"After years operating as a food truck, Cochinita's owners Karen Gonzalez and Sergio Albornoz are readying a permanent restaurant in South San Francisco slated to open in late April, which will allow them to expand the menu to include Yucatec tamales and relleno negro." - Dianne de Guzman

Cochinita is as authentic as it gets. From the entrance, to the decor, to the food/drink, and staff. It really transports you into an authentic Mexican restaurant! The atmosphere makes you feel like you’re seated in a outdoor alley with the Edison outdoor lights strung along the ceiling. The food was absolutely delicious. Flavorful, hot, fresh, and authentic. If you get a chance to stop by here, you should!

Google
Excellent food. Whenever I see their food truck out n about my mouth salivates. Food comes out quickly once you order but lines can get long, for good reason. Look for all the color against a bright yellow food truck.

Just had the best lunch here I’ve had in a while. The taste is absolutely incredible as they do an excellent job braising and spicing their meat. The homemade salsa was spicy and delicious. The service was the best I’ve experienced in town. Will be back

My co-workers and I love coming to Cochinita for happy hour! The drinks and food are delicious and perfect for sharing. The service is decent, and I love how cozy the ambiance is. I think the sign in front was crocheted ?!? And the sweet pig mural in back really shows its vibe. So glad this popular food truck has a brick and mortar!

Went here on a Tuesday night so we were able to get a table immediately. The pumpkin seed dip was savory with some spice and heat that wasn’t overwhelming. I personally would have preferred more cucumber and jicama. The tasting platter is a nice option if you aren’t familiar with the Maya regional cuisine. It’s meant for 3-4 people, my boyfriend and I were really full between the two of us and there were leftovers. The highlights were the panucho, the cochinita pool and the poc chuc.

Google
What a fun find! We were going somewhere else but couldn’t get a table but as soon as we realized that Cochinita is the same as one our favorite food trucks, we had to hop in. The salbutes and chilaquiles were delicious

What a beautiful place! I just feel like I was eating in a restaurant in Mexico 🇲🇽❤️ Food was super delicious! I just love how the place was decorated and the the waitresses were super friendly! I love everything!

Google
It’s not bad, but not great, just okay. The restaurant is cute, clean, and had adequate service. However, the music was loud, making it hard to hear. The chicken was dry, and the pork was under-seasoned. They wrapped the burrito in foil and then cut it in half, which left small pieces of foil that I had to pick out before I could eat it. On a positive note, the green salsa was fantastic!

Yelp
Such a cool spot! Great bar with a terrific selection of tequila. This place serves up fantastic cocktails, good service, and yummy food. We ordered the empanadas de picadillo, tacos, and the house specialty, cochinita pibil. The empanadas were some of the best I've ever had. I was sad to share. Tacos were solid and the cochinita was tender, savory, and delectable. A bit on the small side but delicious. This place is great for date night, happy hour, or for lunch if you work in this area. I love that they're open all day. It's also great for people who want to catch an early dinner. We have a little one so it's nice to be able to get in early. Can't wait to come back. Our new spot. Next time I'm not sharing my empanadas. For real though.

Yelp
Cochinita was really cute! And it doesn't hurt that they have happy hour specials. The inside is bright and lively and the servers we're really on it. Chips & Guac: from the HH menu for $10. Good salsa and fresh guacamole with nice texture to it. Taquitos Dorados: from the HH menu for $10. Three (very long) taquitos with a delicious sauce and toppings. I really like the presentation. Super Tradicional Platillo: This one sounded fun with a panucho, salbut, and tamal. Every piece was delicious and, again, really beautifully presented. Quesadilla with Chicken: Can't complain! A nice plate with a side of chips included. Sakpakal aka Paloma: from the HH menu for $10. I like how they garnish the glass with Tajin all the way up the side. I might do this at home haha. Margarita: from the HH menu for $10. Pretty good!

Yelp
The food is ok it's traditional Mexican food from the Yucatán. I prefer the taqueria up the block it's way cheaper. Did I think it's amazing Mexican food? No I did not. I had the fish tacos I had better in San Diego and Ensenada. I also had that Tater tot corn thing it just tasted like deep fried frozen tots with corn from a can with hella cream it was ok at best and not for the price. Service was good my server was cool she recommended a really good beer. They have barebottle beers on tap. She was very attentive but then again it was just my party of 4 in the whole restaurant that Saturday night. The ambiance is nice it's the old bravos pizza on grand Ave remodeled to look like a traditional restaurant from Merida. Would I go back? no not really. Plenty of better options on grand Ave like the Torta place across the street , La tapatia, el farolito or even That brunch or Vietnamese place on that block I would go there before i go back to the cochinita but an A for effort good luck

Yelp
Returned visit and it didn't disappoint. The service, food and drinks were excellent. The prices have gone up and they do not serve the potato salad with the meal we ordered, as they have substituted it with a pasta salad, unfortunately this was not to my tasting and lacked flavor. The protein remain flavorful and I recommend their hot chocolate too. The guacamole portion was extremely small for $14.00, but it was fresh.

Yelp
The food is unique and I would recommend trying the Panuchos, these are my favorite from the food truck, although they were a bit of a miss at the restaurant. The tacos were okay, the tortilla was too fried and got hard if you didn't wleat them fast enough which was also the case of the panuchos. Also, the steak was tough and dry. Our waiter was nice. I feel that the service did seemed rushed due to only 2 waitresses and 2 cooks, the wait time for the food was a little long, and although we pointed out we only ordered 5 melon waters we were still charged for 6. Also, I didn't notice that the tip was automatically added for parties of 6+ and I handed our waitress the tip in cash, so we ended up double tipping. I feel like when this happens waiters usually point it out. Otherwise: The food was a 5/10 The ambiance is a 10/10 Restrooms are clean and a 9/10 Parking is street metered but easy to find 9/10

Yelp
Went for happy hour and dinner. HH ends at 6. HH menu is limited and portions are way too small. Regardless cheaper than the main menu so it's something (every item is 10 dollars, feels like they should be less than 10 dollars). The drinks were good - margaritas and Palomas. Not sure what kind of alcohol they use but no after effects for likely non-top shelf alcohol. Got guac and flautas from HH menu. They both are tasty except small portions. Main dishes were tasty, tried chicken pibil. It wouldn't compete with mission burritos, but good option in this area. One special aspect is they gave attention to the ambiance. Very nicely decorated, painted and accessorized space. It's festive and inviting. In addition the waiters are great and attentive (even warned us about the HH last call so we can squeeze in another margarita!)

Yelp
I walked in for lunch with a couple old friends and the space was so welcoming, very clean and colorful. We got a table near the window. It was a bit early for lunch, so it wasn't busy yet. It took a minute for everyone to show so I appreciate the patience of the staff. We ordered lunch- I got the breakfast burrito and the others got the same with slight variation. My friend ordered a Diet Coke, I was surprised it didn't come out until the food. The breakfast burrito was good, I would say it was a burrito with eggs in it rather than a classic breakfast burrito. It was very packed, huge! I could barely finish it. It was fresh which was good. I enjoyed my lunch there, maybe it's inflation but $18 for a burrito is steep! I think this is a good spot for lunch with friends/co-workers especially if there are vegetarians!

Yelp
The place is so cute! Plenty of tables and ample space for families, I recommend reserving because it gets busy. Although when we came we were sat right away. The food was good the appetizers were filling and the presentation was a nice touch, down to the authentic plates. There is plenty of Parking, however- it is hard to find due to the several restaurants around. I will be retuning to try the Pozole I

Yelp
Being a big cochinita pibil fan, I was excited to try this place after finding it on Yelp. Unfortunately, their namesake protein let me down a bit. Now it wasn't *bad* by any measure...just a tad on the dry side and really didn't stand out, flavorwise. The pickled onions were on the salty side, at times overwhelming the rest of my tacos. I started flicking them off left and right to regain some balance. Now for what I did like... -The crew (4 ladies when I visited) was warm, welcoming, efficient. -Their poc chuc was delicious! Perhaps this should be the restaurant's name. The pork was fatty, moist, tender. Served with avocado; nice touch. My first time having this and it won't be my last. Gonna fill a burrito with these delightful chunks next time. -Elote tater tots were fine. Tasted pretty much like you'd expect. -The guacamole!!! Simple yet some of the best I've ever put in my mouth. Mmmmm. Gonna get two orders for the table next time and just have a bunch of chips leftover. Heh heh. I'll return here for the poc chuc and guacamole.

Yelp
Delicious food. Absolutely love the mas maiz salad. Absolutely fresh ingredients. Kids are a fan of the macaroni and chicken soup. Drinks are inventive and stiff. Friendly service. Beautiful decor.

Yelp
3.5 stars We came with a group of 6 on a Wednesday for happy hour. Parking was easy and I found some free parking a couple of streets down. We got seated in a pretty empty restaurant in the back. As my friends trickled in, I looked at the happy hour menu. I had searched around yelp prior to coming, but couldn't find any information. Unfortunately, if we are talking about bang for your buck , I would not rank Cochinita's happy hour very high. Fortunately for Cochinita, the food is very good. I ordered the chips and guac, elote tots, and the quesadilla off of the happy hour menu. The food items were ~$2 off. I really enjoyed the elote tots and quesadilla. The included meat (pork) in the quesadilla was moist and tasty while the elote tots were a perfection combination of texure and flavor. As for the drinks, we ordered the margarita and paloma. Both drinks were tasty and were well balanced (no hard booze flavor). The drinks were $1-2 off during happy hour. One of the drinks during happy hour (the corazon espinado) was the same price as non happy hour lol. This place is tasty, but is a bit pricey. The deals during happy hour are nothing to write home about.

Yelp
We had dinner here and had a fantastic experience. The service was great, the food was out quick, and was absolutely delicious. My wife is Yucatanean, and has very high standards for panuchos and salbutes, and they exceeded her expectations! We would highly recommend the cochinita and póc chúc for the meats The habanero sauce and pickled onions were an excellent compliment to the meal. We will definitely be back the next time we are staying near the airport!

Yelp
Visited for happy hour around 4:30pm Friday with a friend, restaurant had a few other guests but plenty of open seats and tables. Restaurant got a bit busier as the evening progressed but saw available seats and tables throughout the night so great spot for walking in. Drinks: Paloma - this was pretty sweet, got a little bit of the grapefruit and the chili salt garnish helped to balance the drink a bit but overall too sweet for me Margarita - pretty similar but with lime also quite sweet salt rim helped but not the best cocktail Food: Taquitos Dorados - excellent, crispy fried exterior filled with shredded meat and garnished with a red salsa, queso fresco, pickled onions and a side of green salsa Quesadilla de conchinita pibil - fantastic, really large portions size, filled with melt cheese and tender conchinita pibil, with chips and salsa on the side Service was good, water provided right when we sat down, servers checked in on us throughout the meal, pacing of the food and drink was good as well. Over happy hour food menu is great, drinks for me were a bit too sweet but would come back for a beer and the happy hour food/snacks.

Yelp
Came in for a quick bite this afternoon and was not disappointed one bit. Food - we ordered a side chilaquiles, guacamole, elote tots, and the taquitos - the chilaquiles was a small portion but the flavors were on point. The verde sauce was tangy and packed with flavor, the guacamole was a decent size for two people to split, it was tasty and the chips were fresh and crunchy without being too hard on the teeth. - the elote tots was a twist on traditional elote and the tots had a nice crunch. The dish is layered well giving you a good bite of everything all at once (cheese, sauce, corn, mayo/sour cream mixture). - the taquitos were filled with chicken, they were crunchy and flavorful as well. The lime and their hot sauce elevate the dish. Service - we were the only ones in at the time and got stellar service. Our food also came out quick. Ambiance - I love a restaurant that transports me to a different place and Cochinita did that. It was vibrant, colorful, decorated nicely and the music was so lively that I was dancing in my seat the entire time. Would 10/10 go back and try more things on the menu.

Yelp
My husband and I came here for our anniversary dinner and this local gem was the perfect pick. We arrived around 5:30pm on a Tuesday evening and were seated immediately. We lucked out with happy hour (Tues-Fri, 3-6pm!) and kicked things off with a cochinita pibil quesadilla, elote tots, and a delicious mango margarita. We especially enjoyed the quesadilla, it was extremely filling and flavorful. We also split a carne asada burrito and panuchos with cochinita pibil and poc chuc -- both packed with tender, juicy meat with a ton of flavor -- and churros for dessert, which were another standout. My husband doesn't have a sweet tooth but he thoroughly enjoyed them! Service was quick and friendly, food and the mango margarita were 10/10, and the decor gave the place such a fun, inviting vibe. This is the perfect spot for a date night or chill dinner with friends.

Yelp
They charge $4 for chips and salsa. In addition, their guacamole is overpriced for the amount they give - $14 for a little ramekin, not worth it. The food was okaaay, I'm not impressed and probably won't go back...

Yelp
A friend and I decided to meet up for brunch at 11 am on a Wednesday. I'd never been to Cochinita, and she suggested it. I showed up around 10:50 or so, and there were two other patrons finishing up. I put in our order for chilaquiles with cochinita pibil and red sauce, chilaquiles with chicken and green sauce, and salbutes with chicken. My friend only had an hour for lunch, so I wanted the food ready when she arrived. She showed up at 11:08, and our waiter promptly brought out our food. Everything was fresh and tasted great! This was my first time trying salbutes--what a treat! A puffy fried tortilla topped with all the fixins...yummy! I know this is incredibly random, but you know what else I found to be so good? Their pickled red onion! WOW! They were on my chilaquiles and salbutes, and I almost wanted to ask for more! Their menu has a variety of options for everyone--sweet, savory, meaty, veggie, vegan. The interior is perfect, too. It did remind me of a little restaurant I went to in Mexico. Overall, this was a great experience and I will be back!

Yelp
This place is amazing. Great food and barebottle beer. Cocktails are probably the highlight.

Yelp
Good food with good vibes in downtown South San Francisco. This restaurant offers fusion dishes from Yucatán, Mexico. What a unique find to try something different! The restaurant was super lively at dinner time. The place was just about full on a Friday night. A few people were at the bar having drinks. We went around Christmas so there was a bunch of Christmas decorations. There's only street parking, but it's usually not too hard to find parking in downtown SSF. We got the Ceviche de Camaron, Tacos de Pescado, and Cochinita Pibil Platillo. - The ceviche was okay. It did come with a large portion of chips that was a little bit too much for the amount of ceviche you get. - The fish tacos were super spicy. The chipotle aioli in quite spicier than expected so be prepared! But the fried fish pieces were huge. - I really wanted to try the Cochinita Pibil, Yucatan style pork, since I've never seen this dish before. It was tender and flavorful. And I loved the plate option to make a tortilla and eat with beans, rice. There are fried plantains on the side too! They also serve brunch so I think I'll be back to try their fusion brunch options!
google avatar

Mariah C.

Yelp
I had the pleasure of trying their carne asada street tacos from their taco truck, so good! I'll need to try the restaurant IRL.
google avatar

Review L.

Yelp
The place has a fun trendy vibe with a Yucatán flavor. The menu is centered in traditional Yucatán cuisine again, with a modern twist. Everything is a la carte meaning whatever you order does NOT come with rice beans and salad as with other traditional restaurants that feature Mexican cuisine. They have a bar that serves nice cocktails e.g., margaritas, mangonada, mezcal cocktails and beer and wine. Service attentive. The portions are small not worth the prices. Flavor ok. Presentation all food served on traditional plates made out of clay which contributes to the Yucatán vibe. The side of black beans was served on a tiny plate. The street corn was tasty but small portions too. The filling on my 3 crispy tacos was chintzy and rolled so tight and the filling so little it was almost hollow. And I could count the number of cabbage shreds. I get it, it's hard to make a profit in the restaurant business these days. But, as someone who knows the price of ingredients because I cook at home, I felt cheated. I came, I tried but, I can't and won't go back.
google avatar

Yelp
Chill atmosphere. Very attentive waitress. Food was delivered very hot to our table. The guacamole was delicious, although the amount of chips it was with was very small for the price. All entrees came with creamy, smooth black beans in adorable lil wood bowls and plain Spanish rice. The steak was so flavorful, tender and delicious! The tamales with chicken and pork were very soft, tender and tasty. I added the creams and cotija cheese for a dollar but the amount was very small. Overall, very unique flavors but delicious.

Yelp
Visited this place for brunch and it did not disappoint! I got an omelette that came with tater tots and some delicious plantains. The service was great and they checked up on us often. I wasn't sure what we to get, and I appreciated the suggestions they gave. The interior was really nice and we had a great experience overall! We will definitely come back here for brunch and looking forward to trying the dinner menu as well!

Yelp
Tried a new Mexican place in South City. The place was buzzing. Good food! I ordered the fish tacos, so ginormous, it couldn't fit in my mouth. The fish was nicely battered and fried. I don't know what the rest of my party had but everyone loved it. The Paloma and Un Domingo en Merida drinks were super. Chips and salsa/guac were good but smaller portions on the chips. Good find!

Yelp
My fiance and I tried this for breakfast today since we just moved to south San Francisco area. We have always passed this spot when we walk our dogs and decided to try it. We did not know what to expect, and I can say we were amazed with the food! My favorite thing was definitely the elote tots, since I love elote in general. My fiancé was pointing out on how much he really liked the interior of the restaurant. Throughout the meal he would look up and say how nice the interior is. We were also very welcomed throughout the meal with the waiters being very attentive and friendly. We will be definitely coming back soon! Maybe to try the dinner menu with the drinks haha....

Yelp
We were greeted very graciously and seated properly and promptly, we're then given a bottle of water, nice and cold and given time to review the options in the menu and suggested appetizers and entry. Then while we waited, the ambience music was excellent and one star food arrived. It was delicious and tasteful and plentiful. It was a great experience and we all enjoyed it very much. You will not regret visiting and trying all their plates

Yelp
Fabulous ambiance, good food, decent service. Came here on a whim after my cousin scrolled through Yelp. We were in the mood for Latin food, and were so excited to try something new! We ordered a few things off of the menu to share: Empanadas con picadillo - yes, absolutely order these. Flavor was great, and such a good start to the meal! Parillada Platillo - got the combo of carne asada and the Yucatan grilled pork since we couldn't decide. This plate came with two quesadillas, salsa, potato salad, and rice and beans. The perfect amount to share with someone! Cafecito con churro - We ended the meal with an order of their cafecito con churro. The coffee paired perfectly with the warm, sweet churros that were crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. The food was great, we really enjoyed ourselves. But the service was a little MEH. I'm not sure if they were short that day, but it was kind of hard to get service to our table when we needed it. And the service felt a bit slow overall. However, we weren't in a rush, so we weren't too bothered by it. Hope to come back again soon to try their other menu items!

Yelp
We just came home from here. The ambiance and food was great except for they could lower the music a little so people can hear each other talk. Now to the real stuff.. the customer service was awful. We had to ask to be seated after waiting with a 2 year old toddler. There was only three. Other families there so bot busy at all. The table we were seated at was dirty meanwhile there were about 10 more tables available. As we're sitting the lady is wiping the table and comes with a portable vacuum. Then she stars sweeping underneath up all while im trying to get settled with a toddler. After all that hustle and bustle we finally settle and wait about ten minutes patiently waiting for someone to take our order. Mind you the restaurant is still not busy at this point. We get served water after waiting and are told the waiter will be right with you so meaning we have to wait longer. While we're waiting two more families walk in and get seated immediately and there kids are give. A menu to color with crayons. My husband and I noticed that the other families that walked in, there orders were being taken before us. When we finally get a waiter i nicely ask for our order to go in before there because duh we got there 1st. Then i asked for a kids menu as other families had received one. I dont know if it was because we're latin and the other families were asian but i felt a little discriminated against even though this is a Hispanic restaurant and Hispanics run it. We're big advocates in supporting our own kind so being treated with poor customer service didn't sit well with me.

Yelp
This is one of my new go-to restaurants on Grand Avenue! The flavors are delicious & the staff is always so friendly. I've been 3 times now and all have been amazing experiences. I finally tried the famous coconut margarita and I was so pleased! It's definitely a must try in my books. I'm stuck on this delicious pork dish they have I've gotten it two different ways (see pictures attached) but it's just so tender and delicious. The flavors are spot on. The guacamole and chips are also an easy yes in my books! I'll definitely be back to try some more things.

Yelp
What a great find in the middle of unassuming South San Francisco on Grand. This is a great little Mexican restaurant that serves up food from the specific state of Yucatan. While there was not a kids menu, I was able to get my two tots a burrito to split and they loved it. For myself, I got an order of their panuchos, which are fried tortillas stuffed with black beans and topped with your choice of protein. I decided to get their pollo pibil as well as their poc chuc and both were delicious, although the chicken also came with some orange hot sauce which made things super spicy. Nothing I couldn't handle but I would have preferred something a little more mild so I could enjoy the flavors of the dish more. I got a besos de mescal to go with my meal and this was such a delicious drink. You could taste the smokiness of the mezcal coming through but it was paired very nicely with some bright citrus notes and floral notes as well as some sweet agave.

Yelp
We loved this place! This is my second time here and there's a lot I like. The atmosphere is great! They have great platters and appetizers to choose from. I tried the panucho with Poc Chuc. This was delicious and so flavorful. Also had the ceviche and guacamole. Can't go wrong with either of these options. We shared a platter recently for a birthday and this feeds from 3 to 4 people. It comes with a sampler of all the meats. I got to say that my favorite was the Cochinita pibil and the Poc Chuc. The picado was also really good! The cocktails are also delicious. If you like mezcal, you'll be sure to see a good variety. They also had mocktails which looked nice! I liked that they have an interesting variety of Yucatan dishes. The Cochinita pibil is very flavorful and rich. Highly recommend! I'd get that again.

Yelp
I really loved everything about this restaurant! The food was delicious, service was friendly, and ambience was charming. My only complaint was how far away it is from my house, or I'd be eating here way more often!

Yelp
My husband and I finally tried this place on a random lunch date midweek. It's in the heart of downtown SSF Grand Avenue so parking can be a bit tricky. But I wouldn't recommend driving because they have such great margaritas, especially the mango and pitaya. We kinda went hard and ordered a lot: -elote tots : great appetizer to share if with a larger group -ceviche : seemed pretty fresh and another good appetizer to start with -3 taco plate : one of my favs, will definitely get this again! -cochinita pabil platillo : my other fav! Can't go wrong with this one! We were very hungry but there was a decent amount of leftovers. Our waitress was super friendly and helped suggest some of the dishes, as everything on their menu looked delicious. It was truly hard to decide. We can't wait to comeback, maybe for brunch? The place looks small on the outside but there's a good amount of space inside and I would consider bringing my whole family here (not just a date with the hubs). Can't wait to come back here!

Yelp
Yum!!! I've only eaten Mayan or Mayan/Fusion a handful of times and I really loveeeee flavorful Panuchos and Salbutes!! MMMM I think I most recently tried Poc-Chuc with a friend in SF and he is actually born & raised in Merida and he thought it was decent . We ventured together to try this spot and we were absolutely blown away! This is such an inviting beautiful oasis of a restaurant. I really loved the clean look and all the nice plants decor. Our group ordered Panuchos, Salbutes, and some rice/beans for the little ones. The server was super nice and welcoming and the food came out quick! It was hot. It was fresh. It was DELICIOUS! I can't wait to try more items on this menu!!

Yelp
This place was suggested by a friend since he's tried them before, and it did not disappoint! Parking was easy to find on the street, but there is also a parking structure located nearby as well. We were seated and accommodated right away, and our server was so friendly and gave us recommendations on the menu. For appetizers, we ordered the Elote Tater Tots with Carne Asada and Shrimp Ceviche. The Elote Tater Tots were my favorite out of the two, super flavorful and a little bit spicy. You also don't see this combo a lot, so it was a must-try. The Shrimp Ceviche wasn't bad as well, but it lacked the juice it usually has. For my entree, I ordered a Carne Asada Burrito Bowl. It was really good, but I think it had too many black beans and could've tasted better with some sour cream. My boyfriend ordered the Carne Asada Quesadilla, and I enjoyed that one a lot. I also ordered their AFK Until Mañana cocktail, and I was really impressed that I couldn't taste the rum flavor. It tasted like a Piña Colada to me, very refreshing! The ambiance of the restaurant was nice too, colorfully decorated and had music playing in the background. I would definitely come back to reorder the items I liked, as well as try out other items on the menu

Yelp
Great place! Was able to walk in on a Sunday without a reservation and got seated immediately. There was a relaxed atmosphere. Food was great and it hit the spot. Was a big fan of the tater tots especially.

Yelp
Friendly staff, food was out super fast. My wife loved her steak. Everything was made from scratch. Great decorations and a fun environment.

Yelp
La Cochinita is festive before you even walk into the door. The bright yellow sign is like a lighthouse on this dull commercial street in South City. Even more so on the day I went - it was rainy and foggy. As a first-timer, I went with the three-taco plate ($14). I chose chicken, pork, and vegetarian. These tacos are plump, particularly with the presence of plantain, and delicious. If you aren't sure what to order, then I recommend this as a first pass. I didn't realize the extensive egg menu until later. I'm sure I will go back in the future, so perhaps I will try them then. The server was attentive, and very nice. She explained the dishes, and made recommendations. Great find.

Yelp
We stumbled upon this place last week & were wowed by the lively atmosphere, wonderful food, & friendly service. I love the upbeat atmosphere with the Spanish music playing. The cochinita casadella is the best with tender smoked pork & a fresh flour tortilla. The taquitos are some of the biggest I have had withy tender beef, cotija cheese, & sulsa & crispy & not greasy. The margeritas are wonderful; smooth, not overpowering, & perfect with the salt. We will definitely will come back to try more. So, for some wonderful Yukitan food in a casual atmosphere with friendly service at reasonable prices, Cojinita cannot be beat. Keep up the good work guys.

Yelp
I enjoyed their food truck and am happy they have a brick and mortar. I love the elote tots but let them know if you can't handle spicy so they don't add the hot salsa. The homemade horchata was a bit sweet but perfect for washing down the spicy elote tots. I also like their Yucatán handmade fried tortillas either stuffed with or topped with beans and choice of meat. I've only tried their brunch so haven't been able to try the tamales but the huevos con tomate is decent on the brunch menu too.

Yelp
Service was great! I ordered tacos with carne asada, but unfortunately didn't take a picture and horchata to drink and it was all delicious. I brought my niece and she ordered a side of spanish rice and a side of carne asada, which was enough for her and can of soda. (picture is of her food) The ambiance was really nice, loved the music and atmosphere.

Yelp
We ate here several time since they opened, it has always been good both service and food, we stopped by last week for happy hour, ten minutes before 6pm and we were not offered happy hour menu, no biggie so we ordered the tater tots with carne asada. A lot of toppings and not enough tater tots , we still had to order chips just to complete the dish. The portion of chips we received was just a small handful. For a $13 dish, we were very disappointed with the portion sizes. I have to say, this hasn't been a one-off experience--on the last couple of times we've eaten there, the plate portions have consistently felt too small. --- Are getting smaller and smaller.

Yelp
Was visiting family in the area and came across this place for dinner. Amazing food, service and I would definitely go back. Packed when we arrived around 7 but luckily we were seated right away. Busy and rightfully so.

Yelp
The ambiance is cute, decorative and friendly server. The food was not the best, I had chorizo scramble. The tortillas were very oily, the platonos were not ripened properly. My son ordered a side of bacon and it was a crime to serve 3 tiny pieces of microwaved bacon for $6. Also the hot chocolate was dirt water. The server was trying his best but service was slow. The food lagged so much people had to start eating. Some us in our party finished before other received their food. The food was mid at best I would not eat here again.

Yelp
This place has been bookmarked for awhile and we wanted to try a new place, so we checked out Cochinita. Ambiance is really cool. I like their decor and interiors. Reminded us of Los Cabos or a beachy tropical resort. It really takes you away from Grand Avenue! While others may rate an establishment for the ambiance, I go for the service and food! Nothing special with the service. The waitress was pleasant and accommodating. Though we didn't ask for anything special. We just ordered our food and that was it. Looking over the menu, we ordered salbutes and a parillada platillos. SALBUTES ~ 2 Yucatán fried tortillas with your choice of meat. I chose poc chuc (grilled pork) and pollo pibil (chicken). When I got the plate, it was bare?! I think it would have been better if they added chips or put them on a smaller plate! Empty space on a plate does not look good! I don't think it was worth $14. I could have gone up the block and get a $10 burrito that would fill me up! This was like an appetizer. While it tasted good, it wasn't worth the price. 3/5 PARILLADA PLATILLO ~ my bf chose to have the grilled steak. He was cutting into the steak and noticed the sides were very fatty. About 1/4 of the steak wasn't meat. It was already a small steak and now realizing some of it is inedible. That was disappointing. It was cooked medium done which was fine. At least the tortillas were house-made and decent. Rice and beans were ok. Potato salad seemed out of place with the Latin theme? I've never had potato salad with tortillas before. That's usually a bbq/picnic side. 3/5 While the restaurant's ambiance was super cool, food was underwhelming. Maybe having a cocktail and an appetizer would have been the better way to go. Unfortunately, I don't think we'll be back.
