sliced pastrami served at most eateries offering a pastrami sandwich. $17 Jeremy Sandwich...a generous serving of that thick, meaty, juicy pastrami, along with cole slaw, kraut and 1000 Island dressing, all between fresh slices of fragrant rye bread. Delicious! But that house made pastrami is sooooo freaking good on its own! I might just try to order it with a BBQ Plate next time. This also comes with a choice of side, I got the street corn which was fantastic and fresh with the right amount of crema and spices. Friendly staff in a very chill beach vibe environment. Just FYI parking is here is challenging on the weekends as its located right by Belmont Park. Make a beach day out of this visit.
