Cobra Cabana

These are my people and this is my place. The shows are killer and the food hits. The vibe is chill and not fussy. I always get the snake plissken and side of fries. Food portions are large and drinks are reasonable. Seating is limited with indoor and outdoor options.

We ordered home delivery. Someone at this restaurant has a thing for salt! The amount of salt on the French fries and the chickpea salad made them both inedible. Plus, the French fries were so soggy and uncooked that they were literally limp (see photo). That was disappointing. My burger was good. I am not a fan of bread, but if you are, the bun was tasty. The vegetarian in our family had a fried tofu sandwich. She said it was ok. The food was prepared quickly. Delivery was by a third-party service. Overall, I would say our experience was "disappointing" compared to the positive reviews creating a higher expectation. This review was based on one experience with the restaurant. They deserve a second try another day.

Cobra cabana is awesome, funky, and unique, but don’t come here in your Sunday best expecting an Applebees experience. It is very divey, grungy, and kind of a metal vibe. They have a live concert stage out back. They play random old movies on VHS. There is cobra art all over the place. There is limited seating. It is basically a bar. All that being said, we loved it. The server came over almost immediately to take our drink order, the food came out alarmingly fast, and they kept checking in. The food was great. French fries were out of this world. We have a tofu hot chicken and regular hot chicken sandwich. Loved them both. Surprisingly, they have a ton of plant based options. The decor is super cool. Again, this is probably not a place for you if you are buttoned up and/or afraid of snakes. It has an edge to it. That edge is the charm though. Everyone was super nice, the food was great, and the staff was wonderful. Definitely a top Richmond spot for us.

This place was a really cool little spot. We ordered chicken wings (Memphis BBQ and Lemon Pepper), grilled cheese and fries (vegan), and a side of strange mac and cheese (vegan). Everything was really good with good favor however, the mac could have used a little more seasoning. Also, the place looked nice and clean as well. We will definitely be back to try something different.

Cobra Cabana is one of my absolute favorite places to get a late night dinner in Richmond. I don’t get there as often as I’d like because it is a hike from home, but y’all are always one of my top choices. Hands down the best fried tofu sandwich I’ve ever had anywhere - and I eat a lot of tofu. Excellent cocktails as well and service has always been great. Just got dinner there to go tonight - it was ready when I got here (early) and fantastic as always. Thank you!

They have maybe the best appetizer in the entire city with the carne asada frys. Absolutely delicious! The burger was amazing! Can’t wait to get back. Please support this local establishment.

I was invited out to Cobra Cabana and was completely satisfied with my meal. Dinner was 10/10! On the walk-in they have outside seating in the front. We walked in and there is a decent space with regular seats and bar seating(we later found out they have seating outback). We were served waters immediately and had plenty of time to look over the menu. They have vegan options which was a plus for my friend. I ordered the Nashville Hot Hen Shot First which came with fries and a Modelo. Shot out to the cooks!! Hands down I thought I had a good sandwich until I had a GREAT SANDWICH. Man that Hot Hen was crispy and coated in the Nashville Hot dry seasoning tasting every bit of deliciousness with every bite. The fries were fresh and remained hot until the very end. They have a variety of beer and liquor. The parking is not my favorite being in the VCU area where there’s limited parking. Luckily it was a Sunday and we found a park easily. I liked the Cobra figures(as pictured) and the countertop(penny design with clear coating).

Neat little place with great drink deals. Only downside is, I ordered the extra hot sandwich and it was mild at best. (For online review videos) I will be back in to see if this can be corrected. Again, great little place, but it can be very difficult to find parking.

I had a bit of a snafu with some of the other restaurants on my list to try not coming through for me, and this one I can't remember how I found out about. It is a bar with an outdoor yard. It has a definite hippie vibe, and while it is not exclusively vegetarian the menu is amply vegan-friendly. Ordering takeout was straightforwards and my food was handed to me in a timely fashion upon my arrival. What they call tofu "wings" are just breaded tofu, but I was pretty impressed by my spicy buffalo breaded tofu and the vegan ranch; a distinctively American flavor combination but never one that felt fake to me. Ordering a salad got me more dressing than I needed, and my greens and vegetables were mixed with some tortilla strips and serrano peppers, which packed a legitimate kick. It's not a fancy place or anything, but based on what I asked of them, I cannot see what they didn't do right.

I went here on a Saturday night around 8pm. I've heard great things about Cobra, so I took my visiting friends here to grab some dinner. Upon our arrival, there was a bouncer outside each entrance. They asked for ID, and let us know that 21+ starts at 10pm. In my group of four, we're all 21 except for one person. Once again, we were just planning on eating. When we decided to sit outside, we had to get ID'd again and the bouncer did not want to let us in, even though it wasn't 21+ hours yet and we explicitly said that the person in our party that was not 21 would only be eating. Luckily, they let us in. It was really inconvenient to go through the hassle of getting in, as it soured the mood a bit. Regardless, we ordered food and about two of us ordered alcoholic beverages. We were rightfully ID'd, but one of us tried ordering a second drink to which that person was followed by the bartender and proceeded to try to ID our entire group once again. Once again, it was not even 10pm. At that point we decided to quickly eat and head out. It was a shame because the food is great and worth all the hype! Their drink selection was kind of sad, but other than that we wish we could have had a better time. I definitely recommend their wings!

We came here for a quick drink and I'm glad we did! We were in and out within 45 minutes. The drinks are very reasonably priced and there's a good selection. We didn't get food (unfortunately) but the people next to us said theirs was amazing! This bar is definitely going to be added to my usual rotation. It felt safe and cozy but also still cool and fun!

Cool little spot with interesting decor. We only had the fries (which were pretty good) and drinks, but I would definitely give the other food a try. The place is small, but if there is room, I definitely recommend it for a bite/drink. Loved the cobra theme too.

Great late night hangout spot. They have an abundance of seating both outside, inside, and at the bar. They have unique drinks, and lots of fried food. We got the loaded waffle fries, a basket of normal fries, & some of the fried tofu. All were really good snacks, came out hot & fresh in a reasonable amount of time.

I love this place, the bartenders are both so nice and so mean it makes me so confused in the best way possible. It's always the first place I tell people to go when they're visiting Richmond, perfectly encapsulates the vibes of Richmond :) Food is so scrumptious too

Came here with my family not knowing what to expect. It was definitely crowded for dinner on a weekend, but was didn't have to wait too long for a seat inside, there were also seats available out front. The vibe inside is definitely a younger crowd (my mom thought it was too grungy for her lol), but I felt there was a good variety of people in there. Food wise, I really really enjoyed my vegan lobster roll, I love when places get creative with their vegan/vegetarian options and this one was awesome! The max and cheese, however, was pretty disappointing. I had some fries from someone else's meal and they were really good. One complaint was that our server forgot about us toward the end and we had to chase down our check, but I tend to be forgiving when a place is that busy.

Stopped in for the first time on a first trip to Richmond, after a show at The National. We adored the outside and the interior decorations and art. We also loved that they have a huge menu with a variety of vegetarian/vegan options that you can order from late in the night after a concert/show. My husband got a regular burger and I enjoyed the Impossible burger with fries... unexpectedly great food! We also thought they had a good selection of beers and other drinks. Overall, just a solid food and drink stop that we will be recommending and visiting again in the future!

Cobra Cabana is a very cool bar with very cool drinks and fun food! I highly recommend checking them out. The people who work here are great. But I'm here to share love for their Vintage Holiday Market: I adored checking out this vintage holiday market at Cobra Cabana! It was tented, had a mini fitting room, and tons of racks and things to check out. I had a blast at one particular clothing booth. Their prices were amazing (ranged from $12-36) and the vendor gave me a deal for purchasing three items. They had about ten vendors here. There was one booth dedicated to Garfield from memory. Other booths had super cute jewelry like mini ramen earrings and dagger necklaces. If I didn't have friends I was meeting up with after I could've easily spent over an hour here. Highly recommend checking out their vintage markets.

What a fabulous little secret in Richmond! The ambiance is fantastic with all kinds of all cool posters and eclectic knick knacks displayed throughout the restaurant. Very eclectic and vintage stuff to make you feel right at home. The staff is super friendly and helpful. The food choices are all delicious. There are plenty of vegetarian alternatives for each menu choice. Highly recommend the tofu chicken wings called Cluck Norris. Delicious and flavorful Hen Shot First tofu version of their chicken sandwich. Can get it hot XXX flavored. French fries are yummy with their vegan ranch. There are lots of drink choices for spirits and beer on tap. The music is perfectly matched with the ambiance of the whole experience. Their food is served up fast and delicious. It was such a fun experience. Highly recommend if visiting Richmond. Minutes from various concert venues. Parking can be a struggle sometimes, but fear not cars are always on and out on that street. So happy a friend suggested Cobra Cabana. Word of mouth leads you to the best places. Food was so good o almost forgot to take pictures. Sorry for the half eaten food :)

Meh. Food will neither kill you nor excite you. Service was great. Prices are good. The food reminds me of a high school cafeteria or stuff I'd make at home. Mac and cheese- cavatappi was cooked perfectly, but very bland with a dark orange sauce. It's LOUD in there, even early. Wouldn't say no if I ended up there again, but probably won't make an intentional trip.

Stopped here for lunch on a Saturday and sat at the bar. They have cheap drinks, delicious food (and a very heavy vegan menu too!) and a great vibe. We mentioned to our server/bartender it felt like Hot for Pizza and he said they were owned by the same people. I recommend the fried chicken sandwich with the smoky bbq sauce. Amazing. Also, A+ for having good ranch. We will be back!

This place was excellent. The atmosphere is very chill and the decor is so fun. The service was super good, very kind people. My dad loved his burger and I had one of the best tofu sandwiches I've ever had. The seasoned fries were also delicious. I can't wait to come back.

We did get a chance to eat here recently and mannnnnnnnn was it good! They have an interesting menu with a lot of choices and I love that most dishes come either as meat or fake meat versions. I got the tofu Hem Shot First sandwich (Nashville hot version) and my partner got some crazy soy free breakfast platter that would have been quite at home in your fave corner diner. We really liked the food and the vibe. Bonus, there is a terrifying clown-themed bathroom.

Cobra is a cool spot to chill get snacks and have a drink It's nothing special but it's affordable and the foods pretty decent Staff is cool too

I found Cobra Cabana when visiting our niece (on the soccer team) at VCU. We wanted to go out to lunch together and was looking for a place that wasn't far from the dorms. This place looked pretty cool so we gave it a shot. Couldn't be more happy with how quirky of a place this was. Not very big but had LOADS of character which I love but to top it off, the food was ON POINT! Nothing over the top but done well. In a nutshell, this place has a lot of character with a great selection of brews , GREAT FOOD with a quirky atmosphere that would be a great alternative from the corporate side of things. I bet hanging out at nights would bring quite a scene as well. It's a mile away from the dorms on the street so parking may be a bit of an issue but for sure worth finding this place and having cold one and a bite.

Cobra Cabana was such a pleasant surprise! In all my looking for vegan / vegetarian-friendly spots in Richmond, I'd never heard Cobra Cabana until my partner took me here for an early birthday meal. To my surprise, this place can make mostly everything on its menu completely vegan! I loved this part the most. We tried the tofu wings with spicy Korean-style glaze, the loaded waffle fries, and the vegan mac & cheese. The tofu wings were delicious! Super crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside, the spicy Korean gochujang-style glaze was lip-smackingly good. The mac & cheese was nothing amazing, but was decent for a vegan mac. The loaded fries though, stole the show. Piled with vegan chorizo, queso, salsa, jalapenos, sour cream, and more, these were super tasty and you couldn't tell the chorizo was vegan. Very filling and delicious! Smart idea to use waffle fries instead of regular, as the fries almost become like chips with a broader surface area for scooping. Great vibe and interior as well - lots of people at the bar grabbing drinks and hanging out. Overall definitely recommend Cobra Cabana, especially for plant-based eaters.

This place never disappoints. This is like my fifth or sixth visit plus a couple of takeout orders and they're always putting out consistently good food and service. The spot is not large but they have a large bar and about eight small tables. Plus outdoor dining. The decor is killer. It's a collection of everything. Heavy 80's and 90's era movie influences. Blast from the past. The TV's are still playing VHS tapes and usually something like Lost Boys playing on them. The food though. It's legit! I would say their burgers are one of the best I've had in Richmond. Their Po Boy is awesome, and chicken as well. Hand cut fries done right are a must. The menu is online and the have daily specials. Saw one today I wanted to try. I had the Body Bag Johnny burger today. Juicy beef patty, caramelized onions, blue cheese crumbles, thicc cut bacon on a soft bun. We appreciated as a cool punk rock dive bar! We enjoyed our potato salad and french fries but felt very let down by the hamburger. If you're charging $14 for a burger it should blow us away. Love the decorations normal and the ones they have for the holidays!

Stopped in on a beautiful Richmond afternoon. Thoroughly impressed, best burger in RVA so far, and on my shortlist for best burger on the planet. This place would best suite people with open minds and hearts. A really diverse group of metal heads, hipsters, business leaders, families, and animal lovers. Come with positive vibes and try something truly unique to the area. Skip creepy burger slinging clowns and a king that looks a nightmare. Support local businesses!

After months, I finally convinced my friends to come here after I've enjoyed this place by myself with my Louisiana ID and they refuse to take my ID today because they think it's fake. After I showed multiple documents and ID's that it is in fact real, I will never be spending another dime here. I hope you enjoy your license over this. The bartender was extremely rude and believe them to be racist. Black people, beware ! Is it so hard to believe that someone was born in '02 ?

When you walk in you have to seat yourself but you would never know because there isn't a sign and the employees will just stare at you standing there while you're waiting to be seated (unless you're a white male). The inside of the restaurant was full of life and dust. It doesn't look like the place had ever been dusted or wiped down. We ended up sitting at the bar because again, nobody told us that we needed to seat ourselves. The bar had an odd curve that extended from the bar itself which didn't make it easy to eat your food. I'm not a drinker but that day I wanted to feel like I was on a tropical island so I got something that would resemble a piña coloda. My partner is sober but if she were to taste my drink then she would still be considered sober from the lack of alcohol that was in it. I genuinely do not think that any was added to my drink. Nice. My partner got the chicken sandwhich and I got the crab cake blt with a side of the vegan Mac and cheese. The Mac and cheese smelled and tasted terrible. After tasting it, I had to push it away from me because the stench alone was making me lose my appetite. All in all, I won't be back.

The duck fat fries are the best in the city, IMO. Their sandwich options and burgers are fantastic. I finally brought myself to try the old spot where Black Sheep was. (I still mourn the disappearance of Black Sheep's "Battleship" Subs). We came in on a Saturday, mid-afternoon. Not that busy yet which was great, because service was friendly but just OK. More patrons would likely have made for a longer visit. Overall delicious food, cool eclectic vibe, & my wife had a delicious cocktail.

My friends brought me here while I was visiting Richmond. I was interested immediately because of the fun name and snake themed menu items. I love the quirkiness of it. The indoor restaurant and back outdoor seating are separate; you can order at each one. It was a little awkward to walk out of the restaurant area and go inside the front for the restrooms. The outdoor area was very cute, though. Well decorated. Small area but the seated was limited enough to feel safe during the pandemic. Ordering was easy and food brought out in a reasonable time. I got the vegetarian "lobster roll" which is made with hearts of palm. It was delicious!! It was also filling which is not usually the case for vegan/vegetarian options. I got it with the vegan mac which was delicious (and I'm not vegan, I was just curious about it!). I also tried the Radiation cocktail which was honeysuckle vodka with yerba mate tea. It was tasty but I did notice that my friends' drinks were served in larger servings than mine (I ordered inside, they ordered outside).

Whoa! I am so glad Cobra Cabana strolled into my life. They've got a diverse menu with a TON of vegetarian and vegan options. You can order delivery through their site, which I love, because, that means the restaurant doesn't pay a third party! The fact that they offer gay-fil-a sandwiches on Sundays makes me love them even more! My mouth is watering just thinking of the food, which was all legitimately delicious! I got their Snake Plissken Burger, which was a beautiful mess. I had their special sauce all over my fingers and the buns couldn't take the heat, but I regret NOTHING. My husband got the Hen Shot First with the Nashville Hot flavor and DAMN that was good. It was a dry rub, not drenched in sauce, but the chicken wasn't dry. It was a slow, delicious burn. I couldn't handle more than a few bites, but believe me, I wish I could have! We tried their vegan and non vegan mac and cheese. Both were good, but the non vegan won out in the end. We also tried a few sides - street cubic zircornium was AMAZING. The carne asada waffle fries were great as well, but didn't travel as well as we had hoped. Will be ordering from them again and again!

The food is pretty good here if you are vegan check this place out. The service was pretty good and the drinks are nice and strong lol overall 10/10 o would definitely recommend

I went there today.....I will remember this day. I ordered the Nashville Hot Chicken Sammie. Now I really like spicy food. However, be forewarned this is the hottest damn thing you will ever eat!! If you're into that then godspeed. I on the other hand have not stopped drooling in my trash can for the last 20 mins and I can actually feel my heartbeat. Not joking. I was only able to finish half the sandwich. As I am a glutton for punishment, I will be finishing the other half evening. I will absolutely be back to try their burger. And make no mistake the Nashville Hot is really good! Great job to the kitchen staff!!

The food is great!! I go for the hens shot first- I think that's what it's called! Yum! The buffalo wings are also great- good size! Great options for vegans and vegetarians. A beer and a shot for $5 is hard to beat! Heavy metal isn't my cup of tea but it has a great area in the back for seating and staff is always nice and helpful answering questions about the menu!

Wonderful food, fast friendly service. It is our place to go for lunch when visiting son at VCU. Most menitems have a vegan variation that are as good or better than the meat option.

The food is great, never have any problems with it, and nothing beats the price of the penny pincher. Best beer and shot deal in the whole city. I love the vibes of the place as well. Reminds me of hanging out at an old friends house. Cool B movie vibes and love that movies are always playing on the TV. The service is usually quick and efficient. Now, sometimes the service there comes across a bit anti-social. Not sure if that is by design but it has regardless become the standard there. I can see how some people may hate this but I personally find humor in it. It also makes it that much more special when someone is nice. I simply don't care. I love it there and find it fun. Cobra always has my heart

Absolutely delicious food and fun vibe! Good service, too. Everyone liked their burger, shrimp sandwich, egg sandwich, and wonderful sides. Love that they cooked it all well and had real bacon, not that precooked stuff.

Super creative place ! Everything was delicious! Definitely coming back. The bartenders are really nice and fast. The food came out perfect! Couldn't ask for a better lunch. All the snake vibes are here so definitely come! They also sell nice shirts ! It is a small place but definitely worth the visit I already want to go back but I'm full! Next weekend for sure! I'm not sure what you're doing, but if you like hamburgers and bar food in general, if I were you I'd stop what you're doing and head here to Cobra Cabana's! I had the Snake Plissken and fries. Perfection on a bun! Add a beer like I did or a soft drink and that is all that's needed. It's small only a few tables inside and a small patio out front. I sat at the bar and was comfortable. The food came out hot and fast and the staff were very friendly. Yes, I'll be back!

Horrible service. Worst I've ever experienced anywhere. Was forced to pay for another meal after they messed up my original order. Real great food service etiquette!! Smh. Front of house needs some new jobs w the way I was treated. How you gonna serve a vegan person a whole real beef Philly cheese steak and then be mad at them when they come back saying this isn't what they wanted. Ignorance... Go to ipanema, nuvegan, govinda, or any other vegan place in Richmond instead that will def treat you better than duuurrrbra duurrrbana.

The tofu wings are so good- the medium is not too spicy and pairs really well with their ranch dip

Dear God this place is good. I ordered the Snake Plissken Burger and Seasoned Fries for $13, and both were epic. Both the burger and the fries might be up there with the Commonwealth Burger and Duck Fat Fries from Poe's Pub for Best Burger and Fries in Richmond. I was extremely impressed. I just ordered the food to go, I haven't actually drank inside the bar itself, but it looked dope.

I just want to say I really hope someone from management sees this to the female presenting person at bar on January 11@night around 10ish. Sorry I didn't get your name. Thank you so much for making me comfortable after those guys who were throwing around hateful words made me feel uncomfortable. Thank you so much you don't understand how that meant so much me. I don't know if u will see this but thank you so much. I really can't thank you enough it made my whole 2024 truly.
