My husband and I came here for Sunday for brunch. Brunch starts at their opening hours at 11 AM. I had their breakfast, Sammie And my husband had the chicken and waffles. This place does live up to the hype on good food and great atmosphere. I loved that the house is converted and you can walk up and see some glorious original architecture and some really cool furniture pieces. I did like that. They also had the front lawn for games and comfortable seating. It was way too hot to sit outside by the time we got there. My breakfast Sammy was really good. Well done the potatoes were lacking salt but that’s OK. I went ahead and added that the staff here also did very well. My husband liked his chicken and waffles. The chicken actually was a lot of protein. He did complain that the waffle was too sweet. I took a bite of it. It was delicious. but the portion sizes here are huge. I kind of wish we would’ve shared some thing. Next time we come in, we know we’re gonna share something and ask about the bottomless mimosas.

I went for takeout and took advantage of a special they had a mini charcuterie board. The servers were nice and accommodating. I also got the Ruben with garlic fries delicious! I enjoyed the outside sitting as well!

This beautiful hidden gem near downtown Lakeland is the perfect brunch spot. Located inside a 1920s Tudor style home is this unique menu full of flavor and life. I was pleasantly surprised by the portion size, the plating, and the taste. Fragrant, Fun, and Tasty. I would absolutely come back.

I live in Michigan but this is my must visit place when I’m in Lakeland. The service is always great. The drinks and cheesy grits are to die for. Also helps that the building is so unique and gorgeous. Perfect patio, too!

Cob & Pen - - Wow! What a great building!! I don't often lead with atmosphere... But that's what this place has in spades. A reclaimed unique home in Lakeland with lots of space and a lovely courtyard. I showed up at their opening (3pm) with some regulars already walking in. Bartender was open and friendly. Maintained great service as her bar filled up. ... BTW... FULL bar! With lots of custom choices on tap and selection of wine too. Food was excellent, i had their burger and added some extra sauces on the side for my fries. The French fries were on point. Burger was excellent, double patty smash burger. The sauces i had were the bomb sauce, truffle Mayo and ranch.. all homemade. They strive to make as much from scratch as possible and it shows. They do trivia on Mondays usually with a slider special. I'll include a picture of their calendar. (It's the last pic) Fun place to hang out, great food, great service... It's a MUST to come visit. Be sure to stop by and support a local business. Cob & Pen is worth a visit... Worth a drive!!

We recently rented out the entire building for a private event during Sun n Fun. From the very beginning, Paige was incredibly responsive and helpful, answering any questions we had. We designed seating options for inside and outside and they were able to move furniture around for optimal seating arrangements. We were able to set up a valet stand just outside the restaurant as well. Their catering and beverage options were really top notch and the ordering process was really easy, taking less than 15 minutes. The catering options themselves were super tasty and fresh and they had capacity to make even more than what we ordered, which was enough for around 100 people. The beverage package was really great for our guests and they had really nice premium choices for cocktails and the like. We booked for and stayed well into the early morning and the staff was nothing less than stellar and polite the entire time. We also had a last minute schedule change and needed to start earlier than expected. Paige and her team really pushed hard to be able to get it set up as soon as possible. From start to finish, Cob and Pen made our event a huge success. They were easy going but prompt and accurate, ensuring no detail was missed from the meetings we had leading up to this event. They took a huge amount of stress out of the planning and I cannot recommend them enough for large scale private events. They deserve your business for sure!

Yelp
LOVE LOVE LOVE this place for Sunday brunch! The unlimited mimosa bar with them bringing bottles to your table is AMAZING.... Yet dangerous Small but cute inside with all the different rooms and decor! The breakfast burrito was fresh and delish! Can't wait for the weather to get better so we can sit outside! Service was friendly and prompt! Just wish the selfie lighting was better! Haha jk! We will be back!

Yelp
We came here for dinner while visiting Lakeland, and we LOVED it here. Not only was my grilled cheese the most delicious one I've ever had - but the ambience and service was great. We also didn't need to wait for a table or for our food. There are so many reasons why you should check this place out. We will definitely be back!
google avatar

Nathalia N.

Yelp
The outside is definitely more appealing than the interior. It's a family friendly restaurant with Sunday brunch option. The staff were friendly and attentive. The food was tasty and fresh. I was surprise that the chicken used for the chicken and waffle dish was a breaded chicken cutlet. But it was delicious. The burrito brunch option was more of a crunchy quesadilla exterior, with eggs and bacon. It was also finger licking good. We are looking forward to going back and trying out other options.

Yelp
Service was excellent food was excellent it is a little loud but it's a beautiful place inside. We specifically went there for Polk County burger week. 7oz short rib, brisket, and Chuck burger - sweet, smoky, tangy tomato bacon jam, roasted garlic aioli, arugula, muenster cheese, and crispy shallots. Honestly it was one of the best burgers I think I've ever had, it was excellent. We also had the brussel sprouts and I'm telling you that was some of the best brussel sprouts I've ever had also. Their garlic fries were also really good too. We got a blondie it was really good also I would have liked a little more ice cream. The Blondie ice cream ratio wasn't quite there but it still was really good. We had to take home half of our meal because it was just too much.

Yelp
First time visitor but will definitely become a repeat offender. I had the breakfast platter and everything was ready for prime time. My brunch dates had the shrimp and grits and a smash burger. Their shrimp and grits was a different twist as the shrimp are grilled and served separately. Since I don't do mimosas I had a Hefeweizen which was served in an ice cold glass just like in Germany. This a nice little restaurant which is open until midnight so I lived closer I would definitely come for a late night snack. So a staycation may need to be put on the calendar. The staff are very attentive and laid bag so the vibe is worth it. Grab a meal sit back and enjoy your company or people watch the choice to s yours.

Yelp
Trivia every Monday night, great neighborhood restaurant, always friendly service. This is a trendy, small town gastropub. Do yourself a favor and always ask your server what the "Ultimate Fries" are! They change the fries every week and load them with incredible blends of flavor. Some of the best chicken wings are right here at C&P! Awesome happy hour spot and weekly events/specials.
google avatar

Yelp
One of our favorite spots to go to! Trivia night is a blast (even though we always come in last place ). Food is so good! Love their mead and cocktails. Staff is always friendly and the vibes are good.

Yelp
COB & PEN IS A GATHERING PLACE FOR ALL TO ENJOY, EXPERIENCE, AND EDUCATE THEMSELVES IN THE ARTS OF CRAFT BEER, BOUTIQUE WINE, FINE FOOD, AND KEEPING GOOD COMPANY. LOCATED IN THE HISTORIC DIXIELAND NEIGHBORHOOD OF LAKELAND, JUST BLOCKS AWAY FROM DOWNTOWN LAKELAND. Had the pleasure of visiting Cobb and Pen in Lakeland and this place is such nice area to hang out with friends and family or perhaps on a date night. Last time I was here they were remodeling, so having to see how they remodeled the place makes the restaurant have a nice look to it. The Staff and Management were great host and made me feel welcomed. I tried out thier latest summer specials and this is what I had: 1) Fried Green Tomato Caprese ( Recommend with Sauce) 2) Creamy Corn Risotto- ( perhaps one the best comfort food you'll have- recommend with Shrimp) 3) Blackened Beer Batttered Fish Tacos - (good tasting tacos, I would just say a littler over the tarter sauce, but other than that, nice plate) 4) Passionfruit Bourbon Smash Drink ( refreshing drink- I would just say, I wish it had a bit more taste of the Passionfruit, but other than that it's good drink ) 5) Banana Pudding Patta Cotta ( Nice desert to finish it off)

Yelp
We had driven past this place a few times & finally stopped in to give it a try. So glad we did. For a start, we loved the architecture of the building. It feels like a pub. I chose a mimosa for my drink, because why not, and it was one of the tastiest mimosas I have had in awhile. Just delicious. We both went for the fish & chips for our entrees. The fish was perfect and the portions are generous. We will definitely be back next time we are in town.

Yelp
Cool and relaxing ambience. We dropped by for a quick snack and were not impressed with the freshness of our charcuterie board 4/10.

Yelp
This place is a vibe!!! Great food, games are on, board games are available to play with the family.
google avatar

Megan P.

Yelp
The scenery is phenomenal, almost as if in a movie. Mimosas are awesome although the orange juice isn't freshly squeezed. The champagne is Il Fevdo. Service is on point. Consistent attentiveness and food brought out in a timely manner.
google avatar

Yelp
The outside was cool. It's my understanding it used to be a house. The wait staff was over the top nice and cordial. The inside decor could've had an upgrade. Bathrooms are clean. They did have cards to write and give your Valentine. Yes, we went on Valentine's Day. The chicken Sandwich was " alright". I ordered the mango habanero chicken tacos. Nothing spectacular. I was actually disappointed. Would I go back? Maybe. Our waitress did say that the fish and chips was a very popular item. Maybe if there's a next time I'll try that.
google avatar

Maribel V.

Yelp
The food was amazing!!! Everything was cooked to perfection. The fried fish and chip were the best I ever had! The service as well was attentive and quick! We ordered pretty much everything off the menu and nothing disappointed us. Definitely try this place.
google avatar

Brittany R.

Yelp
Everything on the menu seemed really overpriced but we ended up grabbing some garlic fries, a basket of regular fries, and the strawberry cobbler to share. I asked for the truffle mayo on the side instead of on the garlic fries because I am allergic. They put the truffle mayo in the basket with the regular fries, which I thought was ranch. I'm happy I was able to notice quick enough and not have a reaction! The strawberry cobbler was the star of the show. It was hot & ooey and gooey and oh so good. Service was just mid. I have never been to a restaurant like this one where all of the servers help all of the tables. In theory it seems it would work well but the problem was that all of the servers just assumed someone else already helped the customer and tables just kept getting looked over. I loved the atmosphere, though! It was the perfect noise volume. Unfortunately outside was closed because of a private event but it looked nice!
google avatar

Marianne M.

Yelp
good is that their menu offers variety... ordered a shrimp taco dinner and a bbq chicken flatbread ... needless to say one of us liked our dinner and one of us did not !!!! shrimp tacos, much smaller than we thought. The fries that accompanied it was the saving grace. They were extremely good. The flatbread on the other hand could've used some CPR. The bottom of the flatbread was extremely scorched and the way it was packaged, totally ruined the meal. The flatbread was cutting into multiple pieces and sloppily put into a Styrofoam container. I would like to say that the flatbread was enjoyed, but the overwhelming taste of chard flatbread made it not so enjoyable.
google avatar

Courtney L.

Yelp
This place was okay. The service was incredibly slow unfortunately. We didn't see our serve a whole bunch. The food was pretty good, nothing spectacular unfortunately. Not a whole lot of options. There was an event happening (I think maybe a wedding reception or something) and I can definitely understand why. The building is really nice and I could see holding an event there.

Yelp
I always come to Yelp when I'm in an area I am not familiar with. Hubby and I were in Lakeland today and on our way to play it again sports we drove past this cool old building. I looked up what it was and it was this place!! The reviews seemed pretty promising. So on our way out of town we stopped for a bite to eat. My husband ordered the patty melt. Now the fries are homemade! They were delicious!! He said he should have stopped after eating just half but he convinced on and ate the whole thing! He said it was one of the better patty melts he has had. I picked wings and a side salad. The salad was delicious and the wings cooked perfectly!! The ranch was freaking amazing, of course homemade. This place likes to make craft food and from scratch! Worth the trip!! I was happy to be able to read the history of this place on the website: HISTORY A little over a mile from it's current Dixieland location, The Tudor House was originally built in 1927 near the intersection between W Beacon Rd. and S San Gully Rd. In 1935, following one failed attempt, by a previous owner to move the home, Mr. O. Forrest McGill moved it to it's previous location on 1068 Lake Hollingsworth Rd. The Tudor House changed hands over the next few decades until Mr. Gene Holloway bought it in 1969. Through the years, various owners and renovations, the house came to look quite different than it does today. Mr. Holloway expanded on the building too; adding a garage, more bedrooms, bathrooms, an entertainment bar, and ball room. Primarily built to entertain business partners, and out of town guests, it is known that even Elvis spent some time in Mr. Holloway's mansion in the 1970's after a performance at the Lakeland Civic Center. Robert Mozingo, and his wife Madeline, purchased the home in 1987. Enamored by Gene's sense of style, especially the Arabian décor in the master bedroom, the socially active family also used the home to entertain guests. When it was purchased from the Mozingos in 2014, the new owners announced plans to replace the storied home with a new structure. Mr. Gregory Fancelli and a few others took action to save and relocate the original, historic portion of the building, known as The Tudor House. As we were getting to know Lakeland and looking at homes for our business, we came across The Tudor and Gregory. After a few discussions about our passion for community, storytelling, preservation, and how we believed the craft of food and drink has the power to unite us all, we became fast friends, and were blessed with the space and opportunity to collectively create Cob & Pen. We are excited our journeys have brought us together. We're excited to welcome everyone into our home where we hope you will take some time to look around, appreciate the craftsmanship and detail of our space, expand your palate as you experience our craft, and expect to enjoy time well spent, as welcomed guests, crafting your story in our home while we carry on The Tudor's tradition to entertain.

Yelp
On our way to Orlando and decided to stop for brunch. Read good things about this place and we hadn't be through Lakeland in a while. Let's eat! So parking is a bit challenging but they have their own parking area behind and off to the side in a gravel lot. Seat yourself in multiple different areas. We grabbed a seat at the community high top to take in the atmosphere. Shelby our server came from behind the bar and took great care of us. We started with mimosas. Just had a glass but you can get a bottle and make your own. Also a bloody Mary bar. Fun! Short menu which I like. I decided on the smash burger. Really tasty and filling. Pickes were delicious. Burger had a great bite with everything combined. Deb had the grilled cheese and added bacon. Really good! Lots of bacon. Tomato soup on the side was tasty. The ambience is laid back and a local feel. Very nice.

Yelp
Have you ever been to a casual restaurant that's just as fabulous on the outside as it is on the inside? It's been a minute I must say lol. Had an amazing meal on the patio because it felt amazing outside. Plenty of seating and lighting. Service was nice and patient because we were first timers so we had LOTS of questions. Food came out before I could finish my selfies girl! You can't top that! Parking is in the alley behind the restaurant. Did I mention it's free?!? Love that for all of us!
google avatar

Yelp
Cob & Pen is a good place to meet local friends in the area when you're trying to find a place that has alcohol and food, without it being a dive. The grilled cheese with kimchi was a stand out and i could have had a second. The flavor of kimchi wasn't too heavy and it actually paired well with the tomato soup. A very cute tavern-gastro restyled restaurant in an old house relocated, what's not to love. Be sure to check out their ciders on tap.

Yelp
I had a great experience enjoying food and a fine selection of craft beers Cob & Pen last week. I wish I had taken more photos. The inside is definitely unique and worth a walk around to learn about the history of the building. They have seating at the bar, outside, large table in the main dining area and then smaller private rooms. I started with a unique beer that I had never seen anywhere before. With this I enjoyed the fish dip. This was just right as an appetizer, I am a big eater so I enjoyed the portions. And then I tried their house salad with chicken and bacon. They make their own Ranch dressing, so of course I went with that. I got a nice tip from the bar tender to add some buffalo sauce with the ranch. That sounds awesome. I also learned that they have a Pimento cheese and fried green tomato burger slider on slider nights, which is also the same night at trivia. That sounds like a fun night. I felt very welcomed and had some good beer conversations with other bar mates and staff. I look forward to checking out more of their menu!

Yelp
Laid back space with an innovative menu and lots of options! Your whole party will enjoy this place
google avatar

Ally A.

Yelp
I'm giving this place five stars because the service was excellent and the food was delicious. What an awesome way to enjoy Saturday brunch -- inside an old Tudor house. We loved the decor and simplistic menu options - though I wished they had iced tea. Look for the free parking lot in the back.

Lauren K.

Yelp
Food here is so good! I have tried the smash burger, house salad, and flatbread, all were delicious. The fries are okay, not very crispy. My friends and I were very disappointed in the cocktails. My advice only get drinks on tap.
google avatar

Yelp
I really enjoyed this high quality local beer garden when I was in town last week. The beer, food, ambiance and service were exceptional! I had the Vegan Buddha bowl and a few delicious Hefeweizens to wash it down followed by a beautiful peach lambic. It started raining so we just sat in the beautiful large neorustic style interior and drank and talked more. I highly recommend this place if you are ever in the area. Old Florida local charm was never better and a special thanks to Emma, our server, for making us feel so welcome!
google avatar

Noemi S.

Yelp
I went last Friday after work to have dinner here and meet a friend m. I had the best New England NE-Style Steak Bomb omg I loved it Half practically filled me up and I didn't need anything else. It's very meaty. Staff was nice and the restaurant looked clean. The vibe was nice as well It isn't a quiet place conversation does echo Across tables. Other than that parking is limited to some degree but at l think they have plenty if I was there on a Friday night and there was still parking I can imagine any other night you should be ok. Parking is outback just follow the signs.

Yelp
The BEST thing about this restaurant is in this picture right here. No lie. Hands down this sandwich was
google avatar

Yelp
If you like beer they have an amazing and local selection. Their menu changes seasonally and the food is sourced locally. I recommend the fried pork loin sandwich There are various styles of fries and the atmosphere is cozy. Great for groups or date night. The game corn hole is outside and outdoor seating. Parking is in the rear.
google avatar

Tiffany W.

Yelp
Had a great time great service great food such a cool place, love the indoor outdoor space

Yelp
I regret that we are not locals. our family was in town visiting our daughter at Florida Southern College for the weekend and found our way here two nights in a row. Fantastic signature cocktails, great draft and a very nice selection of food! Most importantly, the staff is awesome! Very helpful and attentive! You won't wait long for great service! We will make Cob & Pen a regular spot whenever we are back this way.
google avatar

Heidi B.

Yelp
Cob & Pen is such a unique place to check out in Lakeland. The restaurant is inside of an old historic Victorian home, so it is broken up into a main dining room, VIP dining room, and patio off to the side. So far, I have only been here for brunch but I really loved it. Cheeseburger was great and french toast was beyond what I was expecting. Drinks are also on the strong side of that is your taste. One thing to note is they typically only have later hours on most days so don't expect to pop in for a quick lunch around 12pm--they usually only open around 3/4pm. Also, parking is a little difficult as you have to drive around the back of the building across the street to park. I'm leaving this review as 4 stars for now since I have not tried their traditional dinner menu yet. But, I'll definitely be back in the future for another round!

Yelp
We had a great meal here. A little pricey but worth it. We mainly came for the dog friendly grass- very nice place to being a puppy.

Yelp
Been here several times.... Definitely authentic and unique spot with cordial bar staff and nice selection of beer.

Yelp
This is my second time here. Came a few years ago when I had work in Lakeland. It's a great spot. Very casual vibe with good food. I definitely recommend it because of the food, the eclectic environment, and the prices are reasonable.

Yelp
Terrible! Went for brunch Sunday morning. Servers more concerned with their phones than getting orders right. Four meals served 3-5 minutes apart. Last one to come out was wrong. Second time it came out was wrong. Never had any food to eat.

Yelp
My girlfriend and I enjoyed it. Food was really good. Prices weren't bad either. Would definitely recommend

Yelp
This place caught my eye immediately the first time I saw it, literally 2 years ago! And somehow I still never went there until now and boy was I missing out! The building is so cool, it's like an old German church or something like it, and the way it's set up is so unique from other restaurants/bars. They also have such a cute outdoor seating area with lights strung all over at night, it's so peaceful and enjoyable to sit out there. The food can be really different too, but in the best way. My dad got the buddha bowl the first time and it was kind of like a vegan chipotle bowl, it didn't look very appetizing but it was absolutely delicious. I got the Mushroom Risotto and it was scrumptious. We also split the roasted brussels sprouts and I was shocked how good those were, mixed with a fried egg on top it was just a party on my taste buds. I've gotten the shrimp and grits as well and those were just fantabulous, there was a fried egg and pieces of asparagus and tomato in it which really worked to make a unique and satisfying flavor profile. They have a wide variety in their drink menu as well for those interested in that. The service was also very fast, we went in and ordered and did not have to wait long at all for our food to be brought out. If you sit inside they will wait on you like a regular restaurant. Great place!!
google avatar

Mitch S.

Yelp
This is a tough review because I think the restaurant is deserving of a 5 stars, but based on what I ordered I have to keep it at 4. I got the fish and chips and they were good. Tasty, crispy crust, not a lot of fish but it was well seasoned and flavorful. Paired well with delicious crispy french fries and accompanied with tartar sauce. The restaurant even has extra sauces like sriracha aioli for dipping in whatever you please to dip. Those were both positives of the experience. One thing I can't stand across the board is eating food in restaurants in the rectangular metal trays, but I especially can't stand when the food doesn't even fit completely in the tray. This was my experience for this meal. I was fighting with nearly every bite to keep the fish from falling off the tray and onto the floor. I get maybe they are easier to clear with having a liner at the bottom. But I don't thing the ROI of trays helps the consumer eat their food or enjoy their experience enough to justify the decision. Regardless of my personal stance on the plate vs. tray debate. The main courses all looked pretty delicious from the others I saw at the table I was sitting at. All that would have probably led me to a 5 star rating. But I saw the apple cobbler with vanilla ice cream on the dessert menu and thought it sounded like a great pair after my meal. However, it did not hit the mark. The apples were incredibly thin, almost papery, and didn't have the taste of a real fresh apple, I got the same sensation from the warm crumble on top of the apples. You put that all together with the ice cream and it is a dessert that I think has a lot of room for improvement from a quality of ingredients and taste stand point. Nonethless, good atmopshere, we were there for Trivia night on Tuesday and that was a lot of fun but also took quite some time to get going and wrapped up. The building is in what looks like an old church so it has awesome character and feel that makes you want to hang out for awhile.

Yelp
Stumbled on this spot while dropping our daughter off at college. It happened to be 'National Bacon Lovers Day' and we were thrilled with the celebration! We shared the BBLT special which NEEDS to be on the regular menu! It was thick cut extra crispy bacon with a fried green tomato and an amazing seasoned mayo on toasted bread! It came with fries and was 10/10! We also had the Mexican street Corn which was 4 cobs covered in shaved cheese , seasoning , and garnished with lime. Hubby said it was the best he'd ever had... and he IS Mexican lol! Enjoyed with a nice rosé. Finished with the bananas foster which was good. Atmosphere was chill with a large screen projection tv playing ESPN. There were high too and low top tables . We will definitely be back!

Yelp
We loved everything about Cob & Pen! Food was delicious! Service was fantastic! Ambiance was wonderful! Such a cute place!

Yelp
I found this gem while traveling for work. Service and food were amazing. They had great craft beer options and even a couple NEIPA's. I'd highly recommend!

Yelp
Finally after passing this beautiful building so many times, we decided to pop in. It was a Thursday night when we visited and had no difficulty grabbing a table. Once seated we noticed they offer specials on select nights, in addition to having a happy hour. The menu is relatively small but has a nice variety of items. We were a little annoyed with certain items not being available or there being changes since the menu was printed. Normally I would mention this but since they are handing our single serve menus, they should update them. We each ordered an entree and decided to grab a couple of different appetizers. For apps we went with an order of wings and a charcuterie board. I ordered the Fried Chicken Sandwhich as my entree. It was all so tasty!!! So the charcuterie was actually short one cheese variety, this was part of the menu not being updated. They did give us more of each cheese to make up for the missing cheese. The wings were crispy yet perfectly tender. The fried chicken sandwich was a wonderful explosion of flavors. It was a little sweet with a slight amount of heat. My only complaint with the sandwich was the meat to bun ratio, the size of the chicken was much smaller than the bun. I grabbed a spoonful of my friends Spaetzle and found it to be a good texture but very salty and loaded with to many cappers. We definitely enjoyed our meal and can't wait to return.

Yelp
We really enjoyed our stop here today. The look and feel is of an English Pub, super cozy but really spacious. They have lots of nooks and dining areas so you can find what works for your group. Our server, Will, was delightful! Good and honest suggestions. We started with spicy bloody Marys and they were fantastic. I had the Huevos Rancheros with brisket, wow!!! The brisket was super tender and the eggs were perfectly cooked. Great place to hang out.

Yelp
Saw how cute this place was through social media and immediately added it to my foodie bucket list! I was visiting a friend in Lakeland and decide to give it a try. I already had some dinner plans but stopped by to try some appetizers. We had a cheese board and the Buffalo cauliflower. It was tasty and a reasonable price. If you choose to sit outside, make sure you place your order inside before doing so! They have weekly specials depending on what day it is so make sure to ask or check out their website. I enjoyed the food and the aesthetic and hope to come back again!

Yelp
We stopped in before dance competition. The service and ambience were awesome. Limited vegetarian offerings but we found a good budda bowl, salad, and fries.
