A Guide to Ann Arbor’s Best Bubble Tea Shops - Eater Detroit

"Taiwan-based chain CoCo entered the Ann Arbor boba scene last year, and undeniably made a splash. The shop opened to a two-hour-long wait, and is still constantly packed with fans of the popular brand’s extensive variety of flavors and ever-changing menu." - Steffi Cao

Google
Love this bubble tea location! Great variety of drinks. Fresh teas. Staff are lovely and always work so hard even in the midst of a rush. Occasionally we will get old tapioca pearls which is a bummer. 4.5/5 stars!

Google
My favorite is milk tea with coconut jelly I like the way they make it not too sweet and you can taste the tea. But now Im disappointed because the taste is either more milk or no taste or too sweet and you cannot even taste the tea on it.

Google
I liked the Atmosphere! It was cute and the art work was fun and palyful. The boba tea was good and the classic tapioca boba didn't stick much together. It makes it easier to get it from the straw. I got a half the sweetness taro milk tea. This is just my preference but I wish it was slightly more taro flavor. That being said it was still a yummy! I would definitely go back.

Google
On the opening day, I got a large triple delight. They give you a perfect ratio of tea to toppings. When I go to other bubble tea places in AA, I often find myself left with half a cup of tea and no bubbles. I got a large taro with sago the day after (aka the day I’m writing this review). Easily the best taro I have had in AA. However, I would get the 50% sugar next time because 70% was a bit too sweet for me (and this is coming from someone who LOVE sweets).

Google
4.7 stars I liked their fruit tea options ✨Ordered mango green tea before and tropical special is my go to. They have some seats and public restroom so you can enjoy the drinks there.

Google
this coco's location has always been my go-to whenever i drove down to ann arbor. staffs are nice and friendly. my drink is always finished on time, even i ordered in person or through square. i have recommended them to many of my out-of-state friends and they also have good experience too!

Google
They were out of an ingredient and instead of calling my name to tell me and ask if I wanted something different, one of the employees assumed I was not there and just got rid of my cup. When I asked about my drink I was then told about the issue after already waiting for 15 minutes. I understand that they were busy but I don't understand why they would just get rid of my order from the que without asking.

Yiqun Wang

Google
Ordered matcha tea with red beans, but no red beans. Second time. What can I do to help? Follow up: good customer service. Modified to 5 star. Have been 10+ times previously and will coming.

Yelp
Coco is one of my go-to spots for boba in Ann Arbor. I highly recommend the taro milk tea with pearls and the brown sugar boba milk tea. The drinks are very consistent and I have yet to try a drink I didn't like.

Yelp
We went to Coco after deciding to dine in at cardamom and having to wait 30 min. I tried the passion fruit green tea with crystal. The set up could use some work because they have the order kisosks right when you come in and people have to awkwardly bunch up by the door. If they would have out it at the opposite side of the counter, it would work perfectly. I think people don't consider these basic logistics things sometimes when setting up their shop that would make things so much smoother. The place was busy and the staff was working really hard to serve up drinks quickly. The drink itself was ok, but I wasn't able to get the choice I usually make as their selection was a bit limited. No fruit jelly; no popping boba. So I tried the crystal boba, but it wasn't my thing. The passion fruit tea itself was very good though.

Yelp
Ann Arbor is filled with bubble tea places and they all have similar menus so it was nice to find a place with something unusual. The taro milk tea comes with or without sago which adds texture without all the chewing you do with the tapioca pearls. We also had the Caramel milk tea and the Tropical Island fruit tea. Both were really good. They have two kiosks to order there. My four drinks were ready quickly and packaged for me to carry easily. They have some tables if you want to stay there.
google avatar

Yelp
Love the seasonal boba selection, haven't tried any of their staples. Extremely nice staff, relaxed atmosphere, only weird thing is feeling forced to use the machines to order when someone is standing right in front of you. But otherwise, CoCo is probably the best boba chain around here.
google avatar

Aliya S.

Yelp
I've been to this place 2x and each time it's not very busy which is great because that means shorter wait time. Love the taro and sago combo! This time I added pudding to it which added another yummy flavor and texture to the drink.

Yelp
A good friend of mine surprised me with a large milk tea with pearls from Coco! The milk tea looks like it has a good ratio of tea and milk, and there is the perfect amount of boba. Generally when I go to a bubble tea shop, I get the milk tea with pearls. If they make amazing milk tea, then that is usually an indicator that its a good bubble tea shop. When I took the first sip, I noticed that it was not overly sweet. The black tea taste comes through the creamy milk tea, which is a must! You can taste each aspect of the concoction. The tea, the milk, the sweetness. The tapioca pearls were mildly sweet. It was not overcooked or undercooked, it was cooked perfectly. They had a nice chew to them as well. The quality of the tea and the perfect balance of sweetness in contrast to the bitter tea, makes me want to drink more of it. Overall, I would definitely make the hour drive to Ann Arbor for it!

Yelp
This is the best place to get boba tea. It's made to order with an array of flavors and bubbles. Staff is very helpful and goes out of the way to make sure you enjoy their tea. Highly recommended

Yelp
The triple delight with boba, pudding, and grass jelly is always consistently delicious. The creamy texture and taste of Coco's is what makes this brand so popular. This quiet location in the student strip mall is very efficient with both online and in-store orders.
google avatar

Yelp
Definitely one of the best fruit tea places in Michigan. Highly recommend the Tropical Special. Comes with boba and jelly. You can also customize it.
google avatar

Yelp
I get closing and not wanting anyone in. But having to download the coco app is a nuisance I didn't feel like being bothered with today. I don't have the patience being locked down and the only option being downloading the app to get my order in. They briefly open the door to drop off the pickup items in the boxes out front. Why not allow ordering over the phone as an alternative option too?
google avatar

Jennifer M.

Yelp
Pick up order only, drinks didn't take long to complete though. Ordered drinks for me and some friends. I had the milk tea with pearl (50% sugar, you can adjust sweetness and ice level). I also tried a few sip of my boyfriend's drink, he had the matcha milk tea. Wish the milk tea had a heavier tea flavor to it, and the matcha drink was quite bland. I've definitely had better boba around; flavor is quite lackluster in my opinion and the pearls weren't soft enough, but those who don't like their drinks to taste too heavy would probably enjoy the drinks here more. One of my favorite restaurant to go to when I'm in the area is located in the same plaza so I'll definitely come back and maybe try some of their other drinks. Good location with other restaurants around and a decent parking area for convenience.

Yelp
I'm quite familiar with CoCo in Asia and in the California, so I was pleased to see it out here in MI! No mini boba here or oolong or earl grey tea, but my go-to here is the Jasmine Milk Tea @ 30% Sugar with Regular Ice. You can tell that the jasmine tea is simply a higher quality & thus, tastier & more robust. I prefer CoCo over Chatime, but I'm hardly out over here except if we're eating at Cardamom.
google avatar

Sydney R.

Yelp
Just fine - honestly so many better tea places have opened in Ann Arbor that are worth visiting if you're craving bubble tea. I'm a little surprised CoCo hasn't upped their game given the competition in the surrounding area!
google avatar

Annette J.

Yelp
I had been wanting to check out CoCo for a while but was daunted by all the reviews saying the waits were really substantial. I love boba tea but it's not a 2 hours wait kind of love. But today I was heading home after a dentist appointment and thought a Tuesday afternoon might be a good time to stop in. I was right! Now, there were a handful of people here. But I only waited about 10 minutes for my drink which I was just fine by me. I went with their most popular item, the milk tea with pearls, and (thanks to the suggestions by other reviewers here) went 50% sweet and low ice, which was perfect. Highly recommend this ratio, especially because 50% sweet was plenty sweet. I can't imagine how sugary the 100% must be! Excited to come back another afternoon and try some of the other flavors and jellies. But afternoons from now on it will be (although once the college students are back in Ann Arbor they may all have the same idea as me).

Yelp
3/24/21- Such a great experience at Coco! Truly amazing boba. I was so glad to see that their quality control is just as great as their original stores in Taiwan. A huge plus to be a student at U of M and be so close to CoCo. All orders are made ONLINE during the pandemic. // Milk Tea with Pearls (medium, 50% sweetness) Excellent creaminess and balance between the milk and tea! The tea aroma popped out but wasn't overly astringent. The milk tasted very high quality! Overall, the milk tea was incredibly smooth yet had great depth in flavor. To top it off, the boba pearls were so fresh and chewy. They were slightly more on the firm side (but not in the stale way) with a perfect springy chew. // Mango and Passionfruit Slush (medium, 30% sweetness) The fruit was incredible fresh! This would be the perfect summer/spring drink with its fragrant tropical fruit notes. The flavor wasn't artificial either, making this slush a truly refreshing drink option. // Store ambience and experience The store itself is closed to customers. All orders are made online and placed outside in their boxes for pick-up. After placing our order, our drinks were made within 5-10 minutes. Fast and easy pick-up service! // Price and value The drinks at CoCo are STELLAR. Especially at $4-5 for the medium drinks, you're getting an authentic Taiwan boba experience right on U of M's campus. I'm slightly jealous there's a CoCo on the campus but it's so great the boba is top-notch! I'll have to make a trip out here whenever I'm in Michigan. Great tasting boba with fast service for awesome prices.

Yelp
" I didn't know that I was starving till I tasted you" - American proverb, 2016 Could it truly be? Is there finally decent boba in Ann Arbor? I am cautiously, but optimistically saying yes!!! This week is their soft opening and lines are insane. What my friend and I thought would be a 45 minute moment, ended up being a 2+ hour adventure! Be prepared to wait in these early days. So how is the tea? Absolutely delicious! I had the basic pearl milk tea with 30% sweetness and it was delightful! The tea flavor was strong with just the right amount of sweetness to balance it! My only critique is that the boba was slightly undercooked. But I can hardly hold that against them given the never ending lines and the amount of boba they must be rushing to produce every hour! Despite the chaos of the line and long waits, the customer service was great! They were patient with each customer placing an order and truly pleasant to everyone in the store! The fact that this two hour saga was actually enjoyable rounds my 4.5 rating up to 5! I'm very hopeful that it'll be consistently this good on future visits! Today was certainly a win for boba lovers in A2!

Jin H.

Yelp
Hands down, the best milk tea in AA! The flavors are authentic, the tapioca pearls are perfectly chewy, and the balance between the tea and milk is just right. Whether you're a milk tea connoisseur or trying it for the first time, this place is a must-visit. Friendly staff and a cozy atmosphere only add to the overall experience. Can't wait to go back and try more flavors!

Yelp
After 4 years of being on this campus with no decent bubble tea place, there is finally a CoCo! While CoCo is definitely not the BEST bubble tea store in the world, it's a huge improvement from what Ann Arbor got. For their soft opening, they had a promotion where they gave out 50 boba sleeves for the first 50 customers each day! My friends and I got up earlier and stood on line just for the sleeve haha. They only had their 10 signature drinks available too. After waiting on line for 2 hours, we finally got our drinks (and sleeves). I had originally wanted to get the Mango Yakult, but they ran out of Yakult and had to settle with the Lemon Green Tea. The drink itself good. Was it worth waiting 2 hours good? Probably not. The store itself is also huge. Most of the CoCos I've seen are small and only have 1 or 2 tables, but this one is just as big as Bubble Island and Sweetings on Central Campus. The staff is nice, but they are very slow, which accounts for why people have to wait for so long! They are also very understaffed with only about 3 people working behind the counter. Order: - Lemon Green Tea 100% sweetness & no ice (4/5) ~ the 100% sweetness is probably the only reason why it tasted good Pros: - Actual good bubble tea - You can choose your sweetness level and how much ice you want - Store is clean and large - Location ~ it's convenient for me because I live on North and I can finally have bubble tea without having to take a bus to Central Cons: - Price ~ it's a little bit more expensive than Bubble Island and Sweetings - Wait is very long ~ hopefully once the store actually opens there will be more workers and the line will be shorter Overall: - I'll definitely come again before graduating if the line isn't too long!

Yelp
I came here during the second day of soft opening & we waited 2 hours to order and 25 minutes for the drinks! There was exactly 59 people in front of us. The wait was expected. CoCo is a chain shop so their drinks are standardized. The prices at CoCo are slightly higher but the drinks are significantly better than other boba places in AA. My friend & I ordered 5 drinks in total (it wasn't worth to wait 2 hours to order 1 drink each). My favorite was the Tropical Special. It is a passion fruit tea with lychee jelly and boba. I liked the boba best because even after 3 hours, the boba was still nice and chewy. If you ever had boba elsewhere, you would notice there isn't anything exceptionally special about CoCo. But I'm happy there's finally a decent boba shop in Ann Arbor

Yelp
Came here on a weekday afternoon and the power was out, so they were only selling milk tea and their various toppings. I paid $4.24 for their regular sized milk tea with pudding, and I honestly regret it. I could not even finish the cup. Milk tea had a weird sour taste to it, and the pudding had no flavor. It made me sad. However, on a positive note, I will be coming back to try other things on their menu, because I do think they have potential to blow my socks off.

Yelp
Place: This place is NEW & GOOD! This is place is so cute and good for friends. The line is currently pretty long despite this place is at north campus. Many students take the bus or drive there! There is a lot of seating space for friends and many sit outside as well. Service: The service is pretty good and you don't have to wait too long. Food/price: The variety types of drinks is what I enjoy the most about it! I personally love grass jelly with the bubbles. When I first went I treated myself and got the grapefruit yakult! SOO WORTH. The large size is pretty big and so I would get that if you love BOBA. Audience: The audience is pretty much college students and families :) Recommend/tips? I recommend and it's pretty popular right now! This place is an authentic boba place ~ FINALLY~ Personally the trip is pretty far so I would go if my friends want to go lol so sad...

Yelp
Tropical Special w/ 50% sugar and less ice was Fast and friendly service Best boba in town, hands down

Yelp
I'm not from Ann Arbor , but if I was I would totally go here ! I'm from Louisville Ky, and we only have a few boba places to choose from so whenever I go travel to different cities I always try boba places. From all of the boba places I have tried, this is for sure one of the best . I usually like local places better than chains, but CoCo fresh is really good standard quality for a chain. I got the jasmine green milk tea , which had a very strong / robust tea flavor to it. A lot of places jasmine green milk teas just tastes like straight up milk. This one was very flavorful ! My boyfriend got the mango yakult drink, and he enjoyed it. I also tried it of course, and approved. Both drinks were well made! Will definitely be back next time I'm in Ann Arbor . I hope Louisville, Ky gets a CoCo fresh one day. Also the service was really good, and they made our drinks fast. Loved the location too, the bookstore next to it was so cute .

Mariko I.

Yelp
My favorite spot in all of Ann Arbor for bubble tea-- worth the drive to north campus in my opinion! All of their drinks are so tasty, and the service is really great! Pros: great tea and perfect pearl texture, quick service Cons: their list isn't as extensive as other shops but they do every tea so well that it doesn't really matter. My recs: tropical special and taro milk tea Pro tip: check out their deals online! They almost always have some kind of Bogo deal or others that can save you some money!
google avatar

Hannah F.

Yelp
While Chatime may be king of boba, Coco is indisputably the king of teas. Their matcha is the best in the city in my opinion-complex and flavorful but not overpowering. Their matcha milk tea is the perfect combination of creamy and sweet at the 50% sugar level. The boba is a bit chewier than I would prefer, but still quality. I also added pudding to mine, which was soft and flan-like. Their classic milk tea has a bolder tea taste and is less creamy than Chatime's. In Coco's milk tea, the tea is the star and the milk is just a supporting role. I prefer the Chatime milk tea, but I can see how tea connaisseur would love this milk tea for the high quality tea flavor. The only really negative thing I have to say is Coco's ordering policy and staff attitude. When we arrived, we were confused about the ordering system and tried to open the door. It was locked, and the stall merely stared at us and gestures for us to go away rather than explain anything. When we finally placed our order (no calling to order either), we waited about 10 minutes outside. The only ways to order are through their app and their website. When the employee finally brought our drinks out, she didn't say a word to us and rushed back inside to lock the door, as if afraid...? Also, Coco just leaves drink orders outside in two giant cardboard boxes on folding tables, with no verification of customers or anything... I think they could be more secure with their takeout system and at least be present to verify the order accuracy. In this regard, Chatime's customer service has them beat as they use a google home to actually talk to their customers.

Yelp
I are visiting from CA. I made a stop here with the kids. My kids were going through withdrawals not having boba for few days. The ordering process was not simple. You had to order online or Facebook only. The website to order was ok but when trying to check out, it was very challenging. The staff is very polite but the process was frustrating. The drinks were very good. I ordered grapefruit orange green tea, delicious! My kids got passion fruit black tea and pearl (boba), green tea macchiato and strawberry Latte. They really enjoyed their drink. Only negative with drinks is they don't allow you to add pearl with strawberry Latte. Overall, very good and tasty.

Yelp
As a Taiwanese American, CoCo is my holy grail of bubble tea! I dramatically cried tears of joy when they opened one up in my college town, and since it has opened, I have taken every reason (excuse) to come to Ann Arbor and without fail, have gotten CoCo every single time I'm in the area! If I could, I would give CoCo TEN STARS! There is no better boba out there, especially not in Michigan, so do yourself a favor and go to CoCo! Sadly, they don't have the full menu yet, because there's a lot of other great drinks other CoCo locations (e.g. the one in Toronto) have that this one doesn't, but they have the staples! And the most important part is that they have SAGO, which is like baby boba for your drinks! Sago is arguably the best topping and personally, it's my favorite! OK brb, hopping in my car and driving to AA again to get more CoCo because writing this review has reawakened my craving!
google avatar

Sherry W.

Yelp
Yummy fresh teas! I've been to this location multiples since their grand opening. Let me just say that their wait times have improved drastically. Maybe it has to do with the hype dying down a little? I highly recommend the tropical special if you like fruity flavors. It's the bomb. They randomly do specials of the month for a discounted price. Their drinks are on the pricey end though! (Thus, the 4 stars instead of 5)
google avatar

Yelp
There's Bubble Tea explosion in Ann Arbor!! I agree, finally a decent bubble tea joint in Ann Arbor!! I went with the original milk tea. Ordering was simple, 50% less sweet, should have gotten 50% less ice. I like their bubble, it's chewy and delicious. Ordering was simple, but you do have to wait, so give yourself some time. We waited about 15 minutes for our order. There were two individuals that were making the drinks and they have to manually shake each drink. The place will definitely get busy once school starts, so if you are in town, I would recommend you go and try it out before students move in. Next them I'll have to try other offering and see how they compare to other bubble tea joints like Kung Fu and Meet Fresh.
google avatar

Chris G.

Yelp
Best bubble tea place in A2. I waited 30 minutes my first time there and I know others have waited a lot longer, which means it must be good. They make your drink to order and you can choose the level of sugar and ice. That's nice. I got the classic milk at 50% with boba. Loved it. Will do it again. Thanks for coming CoCo. Now come to Kalamazoo!
google avatar

Amirah A.

Yelp
Love coco's boba teas! Everything here is super friendly, and helps you in picking your orders. The menu is pretty standard of most boba tea places, and affordable (so nothing totally out of the ordinary). My favorite drink here is the mango smoothie - mango slush at the bottomw with milk on top. SO good. Located in a shopping plaza near U-Mich north campus. Tons of parking.
google avatar

Grace W.

Yelp
This is rating in line with the bubble tea population available in Ann Arbor and the University of Michigan campus - you can't get better bubble tea (in terms of quality, authenticity) than Coco. The other options are Sweeting and Bubble Island, and I guarantee that both taste of artificial sugar and hard tapioca pearls. Coco is a Chinese chain, and even though my favorite chain is Gong Cha, Coco isn't far behind. Instead of getting my go-to milk tea (which I recommend for first-timers), I got the Tropical blend, which features lychee jelly, bubbles and a mango juice/tea. It was $5.40 with tax. You can adjust your sugar levels and add/subtract toppings so feel feee to splurge!!!!
google avatar

Jenny H.

Yelp
CoCo's is my favorite bubble tea franchise! I was so excited to hear they were opening up in Ann Arbor. The lines will be long, but it's definitely worth the wait. Their special for June right now is their large milk tea with pearls for $3.99. I loved the drink and it was just as yummy as I remembered -- too bad I live an hour away, otherwise I'd be here every week!!
google avatar

Josh Q.

Yelp
Getting CoCo on its second day open was one of the most eye-opening experiences. I learned that I have poor priorities and that 100% sugar is always the way to go. I waited 2.5 hrs for their boba and that was an experience. Considering they had a total of four workers there, that makes sense. However, don't go at a busy time unless you like waiting in lines. As a college student, the fact that they're located on North campus, which is fairly far away from Central is definitely a down-side. There are bus routes that can get there but driving is definitely the way to get there. I ordered the matcha green tea with red beans and that was really good. Makes sense since CoCo received so much hype. I didn't doubt that the boba would taste good. It's sweet, creamy, and the red beans added a nice solid texture to the drink. For $5, I think it's a better deal than sweetings on central campus, but for a bus ride and a wait...I think I'd rather stay on central. Overall I like CoCo for their quality of drink but I don't see myself going back there anytime soon.

Yelp
So happy that Ann Arbor finally have some decent boba places. This has definitely become one of my go to boba places in Ann Arbor currently and now I won't have to drive much further to get any kind of decent boba. Prices are typical and the lines have definitely shortened compared to before. Highly recommend anyone to come here if you feel like you would want some boba!
google avatar

Stephanie C.

Yelp
Out of all the bubble teas in Ann Arbor, this one by far has the best location! It's right next to Cardamom. Free accessible parking, easy to get to off the freeway, and yet still within range of students. The location gives off froyo-vibes. I'm not sure what the building was used of before but it's colors and layout make me think it used to be a froyo place. The location itself is sizeable and good for groups. M I got the Tropical Special drink. I was very very pleased with the amount of boba they gave me. Boba is everything. And so I appreciated the fact that they did not skimp out on it. Boba was chewy and fresh. The drink got watery at the bottom. I wonder if I should have gotten less ice. I'll definitely come back when they are less busy. Their friendly staff is very patient and professional, but kind of slow. To be expected in their grand opening weekend. However I was impressed at how they handled the crowds. No sign of stress or cutting corners. Good job! They're hiring so go apply!

Yelp
This is by far my favorite place to get boba tea in town! They have a wide selection of drinks, ranging from milk teas and fruit teas to smoothies and slushes at a reasonable price. The service is really quick and the setting is great for your next catch up with friends (seating is limited unfortunately). Hopefully they'll have a Thai Tea option in the near future as well
google avatar

Yelp
A little bit of a wait but well worth it! We waited in line for about 20 minutes to order. Then another 15 mins or so for the drinks. There were people buying 20 drinks at a time, and there are seats so the wait is tolerable. We had the milk green tea with boba, tropical punch with lychee and boba, and taro. All drinks were delicious! The boba was not too sweet and had the perfect chewy texture. Would definitely recommend and be back for more.
google avatar

Moe A.

Yelp
It's a very decent boba tea place. Definitely one of my favorite spots in Michigan. I ordered their Mango slush with coconut jellies all online - perks to them for being contactless. I then waited about 15 minutes before my order was taken out into the box outside for pickup. At first sip, I was delighted. It being a sunny Michigan afternoon also required me to get something to quench my thirst and boy was this the drink I needed. It's not too sweet and the slush was cold yet smooth. The coconut jellies add a nice and fun texture to the drink. I will be back to try their milk teas.
google avatar

Kelly Y.

Yelp
Covid update! You scan the QR code outside and order online. Then they bring it outside and set it on a table for a contactless pickup! Still as yummy as ever :)

Yelp
I've tried most of the places in the area for bubble tea. Chai Time, Ding Tea, Sweeting, Bubble Island...CoCo Fresh is by far the best place! I love the mango green tea with sago (50% sugar and less ice). I lived in Taiwan for a while and am so happy I get to experience the drink stand culture back here in the States!

Yelp
I've been getting boba tea from here since this place opened! So far they have my favorite taro milk tea. The sago is also a game changer! I like to add the boba pearls to my drink as well so it's pretty fun to drink. I also really like their tropical special drink . It's a great mix of flavors and different toppings and it just hits the spot one a hot sunny day. Another thing I like about this place is the option to customize the sweetness and ice, which is pretty normal for bubble tea places (if it's not then it should be). Also, I like the change they were able to make to accommodate for COVID-19 stuff by coming up with the app and keeping things contactless. Only thing I wish was better was the notification for when the order was ready!

Yelp
One of my favorite spots to get boba! Highly recommend the Match Milk Tea. I wish they offered popping boba too!

Yelp
Well well well, where to start? We're in line for a while, finally it's our turn to order, guess what, the cashier turned away to start prep drinks without even a courtesy explanation... It took awhile for him to greet us and put in our order. And seriously you ask for tips? Boba was quite hard. The taro slush tastes very artificial. I almost forgot what I ordered because of lack of flavor. For sure I will never try taro again.

Yelp
This is my favorite place in Ann Arbor to get bubble tea! I love the wall art spanning one side of the shop of Ann Arbor landmarks. My favorite drink here is the double delight, which is a milk black tea with bubbles and pudding. They usually put a large block of pudding into the drink. My strategy is to jab my straw into it with each sip of my bubble tea until it starts to break up and disintegrate within the beverage. Therapeutic and tasty. I also like the ability to customize the sugar and ice level in my drink. I usually ask for 50% sugar when I get pudding since's it's sugary enough to sweeten the rest of the rest of the drink. There is ample parking space, which always beats having to find a spot to park when visiting other bubble tea locations around campus.

Yelp
Whenever I come back to Ann Arbor, you can be sure I'll be going to CoCo for my taro smoothie fix. It was the only place of the 3 I tried while there that had a taro smoothie WITH tapioca pearls. I won't name names cause I don't like to call out like that in my reviews, but locals could probably take a whack at guessing. The taro was perfectly sweet, on the dot consistency, and the pearls were just the right texture. I may try another flavor once I'm back but taro is my baseline go-to!

Yelp
Happy that Coco finally made it to Ann Arbor!! Slow service though. Have the milk teas, green teas etc but no lychee flavor or straight passion fruit. Iced boba teas and smoothies are perfect for a summer treat... but can get warm boba milk tea when the weather is colder. This is the big Taiwan milk tea chain which we like so we will be back.

Yelp
While the debate as to whether Joe Flacco is elite or not rages on, the same cannot be said for CoCo: it is the undisputed King of Boba in Ann Arbor. Since opening its doors, CoCo has been the sole beacon of light in the dark abyss that is North Campus. They've consistently delivered high quality milk teas, being very creamy, not too sweet, and all the while maintaining a strong tea flavor. As with any boba shop their tapioca might vary from day-to-day, but it's never too hard or mushy. I'd highly recommend starting off getting a milk tea with 30% or 50% sugar, as it allows you to taste the tea while not being too bland. For my personal taste, the fruit teas are too sickeningly sweet to order regularly, but they do have a great fruit flavor and offer the perfect refreshment for a hot Summer day. Whether celebrating a test well taken or mourning a potentially grade-killing defeat, CoCo is the way to go if you're craving a treat on North Campus. If you're looking for the best bubble tea in Ann Arbor, CoCo is definitely it.

Good drinks. No hours posted. I've showed up twice and they were not open. Ugh. Stopped by again when I was in the area.... should I be surprised that they were closed?!? Just came by again and they were closed!!! Wth!
